Not sure why so many on this site are so heated on our form.
We all knew this would be exceptionally tough.
We got lucky coming up. Our squad already looked tired and ageing.
We get the Big TV money whilst 50% of EFL clubs are on the brink.
SP has done a remarkable job for a new manager.

We are very likely to go back down, we should fight not to BUT not have a nervous breakdown!

If we go down (having conserved cash) we will be in a massively strong position to rebuild a more sustainable PL squad and come back.

The real lesson for this is the Playoffs are fun to watch but very bad for the third promoted side.

But that can't be the plan, surely?

Being organised and looking like a team however short of ability is the minimum requirement from any supporter and that's clearly not the case.

Its not the losing its the manner of the lose which is the issue

That team had an average of what, about 26?
Is that "ageing" now?

Which is all well and good as long as you have someone at the club able to identify and purchase the correct players for the step up the following season, and a manager and coaching system good enough for the job! Something we are obviously struggling with at the moment. In my opinion, But for a few exceptions, our players are worse now than at any time in the last 10 years.

Everyone knows that the Prem is a step up. It's the fact that we aren't doing the 'basics', the defending is 'shambolic', we've conceding goals which were all 'preventable'. It's the fact that the team should be in 'better' shape then it is. They are playing like strangers. There was a 'purple patch' against Leeds when we were actually playing well, defending and attacking. That is the 'frustration', we know the players has the ability, but it's not being utilized, whether it's the players, coaches etc? It's not been happening.

Parker had a 'purple patch' in 2018, won three in a row without conceding, we still have some of that squad, he needs to 'work it out'.

It's not mission impossible but a wasted opportunity. With all the financial resources made available to the club we should be performing a lot better.

We underperformed last season too, considering out transfer budget. Unfortunately the person resonsible for our recruitment isn't qualified for the job. We sign the wrong type of players for our style of football. We fail to strengthen the positions we need strengthening the most. We also sign far too many players that are total failures (like Fonte who we wasted an almost unbelievably amount of money on). This has been going on for years now and the rot seems to have spread throughout the entire squad/staff.

We might be successful in the Championship where TK can massively outspend the other clubs but we will never be a success in the Premier League until we hire someone qualified for the job. Meaning a person who can actually get a similar job at a club that isn't owned by his dad and make clever signings rather than waste money on failures.

Unfortunately we will NOT "be in a massively strong position to rebuild a more sustainable PL squad and come back" because:

1) We will probably have the same unqualified person in charge.

2) Many of the players will want to leave after relegation so we're facing yet another rebuild of the squad (with the same unqualified person in charge).

3) Even in we somehow get rid of TK, keep our best players and replace the weakest links in our squad/staff the Championship is a tough division to get out of. There's never a guarantee we will get back up before the parachute money runs out.

Even at the best of times we wouldn't be in a "massively strong position" after a relegation. This time I fear we will end up closer to League One than PL. Mitrovic probably gone, no Ross McCormack to save us, the weakest squad we've had for years, if not decades.

I fear we have dark times ahead.

But then again, TK might sign 2 world class CBs and a 20-goal striker on deadline day and keep us up... 079.gif

Back to back games without us getting a goal but letting in six against average opponents is pretty bad.
To most of us right now it looks as if we have nothing but thrashings coming up and the weak areas in the team have been obvious for a long time and remain unchanged.

Exactly.  Can you imagine what will happen when we play the likes of Liverpool etc, it doesn't bear thinking about, never mind watching.....

Once again spot on about why the Club are letting everyone down  ... you have to have something to believe in and seemingly all we have left is the unfulfilled promise TK gave back in August.  It is not an outlook that bodes well.

There are just a lot of issues seemingly behind the scenes at the club. We've not have the most amount of time to get our act together in the offseasons we've been promoted. This time we got promoted a couple of weeks after Leeds and West Brom, plus it's covid which means there's an extra level of complexity to things.

Last time we came up we had to compete with a world cup - does that help or count? We have had three managers a season under the Khan's in their premiership seasons.

TK is also very stuck in his own mind... bound to be anyone's downfall.

Leeds were head and shoulders above us last season. They've also had the clarity of mind to address the key areas of their squad they need to.

TK doesn't get football I've concluded. We also shouldn't be giving managers their first chance in this league to be a manager. Sorry, but it's too steep a curve for anyone to inspire confidence, lead the team on and off the pitch and adapt where necessary.

Feel under the khans our standards and expectations have gone through the floor.
