Knockaert Made Permanent



The Club is pleased to confirm that the permanent registration of Anthony Knockaert as a Fulham player has been completed.

While on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, the winger tallied nine goal contributions for the Whites this season, netting three in the Championship and laying on a further five assists, while he also scored a stunner in our FA Cup victory over Aston Villa.

Knockaert will now remain at the Club until the summer of 2023, with the Club holding an option to extend by a further year.

Speaking to fulhamfc.com, Knockaert said: "I'm happy to continue the adventure with Fulham for three more years. I'm really excited for the remainder of this season and hopefully we can achieve our goal of being promoted to the Premier League.

"I've had a good time here since I joined the Club and I'm looking forward to the future."

Tony Khan added: "I'm pleased to announce that we've exercised our option to convert Anthony Knockaert's loan agreement to a permanent, and now Anthony will be with us at Fulham for the future!

"Anthony has become important to our squad since his arrival. Our loan deal with Brighton expired this month, and exercising our option ensures that Anthony will be with us for the remainder of our push for promotion this season and beyond!

"Anthony plays hard at both ends, and he brings great quality and competitiveness to our squad. He's scored and assisted important goals for us, and last night he made a huge block in stoppage time in our win at Nottingham Forest; I'm thrilled Anthony's staying with us!

That's great news. He is soooo much better for the team than Cav.

He really tries hard and his effort against Forest in closing down was excellent.

Agreed - securing these three and maybe Harrison has given us a very good platform for next season if it's in the championship in particular, especially if we keep mitro, johansen, Cairney and Hector etc.

I'd still like another top striker to compliment mitro and another Cb and competition for both full back positions. Also if I'm being really picky I've still not seen the creativity in Am that I'd like and feel can unlock teams easily. Johansen has that capacity but he's not being given game time at the moment.

Not sure that this is the right move given what he has displayed in a Fulham shirt. The positive is that we all know what he can do, and we just need to find a way to unlock his ability within our system. Regardless, he is a White now and so let's get behind him. Players have made me eat my words before (Gera/Baird), and I hope it happens again.

Agree with this. Same opinion with Cav and Reed to be honest. If we go up then what? I guess they will be squad players

We have spend a hell of a lot for a Championship side on Bobby, Cav and Knockhaert and they really haven't contributed that much. Wish him the best of luck in our famous white shirt but I'm not convinced he has shown enough to merit a permanent transfer.

Altogether pleased with this signing, not an overly exciting signing but there again was terribly excited when we signed Seri!
We know what we have with Knockie. An above average Championship player and a good squad man if we happen to go up.

This transaction leaves me cold and on what I've witnessed this season am mystified what qualities the club think Knockaert brings to a side supposedly planning for a return to the Premiership. Signing players on the way down rather than on the way up suggests shortcomings in both our scouting system - do we in fact have one? - and judgements made by our Director of Football. Another 'Darren Bent' who will be warming the bench for most of next season.

I am happy with that as he has the potential to improve his few shortcomings and to step up a gear, I like his manner and his attitude and he did put his body on the line with that shot towards the end last evening.
He is a familiar face and does not need to go through the process of getting to know the team and manager and coaches. This permanent deal may inspire him a little more to play within the framework of the team and of course he is familiar with all staff, every little bit helps, so I have no problem making him permanent. He is another warrior and we need as many as we can.
Talking about warriors, I would love and hope that Harrison Reed is the next player off the tank to sign permanently, as he ticks all my boxes and would definitely enhance FULHAMS rise to the top.

Knock. demonstrated in every game he has played for us that he can be relied upon to put in the maximum effort and he can never be faulted for not trying. We should welcome him to the club.

However he has been part of the recent Cav. Reid Knock strike force and it is noticeable that none of these three strikers have managed to score a goal for a dozen or so games and yet all three have now been awarded contracts. The fact is that the team needs something extra and beyond what any of them has to offer as a goal scorer.

Knock could find himself spending a lot of time bench warming.

No mention of the transfer fee but I imagine Brighton are pleased with the business.

So in addition to having two players in our current defence that cannot defend, we've now signed an attacker that doesn't score or create goals.

Some on here seem to see his effort levels as a mitigant. IMO the fact he tries hard makes his low productivity even more worrying. If he was lazy, I could at least tell myself he'd be a good player if the manager could motivate him.

He's clearly lost something since joining us. I don't know what it is, but now that we've signed him, let's hope it's something he can get back in due course.

He certainly shouldn't be starting games in the near-term IMO.

Agree, his performances has been sporadic, try not to score every time, the assists will do just fine.

Agree or not about his qualities as a player, you can't fault that we're learning from mistakes of the past.

Our squad was left completely stripped when all our loans left upon promotion last time. If we're lucky enough to go up this year we'll at least have the makings of a squad and not need a million signings just to be able to name a full bench.

And that's the problem, isn't it?  Only 'on his day' is he productive.  Largely a disappointment in my mind.  Puts in the work effort and a good shift, but always comes up empty in producing.  Poor passes, oft times gets himself in position where it's him v 2-3 other players and gets knocked off the ball.  I just see a lot of holes in his game.  Consistent production lacking.  Not overly excited about his extension.  Hope, of course, he can prove me wrong....
