I think that if an extended period of silence and respect could be guaranteed at sporting events then they should go ahead but a minority are always likely to be disrespectful in one way or another.

All matches were called off the weekend after Diana died. Granted, her death was unexpected, but even so, I would not be surprised if it was called off this weekend. We will have to wait and see.

He died on Jan 24, a Sunday.
Jan 30 was the State Funeral. A full football programme (it was the FA Cup 4th round, so Fulham had no match having been ko'd by Millwall). There were crowds of 44,000 at WHL and over 50,000 at Anfield.
