When we whine and moan about our football club we should remember clubs like Macclesfield . As john dempsey mentions, I remember the F A Cup game. I remember living up around there and passing the ground in the sixties and early seventies. To think that Fulham were once struggling to exist is just heart breaking for clubs like Macclesfield. But for the grace of luck and many people who didn't give up. We could have been Macclesfield.

Two weeks of Bale's wage would sort out a lot of the problem.

Indeed it is somewhat ironic that it is the lure of Bale-like success that gets people involved in the game these days rather than just enjoying kicking a ball around in the streets, playgrounds or anywhere else you could kick a ball around.  Does money have to destroy everything?
