Whilst I am cautious and not over confident myself, this talk of them doing a Jaap Stam Reading... Come on... We can do a Jaap Stam Reading better than
anyone including Jaap Stam and his Reading side of 16/17 vintage, as we have proven several times this season!

I also think its doing them a bit of a disservice as they play more football than in the Warnock days.

So they consider themselves in form team while their game plan is relying on long throw-ins.  1500.gif

Hmm, don't let the facts get in the way eh?

Think Cardiff is the worst of the teams we could've got. I know we beat them but if the score first, we won't break them down as we can't cope with teams sitting back.

Bad feeling about this one.

I actually am confident with anyone bar brentford but that has also now changed. Feel we enter them in as good form and mentally ready as any of the other 3. But then I thought that in 2017 when we had Reading...

Felt like we were a club that didn't do playoffs but we're playoff regulars now

Cardiff 0-2 Fulham
Fulham 3-1 Cardiff

Heard it here first

I don't think things could ever be this straightforward with FFC but I hope you're right!

Hmm, they play long ball, rely on individual moments from a small number of key players and also rely on long throws bringing the centre backs up. They also play combative football which is similar but probably not as aggressive as Stam's team. We're marred with being the favourites, they are not. It has a lot of echoes to the Reading team we lost to.

We also don't play anything like Reading under Stam so I'm more confused by that comment. We close games out well but not like they did. We keep the ball and reluctantly build up going forward, Stam conceded possession a lot and built disciplined banks.

Yeah.  That's me and my living paycheck to paycheck self.    :005:

If we can't beat Cardiff over two legs then we don't deserve to go up, simple as that. No easy games in the playoff, but there are less difficult opponents and Cardiff are one of them. May the best team win.

It was a facetious comment about the level of excitement in our play and the amount of goals we score.

It will be a tough game. There are far too many arrogant comments here. Confidence is good (I'm confident we'll go through over the two legs), arrogance is not. We dropped points against almost all (maybe even all, I haven't checked) the relegated clubs and the near misses. Cardiff are better than those so there's no reason why, especially in a game that matters a great deal and with the pressure relatively off them, turn us over.

DanVerSar

I think it's important we win the first leg and don't play for a draw. In the second leg if we are level the pressure will be on us to press and and we have seen this costing us quite a few times at home this season (Hull, Barnsley) where we have been done on the break.

We should be confident. We have a far better squad and Harris is trying to unsettle us by heaping all the pressure on our shoulders, as any manager would do to gain advantage in the play offs. Parker should be using these quotes for motivation.

They might need reminding that the game will be played with a round ball

rebel

First leg, If we play the way we did against Wednesday, without the self inflicted errors, then Cardiff will be second best all day long. Stupid micro managed tactics will leave us on the end of a defeat. Winning by a good margin, then Cardiff will need to leave gaps in the second leg that we can exploit.

Stevieboy

Cardiff launch long throws from anywhere in the oppositions half, let's hope Scotty has a plan fir catching them on the break when all their big men are pushed up!!

out of interest, i wonder what a mini league table looks like of the play-off teams against the rest of the top 10....

Interesting they view us as more of a threat than Brentford.

Brentford were the team I really didn't want to meet during playoffs, I know their form has been indifferent in the last couple of matches, but they are a good team with a good manager and play some good stuff.

Andy S

Brentford know they had a game against us where we lost but didn't deserve to. They will be fearful, under pressure and likely to blow it through inexperience. Cardiff know exactly what we are like as well

filham

Having lost twice to Barnsley this season  there is no way we are going to be arrogant and we know full well that any game in the Championship can be difficult.

I am sure that Parker will approach this match with caution and no way will we let Cardiff get away with an easy victory, we have a good pool of players and should be well set up for the two games in four days. Playing the first leg away should also help us.
Having Kamara on the bench is also helpful but wish he had more game time to make him match fit.

I am quietly  confident that we have the edge in these two matches but we all know that on the match days luck can play a part and turn things against us.

rebel

We know what Cardiff's tactics will be, 'fouls a-galore', if we can get free kicks in the right areas, we have a free-kick specialist who can take advantage.
