Highway Code change's....not sure how that's going to work in London - it's a free for all...

All comes into force this weekend, still no provision for privately owned e scooters

I'm guessing Devon roads will be calmer...that is - until I arrive

The crazy cab driver increases Devon's insurance rates by 50%.

After over 30 years in USA I will be back in UK next month for about a year.  I think I will stick to walking, bus and train. Don't want to risk the roads with the crazy Brit drivers.

The emphasis is on who's insured, not the actual road user

The cart should be ok. It's the horse 🐴 that I would be more worried about

I hope these rules do not effect my Horse and Cart.

What makes it more worrying is the horse only comes out after dark, it's a nightmare.

When I go to cross a road now, I see confusion in the drivers eyes...

Scary Panorama recently.

Hardly any traffic cops left. Many, all in some areas, speed cameras no longer working - lack of  funding stopped them being updated  10 years ago.

Rise in drink driving accidents, with fewer convictions.

Smart motorways are highly dangerous, with the essential technology to prevent accidents if you break down often non existent, and not enough safety places, they are death traps.

I was hit by vehicles  when riding my bike during the first lockdown twice in the space of a few weeks - the first time I've ever been struck by a vehicle in all my years of  cycling.

I was very lucky. Once was sideways by a bus, trying to pass me on an empty main road narrowed by a traffic island, and I was blinded by the sun as he came past with  inches to spare - so maybe partially at fault - though the driver could have easily waited  seconds for me to clear the island, then could have overtaken easily.

The second, was even more scary, on a empty rural road, crossing a t junction with the right of way, a taxi came  flying out of the side road as if from nowhere, to hit me side on. But luckily for me just  hit my back wheel.
I was very visible, and it was light anyway. Must have been on his phone as these private company cab drivers often are.

I walked away from both  accidents with only cuts and bruises, and needing a new back wheel after the second.

But I definitely feel more wary on the roads now. They say they want to encourage cycling, but i don't blame people for being too scared to do it.

As long as you don't make a Ewe turn, a bit close to Wales in Devon and all those sheep.

[/quote] And most of the cyclists I see don't stop at red lights even when people are crossing the road, go on pavements so they avoid red lights and weave in an out of traffic.

Cyclists now allowed to undertake on the inside.... it's called undertaker for a reason.....lorries can't see me with a bleeding yellow light in - how they going to see a cyclist without light's

If all road users used the roads correctly then there would be far few accidents. From cyclists not stopping, pedestrians just walking across the road without looking and motorists driving in the middle lane on an empty motorway everybody has to take personal responsibility for what they do.

That's the point.... it's only the insured that will be liable

and, members on here excluded obviously, ride the wrong way down one-way street, 2 or more abreast on narrow roads. Basically, there are good an bad road users of all kinds, though cyclist and motorcyclists have a higher likelihood of serious injury, way above a car driver spilling his/her coffee.
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.
