Fulham v Manchester City player ratings: Vinicius 7, Ream 3; Haaland 8, Grealish 7
City move to the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage

Manchester City claimed top spot in the Premier League for the first time since February as Erling Haaland reached yet another milestone in a 2-1 victory at Fulham on Sunday.

It took Haaland only three minutes to score his record-equalling 34th Premier League goal of an extraordinary debut season in England, the Norwegian tucking away a penalty.

It moved him level on the Premier League single-season scoring record of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

City were pegged back in the 15th minute when Carlos Vinicius rifled a shot past Ederson but they responded to the setback to carve out a succession of chances.

Jack Grealish was denied by the crossbar before Argentine forward Julian Alvarez produced a moment of magic to beat Bernd Leno with a right-foot shot from outside the area.

City were unable to give themselves a cushion after the break despite several chances and suffered some anxious moments but they held on for an eighth successive league win.

They are now top with 76 points to Arsenal's 75 and also have one extra game to play. Fulham remain in 10th place.

Former Colchester United defender Matt Briggs back at Fulham

FORMER Colchester United defender Matt Briggs has returned to Fulham as the club's Academy player care mentor.

Briggs, who made made 65 league and cup appearances for Colchester after joining them in January 2015, initially on loan, is now back at Craven Cottage, where he came through the academy ranks.

The former left-back, who left Colchester in 2017, became the youngest player to play in the Premier League in May 2007 when he represented Fulham at the age of 16 years and 68 days.

In his new role with the Premier League club, the 32-year-old former Guyana international will provide holistic support off the pitch for young players.

Tosin Adarabioyo urges Fulham to 'forget' narrow Man City defeat as he gives verdict on Erling Haaland battle

Cottagers defender looks ahead to Liverpool trip

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo gave an insight into what defending against the extraordinary Erling Haaland is like, after his side fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester City.

City leapfrogged Arsenal into top spot with the hard-fought win at Craven Cottage, which came courtesy of Haaland's third-minute penalty and Julian Alvarez's stunning winner. Carlos Vinicius had momentarily levelled for Marco Silva's outfit, but to no avail.

Haaland's spot-kick meant he matched Alan Shearer's record for the most goals scored in by a player in a single Premier League campaign with 34, and he became the first top-flight player to hit 50 goals in a single season for 92 years.

"We were in the game throughout the entire 98 minutes, but obviously didn't get the result," Adarabioyo reflected.

Speaking about facing Haaland, he added: "It's a very physical battle. He's a strong and fast guy, so you have to know what you're coming up against. Every forward has their qualities, and that [shooting with his first touch] is one of his qualities — everyone knows he can score."

Tenth-place Fulham visit Liverpool on Wednesday, and Adarabioyo called on his team to move on from defeat to City, saying: "We're going to have to forget about this game."

Tim Ream went off injured in the first half with an arm injury, having fashioned his shirt into a makeshift sling.

It got worse for Silva in the second half when a long stoppage in play to treat Andreas Pereira culminated in the ex-Manchester United playmaker leaving the field on a stretcher with his right leg in a brace.

"We'll have to wait and see for the results of what the injuries are, and we'll see how they are," Adarabioyo said. "They are two players who have featured in every single game this season, so that [says] everything about them being important players for us."

Man of the Match Result: City

You have voted Bernd Leno as your Man of the Match for his performance against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Our shot-stopper has been in fine form all season and yesterday that form continued as he looked to keep the dangerous forward line of the away side at bay.

His efforts this season have not gone unnoticed by fans, who regularly serenade the German with his chant "Super Bernd Leno in goal!"

Bernd Leno was an outright winner with 47.9% of the vote, followed behind by our two full-backs Kenny Tete (11.2%) and Antonee Robinson (9.8%).

How Liverpool could line up against Fulham

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has seemingly emerged as a doubt for Wednesday's Premier League affair with Fulham at Anfield.

The Spaniard was absent from Sunday's 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur for unexplained reasons, but he was seen limping towards the dugouts, sparking fears of another potential injury.

Calvin Ramsay (knee) and Stefan Bajcetic (adductor) are long-term absentees for the hosts, who are also sweating on the fitnesses of Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino, both of whom are nursing muscular problems.

Furthermore, the Liverpool doctors have also been tasked with assessing Jurgen Klopp's hamstring/adductor concern, which he sustained during the manic celebrations after Diogo Jota's last-gasp winner.

The injured Reds boss should stick with a largely recognisable backline, but Andrew Robertson did not cover himself in glory on Sunday and could make way for the fresh legs of Kostas Tsimikas.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk should be in no danger of losing their spots, and the same can be said for Curtis Jones and Fabinho in midfield.

Harvey Elliott was given the nod at the weekend, but Klopp should now consider recalling the more experienced head of Jordan Henderson, especially if Thiago's concern rules him out again.

Luis Diaz marked his first start since October with an early goal on Sunday, but Klopp may deem it too risky to field the Colombian from the first whistle twice in the space of a few days.

As a result, injury-time hero Jota - whose high boot on Oliver Skipp went unpunished before his dramatic late winner - could return to the forward line alongside Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Jota

Man Utd have already found ideal midfield signing Jurgen Klopp wants at Liverpool

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wants to add to his options in midfield in the summer transfer window and Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha appears to fit the bill

Joao Palhinha 'has the quality' to shine at Manchester United - as Erik ten Hag's side prepare to battle Liverpool for the Fulham midfielder.

The Portugal international is enjoying an assured first season in the Premier League after moving to Fulham from Sporting CP. The 27-year-old has started all but three league matches, helping the Craven Cottage side to an impressive mid-table berth.

Palhinha has formed a formidable partnership with Harrison Reed for Marco Silva's charges, with Reed recently describing his teammate as a "tackling machine". Statistics back that claim up - Palhinha has more interceptions leading to chances than any other Premier League player this term.

Ten Hag has improved United's midfield since his appointment as manager last year, with the signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen having a positive impact. But the Dutchman feels his work in the department is not done and wants another new player in the position in the summer transfer window.

There is also the possibility that both Fred and Scott McTominay will leave Old Trafford as Ten Hag continues to rebuild his squad. Meanwhile, Marcel Sabizter's loan from Bayern Munich expires at the end of the campaign.

According to The Sun, United have joined the race to sign Palhinha in the summer. It is claimed that Fulham will reluctantly sell him if their asking price of around £60million is met, a year on from paying £20m for his services.

A 20-cap Portugal international who has won trophies with Sporting and Braga, Palhinha looks to have the profile of the type of player United will target and Dimitar Berbatov believes he would be the ideal signing for his former side.

The ex-United and Fulham striker told Betfred: "He certainly has the quality to do so (make the step up). He's having a great season for Fulham and he's at that moment in his career, at the age of 27, where he can become even better.

"He has everything that a holding midfielder needs. He's not afraid of challenges, he can pass, he's great at spraying a diagonal ball and switching the play. He's also capable of scoring goals too.

"If a team like Manchester United, or a team of a similar calibre, comes for him, then he's going to think it's time for the next step and to win trophies. He's had a brilliant first season in the Premier League but he needs to maintain that level of consistency.

Fulham count the cost of Man City clash as injury woes pile up for final games

Marco Silva is determined that Fulham's season will not fizzle out, but acknowledges the run-in will be far from easy after the loss of two more players in Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Man City.

Tim Ream, who has been a revelation in this campaign and not missed a minute of action, was forced off with a suspected broken arm after match-winner Julian Alvarez trod on him. Andreas Pereira - a vital cog in this season's success story - was stretchered off with an ankle injury. Both players may well have played their last games of 2022/23.

The Whites boss was already having to cope without another of those remarkable summer signings - Willian - and that is before he has to factor in Aleksandar Mitrovic still having to serve out the final games of an eight-match suspension imposed after the FA Cup loss at Old Trafford.

"The worst thing this afternoon was not the result but the two players that we got injured," Silva said.

"They both looked serious injuries in both situations. Tim Ream will probably not play more games this season after breaking his arm and let's hope Andreas is not so serious.

"After the situation with Mitrovic and the injury of Willian as well, in a short squad like we have, it's really tough to take.

"The last two months have been tough for us.

"In two seasons he [Ream] didn't miss one training session, and that talks about himself, how he's a very good professional and it will be a big blow for us but it will be chance for others to come in and show their quality."

Fulham's stretched resources have come at the very moment they might have been pushing on to challenge for a place n Europe, but the final five fixtures will test their ability to husband dwindling resources.

After a trip to Liverpool on Wednesday, they have home games against Leicester City and Crystal Palace and trips to Southampton and Man United.

The one consolation from a damaging Sunday afternoon by the Thames was the way they competed. Pep Guardiola admitted Fulham had given his team as testing an examination as anyone in their recent charge back to the top of the table.

Silva said: "We started in the worst way possible, but losing the match 1-0, we showed the character to come back to equalise. We had a clear plan to try and hold a bit more the central area of the pitch and we created problems for them to make chances.

"The good thing for us is these players keep showing the character and personality to be really competitive and to show the quality at this level."

'50/50 decisions were against us' - Fulham boss Marco Silva gives referee verdict after Man City defeat

Manchester City beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage to move back to the top of the Premier League ahead of Arsenal's game against Chelsea on Tuesday

Fulham manager Marco Silva felt 50/50 decisions went against his side during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at Craven Cottage.

City got off to the perfect start when Julian Alvarez was brought down in the penalty area after just three minutes. Erling Haaland stepped up to convert the spot kick for his 34th Premier League goal of the season, meaning he is level with all-time record goalscorers Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

Pep Guardiola's side were cruising but Carlos Vinicius' strong strike levelled the game after 15 minutes and left Ederson with no chance.

With less than 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Alvarez scored the winner with a superb curling effort from range. The second 45 saw a number of flashpoints for referee Simon Hooper to deal with.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid felt he was brought down for a penalty but Hooper waved away the complaints. Jack Grealish also had several complaints of his own with the referee's decisions.

Despite Grealish's frustrations, Silva believed Fulham were hard done by the officials. He explained to BBC Sport: "I haven't seen all the images [on his side's penalty shout].

"During the match we felt that 50/50 decisions were against us again. It is what it is and can't control it."

When asked for his thoughts on the match overall, the former Everton manager added: "Disappointing result. Good work from the boys.

"We were competitive throughout the match. When you concede a goal against City in the first minute it creates a difficult scenario for any team.

"We showed the character to come back and equalise the game and start to have a bit more balance of the game. That was our best period of the match [after the equaliser].

"We conceded a goal, we cannot lose the ball the way we did. That is the mistake that we are punished by.

"A great strike from Alvarez but we should've done much better before that. Second half we tried, we didn't create many chances too.

"We didn't create any, they didn't, the game was more balanced. We were competitive and tried until the last minute. We have to be proud of the boys."

Manchester City plot Antonee Robinson swoop

Manchester City want bring in defensive reinforcements at the end of the season and have identified Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson as a target.

Antonee Robinson has been a key player for Fulham this season, and his performances have caught the attention of Manchester City. A report from Fichajes claims that the Premier League champions are looking to secure his services.

The American international is a talented young player with a big future ahead of him, and he could prove to be a solid, long-term investment for Manchester City. The Premier League side has had to use Nathan Ake as the left-back this season. But the Dutch international is more suited to the role of a central defender.

Pep Guardiola must look to bring in a specialist left-back at the end of the season. To that end, the 25-year-old Fulham star could prove to be the ideal signing. Robinson is likely to be tempted to move to Manchester City if they come forward with an official proposal at the end of the season.

It would be a major step up in his career, and he would get to play for a side capable of winning major trophies every season. In addition to that, working with a world-class coach like Pep Guardiola will only help him improve further and fulfil his potential.

Fulham have done quite well this season, and they are pushing to finish in the top half after securing promotion to the Premier League last term. They will not want to lose a key player at the end of the season. But they will be under pressure to sell the player if Robinson decides to force a move. It won't be easy to turn down the opportunity to join a club like Manchester City.

The Premier League champions are well-placed to win the league title this season. So Robinson will fancy his chances of competing for the major trophies with them in the coming seasons. But Manchester City have several other left-backs on their radar, including Kieran Tierney.

Meanwhile, Robinson has a contract with the London club until the summer of 2024, and he is unlikely to cost a lot. Fulham will not want to lose the 25-year-old as a free agent next year. So it makes sense for them to cash in on him this summer.

Inter Milan Tracking Fulham Defender As Possible Milan Skriniar Replacement

Inter are looking at Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo as a possible replacement for Milan Skriniar in defense next season.

This according to UK broadcaster Sky Sports, via FCInter1908, who report that the 25-year-old Englishman is on the Nerazzurri's radar alongside Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti, and that his contract with the Cottagers is set to run out at the end of June 2025.

Inter are looking far and wide for a prospective replacement to Skriniar at the end of the current season.

The Slovakian will leave to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer when his contract with the Nerazzurri runs out at the end of June, and so a positionally similar player is being sought as a like-for-like replacement.

Sky confirm reports that Barcelona defender Umtiti is one of the players who Inter are interested in.

The 29-year-old Frenchman is currently on loan at Lecce, and is a player who the Blaugranas will be aiming to offload during the summer transfer window as he is not in coach Xavi's plans.

Sky report that the Nerazzurri have been impressed with Umtiti's performances in Serie A this season, and could look to sign the 2018 World Cup winner.

However, Umtiti is not the only defender that Sky report the Nerazzurri are looking to replace Skriniar with.

25-year-old former Manchester City defender Adarabioyo is another player who is on Inter's radar for the summer, according to the UK outlet.

The Englishman joined Fulham on a permanent basis from City in the summer of 2020, having also had loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Balckburn Rovers.

Adarabioyo has made 102 appearances for Fulham since joining, having gone down with the Cotaggers at the end of his first season at the club but then helped them to promotion under Marco Silva.

The Englishman has made appearances for his country at up to the Under-19 level, but has never been capped for the Three Lions' senior team.

Tosin: 'We'll have to forget' City defeat quickly
Tosin Adarabioyo has urged Fulham to 'forget' their narrow defeat at the hands of league leaders Manchester City and focus on another big challenge as they prepare to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

The towering centre back gave a good account of himself against his former employers, but Marco Silva's Whites were beaten by a brilliant finish from City's Argentinian World Cup winner, Edson Alvarez.

Adarabioyo told the Evening Standard after the final whistle:

"We were in the game throughout the entire 98 minutes, but obviously didn't get the result. We're going to have to forget about this game."

He gave an insight into facing the formidable Erling Haaland, who scored his 50th goal of an incredible season from the penalty spot after just three minutes at Craven Cottage.

"It's a very physical battle. He's a strong and fast guy, so you have to know what you're coming up against. Every forward has their qualities, and that [shooting on sight] is one of his qualities – everyone knows he can score."

Fulham, who were already without the services of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Willian before the start of the contest, saw their resources depleted by serious injuries to league ever presents, Tim Ream and Andreas Pereira. The classy centre back didn't seek to sugar coat how big a blow that could prove to be.

"We'll have to wait and see for the results of what the injuries are, and we'll see how they are. They are two players who have featured in every single game this season, so that [says] everything about them being important players for us."

Silva: Pereira's season is over
Fulham attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a suspected broken leg in yesterday's defeat by Manchester City.

The Brazilian international, a £10m signing from Manchester United last July, had started every league game for Marco Silva's side before coming off worst in a collision with Manuel Akanji at Craven Cottage. The 27 year-old has scored five goals and added six assists in 38 games for the Whites, but Silva confirmed that Pereira would not be available for selection before the end of the season during this afternoon's press conference ahead of Wednesday's trip to Liverpool.

Pereira will join American defender Tim Ream on the sidelines in the final weeks of Fulham's campaign. Speaking about both players, Silva said:

"Tim and Andreas started all the matches this season. They are two big misses for us. Two key players for us. It's not a normal scenario. It was a really unlucky afternoon for us. But now it is a chance for the others."

Fulham are awaiting the results of MRI scan to learn the full extent of Pereira's injury.

Fulham confirm Pereira is out for rest of season

Fulham's Andreas Pereira has been  ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury during Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Manchester City.

Pereira was stretchered off in the second half at Craven Cottage and Whites boss Marco Silva has confirmed that the former Manchester United man will not play again before the end of the campaign.

Tim Ream was also ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken arm midway through the first half, but Silva had hoped that Pereira might return for some of the team's final five fixtures.

"It's not good news. We had feedback that Tim Ream would be out for the season and the situation with Andreas Pereira will be the same," Silva said.

"We are waiting for more updates from the exams he had the morning, the MRI, and then we will be more sure about everything,"

Ream and Pereira have been ever-present this season and in addition to the pair missing the trip to Liverpool on Wednesday, Aleksandar Mitrovic remains suspended for two more games.

However, Silva is hopeful Wilian will be fit for the match at Anfield after missing the past two matches with a hamstring injury sustained in the warm-up before last week's defeat at Aston Villa.

Team News: Andreas Out For The Season

Marco Silva confirmed in Monday's press conference that sadly Andreas Pereira will join Tim Ream in the treatment room for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

"Not good news," he said. "On Tim Ream, he has broken his arm and will be out until the end of the season. The situation of Andreas Pereira will be the same, he will not play anymore this season.

"We are waiting for more updates from the exams this morning, an MRI as well, and when we are going to be more sure about everything, we are going to give more feedback to you, but both are not going to play anymore this season.

"The two types of injuries that happened yesterday with us, and both in the same game, is not something so natural to be honest. One player has broken his arm and one player has a serious injury to his ankle – it's not really a normal scenario.

"It was a really unlucky afternoon for us, but we have to be ready now, it's a moment for us to recover them really well, as fast as we can, and to support them in everything."

The pair have been two of the first names of the teamsheet this season, and so it was a major below to lose them both to severe injuries on the same afternoon.

"Tim and Andreas started all the matches this season," Silva stated. "They were the two until now who started all the games in the Premier League.

"They are going to be two big misses for us, definitely. These two players are so, so important for us so far this season.

"But the same time, it's a chance for the others. These type of things can happen, and you have to be ready as a squad to answer in the best way you can."

Willian was absent again against Manchester City on Sunday, but when asked about the severity of his issue, Silva replied: "Not really serious.

"Against Villa he felt something in his hamstring during the warm-up, and we took a decision – more as a precaution to be honest – to not take the risk for him. It was something that came from the last few minutes of the Leeds match at the Cottage.

"There was a short time between both games, Villa and City. We took care of him and he did some individual work to see if he will be ready or not. The day before the match we tried, he was not feeling at the best level, not really confident, and we decided not to start with him.

"Let's see, we have another session tomorrow, we are going to assess him and after we are going to decide. Probably I believe, if he's not fit [for Liverpool], he will be ready for the next match against Leicester."

Games for Mid-week 03/05
We're on our travels again, this time we visit Anfield for the rearranged fixture
Yet another spirited performance with no points for our effort, it would appear that we were wearing the wrong colours as white shirts = "not a penalty" for a couple of clear cut occasions?
Loosing both Ream and Pereira, with suspected broken arm and leg respectively, was a blow, both for the game and remainder of the season. Marco said that Tim will be unavailable for the remainder of the season and Pereira will need to be assessed, if he has broken or fractured his leg then he'll obviously also miss the remaining games.
When Tom came on he, once again, showed that he can make a significant difference, Marco has improved Tom's game although we've only seen brief appearances this season, I think he'll get a couple of starts for the remaining games.
Vinicius had probably is best game for us, what a cracking goal he scored, hopefully he can do the same against Liverpool.
Another "plus" was how well Diop and Tosin played together, assuming both are fit and stay, this partnership could be our new "Thames Barrier".

Current Form:
Liverpool – DWWWW
Fulham – WWLLL

Our record against Liverpool isn't as good as I thought with 4 wins, 9 losses and 3 draws.

With Willian, Ream, Pereira and Mitro unavailable my team would be...

Latest Liverpool injury news as two definitely miss Fulham after Thiago spotted limping vs Spurs

Liverpool injury news: Latest updates ahead of the Reds taking on Fulham with Thiago spotted limping and even Jürgen Klopp himself having picked up an issue vs Spurs.

After Diogo Jota's late winner against Tottenham on Sunday, Liverpool is hoping to make it five wins in a row by beating Fulham at Anfield on Wednesday — with another home fixture next weekend against Brentford to come.

Liverpool kept its faint Champions League aspirations alive with a victory over Spurs, but with Manchester United and Newcastle both also having won, there was no ground made up on the top four spots.

The only thing that Jürgen Klopp's men can do is keep collecting three points and see where it takes them, with the Europa League at least more than within touching distance.

There is no doubt that finishing fifth or sixth would be a disappointment compared to where the expectations were at the start, but in the context of how the season has gone, in some ways that would be something of an achievement.

Liverpool will hope to get back on track over the summer, though, and finishing this campaign strongly will be a big boost at the start of the new season in August.

Beating Fulham will be the next thing that Liverpool hones in on, and the Reds could have a couple of players back in contention.

Roberto Firmino
Having missed the previous three games with a muscle injury, it is unknown yet whether or not Firmino could be back in contention for playing against Fulham.

It is unlikely that he would start with so many other options, but with time ticking down on his Liverpool career, missing another Anfield game would be a shame. Klopp will provide an update in his press conference at 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Naby Keïta
Klopp thought that Keïta would be in training again on Friday, though he was not pictured in the session. Even if he is back, getting minutes would appear unlikely this week.

Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott played against Spurs, with the former, in particular, impressing again, while there is also Jordan Henderson and James Milner to play one of the number eight roles.

Thiago Alcântara
The Spanish international was not named on the bench for Liverpool against Spurs but was present there as he drew a baffled expression from his manager while seemingly translating for Darwin Núñez before he entered the pitch.

It is not known yet why Thiago was missing but he was spotted limping to the bench before kick-off, which does not seem like particularly good news.

Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bajčetić
The talented teenage pair have been missing for some time and will remain out until the summer, with both Ramsay and Bajčetić certainly ones to watch for the future.

Ramsay could be an ideal fit for being the back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold while Bajčetić's quality has already been made clear: he will be a big part of the midfield revamp before next season.

Jürgen Klopp
The Liverpool boss himself was injured during the game with Spurs, as he charged down the touchline in front of the Main Stand toward fourth official David Brooks while celebrating Diogo Jota's winner.

Klopp said he was in pain and might have damaged his hamstring. He will probably be asked for an update on his own fitness ahead of Fulham during tomorrow's press conference!

Fulham Manager Marco Silva Concerned by Liverpool's Attacking Depth

Silva brings his comfortably mid-table side to Anfield for Wednesday night's rearranged Premier League fixture.

Following Sunday's wild 4-3 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, Liverpool have won four league games in a row for just the second time this season. Next up, they will try to make it five when they welcome Fulham to Merseyside for the two sides' rearranged fixture.

Fulham have had a solid mid-table season back in the Premier League this season under manager Marco Silva, who guided them to promotion in 2021-22 and currently has the Cottagers feeling quite comfortable in tenth but who is expecting a tough task Wednesday stopping Liverpool's attack.

"They are in a good moment in the last few games," Silva noted. "They have been achieving good results and scoring goals, with all the players in the attack in better form right now. They can change many players in the attack line and even so they keep the quality.

"Yesterday is a good example again, when they had the chance to rest Diogo Jota and start [Luis] Diaz coming back from the long-term injury. And with Darwin [Nunez] as well on the bench and [Cody] Gakpo and [Mohamed] Salah, they have a lot of solutions in the attack and they have four wins in a row."

Fulham's 45 points makes them mathematically safe from relegation—Leicester, currently in 18th, would only hit 44 points even if they win out—while Aston Villa and seventh place—and with it a spot in the Conference League—is a likely unreachable nine points ahead.

It should mean the pressure is off for Fulham, with the game likely to mean little beyond bragging rights. Sometimes, though, the removal of pressure from an underdog side can free them up to deliver an over-performance, and that's what Silva will he hoping for against the newly in-form Reds.

"They are in a good moment right now," he added. "They want to keep the momentum, of course. They want to build from that. It's up to us to be ready to play at Anfield. It's always really tough. It will be for sure a great environment and another great challenge for us."

Diaz, Gakpo and Salah Lead The Attack | 4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted XI Vs Fulham

Liverpool will take on Fulham as they welcome them to Anfield on Wednesday night, looking to grab all three points from this contest. In their most recent match, the Reds battled to a 4-3 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur, propelling them to the fifth spot on the Premier League table and two points ahead of Spurs.

Jurgen Klopp will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to keep the changes to a minimum from the last time out. Cody Gakpo will continue to lead the charge against the opposition, while Luis Diaz will keep his place in the left wing even though Diogo Jota could be pushing for a start. However, Jordan Henderson could get the nod over Harvey Elliot.

4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted XI Vs Fulham
Defence
After conceding three goals in his last league appearance, Alisson Becker will continue to function in goal for the Merseyside club. Ibrahima Konate will continue to play alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool's backline as they focus on stopping the Fulham attackers from scoring this weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will continue as the right-back, while Andrew Robertson operates as the left-back. Both of them must defend their lines well and create decent goal-scoring chances from the wide areas.

Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez will be available for selection on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield
The Midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Curtis Jones will look to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.

Henderson and Jones have to find a way to engineer a few promising chances for the Reds in the attacking third.

Harvey Elliot will be named on the bench and might influence the game in the second half if Klopp decides to call upon his services.

Attack
Luis Diaz will continue as the left-sided wide player, while Mohamed Salah hopes to be productive on the right flank.

As mentioned earlier, Cody Gakpo will lead the charge for the Merseyside club in the final third. The Dutch forward has to find a way to cause a few headaches for the opposition defenders.

Darwin Nunez will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the game's latter stages if required.

Fulham suffer major double blow as Marco Silva's men shattered by injury news

The Cottagers were defeated 2-1 by Manchester City at Craven Cottage on Sunday despite a fine, fighting display from the home side - but it came at a cost for Marco Silva's men

Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira has joined skipper Tim Ream in being ruled out for the rest of the season.

Sunday's 2-1 home loss to Manchester City saw Ream forced off in the first half, with the defender having broken his arm, and Pereira then departed the field on a stretcher after the interval following a coming-together with Manuel Akanji. Cottagers boss Marco Silva said post-match that Ream "is probably not playing any more" for the remainder of the campaign – something he confirmed at a press conference on Monday ahead of Wednesday's trip to Liverpool, while also revealing the same applied to Pereira.

Silva said: "Tim Ream has broken his arm and will be out until the end of the season, and the situation of Andreas Pereira in terms of this season will be the same, he will play no more. We are waiting for more updates from the examinations, an MRI as well, and when we are going to be more sure about everything we are going to give more feedback, but both are not going to play more this season."

Silva, who described the pair as "two big misses for us", added: "When one player has broken his arm and one has a serious injury in his ankle, it's not really a normal scenario, a normal thing.

"It was really an unlucky afternoon for us when these type of things happen.

"But we have to be ready, now is the moment for us to recover them really well, as fast as we can, and support them in everything we can, because they have been so, so important players for us this season."

Fulham, whose top-scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic's eight-match suspension still has two more games to go, have also had Willian absent for their last two outings.

The winger was a late withdrawal from the starting line-up ahead of the 1-0 loss at Aston Villa last Tuesday due to a hamstring issue

Regarding that injury, Silva said: "Not really serious. We took a decision more as a precaution, to be honest. It was something that came from the last minutes of the Leeds match (the 2-1 win three days earlier). He felt it again during the warm-up and we decided not to take the risk.

"Of course there was a short time between the games, Villa and City. We took care of him, and we made some individual work to see if he would be ready or not.

"The day before the match we tried, he wasn't feeling at the best level, not really confident, and we decided we wouldn't start with him.

"Let's see – we have another session tomorrow and we are going to assess him and after will decide. Probably I believe if not for tomorrow then he will be ready for the next match, against Leicester (at home next Monday)."

Fulham are currently 10th in the Premier League with five more games remaining, while Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, who extended their winning run to four matches with Sunday's 4-3 victory over Tottenham, are fifth.
