Manchester City 'learn asking price for Antonee Robinson'

Manchester City reportedly learn what it will take to turn their interest in Fulham defender Antonee Robinson into a summer signing.

Pep Guardiola has made an attempt to refresh his first-team squad at the Etihad Stadium, as well agreeing deals for a number of prospects.

However, left-back has proven to be a problem area, with Benjamin Mendy initially being suspended by the club due to a court case, in which he has been partially acquitted.

Despite that development, the Frenchman is expected to be released by City at the end of the season, and the Premier League giants face further uncertainty on that side of their backline.

Joao Cancelo, who can play on either flank, has departed for Bayern Munich on loan due to alleged frustration over his playing time, while Sergio Gomez has not built on his fast start to life at the club.

Instead, Nathan Ake is being deployed there on a more regular basis, rather than in the centre, and it has highlighted the need for Guardiola to address the situation during the next transfer window.

According to The Sun, the North-West outfit hold an interest in securing a deal for Robinson ahead of 2023-24.

The 25-year-old has overcome the disappointment of missing out on a transfer to AC Milan earlier in his career due to a failed medical to establish himself as a key player for club and country.

Robinson has made 89 appearances for Fulham during two-and-a-half seasons at Craven Cottage, while he played every minute during USA's four matches of the World Cup.

Although Fulham would naturally like to retain the services of Robinson, less than 18 months remain on his contract with the West Londoners.

The report states that Fulham would be prepared to cash in on the attack-minded full-back if they receive an offer in the region of £35m.

While Robinson has admirers in Italy, it is suggested that they are unlikely to be tempted to meet the demand for that level of transfer fee.

As it stands, it is unclear whether Robinson is prepared to consider a contract renewal at Fulham, who are pushing to try to qualify for European football in 2023-24.

Four LFA Nominations

Fulham have representation in four categories at the 2023 London Football Awards.

Aleksandar Mitrović is up for Premier League Player of the Year, while Bernd Leno has been nominated in the Goalkeeping category. Mitro's competition comes from Harry Kane, Bukayo Sako, Ivan Toney and Martin Ødegaard, while Leno is up against Aaron Ramsdale, David Raya, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Lawrence Vigouroux.

Having known only success since joining the Club, it's little surprise that Marco Silva is in contention for Manager of the Year, on a shortlist alongside Mikel Arteta, Emma Hayes, Richie Wellens and Thomas Frank.

Finally, the Fulham FC Foundation will be hoping to bring home the Community Project of the Year trophy for their More Than A Game initiative. Brentford Community Sports Trust and Palace For Life Foundation provide the competition there.

The awards ceremony will take place on Monday 13th March at the Roundhouse in Camden.

Fulham quartet up for London Football Awards honours
Fulham have received four nominations for next month's London Football Awards.

Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Year. The Fulham talismanic will face competition from Tottenham forward Harry Kane, Brentford striker Ivan Toney and Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.

Summer signing Bernd Leno is amongst the big names competing to land the Goalkeeper of the Year award. The German international, since swapping Arsenal for Craven Cottage, joins his former Gunners team-mate Aaron Ramsdale, Brentford's David Raya, the Chelsea custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga and Leyton Orient's number one Lawrence Vigouroux in the running for that accolade.

Head coach Marco Silva has been nominated alongside Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, the Chelsea Ladies supremo Emma Hayes, Orient manager Richie Wellens and Brentford's Thomas Frank as manager of the year.

The Fulham Foundation are in contention for the Community Project of the Year for their More than a Game programme, which raised awareness of mental health in an attempt to remove some of the stigma around discussing struggles faced by football fans. The other nominees in this category came from Brentford Community Sports Trust and Palace For Life Foundation.

The winners will be crowned during the London Football Awards ceremony at the Roundhouse in Camden on Monday 13 March.

Silva to serve touchline ban at Sunderland
Fulham head coach Marco Silva will be banned from the bench at Sunderland in Wednesday night's FA Cup fourth round replay after receiving his fourth booking of the season at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

The Portuguese coach was cautioned by Stuart Attwell with six minutes remaining of Fulham's 0-0 draw with Chelsea, having become frustrated by the fact that a number of cynical challenges from the hosts had not been punished by the match officials. The Fulham boss has been no stranger to confrontations with the officials this season. He was booked at Arsenal – having been incensed by the decision to allow the Gunners' late winner in August – and at West Ham, where Fulham were furious that two blatant handballs were missed before two of the Hammers goals.

Silva was also cautioned after the final whistle at St. James' Park last month, having gone onto the pitch to remonstrate with the officials over their failure to award a penalty and send off Dan Burn during a game that the Whites went on to lose 1-0. Premier League rules were amended in 2019 to formalise the introduction of yellow and red cards for the occupants of the technical area and four bookings triggers an automatic one-match suspension.

Eight yellow cards earns a two-match suspension, whilst repeat offenders are banned for three matches should they reach twelve cautions. A misconduct charge follows sixteen bookings. Silva will watch from the stands at the Stadium of Light, with technical area duties likely to be split between first team coach Stuart Gray and assistant manager Luis Boa Morte.

What happens next for defender Kevin Mbabu at Fulham?

The defender has struggled for game time since making the move to Fulham

Kevin Mbabu is facing an uncertain future at Fulham after failing to secure a move away before the deadline of the January transfer window. He remains at Craven Cottage but has slipped further down the pecking order following Cedric Soares' arrival from Arsenal.

The Switzerland international was expected to head out the exit door last month but is now in limbo. He only made the move to Craven Cottage last summer from Wolfsburg but has made just seven appearances in all competitions.

Mbabu, 27, was linked with a few clubs. TuttoMercatoWeb reported Manchester United and Monza wanted him this winter, whilst Sky Sports claimed teams in France, Germany and from the Championship were monitoring his situation.

He now faces the prospect of five months without game time until the summer unless he takes the chance to leave Fulham as soon as he can. Below is a list of countries where teams can still bring in players...

Australia - A-League - shuts in one day

Turkey - Super Lig - shuts in two days

Croatia - Prva NL - shuts in nine days

Switzerland - Super League - shuts in nine days

China - Super League - shuts in 16 days

There are still options out there for Mbabu if he is still keen to get opportunities elsewhere. A return to Swizterland seems the most likely scenario at this stage out of the above list. He started out at Servette as a youngster and impressed at Young Boys from 2017 to 2019.

The former Newcastle United defender is on Fulham's updated 25-man squad ahead of the second-half of the campaign so can still force his way back into Marco Silva's side. However, that seems unlikely, especially with Kenny Tete is fine form as well.

Inter keeping tabs on Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo

Inter are preparing for the post-Milan Skriniar era and have added Fulham centre back Tosin Adarabioyo to their list of possible replacements, reports detail.

Sunderland AFC news: Pundit predicts Fulham FA Cup game and talks Leeds United possibility
Chris Sutton has predicted the outcome of Sunderland vs Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round.

Sunderland face Fulham in an FA Cup fourth-round replay at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday evening after the first tie was drawn 1-1 at Craven Cottage.

Speaking to the BBC, Sutton predicted a tight game but stated that Ross Stewart's absence could be telling.

"What a story it would have been if Sunderland's 15-year-old midfielder Chris Rigg had not seen his late winner ruled out in the first game - he would have become the youngest-ever goalscorer in the FA Cup.

"It was unfortunate for him, and for Sunderland too because they actually had a real go at Fulham.

"If the Black Cats win this replay they face Leeds, and we get a replay of one of the most famous FA Cup finals in history - from 50 years ago in 1973 when Sunderland goalkeeper Jim Montgomery helped the Second Division side clinch a brilliant victory and Bob Stokoe ran on the pitch to celebrate.

"But it is a big blow for them that striker Ross Stewart is out for the season with an Achilles injury, and Fulham still have to be favourites to progress despite being the away side.

"I think Marco Silva's side should look at the FA Cup as being a real opportunity for them this season, because they are not going to get relegated now - they have not reached the semi-finals since 2002, so why not aim for Wembley?"

Sutton's prediction: 1-2 after extra time

Kenny Tete epitomises Fulham rise as £165m worth of Chelsea talent contained in derby draw

Dutch defender shines at Stamford Bridge in warning to new arrival Cedric Soares

Kenny Tete produced a defensive masterclass to help Fulham earn a 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The son of European heavyweight kickboxing champion Miguel Tete, he channelled intensity and aggressiveness to see off £165million worth of talent in Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke.

Tete kept Mudryk quiet in the first half before the £88.5m signing was substituted at the break. The Ukraine international was struggling with a cold but he failed to have a single shot, create any chances or complete a single dribble on his home debut.

Madueke was brought on in his place and the £29m new signing was next to get little joy out against Tete. The Netherlands right-back was equal to the task, cutting out a well-measured Reece James cross to Madueke.

After the match, the official Chelsea Twitter account posted a picture of James and asked fans to "reply with a better RB".

Fulham's account then responded with a tweet of Tete holding the man of the match trophy. He won 10 duels, made seven crosses and won four fouls — more than any other player in each category.

A returning £50m Sterling also left the pitch having made little impact as Fulham earned a point that kept them above Chelsea in the Premier League table.

"Kenny Tete baby" sang Fulham fans at the end of the match as he threw his shirt towards a jubilant away end. Watching on was new loan signing Cedric Soares, who faces a difficult task to dislodge the Fulham no2.

Tete has already seen off competition from summer signing Kevin Mbabu and is ready to do so again. The defender symbolises the spirit Marco Silva wants from his players on the pitch, while he is also a perfect advert for the smart business Fulham are doing off it.

Fulham boss Marco Silva voices concern at manager sackings as Leeds dismiss Jesse Marsch

Increasing trend down to "business" impact on game, says Fulham manager

Marco Silva has revealed his concern at the number of managers being sacked in English football following Jesse Marsch's dismissal at Leeds.

American Marsch was in the Leeds job for less than a year but was dismissed on Monday following the club's 1–0 defeat to potential relegation rivals Nottingham Forest.

Silva's Fulham have enjoyed contrasting fortunes to Marsch's Leeds. The Cottagers are currently eighth in the table and will face them in the FA Cup if they beat Sunderland in a fourth-round replay on Wednesday.

Th 45-year-old said: "It's not good when I see a colleague who is not in the job anymore. It was a short period he was in charge but it's the decision of the people in charge."

Silva admitted he has noticed managerial sackings happening sooner in the modern game than in the past.

The former Hull, Watford and Everton boss said: "In England it's a change from the past because normally a manager gets more time. Results speak really loud and football has become a business."

Silva's Fulham visit Sunderland on Wednesday after the Championship's ninth-placed side earned a deserved draw in their FA Cup match last weekend.

The Cottagers will not be able to call on new signings Sasa Lukic and Cedric Soares who signed last month, yet Silva can see the bigger picture.

He continued: "It will be important for us to have more solutions in those two positions. But it is what it is: they are not going to be available for the match."

Silva will be in the stands for the match due to a suspension for picking up too many yellow cards, but he hopes his Fulham side can show the FA Cup the respect he feels it deserves.

"We want to do it," he said when asked about his hopes of reaching the fifth round. "It's our aim and ambition. Before the Sunderland match at home I said we want to keep playing in this competition. It wasn't our best game for sure that afternoon.

"It will be tough but we believe in ourselves and of course we have to do our maximum to get to the next round."

Fulham's talismanic striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored 11 goals in 19 outings so far this season yet hasn't scored in his last four games.

Asked if he was worried by the Serb's drop-off, Silva said: "It's not a concern. We know that sometimes strikers have these moments. Some moments he was scoring week in, week out. Now those goals are not coming but his belief is the same and we have to keep providing for him."

Marco Silva admits he must improve his behaviour following touchline ban
Silva will have to watch his side's FA Cup replay at Sunderland from the stands on Wednesday after he was booked for a fourth time this season.

Fulham boss Marco Silva admits he needs to improve his behaviour on the touchline.

Silva will have to watch his side's FA Cup replay at Sunderland from the stands on Wednesday having been banned from the touchline after he was booked for a fourth time this season during Friday's goalless draw at Chelsea.

The Portuguese coach's protestations earned him a yellow card from referee Stuart Attwell in the 84th minute at Stamford Bridge.

He said: "Of course it's a blow. It's not a good thing. It will be strange.

"But we have to respect the moment. Actually in that moment I didn't do anything but the fourth official saw it in a different way. I have to respect it. But everything we do will prepare in the week and we will be ready. We are a staff, not just one person. Someone will take care of it.

"Of course I have to improve myself. Even if sometimes it is not fair, and in the last game it clearly was not.

"But of course you are talking about four yellows, not just one yellow. I'm the first one demanding for myself and the first one to know I should improve some things.

"Sometimes with the emotion of the game it is not easy to do it. I respect the decisions from the officials. I have to improve myself, that's it. To control the emotions in the game."

If Fulham progress in the cup they will face Leeds, who have just sacked manager Jesse Marsch, in the fifth round.

"It's not good when you see a colleague that is not in his job no more," added Silva.

"He was in charge one year, and that's a short period. But again it's the decision of the people in charge. I'm not here to make any comments on that."

Chelsea take aim at Jurgen Klopp and Fulham fans on club website amid spending "envy"

Jurgen Klopp was among the Premier League managers to comment on Chelsea's splurge on transfers in the January window, while Fulham fans mocked their rivals' spending

Chelsea have used their club website to fire back at Jurgen Klopp and Fulham supporters over criticism of their spending in the January transfer window.

The Blues splashed out well over £300million in January to sign Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix on loan, Benoit Badashile, Malo Gusto, Andrey Santos, Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana. That outlay came after a similar splurge in the summer, which saw eight players arrive for over £250m.

The club's approach since Todd Boehly's consortium took over last May has sparked comments from rival clubs, with Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta among those asked about Chelsea's spending.

"I say nothing without my lawyer," joked Klopp. "I don't understand this part of the business but it's a big number. They are all really good players, so congratulations. I don't understand how it's possible, but it's not for me to explain how it works."

Klopp's take clearly ruffled some feathers at Stamford Bridge, because Chelsea published an article on Monday entitled "Potter unfazed by opposition jibes". As well as name-checking the Liverpool manager, the article also noted Fulham fans who sang "What a waste of money" at £105m midfielder Fernandez during their 0-0 draw on Friday.

Potter has responded to the outside noise around the Blues' spending by insisting that Chelsea's rivals are merely jealous. "It's normal," Potter said.

"We've spent the money we've spent. The media aren't going to let that go under the radar. All of football will be singing that song, that's for sure. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. There's free speech, which is good. I don't worry about that.

"Envy isn't a good quality to have. I've never been envious of anybody. I've tried to work and do the best I can in the circumstances I have. You're best to compare to yourself rather than somebody else because you don't know the context or the situation. I also understand that's the world we're in, and that's fine by me."

Potter added: "Most managers would love to be in my position. It's a fantastic football club and a really exciting time. You should never really compare yourself to somebody else because you don't know their circumstances. All you can do is try to improve yourself.

"Anybody that works here should be excited and grateful and happy, because it's a fantastic football club."

Despite his positive outlook, Potter is under huge pressure for results at Chelsea after the draw with Fulham left them ninth in the Premier League table, 10 points off the top four. Recent reports have suggested that former Spain manager Luis Enrique is being lined up by Chelsea as a replacement for Potter, who has won just nine of his 22 games in charge.

Chelsea face West Ham next in the Premier League before the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester City must pay £35m to sign Fulham star after they enquired last month

Manchester City must pay £35m if they want to sign Fulham defender Antonee Robinson after enquiring in January.

Manchester City allowed Joao Cancelo to leave the club in January, joining Bayern Munich on loan. This has left Pep Guardiola with less options in defence, especially considering Cancelo could play on either side of defence.

Despite being one of Manchester City's best players over the last few years, Cancelo found himself on the bench regularly over the last few months.

Now, according to The Sun, Manchester City made a late enquiry to sign Robinson during the January transfer window. The report claims that Fulham rejected the proposal, but would reportedly accept £35m.

Understandably, Fulham wouldn't have wanted to sell Robinson towards the end of the window as it would leave them little time to find a replacement.

After being released from Everton as a youngster, Robinson has really kicked on to develop himself into a Premier League player. Everton could be regretting their decision to allow Robinson to leave considering he's now being linked with the Champions of England.

Inter Milan, Monaco & Marseille Tracking Fulham Defender Tosin Adarabioyo This Summer, Italian Media Report

Inter are looking at Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo as a possible candidate to replace Milan Skriniar in the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who report that the 25-year-old former England youth international is a target for the Nerazzurri, whilst the likes of Marseille and Monaco are also keen on his signature.

Inter's search for a replacement for Skriniar is picking up now that it has been confirmed that the Slovakian will leave to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Former Manchester City defender Adarabioyo is a player who the Nerazzurri are big fans of, as the right-footed Englishman would have the right qualities to play on the right side of a back three, both defensively and in possession.

The 25-year-old is currently under contract with Fulham until the end of June 2024, but he could leave in the summer and Inter, as well as Marseille and Monaco, would be keen.

Silva: 'My behaviour must improve'
Marco Silva insists his touchline behaviour must improve after he was banned from the touchline for Fulham's FA Cup replay at Sunderland on Wednesday night having received a fourth booking of the season.

The Fulham boss was cautioned by Stuart Attwell in the closing stages of Friday's draw at Stamford Bridge and will have to watch from the stands at the Stadium of Light. He had received bookings at Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle prior to his caution during the SW6 derby and told his pre-match press conference this afternoon:

"Of course it's a blow. It's not a good thing. It will be strange. But we have to respect the moment. Actually in that moment I didn't do anything but the fourth official saw it in a different way. I have to respect it. But everything we do will prepare in the week and we will be ready. We are a staff, not just one person. Someone will take care of it.

Sometimes with the emotion of the game it is not easy to do it. I respect the decisions from the officials. I have to improve myself, that's it. To control the emotions in the game."

The Fulham head coach would not be drawn on how much he will rotate his side with a match against Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage on Saturday to follow.

"Let's see how many [changes] we are going to do. As you know, we are going to play on Wednesday evening, and we have Nottingham Forest Saturday, 3pm. Of course, as always, we look for the next match as the most important one, and the FA Cup is our focus, but we have to think at the same time about the next one.

It has been a busy period, some of the players have been playing many, many games since Boxing Day, and we have to take care of it. But it will be a decision that I have to take, and the most important [game] for us will be the FA Cup right now, even if you make changes or not. The players that start the game, they will be the best players for the game.

First, we have to reach the same type of motivation, the same type of enthusiasm, know how [Sunderland] are going to play. And we have to play our game, it doesn't matter if you make many changes or not, we have to play our game. We have to be Fulham Football Club, play to our strengths and play to win the football match. It will be difficult, like all the ties in the FA Cup. I think the game against them at home was a good example. But we have to do better than the last game."

FA Youth Cup quarter-final awaits Preston North End U18s with Fulham or Southampton to come

A brilliant result for the youngsters on Monday evening

Preston North End under-18s are into the quarter final of the FA Youth Cup after Monday night's dramatic 3-2 away win at Luton Town.

The Lilywhites had seen off Rotherham United at Deepdale and Gillingham away from home in rounds three and four, to set up the fifth round clash at Kenilworth Road - against a strong Hatters side. And PNE had to do it the hard way on the night, with Oli Lynch breaking the deadlock for the hosts on 17 minutes.

It was North End's young Brazilian star Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile who got North End back level - the youngster having scored five goals versus Rotherham and one at Gillingham in the previous rounds. Kitt Nelson's shot on 26 minutes dropped kindly for Rodriguez-Gentile to tuck home from close range.

PNE weren't content just going in at one apiece though. With half-time beckoning, up stepped Finlay Cross-Adair - who was alive inside the box to convert, after Rodriguez-Gentile had seen his header cleared off the line. North End looked certain to go in with the lead, but Luton had other ideas and fought back before the whistle - Millar Matthew-Lewis the man to head home the leveller.

North End defender Kian Best had been in glorious goal scoring form heading into the cup tie, with his long-distance shooting and dead-ball ability becoming a deadly weapon for PNE's young guns. And so, when the ball broke his way from a North End corner, there was no surprise to see Best work it on to his favoured left foot and thunder home into the top right corner.

The win was seen over the line and it's now on to the last eight for North End, who will host either Southampton or Fulham at Deepdale in the next round. Those two lock horns on Tuesday night, while Ipswich Town, Arsenal, and West Ham have also booked their passages into the quarters.

PNE U18s XI vs Luton: Davis; Wallbank, Taylor, Best; Seary, Mawene, Kamara, Nelson, Slater; Cross-Adair, Rodriguez-Gentile

PNE subs: Pradic, Pemberton, Eccleston, Havard, Pasiek, Horan 89', Wilson 79

Derry City set to add two exciting attackers to their squad, including Ireland U21 prospect

Derry City have been busy during pre-season building a squad to challenge Shamrock Rovers' recent League of Ireland supremacy.

Derry City are set to add to their squad this week with the on-loan arrivals of Ireland Under-21 international Ollie O'Neill and Ipswich Town winger Matt Ward.

Attacking midfielder O'Neill, whose last gasp winner against Sweden 15 months ago was crucial to Ireland reaching the Euro 2023 play-offs, is heading to Foyleside from Fulham.

He has seven goals and six assists in 12 appearances for the Cottagers' Under-21 side so far this season and is highly rated by the Premier League side.

Ward, meanwhile, is a right-winger who last November made his first-team debut for Ipswich Town in their FA Cup win against Buxton.

Candystripes boss Ruaidhri Higgins is building a formidable squad ahead of this season's League of Ireland Premier Division title challenge.

They face four-in-a-row chasing Shamrock Rovers this Friday night in the President's Cup.

I'd like to see Ollie O'Neill get more first team opportunities. He clearly has a lot of potential.

It's unbelievable, esp in the case of the West Ham game, that Silva gets punished despite blatant errors by the officials.
