The goals conceded yesterday were very poor

Sheff Wed didn't have to work to get the goals, they were gifted.

1st goal) we had the opportunity to clear the danger several times,

2nd goal) I think the Fulham player tried to get out of the way, so the ball hit him side on, the shot should have been easily cleared.

3rd goal) The tall striker, unmarked in the box, nobody close to him, a free header, that was a 'training ground goal to concede'.

Great result, but the defending was poor.

If we have to rely on Le Marchand playing in our defensive, particularly at left back, we will always concede. He can't defend. Remember last season against Martial (amongst other lapses). There was a goal against earlier this season at The Cottage where we conceded when the ball to the far post he froze and the attacker had an easy task of putting it in the net. Look at yesterday their first goal he couldn't make the right decision; then in the last minute the cross to the far post and their attacker was able to head it back across the six yard box and somehow it was scrambled away. A defender of note should have been able to stop the attacker rising above him either by jumping, standing your ground or leaning into to him to stop him having a free jump and header.

Whatever happened to the old principle..... If in doubt kick it out!

Sgt Fulham

First goal was dumb but never a penalty. Second goal was very unlucky in the way it spun off Kebano. Third goal was just a good cross to a giant. Wednesday were lucky to even get close to us tbh. On the flip side, some of our goals were real quality.

filham

The worrying aspect was not the nature of the goals but the fact that our defence was struggling against raw power and a little pace and early balls into the box. The Wednesday game in the second half had changed and we were taken apart at times.

Tempest

Problem is, most goals scored are down to the defensive team being poor in some way, certainly say a better organised defence would have stopped most of our goals yesterday,  so I'm happy we scored more than them, keep doing that and we'll be OK!

The problem was that we handed them the initiative with the first goal, then we felt hard done by, lost our composure, but at least we kept going.

A lot of goals we've conceded this season have been soft. Need toughening up at the back 🤨💪

Woolly Mammoth

It's a simple game, and the object is to score more goals that the opposition.
Nonetheless, our defence does need surgery which should be a priority for next season, no matter what happens in the playoffs.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Hector isn't the player he was before lockdown. Ream is exactly the player he has been for the last two seasons. The same with the accident waiting to happen Le Mygodnothim.

We have needed a centre half or two for years. Hector seemed perfect until the return after lockdown. We rely on our defensive midfielders who have been doing a great job but are not going to last a  season or even a whole game.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Agree with you on Hector - he sometimes looks like a midfielder or striker made to play at the back and is either panicky or just sticks a hopeful leg out. Not sure why this loss of confidence.

I just think we went out from the start and attacked, which as we know from our earlier season form we struggle in defence.
Before yesterday we had nearly 6 clean sheets on the bounce and everyone moaned that we were not attacking and boring to watch, yesterday certainly wasn't boring and the result was nether in doubt!

hopper

Worth mentioning we did almost go 5 games without conceding a goal for context. There is a mistake or two in this defence, but they're still doing a decent job.

The attack looked poor as well only scoring 5

rogerpbackinMidEastUS

I know we make lots of poor decisions and errors at the back, but it's not always the defenders fault.
Take into consideration the quality of some of the attacking play from the oppositions forwards.
eg: We scored 5 quality goals yesterday and yet SW supporters would say their defense
made mistakes for all 5 goals
VERY DAFT AND A LOT DAFTER THAN I SEEM, SOMETIMES

Exactly that.

Well, yes, on another day it could have been 5 - 5, score 5 goals at home and only draw.

AnOldBrownie

Joe, or even Denis at left back wouldn't have conceded that first goal because they would have cleared out the ball.

MLM should continue to not get playing time if Ream is the LCB.    Too many errors would be available on our left side.

Can't believe people are going in on Michael Hector.

fulhamben

The second goal was just pure luck. No one was at fault.
CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.
