Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips prefers Bolton Wanderers to Newcastle United and Fulham FC

Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has reportedly put Bolton Wanderers to the head of his list of suitors.

The People claims Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has registered his interest and hopes to agree a loan deal in the current transfer window.

It is understood Wright-Phillips has made it known that he likes the style of football Wanderers style of football under Coyle.

It seems City want his wages paid in full but could compromise because the player seems more interested in Wanderers than main rival bidders Fulham.

Coyle cools SWP talk
Loan link dismissed as 'pure speculation' by Bolton boss

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has shrugged off reports he is lining up a loan move for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The England international has started just two Premier League games this season and City manager Roberto Mancini admitted last week he is likely to leave the Blues on a short-term deal this month in order to get first-team football.

Birmingham and Fulham were linked with the 29-year-old before Bolton were mooted as a possible destination.

But Wright-Phillips' wages may be beyond Bolton's budget and Coyle confirmed the Trotters have not approached their local rivals.

"We can sit here and a million names can be bandied about," he said.

"But the bottom line is that there is nothing positive or concrete to report on players. It's pure speculation."

Bolton lie seventh in the Premier League after a positive first half of the season and Coyle is yet to act in the transfer window.

"Pure speculation" is usually an admission.

I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again

Fulham - SWP Latest!
Mark Hughes has already expressed his desire to lure Shaun Wright-Phillips to West London and today the tabloid press are, once again, extolling the virtues of such a deal.

A fee of £4 million is being mentioned with the fact that the small fee might well be sufficient to allow Fulham to overcome the, reputed, £70,000 a week salary the player is on.

Burt before we all jump a jig of delight, we should point out that Bolton and Blackburn are also interested in securing some kind of deal for the England international.

Keep watching this space!

The Guardian which is normally one of the more reliable papers are saying were in advanced talks with SWP about a loan deal which we hope to tie up before the w/ends game. I like the idea of a loan to see how he does.

Would be lovely if he was a stopgap until Chamberlain joins for the new season!

good stuff! if we take him on loan and pay all his wages that's a couple of million, a fair amount but for a stopgap its ok. and we might actually see a cross from the byline once in a while too.

The Mail running the same story and saying were unable to buy now as we've allocated all our cash for a new CF which I think we'd all agree is a must.

A loan deal suits us to a t, especially if SWP wants a 4 year (!!!) contract, despite being 30 in the summer.

Ideally we would get him in until the summer, feign interest, then sign a much younger replacement (Chamberlain, well on can dream!) and send SWP back to city.

'a new CF which I think we'd all agree is a must'

Absolutely. Good news if true, let's hope we can find the pen quickly.

SWP's going to be 30 in the summer? That can't be right.
