Poor performance but Carvalho looks quality

This guy looks the real deal: good technique and passing range, positive going forward and a great finish, but he also worked his socks off winning back the ball.

I'd like to see more of him next season so I hope we hold onto him, we don't have a great track record of keeping our young talent.

The difference to the way the u18,s play and the first team is immense.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

He is under contract until 2022, so it won't be an Elliott situation at least. Think he could be convinced to sign a new contract if it looks like he'll be able to get some first team minutes next season.

Sadly if he plays too much Parker will coach that nasty attacking threat out of him.

To quote the Sky commentator on one of his runs 'Men against boys'. He was referring to his slight physic compared with the large Southampton defender who was brushing him off the ball. He will probably bulk up a little as he gets older and this will help against the 'No prisoners taken' Championship defences.he certainly has a good footballing brain and technique.

I fear you're right. You just have to look at Lookman's regression. He was so good when he'd just joined.

I saw Fabio when he was sixteen playing against my local side Bromley in a pre season game and posted about him at the time. Best moment of today's game was the way he put his goal away. Hopefully we will maybe see another of these young players in the last couple of games.

Yep. Lookman also partly due to no competition at all.

You can even look at how good Cav was to begin with last season. Then coached to be just a player who runs off the ball only.

Totally agree, he's better off playing for the U23s if Parker stays in charge

Lookman was exactly the same at Everton, started well then flattered to deceive. Nothing to do with Parker.

A good counter point, sir.

not just those two even knockheart was better when he joined and then declined. It's something I've noticed but never said anything about it . There's others also —— I'll leave it for others to name them.

I've never seen Cav play consistently well for Fulham !! The only time I saw him playing well at CC was for Wolves; he played very well that day !!

I think Cav needs moving on amongst others .... quite frightened to see Ream and Odoi on the bench; move them on !!

I've been banging on that drum since last season. I'm probably also one of the few that think that Cav is still a pretty good player, so I guess you should take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Attack under Parker has been very dependent on individual achievements rather than good movement. Only attacking player that has markedly improved with Parker at the reigns is Onomah. And I guess Kebano turned into a free kick specialist too.

Like I've said before on numerous occasions:

Lookman has a history of starting brightly and gradually turn into a disappointment at every club he has played. This was even mentioned when we signed him. I'm not sure we can blame Parker for this, it was more or less predicted at the start of the season.

As for Carvalho, he has been training with the first team for quite some time now, hasn't he? And surprise, surpsrise, Parker hasn't ruined him yet.

Parker may be part of our problems but all this nonsense about him ruining players is a huge overreaction IMO.

Carvalho is a promising player, and I think it is right to give him first team experience.  I like his willingness to try to find space, and his goal will do wonders for his confidence.  But let's not get carried away - he was outmuscled for the most part today.  He has the potential to be a valuable player for us, but let's give him some time, and not expect him to play 46 games next season as a miracle worker.

I agree that we should not expect him to play 46 games next season, but he will be 19 and looks ready to get a lot more game time especially with us being in the Championship.

Having said that and assuming we will be playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 next season (regardless of the manager), would people be happy if the minutes in the AM position were shared between Cairney/Onomah/Carvalho and we don't get a new player? That way Carvalho could get 15-20 games out of next season's 50-55 games. That's how you develop and trust new players, even if the results are not there straight away.

Ss12white

I don't understand we haven't run him out earlier. Clearly can finish but instead we have gone with the same few the whole season.
