Passed away at the age of 91.
He composed some great film scores including those for Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns.
The Good, the Bad and Ugly score was brilliant.

There are just too many soundtracks to mention. The Mission made an ordinary film into a moving classic. His themes made films must watch entertainment. How many of us have had his soundtracks for the spaghetti westerns going on in our heads while waiting in line? A true master that made good films into great films.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Woolly Mammoth

I agree with both your posts, they were real classics and he was a master when it came to film soundtracks.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.

Sad news....We have the CD of the music from"Once upon a time in America".
Terrific to relax to,think I'll put it on now.
RIP.

The word genius is thrown around too often nowadays but in Ennio's case, it is entirely justified (and maybe not even strong enough!). He could absolutely transform a film with his soundtrack. You always knew when it was his score too.

So, so many wonderful pieces of work. Obviously all the Leone westerns (Once Upon A Time In The West is unbelievable), but Cinema Paradiso is one of the most beautiful scores ever. He was also so versatile- think The Thing and other work in that period. To then return in his mid-80s for the haunting score to Tarantino's The Hateful Eight is just startling.

A true great and one of a kind. I really don't think we will ever see his like again.

Steeeeeeeeeed

I went to see him at the O2 in 2018 (I think it was), fantastic music live, very powerful and moving.

A truly great composer.

A number of good films became great films due to his music.
A lesser known Clint E western, The Unforgiven was an example of this.
It's worth a look if you've not seen it before ( and you like western's ).
