Dundee United announce signing of Kevin McDonald – who could be in line for derby debut

Dundee United have announced the signing of ex-Fulham and Dundee midfielder Kevin McDonald.

The 33-year-old has trained with United in January and impressed Tam Courts enough to earn a deal.

He will now play out the rest of the season with the Tangerines.

McDonald could make his United debut against the club where he started his career in tonight's Dundee derby.

The Carnoustie-born player was a free agent after leaving Fulham in the summer after a kidney transplant.

In October, he went back to train with Dundee to build up his fitness before joining United's training sessions in St Andrews.

He also spent time with Tayside rivals St Johnstone, but it is United who have secured his services.

The five-time Scotland capped star came through the Dens Park ranks before securing a move to England with Burnley.

He enjoyed an impressive career down south, collectively clocking up hundreds of appearances for the Clarets, Sheffield United and Wolves before joining Fulham, where his dominant midfield performances made him a hero to fans.

What's former Fulham man Alexander Kačaniklić up to these days?

Ex-Fulham man Alexander Kačaniklić spent a total of six years on the books at Craven Cottage, but what's the winger up to these days?

The Swedish International started his youth career in his native country with Helsingborgs IF and was picked up by Liverpool in 2007 aged 16.

First-team opportunities were hard to come by for Kačaniklić and he moved to Fulham in 2010, making the jump up to the first-team in 2012. He was part of the deal that saw defender Paul Konchesky move in the opposite direction and team up with former Fulham manager Roy Hodgson.

Still at a young age, the winger spent loan spells at Watford and Burnley to gain experience and would break into the Fulham side a year later. Kačaniklić played 100 times for Fulham and managed 11 goals and nine assists, with his most memorable goals coming against Norwich City in a 5-0 win and scoring at the Emirates in a 3-3 draw with Arsenal.

Having spent six years at the club, Kačaniklić left Fulham in 2016 and tried his luck in France with top-flight side Nantes. He featured 31 times for the club, scoring no goals but providing four assists.

Following his unsuccessful spell, he moved back to Sweden and signed for Hammarby IF. In the 2019 season, he played 25 games and scored 10 goals. Kačaniklić enjoyed another successful season and then signed for Croatian side Hajduk Split.

He has been at the club since last summer and has made 24 appearances, scoring two goals.

Kačaniklić has featured 21 times for his country, making his debut in 2012. He has scored three goals, making his last appearance in 2020.

Riverside Survey

As we look forward to the opening of the new Riverside Stand next season, we know from our regular discussions with the Club that they have begun planning for the return of displaced season ticket holders from the Putney and Hammersmith ends.

It is clear that this will be a difficult process and we will work with the Club to try to help them find the best way forward, whilst recognising that there is unlikely to be a perfect solution.

We would very much like to understand the priorities of displaced Riversiders and have put together a short survey which we would be grateful if you could complete by Monday 7th February by clicking the button below.

FST Riverside Stand Survey

Although this is most relevant to returning Riversiders, if you are considering moving from another part of the ground we would also like to hear your views. Note that this is primarily about allocation of seats rather than facilities available in the stand.

Please do pass this on to any Riversiders you may know. Thank you.

'Disgrace' - Nottingham Forest fans go ballistic at Fulham fixture change

The Reds are trying to challenge for promotion to the Premier League and are just outside the play-off positions

Nottingham Forest fans have reacted furiously after their Championship clash against title-chasing Fulham was moved to an 8pm kick-off on Saturday night.

In the latest round of TV fixtures to be announced by Sky Sports, the trip to Craven Cottage is one of three Reds games to be screened live with the other being the game at Sheffield United which has been moved to Friday, March 4.

A home game against Queens Park Rangers, which was set to take place on Tuesday March 15, has been pushed back to Wednesday March 16 with a 7.45pm

Forest head to Fulham on March 19 and fans have not taken kindly to the news amid a strong reaction on social media.

Here's what some fans had to say.

Adam: "What a disgrace."

Dan: "It's all about money and never about the fans."

Ryan Wise: "There isn't even a train back to Nottingham after the game."

Andy Middleton: "So Fulham away now 8pm KO thanks to Sky."

Charlie Taphouse: "8pm on a Saturday in London. What a joke."

Giuseppe: " @SkySports are an absolute joke - Fulham 8pm away in London on a Saturday - thanks for messing up getting back on the train to Nottingham!!!!"

I totally agree with them. If you are coming down to London and you have booked into a hotel you might like to go to the theatre in the evening or something else. You certainly don't want to watch your team take a beating and not be able to at least have a good evening afterwards. I hope Forrest are laying on some coaches afterwards

It's really annoying when this happens and expensive changing travel arrangements.

"Harvey Elliott's transfer cost a record fee for a 16-year-old after going through a tribunal when Liverpool signed him from Fulham in a deal which eventually set them back £4.3m.

However, Liverpool could yet avoid that possibility by sealing a deal for Cavalho on a pre-contract agreement".

If the Scousers are bulking at £4.3m then they don't deserve to sign him.
