Marco Silva 'emerges as the favourite to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham'... with Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy 'viewing Fulham boss as an extremely talented young coach' after transforming them into European hopefuls

Antonio Conte is widely expected to depart Tottenham at the end of this season
Several top coaches from all over Europe have been linked to replace the Italian
Fulham boss Marco Silva has emerged as a leading contender to take on the role

Fulham boss Marco Silva is reportedly emerging as a leading contender to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

Conte's future at Spurs remains uncertain with the Italian's contract set to expire at the end of this season and - although there is an option to extend his deal by 12 months - it looks increasingly likely he will depart in the summer.

Spurs are set to end another year without silverware having been eliminated from the FA Cup and Champions League in meek fashion in recent weeks, while they face a significant challenge from Newcastle, Liverpool and Brighton to finish in the top four.

Sportsmail reported last week how the club plans to stick by Conte for the foreseeable future, but chairman Daniel Levy may be forced to act if their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League look in doubt.

And, according to The Sun, 45-year-old Silva could be the club's No 1 choice to replace the Italian if he departs as expected.

The Portuguese coach has overseen a remarkable rise with the Cottagers since returning to English football in the summer of 2021.

Fulham romped home to the Championship title last season and they currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League - 15 points clear of the relegation zone - a remarkable achievement for a newly-promoted side.

They remain in contention for a European spot and the report states how Silva - who is under contract until the end of next season - is viewed by Spurs as an extremely talented young coach who has helped Fulham to develop an entertaining brand of football.

He has previously coached Hull City, Watford and Everton in the Premier League - with Silva sacked by the Toffees in December 2019 when they languished in the relegation zone - while he has also led Estoril, Sporting Lisbon and Olympiacos.

Other top level coaches such as Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi and Olivier Glasner are linked with Spurs, while Mauricio Pochettino has been touted for an emotional return to the club.

The report states Levy is likely to be impressed by Silva's ability to transform Fulham without spending copious amounts of cash, although it remains to be seen if his appointment would be enough to convince Harry Kane to remain at the club.

Spurs' talisman is only under contract until the summer of 2024 and he has been linked with a move to both Manchester United and Bayern Munich with the England skipper desperate to finally win silverware in his career.

Silva has won 206 out of his 407 games as a manager since first entering the dugout in September 2011, with the 45-year-old winning more than 50 per cent of his 82 games as Fulham boss.

Whatever happens, Levy and director of football Fabio Paratici will be in charge of appointing Conte's replacement if the Italian departs and they will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the summer of 2021.

Having missed out on a host of big names back then including Pochettino and, at the time, Conte, Spurs eventually appointed Nuno Espirito Santo just days before the squad returned for pre-season.

However, the former Wolves boss endured a disastrous reign as he lasted just 10 Premier League games in the hotseat before he was sacked in November 2021.

Conte came in as his replacement and penned an 18-month deal, leading Spurs to a fourth-placed finish last season as they pipped arch-rivals Arsenal to Champions League football in the process.

But, it hasn't been a happy marriage this season, with poor results accompanied by complaints with Conte's style of play and his side's extreme inconsistency.

Spurs are back in action when they travel to Southampton in the Premier League at the weekend.

Man Utd to rival Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea & Tottenham for '£40m+' Premier League star

Manchester United are being linked with a move for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Manchester United are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to reports.

The Portugal international has enjoyed a superb debut season in the Premier League since signing from Sporting Lisbon last summer for a fee of around £17m. Palhinha has formed a solid midfield partnership with Harrison Reed that has guided Marco Silva's men to eight in the top flight, following their promotion from the Championship.

Unsurprisingly, the 27-year-old's impressive performances have drawn the attention of the division's top sides, with the Sun claiming United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also monitoring Palhinha. They add that the player is valued at more than £40m by Fulham, with Palhinha having at least four years left to run on his current deal.

Meanwhile, the Sun state Liverpool may instead opt to sign fellow Portuguese midfielders Matheus Nunes and Ruben Neves from Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Moises Caicedo is a target for the Merseyside club, as well as Arsenal and Chelsea.

ManchesterWorld understands United are keen on signing at least one midfielder this summer, potentially two depending on recruitment elsewhere and the ability to sell. Erik ten Hag is willing to allow Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek to depart this summer, although a long-term knee injury to the latter might rule out a departure at the end of the campaign.

Palhinha has only missed three league games this season for Fulham, all due to suspension, and he's one of just two players in the Premier League to have already accumulated 10 bookings.

Keith Treacy: Shane Duffy bench role a good wildcard against France

Former Republic of Ireland international Keith Treacy believes Shane Duffy retains value as a wildcard option off the bench for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier against France in spite of limited game-time for Fulham this season.

The centre-back has made just four Premier League appearances totalling two minutes since signing for Fulham last summer and has only played in two other games in the cup competitions.

Duffy, who turned 31 on New Year's Day, was not involved in Ireland's squad for friendlies against Norway and Malta in November due to personal reasons but there is a sense that he has dropped behind Nathan Collins, Dara O'Shea, John Egan and Andrew Omobamidele in the centre-back pecking order during the latter half of last year, having been left on the bench for the final two Nations League games against Scotland and Armenia two months earlier.

But with Stephen Kenny set to name his squad on Thursday for the Latvia friendly and France's qualifier visit to the Aviva Stadium, Treacy emphasised what Duffy could still bring to the squad.

"If you're looking at it on paper, he shouldn't be in the squad," he told this week's RTÉ Soccer Podcast.

"But I think Duffy's a great option off the bench. I don't think we can play him (from the start) because he's not match fit and it'd be a huge, huge ask for him.

Treacy said it was Duffy's ability to make himself a nuisance in the opposition box and potentially find the net as he has seven times before in an Ireland jersey - four times during the Kenny era - that makes him the joker in the pack if the Boys in Green are chasing a tight game.

"If we're losing 1-0 to France or 2-1 with ten minutes to go, I wouldn't be averse to throwing him up front," he said, adding that Collins, O'Shea and Egan were the likely starting back three for the game on 27 March.

"I know that's not Stephen Kenny's style but he's a big, big threat in the box - in either box. He's very good defensively and he's one of Ireland's top goalscorers under Stephen Kenny if not the top goalscorer, so I'd throw him on the bench and whatever happens in the last ten minutes, if we're still in the French game, start pumping balls into the box because that's what the French won't like.

"You don't complicate the game against the French. Get it into wide areas and put it in with decent quality into the box."

Man United: Ten Hag eyeing move for Joao Palhinha

Manchester United are eyeing a move for Joao Palhinha

Manchester United are reportedly among a handful of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha, according to reports.

What's the latest on Palhinha to Man United?
As per The Sun, the Red Devils - as well as the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur - are said to be eyeing a move for the Portugal international this summer, with the 27-year-old having impressed since arriving in England last year.

The report suggests that the former Sporting CP man - who was signed by the Cottagers on a £17m deal in July - could command a fee of more than £40m, with Marco Silva and co unsurprisingly reluctant to sanction a sale.

The towering brute was reportedly a target for the Old Trafford outfit prior to eventually making the move to west London, with it looking as if the club could revive that interest ahead of next season.

How is Palhinha performing at Fulham?
United boss Erik ten Hag will no doubt be fully aware of the impact that Palhinha is making a Craven Cottage at present, with the highly-coveted "warrior" - as described by journalist Hunter Godson - having produced a truly dominant display when the two sides met earlier this season.

Despite ending up on the losing side, the 6 foot 3 titan notably won 12 of his 15 total duels - including making nine tackles - having illustrated just why he has been "one of the signings of the season", according to Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir.

That standout showing has seemingly been the norm for the 18-cap powerhouse so far this term, as he currently ranks top of the division for tackles made (101), with that tally far superior to that of current United man, Casemiro (58).

Despite the plaudits that the latter man has received this season at the Theatre of Dreams - having been lauded as someone who "makes such a difference" by his manager - it is actually Palhinha that is arguably performing better in his defensive-midfield berth.

That is indicated by the fact that the Fulham star has averaged a mammoth tally of 4.2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per 90 from his 24 league appearances this season, while Casemiro averages slightly lower at 3.1 and 1.3 for the same two metrics, respectively, from his 19 outings.

Equally, Palhinha also comes out on top with regard to total duels won (63% to 57%), while his potentially superior quality on the ball has been showcased by the fact that he has lost possession just 8.5 times per game and has a pass accuracy rate of 81%, while Casemiro has lost possession 12.6 times per game and has a pass accuracy rate of just 75%.

Not that such a comparison is a criticism of the Brazilian's performances under Ten Hag this season, it is merely a marker of just how impressive Palhinha has been for the Cottagers thus far, hence why the Premier League's big boys have well and truly taken notice.

As such, whether the signing of the Lisbon-born machine is to rival Casemiro in the side or to play alongside him, it would surely represent an astute move for United.

Tottenham monitoring Joao Palhinha for transfer swoop

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to a report.

The Lowdown: Bentancur injured
With Rodrigo Bentancur not expected to return until November at the earliest due to an ACL injury, Tottenham will need to look at bolstering their options in the engine room during the summer transfer window.

Bristol City youngster Alex Scott has been named as a potential target for the Spurs recruitment team, while Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse is also being considered, given that the Saints are resigned to losing him if they get relegated.

The Latest: Palhinha monitored
As per a report from The Sun, Tottenham are monitoring Palhinha for a potential summer move, but it will not be an easy transfer to complete, as a result of the level of interest in the midfielder.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are just some of the clubs also said to be eyeing a move for the Fulham ace, while his current club are determined to hold onto one of their key players, who could now be valued at around £40m.

The Verdict: Get it done?
Lauded as a 'beautiful footballer' who's 'very composed in possession' by journalist Josh Bunting, the 27-year-old has been a vital player for Fulham so far this season, ranked by Sofascore as the Cottagers' best-performing midfielder in the Premier League.

While Bunting highlights that he is comfortable on the ball, the Portugal international's most remarkable trait is his ability to win possession back, making more tackles than any other player in the Premier League this season, ranking in the 99th percentile over the past year.

Palhinha has proven that he is ready to make the step up to a team of Tottenham's level, and Antonio Conte should make him a priority target in the summer transfer window.

Exclusive: Man Utd & Liverpool transfer target is not the only Fulham player attracting interest

Fulham look to be facing plenty of transfer interest in some of their star players ahead of the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive CaughtOffside column.

The London outfit have over-achieved this season since their promotion from the Championship, and Romano now says Joao Palhinha, Andreas Pereira and Manor Solomon have a number of clubs interested.

Palhinha has been particularly impressive and was recently linked with Liverpool by the Daily Mail, and with others like Manchester United and Arsenal by the Sun, though Romano did not name specific suitors for the moment as he insists there haven't been any talks with anyone.

Still, it seems the Portugal international's performances have attracted potential suitors ahead of the summer, while Fulham may also have to deal with clubs coming in for Pereira, who finally looks to be finding his feet at Premier League level after previously struggling for consistency during a spell at Manchester United.

"It's normal to have this headlines for Joao Palhinha, also Andreas Pereira has many clubs tracking him and same for Manor Solomon," Romano said.

"They are all doing very well, but Fulham have not had any contact with clubs yet. For sure Palhinha is very appreciated but I'm not aware of concrete talks with Liverpool or Manchester United yet."

Hughes joins Northern Ireland coaching staff
Former Fulham centre back Aaron Hughes has joined Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland international coaching staff.

Hughes, who won 112 caps for his country and was part of the Northern Irish squad who reached the second round of Euro 2016, had previously served as the Northern Irish technical director, overseeing the men's and women's sides. The Cookstown-born defender, who made 250 appearances in seven superb years at Craven Cottage, joins O'Neill's revamped coaching staff as the Green and White army prepare for the start of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign against San Marino later this month.

O'Neill, now in his second stint in charge of the national side having led his country to their first major tournament in three decades, said:

Aaron brings great experience as a player and a level of professionalism which will be particularly invaluable to the younger players in the squad. Having someone who has represented their country as many times as he did can only be a positive thing to have around the squad."

Hughes, who joined Fulham from Aston Villa for £1m in 2007, was half of the miserly central defensive partnership with Brede Hangeland that took the Whites all the way from the Great Escape to the UEFA Europa League final three years later.

Liverpool have £60m star in their sights who is 'best tackler' in Premier League

Jurgen Klopp's side could do with the extra security and aggression in midfield.

Liverpool are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as they look to revamp their engine room in the summer, according to reports.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation for the London-club this season and his performances have more than warranted the reported interest from a number of top clubs.

A consistent figure in Marco Silva's side, Palhinha has been integral to their set-up starting all 24 of his league appearances and has only missed three games due to yellow card suspensions.

Furthermore, it makes sense that Liverpool are reportedly interested as the 27-year-old is league's leader for tackles this season with 101 - that's 12 more than Tyler Adams (89) in second and 33 more than Liverpool's January target Moises Caicedo (68).

These reports came from the Mail, as journalist Sami Mokbel claimed: "Liverpool are understood to be the most serious suitor but there are others."

"Fulham are confident that they can keep Palhinha for a least one more year – but interest is growing."

Having made the move from Sporting Lisbon in the summer for £20m, their asking price has been reported to be at least triple that as interest continues to grow.. After all, his defensive numbers are extremely impressive and he ranks in the top percentile for tackles in Europe.

Plus, as revealed by WhoScored, Fulham have conceded 27% of their goals in the league when Palhinha was missing through suspension - he's simply been that important.

That's exactly why the Reds are interested, his tenacity and presence in midfield could emulate the role of Fabinho and give Jurgen Klopp's side that extra added security that is currently missing. He's also managed three goals in the league as well as a strike from distance in the FA Cup.

Bournemouth cut through Liverpool far too easily on the counter-attack during the weekend loss at the Vitality Stadium as a midfield three of Fabinho, Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic were overran by the likes of Phillip Billing and Jefferson Lerma.

With the contracts of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all up at the end of the season, it's highly likely Liverpool will recruit some fresh faces with energy and quality to help them challenge once again. Going after the league's best tackling defensive midfielder would certainly be a wise move.

Daniel Levy thinks 45-year-old manager is incredible, he's Tottenham's first choice

Daniel Levy has made Marco Silva his first choice to take over from Antonio Conte as Tottenham manager.

The Sun report that the 45-year-old is admired by the Spurs chief for the job he has done at Fulham this season.

He has put the Cottagers into the European race without spending a fortune, which is how Levy wants to run his own club.

Levy thinks Silva is an incredibly talented manager, and he has recovered well from his sacking by Everton and is looking to establish Fulham as a Premier League force.

Daniel Levy makes Marco Silva leading Tottenham contender
Silva's side play attractive football and they have exceeded all pre-season expectations; they have not only completely avoided a relegation battle, they could play in Europe next season.

Is he at the calibre which would make Spurs fans and players think they are really serious about competing for trophies again?

That is the debate, although perhaps hiring a younger, hungrier, more up and coming manager might be a better fit than what Levy has done with the appointments of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Going for Silva would indicate that Spurs are looking to keep Conte in place until the end of the season amid talk of an early exit.

Fulham are highly unlikely to let their manager go while they remain in the FA Cup and chasing a high finish in the Premier League.

Spurs swatted aside Nottingham Forest on Saturday, to indicate that Conte's situation is not untenable just yet, but such public talk over Conte's successor shows his era in charge is winding down.

Four times Fulham got a result at Old Trafford

The Whites got the FA Cup quarter-final draw that no one wanted (after Man City away), as they were drawn against Eric ten Hag's Manchester United at Old Trafford. United have been resurgent under the Dutchman this season, rebuilding their reputation as a force in the Premier League – and in the domestic cups, winning the Carabao Cup in February.

But a 7-0 capitulation against Liverpool at Anfield this month has placed question marks on the side: are they running out of steam? It also allowed Fulham fans to start dreaming. What if Marco Silva's side can get a result and make it to Wembley for the semi-finals? If you think they can, then there are plenty of options for you over at betinasia.com.

Here are four times the Whites have travelled to Old Trafford and got a result.

1. Manchester United 1-1 Fulham – 2020/21
This was a strange game, as fans were only just starting to be allowed back into stadiums after lockdown, and only 10,000 were permitted to watch as Edison Cavani scored a 40-yarder to put United ahead. Fulham came to Old Trafford already relegated, with their return to the Championship confirmed two games earlier against Burnley at Craven Cottage.

Logic and the form book would dictate that Cavani's goal should've been enough to see off the Whites, but they bagged an unlikely equaliser with 15 minutes to go, as Joe Bryan tapped in following a cross from Fulham winger and best friend Bobby De Cordova-Reid. Going down, perhaps, but not without making a bit of noise first.

2. Manchester United 2-2 Fulham – 2013/14
Another decent Old Trafford point, but another relegation. Only this time, it wasn't confirmed just yet, leaving Fulham fans dreaming of another great escape. The Whites came into this game rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table on just 20 points, four adrift of 17th-placed Sunderland. But it was former Sunderland striker Darren Bent who bagged a late equaliser to seal the draw.

Steve Sidwell put Fulham ahead after 19 minutes, despite all the play going United's way, so it was little surprise when Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick restored United's lead with two goals in two minutes, leaving just 10 minutes of normal time left. But Bent headed in from close range in the 94th minute to make United's Premier League record 81 crosses into the box mean absolutely nothing.

3. Manchester United 1-3 Fulham – 2002/03
The most famous result of them all. To say Chris Coleman's Fulham side that arrived at Old Trafford in October 2003 were unfancied would be an understatement. Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils might have lost out on the Premier League title to Arsenal the season before, but they were determined to take the crown in 02/03 and sat just a point behind the Gunners in second. Fulham were doing well themselves, sitting in sixth place, but they were seven points behind United with a manager in his first full season.

But that didn't matter a jot, as Lee Clark got the boys up and running within just three minutes. And while Diego Forlan made sure Fulham fans were made to sweat for their points by sending the teams in level at the break, second half goals from Steed Malbranque and Junichi Inamoto wrapped up a famous away victory – and Fulham's last to date at the Theatre of Dreams.

4. Manchester United 0-2 Fulham 1962/63
Here's a result you might not know about. Fulham travelled to Old Trafford 60 years ago, having stayed up by a single point the season earlier. They hadn't been faring too well in 62/63 either, winning just four times by December, leaving fans feeling nervous.

But by the time they lined up against United, they had won six games in a row, easing them clear of danger. They added the seventh win on the spin thanks to goals from Pat O'Connell and Graham Leggatt. The win would help the Whites finish four points above United.

Now or never for Leeds Utd after attacking phenom enters talks with two Prem rivals over unmissable free agent coup

Nottingham Forest and Fulham are in talks over bringing a Benfica standout to England, with the onus now on Leeds Utd to act on their interest too, per reports.

The Portuguese top flight has proven a fertile hunting ground for England's big hitters of late. Man Utd plucked Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, while Man City landed arguably their best centre-half in Ruben Dias from Benfica.

Liverpool made it a double when adding Darwin Nunez to a front line that already contained Luis Diaz. Nunez was signed from Benfica, while Diaz came from FC Porto.

Now, according to the Athletic, Benfica are on the cusp of losing yet another standout player to the Premier League, though this time to a team slightly further down the table.

The Athletic report left-back Alex Grimaldo will leave as a free agent at season's end after deciding against renewing his contract with Benfica.

The 27-year-old has cultivated a reputation as being an attacking force from left-back. Indeed, he's remarkably notched five goals and 13 assists from the position this term.

Five of those 18 goal contributions have come in the comparatively more difficult Champions League. Clearly, Grimaldo is a player capable of making tangible impacts at the highest level.

LeedsLive report Leeds Utd hold a long-standing interest in Grimaldo who was recently included in Spain's provisional squad for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Norway and Scotland. Football Insider reported on Leeds' interest last month.

However, the Athletic report the Whites have thus far been beaten to the punch by Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

Grimaldo Premier League-bound?
That pair have both held talks with Grimaldo who can sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs at any time.

Ligue 1 side Nice cannot be discounted too and have reportedly lodged an 'appealing financial offer'. However, the lure of playing in the Premier League is 'attractive' to Grimaldo, per the report.

As such, the onus is now on Leeds Utd to act on their interest for a player who'd remedy a problem position.

The west Yorkshire outfit have utilised Junior Firpo and Pascal Struijk at left-back over the last season and a half. However, neither have truly done enough to stake a claim to the shirt.

The Whites landed Max Wober in the January window, though the left-sided defender has primarily been deployed at centre-back so far.

From further afield, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are all showing interest in Grimaldo.

Fulham's previous Premier League award winners

Farrell Monk delves into the history books to highlight the rare occasions our players and managers have picked up gongs.

Willian's superb dummy and finish in the routine 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest won the Brazilian winger a goal of the month award from the Premier League. Fulham being awarded an official Premier League monthly award is about as frequent as a winger getting the better of Kenny Tete. Therefore, compiling a list of awards to date has been Easy Diop.

For this list we are only counting official monthly Premier League awards. No Lightning Seeds backing music for your Match of The Day purists out there, however I have snuck in an exception as in the appendix because, well, I can. Other goal of the month awards have been fully excluded because they have only been going a few years.

Louis Saha – player of the month (August 2001)
Remarkably, it took very little time for Fulham to register their first Premier League player of the month award, and as little as four minutes for King Louis to open his Premier League account.

Saha's two expert finishes in the very early stages of each half away at Manchester United on the opening day punctuated an impressive, albeit losing, start to Fulham's first top-flight season for more than 30 years. He added to his tally a few days later under the lights at Craven Cottage and anyone in attendance that evening could see that the English's top division was home for the Frenchman. He repeatedly terrorised the Sunderland back line and finally got his reward in fortunate circumstances – a late deflected effort wrong-footed a hapless Sorensen, whose earlier error gave the Whites the lead.

The resulting three-goal tally for Saha meant he ended the month joint-top scorer alongside Michael Ricketts and David Beckham, but beat them all the player of the month award in our very first month as a Premier League team.

Roy Hodgson – manager of the month (October 2009)
Funnily enough, we started the season sitting on the cusp of the relegation zone, and it was shaping up to be a tough month on paper. It began with a frenzied 2-2 draw away at West Ham in a match that deserves its own article, as a 10-man Fulham battled back to lead until a very late equaliser.

A satisfying and comfortable victory over Jimmy Bullard's Hull followed soon after, but it was the next two fixtures that really got Fulham their mojo back. Manchester City were well into their Abu Dhabi ownership by this point, so coming back from two goals down to draw away at the City of Manchester Stadium was quite the achievement. The Whites ended the month in fine fashion with a surprisingly comfortable victory over Liverpool.

The Reds were starting their downward trend, but still had a dangerous side that started the day in the top four and were buoyed from defeating Manchester United on their previous outing. However, Zamora and Nevland tap-ins sandwiched a Fernando Torres volley, before Dempsey finished things off late after Liverpool had two red cards. This left Fulham unbeaten in October and comfortably mid-table, giving Hodgson his first Premier League award in 12 years and laid the groundwork for the season ahead.

Mark Schwarzer and Roy Hodgson – player and manager of the month (February 2010)
If 2009/10 was an absolute black forest gateau of a season with all the decorations, then the 28 days of February was the delicious filling underneath the icing and the cherries.

In the league, there were no eye-catching results, only necessary ones. Fulham defeated Portsmouth, Burnley and Birmingham at home, while shutting out Bolton and Sunderland away. The individual stories from those games have largely – and rightly – been eclipsed by our European exploits. It's worth mentioning Fulham were coming off the back five league defeats in a row and could've been a sixth if not for a lucky late Jonathon Greening winner against an impressive and battling bottom-club Pompey that got our month cooking.

Schwarzer, only beaten once that month via Chris Baird unlucky oggy, was key to that February rise. A world-class save against Birmingham and a heroic performance at the Reebok were his highlights en route to his only Premier League individual award. These results have always been overshadowed by the two-legged victory of Europa League holders Shakhtar Donetsk.

But of course, the awards were only given for Premier League performances, which both men certainly deserved. It will always be a travesty that Hodgson was not given manager of the season by the Premier League. Thankfully, come the end of the year his peers recognised greatness at the PFA awards and did the right thing, allowing our boy Roy his Bruce Bogtrotter moment.

Honourable mention: Steve Finnan
I'll never get over the fact that a Fulham player was named one of the 11 best in the Premier League, even if it sounds tinpot. Steve Finnan's Fulham debut was against Chesterfield in Division Two and a few short years later he was being recognised by his fellow professionals at the end of the 2001/02 season as the best right-back in the country for little old Fulham. To date, it's the only time this has occurred. However, I do "dream of Ream" being the league's best XI in a couple of months' time.

Milan van Ewijk said Fulham want him and now he's available for bargain fee

Feyenoord may be willing to sell Milan van Ewijk for around £4 million this summer with PSV Eindhoven facing competition from Premier League outfit Fulham, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.

Kenny Tete will take some shifting. You could probably count on one hand the right-backs who have performed better than Fulham's all-action 'number two' over the last six months or so, Tete not only one of the division's best 'defensive' full-backs but also a major threat going forward.

And the struggles of Kevin Mbabu at Fulham may be a warning sign to Van Ewijk. Mbabu left in January after barely kicking a ball under Marco Silva. Van Ewijk, should he arrive at Craven Cottage, would face a similarly steep challenge forcing Tete out of the starting XI.

Fulham eye Milan van Ewijk but face PSV Eindhoven battle
"(The interest) is nice," Van Ewijk explained recently.

He will not, however, blindly sign on the dotted line if the Cottagers come calling.

"The feeling and the plan just have to be right," Van Ewijk adds. "I'm a guy who goes by feeling. If Fulham doesn't suit me, then I'm not going. Of course, it is a big step to Fulham. The plan must be good, otherwise I will be wasting my time there.

"It's hard to say no to a club like that at the moment. Maybe it's the right time to take this step. I don't know. It's hard. On the one hand, I would like to go. But you have to be good think about what you're leaving behind and whether it's the right move."

Van Ewijk was valued at £10 million in the summer of 2022. Now, reports indicate that Feyenoord may be willing to accept around £4 million with Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven also keen on the Amsterdam-born wideman.

The chances of Fulham stepping up their interest, of course, rests on what happens regarding Cedric Soares between now and September. Cedric joined on loan from Arsenal in January. He's played only eight minutes of Premier League football under Silva so far, however, with Tete still firmly cemented as the club's first-choice right-back.

Pundit claims Tottenham players won't be happy with 45-year-old as Conte replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Fulham manager Marco Silva in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte could be on his way out of the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 53-year-old has not signed an extension with the London club yet.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of other managers as well but it appears that Marco Silva's exploits at Craven Cottage have caught their attention.

According to talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil, Tottenham players are unlikely to be happy with links with the 45-year-old manager.

He said (h/t HITC): "You think the Tottenham players are happy with all this talk? There they are. We were talking about how frustrating they are. You look at how the results went at the weekend and now they are reading and hearing this again?!

"I would go for a Poch me. I am sorry, but I would go for a Poch. You know what you are getting. And you might say 'well, what has he won?' If you give him a few quid and let him buy the players, then that might change."

While Silva has done an impressive job at Fulham so far, he does not have a proven track record of managing big clubs with massive expectations.

Tottenham need someone who can end their wait for a trophy and convince the big players to stay at the club.

Conte has a proven pedigree of winning trophies across multiple leagues and he has managed several big clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.

The Italian is a world-class manager and if he decides to leave, Tottenham will have to bring in someone who is of similar caliber.

While Silva might develop into a top-class manager in the future, he would be an underwhelming addition right now.

With players like Harry Kane being linked with moves away from the club, Tottenham must bring in someone who will inspire confidence in the top players that the club is capable of winning trophies soon.

Harris wins Wales call up
Fulham midfielder Luke Harris is line to make his senior debut for Wales after being named in Rob Page's squad for the opening European Championship qualifiers against Croatia and Latvia.

The attacking midfielder, who has made five appearances for Marco Silva's side this season, was included in a senior side before the World Cup last year but has had to make his Welsh debut. The Jersey-born teenager has captained Wales at under-19 level and has scored 45 goals in 66 games for Fulham's academy since making his under-18 debut at the start of the 2020-21 season.

The highly-rated seventeen year-old starred as Steve Wigley's side won the under 18 Premier League south title and was fast tracked in the under-23 that Wigley led to promotion back to the PL2 top flight. He memorably scored a hat-trick inside eleven minutes for the under-21s in a 6-1 win at Newcastle last February before starting this campaign with another treble to settle the SW6 under-21 derby at Chelsea.

Harris was rewarded with a first-team debut at Crawley Town in the League Cup, before making his Premier League debut as a substitute in Fulham's win over Aston Villa. He made another senior start in the FA Cup fourth round replay victory over Sunderland and now has a chance to make an impression at international level. Wales, who were disappointed to go out at the group stage of the World Cup, begin their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a tough tie in Split against Croatia on Saturday 25 March before facing Latvia in Cardiff on Tuesday 28 March.

Harris is joined in Page's squad by Fulham wingers Harry Wilson and Dan James.

Newcastle United looking to sign £50m Fulham midfielder

Newcastle are reportedly interested in Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as they look to add to their midfield department.

The Magpies have been linked with a few midfielders recently including Mason Mount, Carlos Baleba and Moises Caicedo and Fulham's Palhinha is the latest name to be linked with Eddie Howe's team.

The Portuguese 27-year old has been a revelation this season with many considering him to be one of the most underrated signings of the season after the Cottagers signed him for just £20million back in July.

Newcastle are very keen to reinforce the middle of their team after letting Jonjo Shelvey go in January and Matt Ritchie and Matty Longstaff's contracts set to expire in July, so giving help to the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock should be seen as a priority for the club.

The Sun are reporting that Newcastle aren't alone in the chase for Palhinha, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal just a few of the teams that are also keen on his signature, so watch this space to see if Fulham are willing to part ways with a player that has been crucial to their success this season.

Harris Signs Contract Extension

The Club is delighted to announce that, following his 18th birthday, Luke Harris has signed an extended contract until 2026, with a Club option for an additional year.

Our young attacking-midfielder made his first senior start for Fulham in our Carabao Cup game against Crawley earlier this season, and has since appeared a number of times under Marco Silva.

His quality was soon spotted on the international stage, with Rob Page including Luke in Wales' squad for their UEFA Nations League matches against Belgium and Poland.

Harris was delighted to extend his stay at Fulham: "I'm really happy with all of it. I've been here for a very long time now, so I'm pleased I'll be staying for even longer.

"Ever since I arrived here, I've settled in really well which was really important as I moved here on my own at the age of 13. At first it was difficult, but looking back now I can see that it was all worth it.

"It feels like home here and I'm loving my journey at Fulham. I'd like to thank my mum and dad who have sacrificed a lot for me, often coming over on weekends with my brothers to watch me play. I couldn't have done this without all of them."

From coming on as a substitute against Manchester City, to making two senior cup starts, the Welshman has already enjoyed experiences he'll never forget.

"My debut was really special, but starting in the FA Cup against Sunderland is the memory that I would say stands out the most. It was a brilliant experience because the FA Cup is so historic, and to be a part of it and help us progress was a great feeling."

On earning Marco's trust, Harris added: "It shows that if you keep on working hard in training, you'll be rewarded, so I just need to keep working every day in order to hopefully get more opportunities."

Tony Khan commented: "Luke has worked hard from a young age, developing under our tremendous Fulham Academy staff to earn his opportunities in the First Team and make his Premier League debut this year.

"Under the great coaching of Marco Silva, I expect that Luke will continue to develop and that he can be an important player for us at Fulham for many years to come. Congratulations, Luke.

"Come on Fulham!"

Head of Football Development, Huw Jennings, said: "We're absolutely delighted, and what's really important is that Luke has already been here a long time and he's showing commitment to want to be at Fulham."

On his speedy journey through the age groups, Huw added: "It's not about age, it's about your ability to demonstrate how you grow and progress.

"One of the key elements to my role is to see players transitioning from the Academy towards the First Team. Luke's getting a really high-class apprenticeship working with Marco every day, whilst getting his games through Steve Wigley and the Under-21s.

"Hopefully, as he has demonstrated through his long-term commitment, we're going to see him grow to become a considerable asset for Fulham in the future."

Fulham player not willing to leave Premier League – Contract extension 'possibly' coming up

Last week, rumours from the European media claimed São Paulo have been monitoring Willian's situation at Fulham.

The winger's contract with the Whites expires at the end of the season, and with no deal for a renewal yet, any club can dream of his signing.

But this story has barely reached the Brazilian press and is already ruled out by local journalists.

Journalist Jorge Nicola comes up with a video telling a few reasons why Willian is unlikely to return to his home country at this stage.

The first motive is that the winger has been doing well at Fulham, with three goals and three assists in 21 appearances, and is well settled at a club who've been having a positive campaign in the Premier League under Marco Silva.

The second is the financial matter, as São Paulo wouldn't be able to match the salary he has at the Craven Cottage. And the third reason is the bad situation he found in Brazil last year, as he was targeted by threats from Corinthians fans, and already claimed he's a lot happier in London, where he feels like his family is safer.

Nicola claims 'there isn't any chance' Willian will return to Brazil this year. And when saying the player is staying in Europe, the journalist claims he'll 'possibly' have his contract renewed by Fulham.

Harris extends Fulham deal
Luke Harris has signed a year-long contract extension at Fulham, the club have announced this afternoon.

The attacking midfielder, who was called up to Rob Page's squad for the start of Wales' European Championship qualifying campaign today, has now cemented his future at Craven Cottage until 2026. The 18 year-old, who has made six appearances for Marco Silva's first team squad, had been tracked by a number of England and Europe's top sides have starred since joining Fulham's academy from Jersey.

Harris told the club's official website:

"I'm really happy with all of it. I've been here for a very long time now, so I'm pleased I'll be staying for even longer. Ever since I arrived here, I've settled in really well which was really important as I moved here on my own at the age of 13. I'd like to thank my mum and dad who have sacrificed a lot for me, often coming over on weekends with my brothers to watch me play. I couldn't have done this without all of them."

The playmaker, one of the latest players to roll off the Motspur Park conveyor belt, has already enjoyed a stellar year and has plenty of highlights to pick from.

My debut was really special, but starting in the FA Cup against Sunderland is the memory that I would say stands out the most. It was a brilliant experience because the FA Cup is so historic, and to be a part of it and help us progress was a great feeling."
