too Liverpool for £110m....that would then put Palhinha in the £80m+ bracket

Milo

Most tackles in PL last year:

4th Casemiro (£80m) - 88
2nd Caicedo (£111m) - 100
1st Palhina ("going to West Ham for £45m") - 147

Slight anomaly, I would say.

Nope, he's not going anywhere if we want to push on this year. If we have no choice but to sell, then it would be above £100m at least.

Tooting legend

Preference is Chelsea not Liverpool so not sure it's happening.

Why wouldn't he go to Liverpool given they are playing in the Champions League?

London vs Liverpool, its a massive factor in players decisions.

I think it was troy deeney who was saying he knows some players who flat out refused bigger pay days to play up north and stayed in London just because its London

So Liverpool pull out of the Bellingham deal, cry poverty and then buy an slightly-inferior player for more money?

Mental.

Mental.

1) they're desperate 2) they've now sold a couple of players so have more money

If you know you are selling these players then you can buy Bellingham and sell the players after. All of the media have pointed out that the reason West Ham have having issues is that everyone knows they have 100m from Rice and they should have bought the players first then sold him. Why couldnt Liverpool have done it that way? I bet inside the club they knew that they would receive interest on Fabinho and Henderson long before it came into public domain.

Liverpool aren't in the Champions League, they're in Europa League. Chelsea are in nothing.

To be fair, he's about seven years younger than Palhinha, and better on the ball. I thought him and Mac Allister were really impressive at the Cottage early last season (not that it did them much good). Can see why Liverpool would go for both

We did really well to get Palhinha on such a long contract - replacing him would have been a nightmare. There aren't a lot of a players like him around as it is, and the market this summer is just insane

No Chelsea are in Fulham

Carborundum

Speaking with a Liverpool ST holder, the real desperation there is for a right back who can actually defend.  If TA-A is to become a midfielder, they are now relatively well stocked in the middle.

Doubt they knew they would be getting stupid bids from the Saudis

They're doing the City/Stones thing with him aren't they? Right back out of possession, centre midfield in possession?

I'd have thought they'd want someone who can play centre back but cover the right side, like Konate does for them or Walker does at City

Yeah, Palhinha is a fantastic tackler and as an old school defensive midfielder likely one of the best in the world and if this was 10 years ago the big clubs would be all over Palhinha. However, I was never too worried about Liverpool or City or Arsenal coming for him simply because hes not good enough on the ball.

You could see Rice struggling at times with the pace of Arsenals passing during the weekend. And Rice is a better passer than Palhinha.

So just taking the odd stat and trying to prove a point isnt really working.
