When I moved here many years ago I thought about becoming a cabbie but having made enquires decided against it and nothing I see these days would change my mind , often see taxi's sat around with no work and I know a cabbie who is struggling but that is  in Newton Abbot, Exeter is obviously a lot busier .
My son is in the retail motor trade in Exeter but is looking to get out of it as are many of his colleagues, I'll ask him about the delivery side of it.
There seems to be work for multi drop as some have ads on their vans for drivers.
Good luck in you search, should I see hear of anything I'll let you know.

There seems to be a desperate shortage of PSV drivers in Exeter. Evidenced yesterday by park and ride running at hourly rather than 20 minute frequency. They also advertise training given.

Someone I know is an independent taxi driver in Newton and has plenty of work (mostly regulars though and it takes a while to build those up).

Many thanks.... I think the cab trade may be similar everywhere.....it depends on your overheads....many thanks for the help with asking around

Many thanks.... I think PSV maybe a bit to much for me..... I'm looking in the Teignbridge/Exeter area.... apparently Torbay are crying out for cab driver's, but that'll probably be to far away..... I will have very small overheads..... Now thinking aloud, not sure if I could work for a company

As I understood it work in Devon and Cornwall was always hard to find at this time of the year (out of season) . I would expect those jobs to be snapped up pretty quickly.

Airport runs - Bristol/Gatwick/Heathrow? There is a good coach service to Bristol but the others are sods to get to.

Interesting to know as I'm a bus driver , brother in law relocated down to Bovey Tracey three years ago & is always trying to get us to move down there.

I like Bovey. There was just one bus on each of the three park and ride routes yesterday where there should be three. Maybe they've gone off HGV-ing. Normally it's a good service but my partner was right put off by it and is even threatening to drive into Exeter another time - not a nice experience.

Unless they're artics, I can't imagine there's much difference apart from no passengers.

He loves it, he actually drives a Tesco delivery van. Lovely place on edge of Dartmoor & close enough to Exeter & Plymouth if you can't shake the townie feeling

Funny thing is, I looked at a house on the Haytor road out of Bovey for my last move but thought it was a bit suburban!
