Mitro in doubt for Palace on BBC

I have to be honest......very very concerned about these next two games.  Just don't like our chances, now with Mitrovic and Robinson likely not starting and the weak cover we have at these positions.  Boy, I hope I'm wrong!!!  And MS can pull a rabbit out of his football hat.  These next two games FFC should be looking at max points, these are the type of games and opponents a mid table side should be looking to win.  As others have posted in this forum, I hope this is not the beginning of a grueling relegation scenario.  Up to this point and until word of these possible injuries has come out, I had been relatively confident in FFC staying up this season and quite possibly finding themselves mid table.  Now, not so sure.  Palace game will be big indicator.

I wonder if he was given pain killers/injection to get through the World Cup . Bit odd that he was fit for the Swiss game and at the end of the game. But after 2 weeks rest is injured

I wonder if other team supporters around us are having the same thoughts?

Can we be realistic (whatever happened to him?) for a moment.
Our complete reliance on Mitro isn't some new issue or problem. It has existed for many years & to be blunt we play a system that focuses on Mitro, his style of play & his capabilities. Heavily criticised for his lack of goals over two previous seasons in the Premiership he has proved his doubters wrong this season.
However, we have never addressed or resolved the solution (whatever that might be) of a good enough playing partner or substitute for Mitro. Never!
I've  no idea why we have failed so dismally in this respect. Exactly what efforts have been made to resolve it? Nothing tangible.
Marco wanted, nay demanded cover & good competition for ALL team positions. We aren't yet near this position.
Mitro is injured & not fit to play as we would wish or like.
The World Cup is over, FFC face a huge dog fight to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
Most Premiership teams will have rested, re grouped & re focused for the remainder of the season.
We are in the mix along with the rest.
I just hope we have a plan B Or C to flick over to.
With or without Mitro please can we salvage 3 points @ Palace on Boxing Day.
Let the fighting spirit of George Cohen be with us!

I'm not so sure why a draw away, at a very team, would be the end of the world?
Even a loss at this stage, it's like the first game of the season in a way, would not be the end of the world. There a long way to go and we are (at last) competitive in this division!

Without Mitro we gave Man U a good run for their money. We are not a one man team.

If you'd been in a coma for the first 15 games and came back and read this thread before checking the table, you'd be forgiven for thinking we were 19th not 9th

As has been said many times before, it's very hard to get a premier league level striker who's willing to sit on the bench and wait for the odd game when Mitro is injured. So we have had to go for Vinicius level players, who look promising, look like they might do a job, don't cost a fortune in transfer fees and wages, and are willing to bide their time for an opportunity to shine.

Whilst I have said something similar last week I suppose, to be fair to Marco, the signing of Vinicius was meant to be the cover for Mitro and the former Benfica player would have been well known to Silva. Moreover his scoring record is not at all bad...just that on initial viewing he has been underwhelming. As for Mitro it may not be the foot problem now but his general fitness. He was injured in late September - that's a long time with a significant loss of training time...dunno

Don't let common sense get in the way of a good old fashion rant at the club though!

We'll, I'm very unhappy/suspicious that Mitro was injured playing for his country, came back unable to play for us , is then ok to play for Serbia again, bu5 comes back with the same foot injury ruling him out for us. Serbian management and medical team should be investigated risking our prize asset in this way.

Going to suggest you didn't watch the game last weekend then where Vinicuis was more than capable?

I did not, and I judge no one on how they perform in friendlies, especially during a weird, six week long winter World Cup break. Seen him already a few times in the Prem, didn't seem to be a good fit. Hope he can prove me wrong.
People just writing him off cos he hasn't scored yet, he was very unlucky not to off against Man City and scored a cracking header in the last friendly
He's a very good footballer and should not be written off, give his time FFS

Serbia were always gonna F us
Zero respect towards the club he plays for and the club who pays his wages
Saying that Mitro should know better too

Maybe I'm clutching at a single straw but I understand that Marco hasn't said Mitro will definitely miss Palace, only that he is a doubt.

To my mind and in view of recent happenings that almost certainly means we are not going to see a 100% fit Mitro on the pitch for 90 minutes.
So wish I were wrong.

Confident 3 pionts from the next 2 games at least.
