His knee is bust and he had quite a serious back problem. I wouldn't mind him in conjunction with another player because if he stays fit he's very good, only problem is that you'd have to view him as being unreliable due to his injury history so can't count on him to play regularly over 38 games

Age doesn't need to be a factor. For example Jimmy Langley, arguably our best ever full back, was about 29 when we signed him and we had about nine good seasons from him.
