LUKIĆ JOINS FULHAM

The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Saša Lukić from Torino for an undisclosed fee.

A midfielder who is comfortable operating anywhere through the centre of the pitch, Lukić has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal, with a Club option to extend by a further 12 months.

Speaking in Turin following the completion of the deal, the 26-year-old said: "I'm very happy to have signed, and to now be a part of Fulham's squad.

"I can't wait to get started and meet with the Head Coach, the players, and the staff, and I'm looking forward to training with them when I arrive in England.

"I've seen Fulham play this season and they've been playing very well. They have a good squad, with a great history.

"A lot of great players have played for the Club in its history, and they have a lot of great players currently, like my compatriot Aleksandar Mitrović."

Tony Khan added: "I'm delighted to welcome Saša Lukić to Fulham. He's a talented and versatile midfielder whom we've followed closely for years.

"Saša's arrival will strengthen our team; I'm glad that he's come to Fulham, and I expect he'll flourish in our squad under the great coaching of Marco Silva!

"Come on Fulham!"

Following in the footsteps of his compatriot Mitrović, Lukić progressed through Partizan's youth setup, getting a first taste of senior football with their affiliate club Teleoptik in 2013/14, scoring three goals in 21 appearances as a 17-year-old.

Back at Partizan, he helped the team to a second place finish in the Serbian SuperLiga, with his performances attracting the attentions of Torino who brought him to Italy in the summer of 2016.

After helping Il Toro to a ninth place Serie A finish in his maiden campaign, Lukić got experience of another country under his belt when he headed to Levante on loan.

It had looked as though Levante were at risk of relegation from La Liga, but eight wins from their final 11 matches meant they comfortably survived.

Lukić featured in six of those eight victories – 18 times in total – setting up a last minute winner against Malaga, as well as assisting in their famous 5-4 triumph over Barcelona, the only league defeat suffered by the Catalan side all season.

Having returned to Torino, Lukić was mainly used as a substitute in the first few months of 2018/19, before establishing himself as a regular starter in the second half of the campaign. He scored his first goals for the club in a draw with Juventus and victory over Lazio as they claimed a Europa League spot after finishing seventh in Serie A.

After helping the side preserve their top flight status in the subsequent two seasons, 2021/22 was a superb campaign – both collectively and individually – as Torino finished 10th and Lukić registered five goals and four assists in 35 league matches.

He departs Turin with the club in eighth position, and has 14 goals to his name in his 168 appearances.

Making his senior debut for Serbia in the Nations League in September 2018, Lukić is now a mainstay in his nation's midfield, securing 35 caps and starting all of their matches at the 2022 World Cup.

Great business!

Feel a little sorry for Reed - almost certain Lukic will be replacing him.

But what a terrifyingly good partnership Lukic and Palhinha could be!

Shaping up to be the strongest squad we've ever had in the Premier League.

20 Goals and Assists for Torino

Noticed he scored with both feet too which is another good sign. Some from distance which suggests genuine ability and strength with both feet which can obviously be useful in and around tight situations in general play.

My Italian brother in law says he has been one of Torino's best players this season and been very good in Serie A. Let's hope he is right!

That's our new penalty taker sorted and nice to see we've got a genuine upgrade at CM

Interestingly on the official article it says 'Speaking in Turin following the completion of the deal, the 26-year-old said: "I'm very happy to have signed, and to now be a part of Fulham's squad.'

It's been apparently known that he was in England today, so if that's the case then it'd seem the deal was potentially done and dusted yesterday!?

He will have to earn the right to play ahead of Reed, as Diop did against Tosin. Don't expect Reed to be dropped.

An interview with Lukic's agent for our most famous sports media. He says that Lukic got everything he wanted and that Mitro was key to him signing alongside Marco with whom he had a talk on Sunday and he felt it was the right deal. He had a better offer financially from Bournemouth, but he only wanted Fulham. Also he's highly unlikely to be involved against Chelsea, because he travelled to Paris yesterday to get his Visa sorted.

Looks like in all reality it's a 4 and a half year deal with a club option of an additional year, taking it to a 5 and a half year deal in truth.

Hope he does well! Feel he and Palhinha could be quite the dynamic duo.

No need to feel sorry for Reed. In a 38 game season with 5 subs both will get plenty of game time. If Lukic is good enough to replace them then ultimately its best for fulham
