Nick Pope Burnley transfer stance amid £20million Fulham links and contract talks

Burnley goalkeeper is currently on international duty with England

Burnley would be reluctant sellers of goalkeeper Nick Pope if any interest materailised in the summer transfer window.

The Clarets are fighting to stay in the top flight and are four points from safety with 11 games remaining of the Premier League season.

Pope has been a mainstay in the Burnley side since displacing Tom Heaton as first choice and the 29-year-old is currently away with England and is set to feature in Tuesday night's friendly against the Ivory Coast.

The Clarets are keen to tie down Pope to a new contract, who has 12 months to run on his deal with Burnley having an option of another year, and it is understood that initial discussions have been taking place during this season.

But no decision is expected to be taken in the coming weeks and relegation would obviously change the picture for Pope, who has designs on making Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad this summer.

Burnley are in a strong negotiating position with their goalkeeper and would want £20million for the star stopper.

The Sun are reporting that Fulham, who are set to return to the top flight, are keen on Pope and that they feel they could strike a lower price should the Clarets go down.

Burnley would be unlikely to stand in Pope's way if they did go down and a Premier League club came in but the price would need to be right.

It remains to be seen whether the financial picture at Turf Moor would prompt a firesale of top talent should Burnley drop into the second tier but the Clarets would only be willing to sell Pope at a price that reflected his position as one of the best keepers in the country.

His shot stopping and ability to deal with crosses is exceptional and while his kicking remains a weakness, he has been a consistent performer in the Premier League.

Burnley have Wayne Hennessey as an experienced back-up option while Bailey Peacock-Farrell is a potential long term solution with the Northern Ireland No.1 currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday in League One.

Sean Dyche's side return to action against Man City at Turf Moor on Saturday as they seek to clamber out of trouble.

Napoli want a discount on Fulham loanee Anguissa

Napoli want to keep André Zambo Anguissa but they'd prefer to pay a lower fee to Fulham for his signature.

The 26-year-old Cameroonian midfielder joined Luciano Spalletti's side on a season-long loan deal with a €15m buy option attached last summer and he's quickly implanted himself in the first team, being a key part of the midfield.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Napoli do want to sign Anguissa this summer but they don't want to pay the €15m agreed with Fulham last summer in the loan deal. Instead, they'd prefer to obtain a discount or a least a way to defer payment.

The chances of the former Villarreal player staying in the Campania capital are high and it's clear that he's very happy playing under Spalletti.

Anguissa has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season for Napoli, for a total of 1741 minutes. In that time, he's helped the side keep nine clean sheets.

The table that puts Coventry City above Nottingham Forest and Fulham and in league of their own

The Sky Blues have enjoyed their fair share of late drama this season

Coventry City have a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of a Championship play-off spot, but the table could be looking far different if only stoppage time goals counted.

The Sky Blues find themselves 11th in the standings, six points adrift of the top six, and face a crucial run-in with fixtures against Blackburn Rovers (6th), Nottingham Forest (9th), Fulham (1st), Bournemouth (2nd) and Huddersfield Town (4th) coming up.

When it comes down to late goals, however, Mark Robins ' side would be barely sweating over the promotion race; in fact, the Sky Blues would be nine points clear of third place.

If the league table was determined by only goals scored in second-half stoppage time, the Sky Blues would be atop the Championship with 59 points. Nottingham Forest (49), Luton Town (47), Fulham (45), Cardiff City (44) and Hull City (44) would fill the rest of the top six.

Robins' side have scored nine goals after the 90 minute mark and have won each game when they have done so. The Sky Blues have yet to concede a goal in second half stoppage-time.

Such an amount of late goals shows the Sky Blues just do not know when they are beaten and are determined to rise as high as possible up the table. Only Forest (17) and Fulham (18) have scored more goals than the Sky Blues (15) in the final 15 minutes of matches

That astonishing record of late goals began for the Sky Blues on the opening day of the Championship season when Robins' side scored in the 81st and 96th minutes to come from behind and beat Forest 2-1 at the CBS Arena.

The Sky Blues also repeated the feat at Bournemouth in November as Matty Godden scored on 85 minutes and Todd Kane on 95 minutes.

Details emerge highlighting problems Fulham will face to seal transfer for £20m-rated target

Burnley are looking to agree a new contract with Nick Pope and they are not keen on losing the keeper after reports of Fulham's interest.

The 29-year-old has been a reliable performer for the Clarets over the years, with his performances earning him international recognition as well.

However, there are doubts about Pope's long-term future and The Sun have claimed the keeper is a priority for the Cottagers if they win promotion back to the Premier League, which seems inevitable.

Yet, doing a deal for the former Charlton stopper won't be easy, as Lancashire Live have revealed that talks have taken place about agreeing a new contract with Pope, who has just over 12 months left on his current deal, with Burnley having the option to extend that by another year.

As well as that, the update states Sean Dyche's side would be 'reluctant sellers', so it would need to be a suitable offer if they are to survive.

But, relegation from the Premier League could change the situation for Burnley, who may then have to consider cashing in on the 7-cap England international.

The verdict

It's no surprise to see Burnley are looking to agree fresh terms with Pope because he has been superb for them since signing.

Similarly, if they do stay up, you would expect Dyche will be desperate to keep such a key figure and it will be hard for Fulham to get a deal done.

So, this could depend on whether Burnley do get relegated, and if they do drop down, you can be sure that there will be plenty of interest in Pope, meaning a deal won't be straightforward for Fulham regardless.

The Fulham youngsters who will be eyeing a breakthrough season in 22/23

Fulham have had an excellent season and are on course for a return to the Premier League in style.

As well as picking up positive results consistently, Marco Silva has built a team that plays good football, whilst he's also incorporated some exciting young talents in the XI.

Fabio Carvalho is the standout player in that respect, with the midfielder destined to play at the highest level, with a transfer move to Liverpool expected to be on the cards again in the summer.

However, he isn't the only highly-rated youngster that has come through at Craven Cottage, and here we look at TWO more who could breakthrough next season...

Tyrese Francois

Firstly, Fulham need to sort a new deal with the midfielder, as his current contract expires in the summer and there are doubts about whether he will sign.

But, Silva is a massive fan of the player, as he recently claimed that he was the youngster that has impressed him most after Carvalho. Even though you would expect the boss to big up someone he wants to sign a new deal, it is telling that he is so complimentary of Francois.

Having come through the ranks as a kid, the 21-year-old clearly feels he is ready to make the step up and will be frustrated that opportunities haven't come his way.

If he does play, he has the qualities to thrive in Silva's attack-minded approach and it will be interesting to see where his next step is.

Jay Stansfield

Fulham bought the striker from Exeter in 2019 and there has been a hope that he will be able to kick on.

Now 19, the youngster will feel he is getting close to making his mark on the first-team, having improved his physicality and tactical understanding recently.

Of course, making the transition from the U23s to potentially the Premier League will be a huge ask but Stansfield does have quality, which is why he has represented England at various youth levels.

Again, he is someone who should benefit from the style of play that Silva has introduced at the club.

Report: New club now wants to sign 'incredible' Tottenham and Newcastle target this summer

Promotion-chasing side Fulham could make a move for Manchester United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, with the Cottagers inching ever closer to sealing a return to the top flight.

According to a report from TeamTalk, which cites The Sun, Fulham are looking for a new goalkeeper if and when they are promoted and have identified Nick Pope as their number one target. However, it's claimed that Henderson is also under consideration, after previously being thought of in terms of a loan move.

Henderson has endured a disappointing season with Manchester United and is behind David De Gea in the pecking order yet again. This, despite staying on and signing fresh terms on the premise he might get more first-team chances.

The former Sheffield United loanee is a wanted man already. Reports have claimed both Newcastle and Tottenham want to sign Henderson, who is said to be open to moving on permanently this summer.

Previously labelled as 'incredible' by Jose Mourinho, Henderson has proven himself at Premier League level before and even got into the England squad. But with others now ahead of him, he'll need to be a number one somewhere if he's to force his way back into the Three Lions' plans.

TBR's View: Henderson Ideal For Any Of The Clubs Mentioned

You don't become a bad goalkeeper just because you can't usurp someone at Manchester United. Dean Henderson is more than capable at this level and he'd be fine at any of Tottenham, Newcastle, or even Fulham.

He shone while with Sheffield United and it's easy to see why Fulham like him. Further, Burnley are likely to want big money for Pope, who is also an established number one and older than Henderson.

Therefore, there is potentially more upside in signing Henderson. Potential, a hunger to prove people wrong, and experience at this level already, there is a lot to like about the Old Trafford man.

Fulham agree academy collaboration with Ternana

Fulham have signed an academy development partnership agreement with Italian side Ternana Calcio.

The link-up, confirmed by Fulham's head of football development Huw Jennings in an interview on the club's official website this afternoon, is Fulham's third such arrangement following partnerships formed with Dundee United and Croatian outfit Gorica earlier this season.

Ternana, based in Umbria, were promoted into Serie B last season and have battled back from Italian football's regional divisions after going bankrupt in 1993. Jennings told FFCTV:

"We have been in discussions with Serie B side Ternana Calcio. They are a really interesting team, with a really progressive owner, who has got education interests in this country as well. I can confirm that both parties have agreed to sign what is now our third partnership. There's a number of progressive opportunities of associating with a club in Italy."

Fresh update emerges in Liverpool's pursuit of Fulham ace

Liverpool have come to an agreement in principle to sign Fulham's Fabio Carvalho, as per a report from Football Insider.

Carvalho, who narrowly missed out on a move to Anfield in January, has netted seven times and provided a further six assists in 27 games for the Whites this Championship season.

Proving to be one of the most exciting prospects in the game at present, Carvalho has looked a level above in Fulham colours throughout this second-tier campaign thus far.

The report states that the Reds have 'recommended negotiations with Carvalho and have an agreement with him' for when his contract expires at the end of this campaign.

Personal terms have also been agreed with the exciting attacker, and whilst it will be a free transfer, his move is set to generate a significant compensation fee for development costs.

The verdict

This appears to be a significant update in Liverpool's pursuit of the 19-year-old, with the Reds tracking his progress for a long time now.

Possessing ability in abundance and an extremely high ceiling, Carvalho is certainly one of the brightest prospects in the English game at present and could reach unimaginable heights at Liverpool.

This will of course be a big loss at Fulham, with the young attacker making excellent strides in becoming an integral first-teamer during a season where it is looking increasingly likely that the Cottagers will secure promotion.

Fulham are still set to generate a healthy enough fee for his expected departure, something that could aid their summer recruitment with the Premier League bound to be on their minds.

Nick Pope to Fulham: Is it a good potential move? Would he start? What does he offer?

Fulham have been credited with an interest in Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, as per a report from The Sun.

Pope, 29, has again featured regularly for the Premier League outfit this season, keeping seven clean sheets in 25 top-tier appearances thus far.

The experienced shot-stopper is currently on international duty with England and could be involved in Tuesday night's clash with the Ivory Coast.

Pope, who has now kept 45 clean sheets in 130 Premier League matches, is not the only target that The Sun have claimed Fulham are looking at, with Manchester United's Dean Henderson also on the radar.

Is it a good potential move?
It certainly has the potential to be, whilst Fulham have been a level above for the majority of the campaign, Pope adds regular top-flight experience and has all the necessary attributes to thrive at Craven Cottage.

With Fulham edging closer to a Premier League return, and Burnley perhaps heading for top-tier relegation, this is a potential move that could see Pope continuing to operate in England's highest-tier, something that would bolster his chances for international selection with the World Cup coming this year.

Would he start?
If they were to bring in a player of Pope's quality and reputation then it would be strange if the Cottagers viewed him as a deputy option.

Marek Rodak has not done much to suggest that he would not be able to handle the step back up to the Premier League, enjoying a consistent campaign at Craven Cottage.

And whilst competition levels would likely be high at Craven Cottage next season with the addition of Pope, it would likely be the 29-year-old who comes out on top more font than not.

What does he offer?
Ultimately, Pope's shot-stopping abilities and reactions are what has helped pave his way into the England set up and continue featuring regularly for Burnley.

He is also someone who has accumulated lots of Premier League experience thus far, something that could play a big role as Fulham attempt to survive the top-tier drop, should they secure promotion first.

Pope has also improved when in possession, proving to be a lot more confident with the ball at his feet, meeting the modern demands of a goalkeeper.
