At the half way point we have the same goal difference as champions Norwich had at the end of last season. They had the highest GD.

It's interesting to note that in the last ten seasons the team with the best goal difference was automatically promoted 9 times. The other team was Brentford that we beat in the playoff final.

GD is a very good yardstick of overall performance and where you'll finish in the table.

In 2016-17, Huddersfield were promoted by winning the play-offs, despite finishing 5th with a goal difference of -2. I wonder how many times that has happened.
