You could say Sunderland paid the price... for taking it too seriously.

Ross Stewart may have another extended spell on the sidelines, having just come back from a serious injury... in a season when the play offs are up for grabs... Middlesbro now in third having come from nowhere, and Sunderland had just beaten them... massive blunder by Mowbray in sticking with the same players... underlines that you have to chop and change in the cups, the game is very different from the 60s, 70s and 80s... maybe Mowbray will see sense in the replay.

The way Stewart went down, as though he had been shot, suggested to me it was his Achilles. I know from painful experience. If so he could be out for some time

Massive blunder?  Do you know that Sunderland have a lot of injuries, until Joe Gelhard joined on loan from Leeds late on Friday Stewart was their only striker?
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Instead, I say give Mowbray and Sunderland some credit. To me, the FA Cup is a very important, prestigious and historic competition. All teams should take it seriously and it would be better for the domestic game as a whole. I've got an old fashioned romantic view but I enjoy the FA Cup and wish first choice teams could be selected.

If you bring 5500 fans down to the Cottage from Sunderland it would be disrespectful/insulting not to play your best 11
