I like the Marco Silva appointment.

They backed Silva's signing choices eg Muniz, Chalobah. Spent a bit of money but not negligent amounts.. retaining a lot of the squad where possible.

I'm not sure I blame the owners too much this year. They've been above average overall I'd say.

Hmmm those Silva signings (if indeed that's what they are) aren't really showing up that well yet. Wilson has faded, Gazza needs to be dropped for Rodak, neither Chalobah nor Quina hae shown they are any sort of improvement toexisting our midfield players, Muniz is a bit of a gamble (and a rather expensive one).
Not saying they won't come good but there have to be questions.  How does that reflect on our owners?  Well to theur credit they have backed Silva but whether they have spent their money wisely only time will tell.
Yes, I said as much in another thread, for once the owners have backed the manager, the pressure now is right on Silva, he has his choice of players and experience in depth. While we have to give him time we are entitled to expect better results than we are getting.

Well said.
Any fool can criticise, condemn and complain, and most fools do.

Whether you like the owners or not they support us financially, payroll, overhead, transfers and a new stand. They also inherited a club on the decline. Regardless, the worst part of this weekend was losing so badly, but we are still 5th and we can put things right and win this thing. As for Brentford, I am very pleased for them. At least they are trying, which is more than we say about us last season. As for Bournemouth I couldn't really care less and they will probably be in the play offs. On a good note W Brom and Shef United lost and I had toad in the hole for dinner last night.

They support us financially, yes, and I'm not ungrateful, but where exactly are they taking FFC? Payroll, overheads, transfers, all part and parcel of owning a football club, and a shiny new stand is immaterial to me, if they can't get the fundamentals right and fill it.

As a football club we're floating, we're not going anywhere under the Khans stewardship, and I don't buy all this 'they saved us from decline' rubbish. Fayed gave us 13 superb years in the Premier League, and the Khan's actually ruined that with their incompetence.

8 years on, and we're not further forward, whereas teams like Leicester, Wolves and now Brentford, are streets ahead, both on and off the park.

Said it before, and I'll say it again, good times will not return to Fulham with that wrestling fanatic at the wheel.

This. THIS.

If someone had offered me our current position as a yo-yo club between the top two divisions when Bulstrode was measuring us up for a block of flats, when I stood there watching the 92nd club in the league beat us and the trapdoor was starting to creak open, when FC Flyover were beating us 4-0 at half time on a Sunday morning, I would have bitten their hand off.

Yes, things could be better at the moment, but overall the glass is still very much more than half full.

But we're not under Bulstrode? We're under the 8B ownership of Shahid Khan, who for the past 8 years, has had us yo-yo-ing without any clear intentions of direction. If you're happy with that, then fair enough, I'm certainly not ..

I meant it's all relative. Yes, I'd like us to be 10 points clear at the top by now and strolling back up, but relatively speaking we're not doing too badly. Still handily placed in the league, despite some ridiculous inconsistency already, a chairman with very deep pockets and clearly very much with the club's best interests at heart and the biggest improvement to the ground since I don't know when almost complete.

And I sort of disagree about us not going anywhere under the current chairman. 2 promotions is pretty good, even if 3 relegations kind of negates all of that and maybe more, but I don't think we're standing still.

The corpse of the Moneyball data approach may still be twitching somewhere at Motspur Park, but since then we've been promoted and tried splashing the cash. When that didn't work, we got promoted again and tried to work the loan system instead. When that didn't work, we've signed the players the manager identified and worked hard to make sure we got them (eg. Muniz) and supported the manager 100%. Now this may not work either, but then the Chairman will try something else. He's a successful businessman and that won't have happened by accident - I think he will keep trying different things until he does get it right. We just need to be patient, which I admit is hard. But I do think the club is in much better shape than when he arrived and MAF and Jol already had us in a downward spiral. I'm confident he'll get it right in the end so, yes, I'm mostly OK with the direction of travel at the moment - just not the losing at Blackpool and Coventry bits.

I don't feel that bad about it - we lost a game, giving away a couple of  silly goals. and some of our rivals won. Not that historic!

We're still challenging for promotion, in contention. Things can  change quickly in this division.

I think SK has ben a pretty good owner,  putting a lot of  cash into the club, and is handicapped by FFP from totally doing an MAF.

Southdowns White

Just wait until that new stand is full of corporates from across the globe, spending their money on champagne and fine foods, while us lot are fighting our way to the toilet for a half time pee under the Hammi end. Despite what Sky and other media outlets say, Football is not what it was, gradually each game has become an event, a bit like a trip to the theatre or theme park. Whether we like it or not, if we are to be in any hat with the big boys we need to get the ground up to the standards of top premiership teams. Year on year it is almost impossible to compete with the teams in the top half of the table if your income is tiny, it can be done in the short term as proven by Bournemouth and others but long term there is very little hope. The fact that we spent 13 years in the Premiership was a fantastic effort of getting things right and possibly a bit of luck. People pay for the cheap seats just to be in the same stadium as the wonderful stands full of their corporate clients, just to say they were there to their mates.
I like to think we can get the infrastructure in place for a long term stay in the top division at some stage soon, for a small club like Fulham with the problems it has come through since I have been supporting them is a little miracle in itself. We are the proof that people will come to Craven Cottage in large numbers if we get things right on and off the pitch, that despite our traditional fan base being dispersed away from the area due to 'Social Cleansing' by successive governments since the 1970s.
The only way for us is up, keep the faith everyone.

Stevieboy

How many foreign owners do you think really understand football, they don't pay managers, coaches, all sorts of trainers and players.....to do it themselves.
I really cannot understand any animosity towards our owners, they don't plough in squillions of pounds for us to fail.
It's about time everyone got behind the team through thick and thin, dissent and negativity spreads like a virus, mostly with only knee jerk reactions driving them.

Cumbrian White

The owners, they are leaning, slowly, very slowly but they ae getting there.

The ups and downs of supporting Fulham? I'm afraid losing 4-1 to Cov is part and parcel of being a Fulham fan, in the last 25 years or so its generally an upward trend but with some huge lows.

Personally, I don't mind, win, lose or draw, being up here no one really cares about anything other Liverpool, Everton and Man U so  don't get anything other than lethargic empathy

Glad you can still hear Peabody. I've also been a supporter for 68 years Bog, (more if you count the 2 years that my dad wouldn't let me go!) and have selective hearing now. It's quite useful sometimes.

Parker top of the pile, that lot beating West Ham in the 94th after being absolutely pummelled all second half, and our utterly embarrassing performance yesterday.

Not sure I can take much more of supporting Fulham any more, they're really starting to get to me mentally now after all these years, and I mean 40+.

Yes, I expect the normal jibes of 'go support someone else then' that's what I expect from people after a reaction like this, but I really don't care.

Hate our owners, I actually despise them, clueless non-footballing people who really don't have any purpose but to waste money.

Jim I wouldn't tell you to go support another club I would suggest you give up watching football ! Would be interested to see your list of owners who are capable of bankrolling a Premiership side and who claim to know that much about football. They employ people who supposedly do. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it wrong.

MartyFFC

Overall I'm happier with this team than I've been for a long time. Watching us under Parker was genuinely depressing, and I very much prefer winning 4-1 and 5-1 at Birmingham and Huddersfield with an erratic performance like Coventry; than a couple of turgid 1-0 wins like we would've probably got under the mannequin

This was the time that I loved the club the most and my loyalty was at its strongest.
I started watching Fulham in the late 60s and, even when we were 91st in the league and losing 2-1 at Torquay United, I was still on the TBT coach to Doncaster Rovers the following Tuesday and this made the following promotion season incredibly special, not 1975 special, that was different, but close. The fact that promotion was won by a novice manager with a team of journeymen and free transfers made it a far greater achievement in my eyes than anything that has been achieved since the money arrived at the club.
Having spent more than 25 years going home and away supporting the team win, lose or draw, I stopped in 1997.
I am fully aware that I am in a tiny minority and I still follow everything that's going on at the club and want the team to do well, but I have lost the love that I had when even a draw was seen as success and travelling to Oldham in midweek was something to look forward to.

There is a difference between a low point when the club is broke and expectations are just of survival and when the cub has money and expectations are of the premier league.

grandad

I would rather the Khans are our owners than perhaps any other . If you don´t like them , put up the money to buy them out. We would soon be a yo-yo club between League 2 & the National League.
