One of the last of those connected with the original Private Eye, founded by Peter Cook, and that 60's satire generation.

Hard to imagine them getting away with a lot of it today, even a lot of 'Dame Edna's' TV  chat show programmes, where Humphries as Dame Edna routinely humiliated celebrity guests, who never seemed to realise what they were letting themselves in for.

A very funny man, who often stretched the boundaries of 'good taste,' that I doubt would be allowed on TV today, and has been a great influence on many modern comedians, I should think.

Barry and his creation, Dame Edna, had seemed part of our entertainment furniture, so sad to see him  gone, especially just after another great original comedian, unafraid of causing outrage, another man famous for  dressing up as a woman - Paul O'Grady.
