Marco Silva

I've not seen a thread on this, but I just want to say what a tremendous job that Silva has done. He took over with 3 1/2 weeks until the league season started. and managed to basically totally change the way the team plays, and exorcise the horror that was Parkerball. We play fast attacking purposeful football, and the longer the season goes on the more teams will be scared of trying to attack us (as what happens with every top team in any league).

He managed to fully integrate back into the first team squad almost all the players that were on loan and outcast by Parker. (Seri and Mitro most notably).

All the players that are interviewed say that he makes everything so clear and simple to understand, and he's doing basic things like playing players in their correct positions, and also playing to the strengths of the players we have.

I've always said that the manager is the most important signing a club can make, and for me Khan has knocked it out the park. We have by far the best squad in the league, and I believe we also have the best manager. Its frightening to the rest of the league that Silva believes we can get much better (and I do too)

Any one getting worried that we may lose silva to a premier league team? Halfway through the season.

Wolves not having the best of start and has a strong Portuguese connection.

Watford known to be not very patient with their managers and will chop n change.  Silva Was their manager before may well go back. Flores had 2 spells.

Palace, newcastle possible teams as well if they don start well

It's possible he left Watford for Everton.

I don't think he will tbh, if he leaves for a prem job after 6 months, and fails in the prem, that's his career in England over. I really think he wants to prove he can manage a long term project, and show that he can be loyal to a team. I really think he wants to prove a point

Tabby

He has spent a couple of years in the wilderness, think he might be a bit less inclined to jump ship unless a club at top 6 level comes knocking.

He's probably got a clause in his contract, doubling or possibly trebling his lifetime wish to be an AEW star......

I would think TK has given him a 50% stake in Tarzan Boy to keep him sweet for at least a couple of years

I dunno its a good song and he got the rights as a present to jungle boy. Would just be mean to sell some of the rights to it

Agree with the OP & in particular a fantastic start.

However, we have yet to be really tested & as Marco has said it's only 5 games so far & we are a work in progress.

Somewhere down the line we will be beaten & our run will stutter. It will be interesting to see how Marco gets the team to respond.

Still 2 days left of the transfer window with some further changes still to come.

It's a much more positive & happier season so far & so much better not to be the whipping boys.

It will be exciting to see how the work in progress develops towards our return to the Premiership.

He has started fantastically well. The risk with Silva is that the grass is greener on the other side. Hopefully it won't come to that. Logic says he knows he can't do that again and get away with it if he fails in the next job but minds aren't always logical

What is also good is that we are not sweating on last minute loan deals for players coming in.

There is an old saying "never say never" but it is highly unlikely as Silva was on his last chance kin England when he came here. He knows that moving to a premier league club mid season is a huge risk. He believes he is with a club that is very likely to be in the mix at the end of season. His appeal to another club would be huge then if he had won promotion

Now then how can I twist & turn this thread.... I know..... I've heard there maybe a vacancy shortly at boscombe

Good point. Yes, why would he want to leave a team that is doing well, perhaps even exceedingly well, to take on a challenge that might be bordering on impossible? If he has a good season with us, then the year provides a big plus on the c.v. rather than at best another question mark. And looking further forward, say we were to be promoted only to be relegated, that does not necessarily tarnish a reputation as it can depend on performance levels rather than results as everyone accepts how hard it is for Championship sides to succeed. Plus we want him to stay .....

unionist_ffc

Think he speaks well, has us scoring and it's obviously a good start.

Will be interesting to see how we deal with an unexpected loss and injuries.

NJFulham

I think he's been given assurances about transfers and stuff he couldn't get at Watford or Everton imo.

I think he has guarantees from Shahid, he keeps talking about the project so something has him fired up.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

Not at all worried - at this stage.  He's started very well with us but as yet has not won anything.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

A relegation battler, like Arsenal, might tap him on the shoulder

The worry about Silva being poached by Premier League teams, and also bigger clubs with eyes on European adventures, is very fair and I too feel this paranoia looming over my head. What I will say though, which always calms my worries, is Silva has had his head turned before, and his previous forays into the English game employing that kind of nomadic methodology has not worked out in his favor. From all the pre-season readings I have done on Marco and his past regarding this specific issue, it does seem like he has put that impulsiveness to rest. He was out of work for quite some time since his last managerial posting, and I don't think it's only the Premier League where he would essentially be blacklisted from if he did it again - all clubs talk, all leagues watch, and no one wants that kind of "pirate boarding" from their gaffer. I also posted a discussion thread recently where I highlighted how often, in fact every press conference, whereby Marco says "Fulham Football Club" and the "long term project" that he was brought on to do. He has the backing, he has Premier League infrastructure, and I am sure he sees Fulham as his first-ever long term managerial position - and I for one am excited for 2-3 seasons, minimum, of some darn stability!
Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"
