Fulham: Jean Michael Seri and Alfie Mawson among 14 players released

Seri's first goal of the season came in Fulham's 7-0 thrashing of Luton to clinch the Championship title

Jean Michael Seri, Alfie Mawson and Cyrus Christie are among 14 players released by Fulham.

Seri signed from Nice for £25m in 2018 and played 33 games in the Championship this season as the Cottagers gained promotion to the Premier League.

The Ivory Coast midfielder spent half the 2020-21 season on loan at Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, and the entire campaign before that with Galatasaray.

Centre-back Mawson joined from Swansea in 2018 in a deal worth up to £20m.

Mawson, 28, played 52 times in his four seasons with the London club, but only featured in Marco Silva's line-up six times this campaign.

Defender Christie, 29, joined Championship rivals Swansea on loan in January having found his playing time limited to one appearance for Fulham this season.

He featured in two play-off final wins among his 68 appearances for the Cottagers, as they were promoted to the Premier League in 2018 and 2020.

The 11 other players released from Craven Cottage are Fabri, Michael Hector, Timmy Abraham, Jacob Adams, Eric Ameyaw, Xavier Benjamin, Tyler Caton, Jerome Opoku, Jonathon Page, Julian Schwarzer and Jaylan Wildbore.

Sonny Hilton, Idris Odutayo and Adrion Pajaziti have signed new contracts until summer 2023, while negotiations are ongoing with Tyrese Francois, Steven Sessegnon, Taye Ashby-Hammond, Imani Lanquedoc, Georgios Okkas, Ollie O'Neill, Oliver Sanderson and Jay Williams.

Fulham Bound Goalie Strakosha Says Goodbye to Lazio

Thomas Strakosha has played his final game with Lazio as his contract runs out in June. The goalkeeper is in advanced talks to join Fulham on a free transfer. The Cottagers will be back in Premier League next season after winning the Championship.

The Albanian international bid farewell to the team's radio (via Goal): "I wish to thank the club. I owe my growth to the management, the fans, the staff, and all my teammates from the youth system to today. I came here as a kid, and I leave as a man. All good things and have a beginning and an end, and it was a beautiful journey. I hope to fuel the ambitions of the youngsters that are in the academy since I managed to make it to the first team. Playing in the Champions League was the fulfillment of my dream."

Strakosha will leave Lazio after ten years, where he has featured in 208 matches and kept 62 clean sheets. He had to compete for the starting job with Pepe Reina in the last two seasons. Therefore, he decided not to re-up his expiring contract. According to Sky Sport, he will pen a four-year deal with Fulham.

The Biancocelesti will look for a new shot-stopper in the summer. They covet Atalanta loanee Marco Carnesecchi, but the two sides are distant on his price tag, Corriere dello Sport informs. Sergio Rico and Granada's Luis Maximiano are also on their radar. Reina should bolt as well and be replaced by Ivan Provedel, Il Messaggero informs.

Fulham confirm Christie departure – Mawson released too

Fulham have confirmed that they will be releasing Cyrus Christie as he reaches the end of his contract with former Swansea defender Alfie Mawson also released.

Both players are among 14 players released by Fulham following their promotion back to the Premier League.

Mawson joined Fulham back in the summer of 2018 for a deal worth up to £20m and played 52 times in his four seasons with the London club, but only featured in Marco Silva's line-up six times this campaign.

Christie on the other hand was loaned to the Swans in January and Russell Martin is said to be keen to bring him to SA1 on a permanent basis although he is also quoted as saying that the two parties are someway apart on finances.

Christie featured in two play-off final wins among his 68 appearances for the Cottagers, as they were promoted to the Premier League in 2018 and 2020, both seasons being followed by an immediate relegation.

Swans Chief Executive Julian Winter has stated that two central defenders and a right wing back are on the agenda for the Swans this summer and you cannot help but wonder if the name of Alfie Mawson may be under discussion as part of that summer transfer plans?
