Leeds United make contact with ex-Fulham boss over managerial vacancy
Leeds United have made an enquiry about the availability of Scott Parker.

Leeds United have made an enquiry about the availability of former AFC Bournemouth and Fulham manager Scott Parker, according to Alex Crook on talkSPORT's Transfer Notebook.

Leeds are looking for a new manager this summer, after their dismissal campaign in the Premier League saw them have three managers in 10 months of football.

Who is Scott Parker?
The 42-year-old is currently unemployed after being sacked from Belgian side Club Brugge in March of this year.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder hasn't been in management for long. After retiring from football, Parker became the under-18s manager at Tottenham.

Then, in 2018, the former England midfielder joined the coaching staff at Fulham and was the assistant manager for the majority of the 2018/19 season.

The final few months of that campaign saw Parker get his first shot at management, as he took charge of Fulham for the final three months of the season.

The club was relegated from the Premier League, but the 42-year-old was given the job on a permanent basis and steered the club back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

In June 2021, following Fulham's relegation back to the Championship, Parker left the club and took over at Bournemouth, where he stayed for one season.

He guided the Cherries back to the Premier League, taking charge of 55 games in all competitions.

He was sacked by Bournemouth in August last year, and after a few months away, he came back into the game in a surprise move to Belgium, where he only lasted 12 games.

Are Leeds United interested in Scott Parker?
It was first revealed by the Telegraph at the beginning of this month that Parker was a contender for the Leeds vacancy.

However, there was believed to have been no contact between Parker and Leeds until now that is.

TalkSPORT are now reporting that the Yorkshire club has made an enquiry for the 42-year-old about his availability, with the report stating Leeds are interested as Parker has a proven record at Championship level.

It also adds that Leicester City are another team that is said to be interested in Parker, but they haven't given up hope of appointing Graham Potter as their new manager.

Would Scott Parker be a good appointment for Leeds United?
If this deal is agreed upon, it is likely an appointment that isn't going to go down well with the Leeds faithful.

There is no doubt that Parker has an excellent record at Championship level; every time he has been in the division, he has got teams promoted.

However, the concern would be what happens when they have been promoted, as Parker hasn't got a good record in the Premier League, and that's where Leeds should and need to be.

So, while Parker may be good for them in the Championship, the 42-year-old may not be the best long-term appointment they can make this summer.

Fulham offer Willian new contract after playing key role under Marco Silva

Brazilian winger enjoyed brilliant season as Cottagers finished in Premier League's top ten

Fulham have offered Willian a new one-year contract to stay at Craven Cottage.

The 34-year-old winger's deal is due to expire at the end of the month but he has an offer to match his current terms, worth around £50,000-a-week, with an option for a further year.

Fulham head coach Marco Silva last month said retaining Willian was a "priority".

The Brazilian enjoyed a brilliant season to help Fulham finish 10th. He has been approached about a move to Saudi Arabia and has European interest, but is settled in London.

Silva himself remains locked in talks with Fulham over a contract extension, and the club's summer transfer plans are likely to be pivotal in talks.

Willian scored five goals and registered six assists in the Premier League last season and is in contention to win player of the year at Fulham.

He is currently on holiday and will consider what is best for his family, who enjoying living in London.

Fulham are also in talks to keep Tosin Adarabioyo and Manor Solomon, while captain Tom Cairney is attracting interest from relegated Leicester City.

Does Shahid Khan deserve more appreciation?

In his debut piece, Max Hallmark looks at the relationship between our fans and owner.

Let's start by addressing the elephant in the room: ticket prices during the past few years of Shahid Khan's "custodianship" have been astronomical. Perhaps this is the reason why his name isn't sung around the Cottage. But there was still a lack of affection for the American owner when prices were more reasonable. So maybe it's the three Premier League relegations during his 10-year stewardship.

Without turning this into a debate around ticketing, it's worth discussing whether Shad deserves some credit overall. While Mohammed Al Fayed's name still rings around the stands on matchdays, Shahid Khan receives no recognition. Al Fayed is heralded as a club legend (though he wasn't without his controversies), however, does his successor of 10 years deserves some adulation of his own?

The start and end of an era
As much praise as Al Fayed deserves, it is also necessary to acknowledge the frailties present towards the end of his tenure. When Shahid Khan bought the club from him in 2013, he inherited an ageing squad after Al Fayed began to slow his investment. The team was destined to fail in Khan's first term, despite an deceptively high finish in the previous season disguising the club's true state.

Less seriously, he also inherited the infamous Michael Jackson statue. Mr Khan's decision to remove it from the holy grounds of the Cottage deserves some credit, if nothing else does – even if Al Fayed's superstitious claims that MJ's presence would have kept Fulham in the Premier League are to be believed. It is unfortunate that Shahid Khan oversaw a relegation in his first season in charge, especially given that a significant chunk of the responsibility for the club's precarious position lies with previous management. Nevertheless, the link between his arrival and the end of a 13-year Premier League stint didn't win him many fans initially.

Retaining an identity
While Fulham's fate in 2013/14 may have been somewhat out of Mr Khan's control, he was responsible for some panicked managerial decisions and distasteful contract terminations. Many Fulham fans like to believe that the club's core identity lies in being family club that acts properly. This identity was jeopardised when key players were released via email following relegation; most notably, Brede Hangeland, after his five years at the club earned him legendary status.

Perhaps this responsibility lies more with the Director of Football at the time, but this offers no consolation to the negative atmosphere in Khan's initial season. A season in which he oversaw the sacking of two managers after a relatively stable period; a bold move in his first year. The third managerial appointment that year obviously being, the unforgettable (to say the least) Felix Magath. This set off the first season back in the Championship on the wrong foot, with the team coming a little too close to relegation to League One for comfort.

A nepotistic appointment
In 2016, Shahid Khan appointed his inexperienced son, Tony, in the prestigious role of Director of Football. However, at least this appointment coincided with an upturn in the team's performance, whether a causal link exists or not. Regardless of fan opinions of the job he has done, the nepotism involved in the appointment was naturally greeted with scepticism from the fanbase.

This was confounded when Tony announced three years later that he was launching and managing All Elite Wrestling. The launch of AEW came on top of Tony's involvement with his father's other sporting venture, the Jacksonville Jaguars, leading to questions over his ability to adequately attend to his third role with Fulham. However, the club has recruited astutely recently, with many of the signings this season being greatly credited with the team's success. Yet Tony Khan's name is widely viewed negatively among the fanbase, which taints his father's reputation.

Investment in the present and future
Fan opinions may differ over Tony's role at the club, but it's difficult to dispute the fact that his father has invested greatly in the team. Fulham have often flirted with the Financial Fair Play threshold, and at one point crossed that limit, leading to a transfer embargo in 2016. There is an argument that financial sustainability is required in the long term, but the fact that Mr Khan is investing the maximum permissible highlights his ambitions and it's subsequently paying off on the pitch.

Over the course of 10 years, Khan has injected more than half a billion pounds into the club. For context, Al Fayed invested half of that amount in 16 years, albeit that doesn't account for football inflation. Of course, greater financial backing is not a guarantee for success, as that lot from down the road have brilliantly demonstrated. Thankfully, Fulham are being treated to success, but it's  the ambition that Khan is showing through his investment that deserves credit.

Crafty owners
Besides, this ambition cannot be said of all owners. Clubs like Bury, Derby, Wigan and many more have all suffered from poor ownership. Points deductions and even expulsion from the Football League, in Bury's case, have damaged these clubs and the communities that rely on them. You need to look no further than Fulham's recent history, to find its own case of crafty owners. In 1987, David Bulstrode announced his plans to merge Fulham and QPR, in an attempt sell the lucrative ground that Craven Cottage lies. Thankfully, his plan was foiled.

It is encouraging to see that Shahid Khan is investing in all aspects of the club; he has plans to expand the training ground, improve the women's team and most significantly, he invested £160 million in the new Riverside stand. This investment is crucial, not just for added capacity and revenue, but also for securing the future of Craven Cottage as the club's rightful home.

Inflated ticket prices
Unfortunately, the ticket prices in this new stand are extortionate. Shahid Khan announced that season ticket prices in the Riverside will cost up to £3,000, albeit only a few seats are priced at the highest premium. Nevertheless, many fans have been forced to find alternatives. When there are price increases of 18% across the rest of ground, options appear limited.

With many fans being priced out, the Fulham Supporters' Trust penned an open letter to Mr Khan. Disappointingly, he has failed to respond. Instead, he did an interview only accessible behind the paywall of The Times, stating FFP as the reason for the increases. If this is to be believed, it is encouraging that he has future investment in mind, however, this should not come at the cost of loyal fans. Also, it is believed that the increased revenue from tickets sales will be marginal in comparison to that gained from broadcast rights. Regardless of his intentions, however cynically they are to be viewed, his response to the issue has been poor.

Verdict
Shahid Khan is far from the perfect owner, but he has done a good job all things considered. While he has not always made correct decisions, his mistakes stem from misguided good intentions. He clearly cares about the club, as his investment shows. How Mr Khan handles the ticketing situation could be deciding. It is possible to criticise the owner, while simultaneously respecting the job he has done and continues to do.

Marco Silva is bringing the club tremendous success but, without discrediting Marco, we would not have reached these heights without Shahid Khan's financial backing. It should also be noted that Khan personally met with Silva before hiring him, and perhaps the glamour of his yacht was a factor in Silva's decision.

In the days where it's common for owners to not be seen, let alone heard, Fulham can be satisfied with current ownership. With the club's current trajectory, fans can be optimistic for the future. A future that may see Khan get the appreciation he deserves.

Leeds United make Scott Parker inquiry amid threat from Leicester City

Leeds United have made an inquiry to Scott Parker for the vacant manager's job, according to a report from talkSPORT.

The former Bournemouth and Fulham boss has "attracted" the Whites thanks to his record of winning promotion from the Championship with both clubs, but remains "on the radar" of relegated rivals Leicester.

However, the Foxes are reportedly holding out hope of tempting former Chelsea boss Graham Potter into the second tier after having a previous approach rejected so the Whites might have the edge.

After Parker was sacked from the Vitality Stadium early this season he took over at Club Brugge and managed in the Champions League, but was "brutally axed" after just 12 games.

Now, Leeds United have made an approach to inquire over his availability to take over at Elland Road.

Move
The 49ers buy-out has finally got things moving properly on the managerial front, but with the Foxes yet to land on their man for the new season the pressure is still on.

Parker's record anywhere but the English second tier is nothing to write home about, but he has always delivered the goods in the Championship so far.

In the short term that is exactly what Leeds United need, so on paper it makes sense for an approach to be made to the 42-year-old.

Whether he has the overall profile to get Whites fans excited for the new season is probably more open to debate, but the club are apparently convinced that he deserves consideration.

Angus Kinnear has been in contact with candidates since prior to the end of the season, at least preventing the club from having to start from scratch once the sale was agreed.

And it looks like an approach in earnest has now been made to Parker over possibly taking the job, as the Whites appear to finally be closing in on replacing Sam Allardyce one way or another.

"Haven't missed or regretted anything" – Player insists he's 'not crying' after Arsenal exit, very happy where he is

Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno has insisted he doesn't regret leaving Arsenal last summer, despite them going on to challenge for the Premier League title.

The German has been speaking to SportBILD about his first season at Craven Cottage after moving to Fulham from Arsenal in the summer transfer window last year.

Leno had spent four years at the Emirates following a €25m move from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2018 and had been number one at the club for most of that time before finding himself down the pecking order in his last season.

He was eventually replaced by Aaron Ramsdale, and elected to move across London to Fulham to become their number one when they were promoted back to the Premier League last season.

The move has proven to be a smart one for both parties, with Leno impressing and providing experience to Marco Silva's side.

Arsenal have also come on leaps and bounds since his exit, challenging for the Premier League title for much of the season before eventually falling short in the final run in.

Most would assume that was a bitter pill for Leno, but he insists that is not the case and he does not regret his move in the slightest.

"I quickly found my rhythm again, gained confidence and played well," he said.

"The way we played was intense. I like the gameplay. I haven't regretted for a second that I stayed in England and went to Fulham. Fulham used to be an elevator crew. Now we want to establish ourselves properly.

"In the end, Arsenal didn't become champions, but regardless of that, I had to look at myself: the Arsenal chapter was just over for me.  I still have a good relationship with some guys.

"But I'm not crying after the Arsenal chapter, I haven't missed or regretted anything."

Fulham: Whites in pole position for Igor
The Brazilian is on the verge of leaving.

Fulham are "on pole" for the signing of Fiorentina centre-back Igor Julio, and he is believed to be on closing in on an exit from his club, according to journalist Dimitri Conti.

Who could join Fulham this summer?
Marco Silva's side enjoyed a successful first campaign back in the Premier League last season, finishing in the top half and above the likes of west London rivals Chelsea.

They were even contending for a European spot at one point but fell just short with the likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool and Brighton beating them to Europa League and Conference League qualification places.

It was a promising season for Fulham and one which has resulted in plenty of interest in their key assets, with midfield star Joao Palhinha attracting interest from Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Man United.

Meanwhile, it is believed Silva wishes to reinforce his squad this summer as the domestic window officially opens today.

Gil Vicente striker Fran Navarro, for instance, is reliably believed to be of interest to Fulham with Man United duo Harry Maguire and Fred also on their radar.

It has also been mentioned that Fulham are plotting a move for Austria international and Wolfsburg star Patrick Wimmer, as they are with Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Another player they have been linked with is Igor, with reporter Conti sharing an update in a piece for TUTTOmercatoWEB.

According to his information, a major overhaul could occur at Fiorentina this summer as the future of manager Vincenzo Italiano appears to be resolved.

La Viola reached two major cup finals last season, but that apparently won't stop some players seeking pastures new, with Igor being one of them.

Conti says his suitcase is "already in hand", meaning he is on the verge of leaving, and Fulham are "on pole" to bring him to England.

The Whites are apparently favourites for his signing as they seek to build upon last season's brilliant efforts.

Who is Igor?
The Brazilian was one of Fiorentina's key defensive players last season - ranking in their top three for tackles made, interceptions and clearances completed per 90 in the Italian top flight (WhoScored).

He also sits sixth in their squad for most Serie A minutes played, and with just over 12 months remaining on his deal, Fulham could get him for a fairly reasonable price.

The left-footed centre-back is also still just 25-years-old, meaning he has many years at top level still feasilbly ahead of him.

Fulham deal for £25m ace collapsed and now he's joining Prem rivals instead

Roma winger Justin Kluivert is finally on his way to the Premier League with AFC Bournemouth closing in on a £25 million deal one year after his move to Fulham fell through.

Not that an aborted deal for the one-time Ajax whizzkid held The Cottagers back.

Fulham signed Willian instead shortly after their pursuit of Justin Kluivert collapsed due to problems with his work permit. And, at the ripe old age of 34, Willian ended up playing some of the best football of his career back in West London as Marco Silva's side secured a top-half finish.

But with Kluivert now on his way to Bournemouth instead, the 24-year-old will at least be afforded the opportunity to show Fulham what they are missing.

Bournemouth near Justin Kluivert deal with Roma
According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between Bournemouth and Roma are at an 'advanced' stage. Giallorossi director Tiago Pinto will be in England this week. The Cherries, meanwhile, are expected to pay a fee in the region of £25 million.

One which, per Tuttomercatoweb, will see Kluivert become their joint-record signing alongside the recently-departed Jefferson Lerma.

The son of Dutch legend Patrick, Amsterdam-born Justin – who was named Goal's Nxt Gen winner back in 2018 – went some way to rebuilding his reputation on loan at Valencia last term after an ill-fated spell in the Italian capital. His six goals from the wing were integral as Los Che dramatically staved off the very real threat of relegation.

Kluivert, meanwhile, made it clear in conversation with Kick 'T Met that he has little interest in returning to Italy in an attempt to fight for his place under Jose Mourinho.

"I'm still stuck at Roma," the jet-heeled 24-year-old says, via Voetbal Primeur. "But I want to get rid of them, man." People sometimes also ask: do you want to go back? Then I say; 'No man'. That book is closed to me.

"I'm missing one more competition now; England. Maybe that will come, who knows."

The Kluivert ship may have sailed for Fulham, but another Italy-based player could soon be heading to Craven Cottage. The agent of Fiorentina defender Igor Julio this week indicated that a summer move may be on the cards.

Agent rubbishes transfer rumour about £50,000-a-week Fulham star

The agent of Fulham winger Willian has ruled out a move to Russian giants Spartak Moscow for the Premier League veteran.

With the Cottagers looking to avoid the dreaded 'second season syndrome' and build upon an outstanding return to England's top flight, retaining one of last term's star performers is an absolute must.

Willian, at the age of 34, proved beyond all doubt that rumours of his demise had been greatly exaggerated. A man who flopped so spectacularly at Arsenal rediscovering his Chelsea form back in the familiar surroundings of Fulham's West London home.

Willian could get new contract at Fulham
The Brazil international's current deal is due to expire in just three weeks' time.

Fulham, according to The Standard, are desperate to ensure one of 2022/23's most inspired signings does not depart so soon, offering Willian a new £50,000-a-week contract.

In a further boost to Fulham's hopes, agent Kia Joorabchian has now rubbished reports linking the one-time Anzhi Makachkala star with a return to Russia.

"Not this time. Willian will not move to Spartak (Moscow)," Joorabchian tells Sport Express.

Willian, who will turn 35 in August, scored five goals and set up six more last season. He found the net during a famous win over arch rivals Chelsea, provided an assist for Dan James against Manchester United and also netted one of the finest solo efforts of the entire campaign at home to Nottingham Forest.

No to Russia
"A top-class player," Silva told The Independent in February. "A great guy. He's playing with a smile on his face, he keeps working hard every single day. He's enjoying every single moment with us. We are enjoying every single moment working with him.

"I know he wants more. He knows that he always has me behind him to demand from him and give him confidence. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. Everyone knows his quality. He's a class player.

"If I had had doubts (about his age), I would not have signed him. About his quality, it's impossible (to have doubts). I want him to have some days with us to feel, to create connections, myself with him, the staff with him, and him with his team-mates.

"What he's doing for us is not a surprise. You see it week in, week out. I am a privileged guy because I can see it every single day."

Fulham also face a battle hanging onto Joao Palhinha and Manor Solomon this summer; the duo attracting interest from West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

Barcelona keen on €50m Fulham player – Deal could be helped by player exchanges

Barcelona are keen on Fulham star Joao Palhinha and could make a potential €50m deal happen by including players in the operation.

That's according to Sport, who say Palhinha has emerged as a potential option for the Catalans as they look to replace Sergio Busquets.

Signing that player is a priority for the club's management, with the club focusing all of their financial efforts on doing so.

Finding the right player is difficult though as the top-level options are considered impossible in a financial sense, so sports director Deco has been 'working intensively' for the last few days to find alternative solutions.

He's picked out two names, Fulham's Palhinha and Benfica's Florentino Luis, who have 'shown a great level' this season and could fit into what Barcelona want to do moving forwards.

Deco is 'convinced' about both players and their specific qualities fitting into the team, although neither would be easy to sign this summer. He is, however, convinced that they would 'want to come' to the club.

Barcelona have already scouted both and Palhinha was even in the club's ideas last summer before they focused on other players and Fulham signed him in a €20m deal from Sporting Club de Portugal.

He's been a key player for Marco Silva's side since his arrival and Fulham will be reluctant to sell, having already ruled out letting him join anyone else in England.

He is valued at €35m but Sport say Fulham would want a figure closer to €50m. They would, however, be 'willing to talk' about exchanges so there are margins for negotiations to happen.

What players they could take aren't mentioned but with Barcelona determined to get rid of a list of players, Fulham could have their pick if the Catalans do push to get Palhinha their summer.

Taye Ashby-Hammond kept 13 clean sheets during his spell on loan with Stevenage last season

Stevenage have signed goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond from Fulham on a permanent deal after a season on loan with the club.

The 24-year-old joined the now League One club on loan last June while they were in the fourth tier.

He kept 13 clean sheets in 29 appearances during their promotion-winning campaign from League Two.

Ashby-Hammond did not play for Fulham's first team, with further loan spells at Maidenhead United and Boreham Wood.

Stevenage sign Taye Ashby-Hammond
Stevenage have signed Fulham goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond permanently after his successful loan last season.

The 24 year-old custodian came through the Motspur Park academy having joined the Whites in 2008 and became a regular in Fulham's youth sides before gaining senior experience on loan at Maidenhead and Boreham Wood, where he starred in the National League outfit's run to the fifth round of the FA Cup – which including a sensational display to knock out Scott Parker's AFC Bournemouth.

Ashby-Hammond kept thirteen clean sheets in 29 games before suffering a season-ending cartilage tear as Stevenage won promotion from League Two by finishing second in the table. He was voted Boro's young player of the year last term in recognition of his outstanding performances for Steve Evans' side.

Everton transfer news: Fulham manager Marco Silva 'big fan' of Demarai Gray - Sky Sports

Fulham remain interested in Everton forward Demarai Gray this summer with Marco Silva a "big fan" of his, according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas.

According to Sky Sports News [10 June], the West Londoners are interested in signing Gray this summer, with his future on Merseyside unclear.

The former Leicester City man was signed from Bayer Leverkusen for just £1.7m in 2021. However, things haven't quite turned out well during his two years at the club with Everton avoiding relegation in consecutive seasons and his lack of starts under Sean Dyche in the latter stages of last season.

And according to Sky Sports transfer expert Thomas [14 June, 2:52pm], Marco Silva is a big fan of the former Leicester City forward.

However, it remains to be seen whether Everton will be willing to sell him with his Goodison Park future uncertain.

He wrote: "They were interested in Alex Grimaldo at left-back but that looks to have cooled, while I also reported a few days ago that Demarai Gray is of interest.

"Marco Silva is a big fan. It is not clear, though, whether Everton will sell him."

Up to Dyche
Given Fulham's incredible progress under former Everton boss Marco Silva last season and the Toffees' consistent flirting with relegation, Gray may well be tempted to empty his Finch Farm locker to head to West London.

On his day, the former Leicester City man is indeed unplayable possessing great skill, speed, technical acumen and influence in the final third to be an effective winger at any club in the Premier League.

However, it is a shame that the Everton faithful simply have not seen that explosiveness on a consistent basis and the 26-year-old could be forgiven for trying to seek a future elsewhere and Fulham could provide him with that new lease of life.

The decision will remain up to Dyche though, and whether Gray would fit into his plans next season. Everton are set to undergo a major revamp this summer and a number of key stars could leave.

Right now, it seems as though Gray is leaning towards a Goodison Park exit for which a replacement will need to be targetted, but Everton won't sell unless they secure an arguably more effective option to strengthen their attack.

Liverpool: £50k-a-week star would be 'pointless signing' at Anfield
Liverpool have been urged to avoid signing a £50,000-per-week star they are leading the race for

Liverpool should not sign Kenny Tete as tempting the Fulham star to Anfield would be 'a waste of time', RedmenTV presenter Ste Hoare has told GIVEMESPORT.

The Reds have already been busy in the transfer market, signing Alexis Mac Allister in a deal worth up to £55million, but boss Jurgen Klopp is seeking further fresh faces.

Liverpool transfer news - Kenny Tete
According to The Sun, Liverpool are leading the race for Tete and he could be available in a cut-price deal during the summer.

The report suggests the Netherlands international is valued at less than £11million, while two other unnamed Premier League clubs and a La Liga side are mulling over whether to head to the negotiating table.

Tete is set to enter the final 12 months of his Fulham contract, which is worth £50,000-per-week, at the end of June.

However, the Cottagers have an option to extend the right-back's deal by another year, meaning he will not necessarily become a free agent next summer if he fails to move onto pastures new before the summer window slams shut.

Tete is not Liverpool's only target as transfer insider Dean Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT that Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is among the names on Klopp's shortlist.

What has Ste Hoare said about Tete?
Hoare believes Liverpool would be making a mistake if they win the race for Tete as he would be a pointless signing.

The RedmenTV presenter feels Klopp should only consider making a move for the full-back if Klopp intends to deploy Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield on a permanent basis.

Hoare told GIVEMESPORT: "I don't see why Liverpool need him. I don't see the point, if truth be told.

"He is a proper right-back and Liverpool don't have one. But, personally, I think it would be a waste of time buying a right-back unless Klopp wants to use Alexander-Arnold as a full-time midfielder.

"That would mean another change in system. If Alexander-Arnold is always in there, then that's a different kettle of fish, and you're taking another body out of there. I don't see the point."

How has Tete performed in the Premier League?
Tete has made 53 Premier League appearances, according to Transfermarkt, racking up seven goal contributions along the way.

The 27-year-old, who joined Fulham in a £3million deal from French giants Lyon close to three years ago, was among his current employers' most consistent performers during the 2022/23 campaign.

WhoScored handed Tete an average match rating of 6.98, a figure which was only bettered by Aleksandar Mitrovic and Willian in the Cottagers' camp.

The data shows that Andreas Pereira was the sole Fulham teammate to claim more Premier League assists before the season reached its climax last month, emphasising that the Dutchman - who made 55 appearances for Ajax earlier in his career - has found his feet in English football.

Although FBref statistics highlight that Tete averaged more tackles, blocks, interceptions and clearances than Alexander-Arnold last term, the Liverpool man was more dangerous in the final third of the pitch.

Barcelona interested in Fulham's João Palhinha, could include players in deal - report
A new alternative to replace Sergio Busquets has emerged

Barcelona continue their search for a replacement to legendary holding midfielder Sergio Busquets ahead of next season, and a new name has been added to the list as the Blaugrana begin their work in the summer transfer window.

That name is João Palhinha, one of the best players in a Fulham side that had a very impressive season in the Premier League. Palhinha has the physical requirements to play the role in today's game, and showed a remarkable improvement in his passing ability during his debut season in England which has really caught the eye of Barça scouts who already had positive reviews on the player.

The 27-year-old Portuguese international was offered to Barça last summer but the Catalans couldn't proceed with a deal as they had other positions in mind, but Busquets' departure has made the La Liga champions take a serious look at Palhinha in the last few days.

And according to Diario SPORT, new Barça board member Deco is high on the player and knows Palhinha wants to move to Catalonia. Fulham are expected to ask for around €50 million but would be willing to negotiate at a lower number if Barça include players in the operation, the report says.

That would come in handy for Barça as they look to offload the likes of Eric García, Franck Kessie, Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati, as well as players just returning from loan such as Clément Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti. Getting rid of those names would lower the salary cap enough to complete other summer operations such as Ilkay Gündogan and Brazilian striker Vitor Roque.

Barça boss Xavi Hernández had two priorities for the pivot position in Real Sociedad's Martín Zubimendi and Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich, but both players made it clear their intention to stay with their current clubs in recent days. Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat is the next name on the list but has plenty of interest around Europe, so Palhinha emerges a real option now.

Another name on the list to keep an eye on is Benfica's Florentino Luís, who exploded onto the scene in the Champions League and is a physical presence who's shown good improvement in his ball skills as well. Barça appreciate him, but it seems as though the young Portuguese midfielder isn't quite as high on the list of priorities at the position.

Happy birthday, John Paintsil
It is very difficult to sum up just up what John Paintsil means to the Fulham fans. The Ghanaian full back was quite a character – and Roy Hodgson's decision to splash out around £8m on him and Bobby Zamora in the summer of 2008 was the subject of some tabloid ridicule. Paintsil, whose name lost an i when it was registered following his birth and in passport and football administration documentation, became a cult hero at Craven Cottage for his whole-hearted performances as well as his emotional connection with the Fulham fans.

He played 91 games in total for the Whites helping London's oldest professional football club record their highest ever league finish nine months after staying up on the final day. He was then part of the side that, unbelievably, went all the way to the Europa League final in Hamburg having had to enter the competition's early qualifying rounds the previous June. I'd submit that he was harshly treated under Mark Hughes – but Painstil bears no grudges to Fulham.

If you are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new Premier League fixtures, why not celebrate our old right back's birthday by listening his brilliant appearance on our Green Pole podcast with Alan Drewett from January. It's well worth your time!

Ex-Fulham and Bournemouth boss would be a gamble worth taking for Leeds United: Opinion
Scott Parker is under consideration for the vacant managerial position at Leeds United.

Scott Parker is under consideration for the vacant managerial position at Leeds United.

The Whites opted against renewing the 68-year-old's short-term contract after he failed to keep them in the Premier League, picking up just one point from his four games in charge.

It was an incredibly disappointing season for Leeds which saw the dismissals of Jesse Marsch and Javi Gracia, while there have been significant changes off the field with director of football Victor Orta departing and chairman Andrea Radrizzani agreeing to sell his share in the club to co-owners 49ers Enterprises.

Who has been linked with the Leeds United job?
There have been a number of managers linked with the vacancy, including Brendan Rodgers, Steven Gerrard, Graham Potter, Daniel Farke, Scott Parker, Carlos Corberan, Rob Edwards, Regis Le Bris and Carlos Carvalhal.

Of those options, Rodgers would undoubtedly be the standout candidate, but the 50-year-old is closing in on a return to Celtic, while he is said to have given "firm indications" that he is unwilling to drop down to the Championship.

Journalist Alex Crook claims that Potter is "unlikely" to make a move to Elland Road and he has reportedly turned down fellow newly-relegated side Leicester City.

With Rodgers and Potter seemingly out of the running, the Whites should now turn their attentions to Parker.

Would Scott Parker be a good appointment for Leeds United?
Parker has been out of work since being sacked by Belgian side Club Brugge in March after picking up just two wins from his 12 games in charge.

It was undoubtedly a disappointing spell for Parker, but he instead of being ridiculed for his failure, he should be commended for going abroad and attempting to broaden his managerial horizons.

Parker's record in England is significantly more impressive and one of the main reasons the Whites should opt for him is the fact that he has won promotion in both his seasons managing in the Championship, leading Fulham back to the Premier League in 2020 before repeating the feat with Bournemouth in 2022.

One of the main criticisms levelled at Parker is that his possession based style of play is too ponderous and predictable and while it is true that his brand of football is unlikely to excite the fans, particularly when compared with that of Marcelo Bielsa, a safer and more controlled approach could be exactly what Leeds need.

The Whites conceded 78 goals in the Premier League this season, the most in the division and the players were forced to adapt to three contrasting styles of play under Marsch, Gracia and Allardyce.

Parker would give Leeds an identity and he would certainly make them more organised, which would provide an excellent platform to build their promotion push.

It is unfair to say the 42-year-old's sides do not score goals and he could be the perfect manager to reignite the career of Patrick Bamford, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dominic Solanke enjoying prolific seasons in the second tier under Parker at Fulham and Bournemouth respectively.

There would certainly be risks attached to Parker's appointment but as promotion is likely to be the target at Elland Road, there are few managers with a better track record in that department than Parker.

Wolves transfer news: Barcelona now looking at Fulham star amid doubts over Ruben Neves deal

Barcelona have reportedly now turned their attention Joao Palhinha, after reports the Ruben Neves deal has become 'paralysed'.

Barca have had a strong interest in Neves that stretches back at least a year.

The Spanish giants were going to swoop for Neves last summer and the midfielder even moved out his belongings. in anticipation of the move. But it fell through, and Neves ended up staying.

Barca have remained interested and this summer have been strongly linked.

But they cannot offer straight cash, and have been banking on Jorge Mendes facilitating a swap deal involving Ansu Fati.

But Fati doesn't want the move to Wolves – leaving Neves somewhat in limbo.

And now, Barcelona have apparently sounded out another target.

Barcelona turn attention to Fulham star and former Wolves target Joao Palhinha
According to SPORT, Barcelona are now looking at a possible move for Palhinha.

Palhinha joined Fulham last summer, after Wolves declined the opportunity to sign him.

New sporting director Deco has been working intensely over the past few days. And it appears he has identified Palhinha as a possible target. Florentino Luis of Benfica is also mentioned.

Neither would be an easy signing to make. Because Barca's economic struggles remain.

There is then some talk about Fulham's asking price. Apparently, they would want at least £43 million. That is around the same as how much Wolves wanted for Neves.

Perhaps crucially, it is mentioned that Fulham would be open to talking about player exchanges.

Ruben Neves to Barcelona looking deader by the day, as Catalan giants target his international teammate Joao Palhinha
So SPORT now believe Barca are looking at two other players for their midfielder.

And this latest report casts further doubt on Neves joining Barcelona.

It is interesting because Palhinha – an international teammate of Neves – would arguably be even more expensive than Neves since he has far longer on his contract Fulham than Neves does at Wolves.

So it will again be a difficult deal for them to pull off.

But the suggestion from SPORT is that Deco really believes Palhinha is a good fit for Barca.

Maybe they plan to offer the Cottagers Fati, like they did with Wolves.
