The squad collectively simply isn't good enough. We have some top players but unfortunately not enough of them to trouble most opposition defences. The time has come to build a squad capable of staying in the Prem without the over reliance on loan players. The term Loan Utd has been bandied about and it does feel like that.

The selected team has always been in matches, especially after beating Everton 2 - 0. That was the best performance of the season, we had an unbeaten run of 6 / 7 matches before we faced Man City. The squad / team are good enough. I think the problem is maintaining the tempo and intensity over 90 minutes. We are happy to let the opposition have the ball and defend, that's our downfall.

The squad is the biggest issue. Creatively we have been ineffective. The loss of Cairney can't be understated but our forwards are the principal cause of our low scoring rate. Apart from Lookman the remainder have struggled to adapt to the Premier League. Mitro, Cavaleiro, Reid, Kamara and Kebano just aren't up to the standard. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on Mitro but this hasn't been a great season for him for a number of reasons. Likewise Reid who has chipped in with a few goals but even they have dried up. Kamara and Kebano weren't regulars in the Championship so it came as no surprise that they were sent out on loan. So the squad simply isn't good enough and our league position reflects that.
