since 2000.

Going to put our 'best' team together purely on the amount of games they played for us.

Up first, Brede Hangeland - 281 games CB

Luis Boa Morte - 250 games, Winger

Aaron Hughes - 238 games, CB

Maik Taylor - 235 games, GK

Clint Dempsey - 230 games, CM

Rufus Brevett - 217 games, LB

Barry Hayles - 214 games, FWD

Steed Malbranque - 211 games, AM/Wing

Danny Murphy - 210 games, CM

Steve Finnan - 209 games, RB

Sean Davis - 198 games, MF

GK - Maik Taylor

Rb - Steve Finnan

CB - Hangeland and Hughes

LB - Brevett

LW - Boa

CM - Murphy

CM - Sean Davis

AM - Dempsey?

RW - Malbranque

FWD - Hayles

SUBS

Mark Schwarzer - 221 games, GK
Andy Melville 193 games, CB
Zat Knight - 181 games, CB
Lee Clark - 178 games, CM
Damien Duff - 173 games, LW
Simon Davies - 169 games, RW
Tom Cairney - 169 games, CM
.

I made the team with the intention of putting the most capped players in the team and making the formation from that for each position but had hoped to make it a 4-4-2, but given the players and games played, it looks like we're best suited to a 4-5-1 layout. This means Cairney goes onto the subs bench and Sean Davis makes up a three man CM of Davis, Murphy and Dempsey.

I do believe Cairney has played over 200 games for us, no?
Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

Only if you include his games as a substitute I think.
Interesting though that ant of those players with over 200 matches for us would command a place in this season's team.

General I reckon you can still get them into a 4-4-2 no? Dempsey played enough games up front in the end that you'd be forgiven for putting him next to Barry.

I don't know why, but I'm a bit surprised that it's a very decent team.

Lighthouse

I was looking form John Marshall who played over 400 games for us. But I guess that although he played well into the 90s he did begin in the early Eighties. He was always a handy player to have around because he could play anywhere.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Hold your horses, the initial post clearly said players from the year 2000.
If we go back into the last century we have a whole new ball game.

We do. But I'm more familiar with players from 2000.

Obviously feel welcome to do an overall one too.

There's a list of players that have over 100 caps for us on Wikipedia.

Brian Mcbride?

140 appearances.

Interestingly, and it's gone a bit under the radar at the club and amongst fans, but based on the stats on Wikipedia I was referring to, Tim Ream, apparently just last match went ahead of Mcbride in terms of number of appearances for Fulham. So a significant connection especially with them both being US players.
