Fulham Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Montiel, Broja, Dier

We suppose this article is basically Tinder for Fulham fans. Don't swipe right, scroll down and see who takes your fancy, Cam's the guru you never knew you needed until now.

So, anyway, we've £46m extra to play with now, blood money though it may be, and with a fortnight to go until the transfer window slams shut, we have to shake some tail feathers and get a wiggle on. A sudden influx of activity is forecast, it always is at the business end of silly season for Fulham so turn those frowns upside down, people, we're in for a white-knuckled ride, fuelled by Tony Khan's magic.

Gonzalo Montiel – Sevilla CF
World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel could be poised for a summer switch to SW6 as sources close to TEAMtalk have informed the publication that Fulham are considering the Sevilla right-back as a rotational option for Kenny Tete. Montiel dispatched the crucial spot kick as Argentina downed France on penalties in the 2022 World Cup Final and he also made an appearance from the bench in the Super Cup Final against Manchester City.

The Whites, however, will seemingly have to fend off Nottingham Forest (surprise, surprise), as TyC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo believes the Tricky Trees are marginally ahead in the race for the 26 year old, as they can offer him greater first-team opportunities. A fee of £12m is thought to be enough to prise Montiel from the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium and, if anything, it would be a real collector's item to have a World Cup champion in the mix. As cover and and competition for Tete, Gonzalo's absolutely ideal and I reckon we could knock the Andalusians down, but we'd have to act fast and bargain well.

Juan Ignacio Nardoni – Racing Club
Subject to a Tuttomercatoweb article, Racing Club's rising midfield star Juan Ignacio Nardoni is apparently on Fulham transfer radar, although a series of unnamed sides from across Europe are also monitoring the 21-year-old's availability.

Nardoni departed CA Unión for Racing Club earlier this year and he has been in glittering form for the Argentine outfit. In 35 outings, Nardoni has seven goal contributions to his credit and as he's a physical presence, he's capable of deputising a deeper role in the middle of the park, as well as an advanced berth. La Academia value their asset at €25m, which is fair game considering his contract runs dry in 2025.

Riccardo Orsolini – Bologna
Recently, respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio disclosed that Fulham have made contact with Bologna regarding Riccardo Orsolini and Corriere Di Bologna also suggest that the Whites should 'soon present' an initial bid for the 26-year-old winger.

A figure of €10m has been mentioned and the newspaper states that Orsolini's agent, Michelangelo Minieri, met bologna club officials to discuss his client's future. The Rossoblù are apparently willing to offload the Italy international and Nicolás Domínguez to raise transfer funds. Orsolini netted 11 goals and provided four assists last season, and if there's any movement on the asking price, I don't see why we wouldn't take a punt on him.

Armando Broja – Chelsea
Fulham may be involved in talks with Chelsea for Callum Hudson-Odoi but another Blues youngster in Armando Broja could also be set to jump across SW6 as transfer informant Dean Jones – speaking to The Done Deal Show – revealed that the Whites are exploring the possibility of acquiring the 21-year-old Albania international striker.

Broja is currently recovering from a lengthy ACL rupture but despite the attacker's unfortunate setback, Jones said:  "West Ham have had an eye on Broja for a while and Fulham are having tentative steps around looking at the Broja perspective."

If we're wanting to replicate a system similar to how it was with Mitrovic up top, Broja would slot in rather well. Strong, imposing, he's more or less a younger version of Mitro but I'd argue that he maybe isn't completely ready to spearhead a Premier League team as a first choice, not after the horrible injury he sustained anyway. He's got years ahead of him, we should take him into consideration but we shouldn't hedge our bets on him.

Arthur Theate – Stade Rennais
It's renowned French publication L'Equipe's understanding that Fulham are Liverpool will supposedly lock horns for Rennes centre-half Arthur Theate. The Ligue 1 side qualified for the Champions League last season with a top four finish and are reluctant to part ways with the 23 year old, who was eyed by West Ham United last summer.

During his debut season at Roazhon Park following his £19m move from Bologna, Theate featured heavily in all competitions, that's 42 outings overall, and he is currently a trusted mainstay in Will Still's set-up. The Belgium international defender shows genuine promise, he's already demanded high asking prices in recent moves and he is repaying Les Rennais with his steady, reliable and consistent performances. Stick him on your shortlist, Tony.

Eric Dier – Tottenham Hotspur
If Fulham are to sell Tosin Adarabioyo in the next two weeks, RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins is under the impression that Marco Silva would prefer to deal with Tottenham Hotspur, so the Whites could purchase Eric Dier in return. It's thought Tosin already has a personal agreement with French side AS Monaco but a proposed move to the Stade Louis II seemingly isn't conducive to our transfer plans as if he departs, we'd want an instant replacement.

Dier is supposedly surplus to requirement at Spurs, doubt has been cast over his future in north London due to recent omissions from matchday squads and if we're able to trade Tosin for the England international, I wouldn't be set against it. We may not accommodate a back three or five but the 29-year-old's documented adaptability could be beneficial and though he's one for a clanger, I'd back him to reach his best form if he was granted regular minutes with a fresh set of targets. For me, he'd bolster our ranks without question and truthfully, if push came to shove, I'd prefer Tottenham's unwanted man over our wantaway fourth choice every single time.

Moise Kean – Juventus
Once of Everton, Juventus striker Moise Kean isn't favoured in Turin and various reports from Italy – cited by Football-Italia – claim that Fulham are keen on a swoop for the Italy international – pardon the shameless pun – in the aftermath of Mitrovic's multi-million pound move to Saudi Arabia.

Sevilla and Inter Milan have also been pinpointed as potential suitors but nothing concrete has surfaced. A suspected bruised tibia kept the attacker out of Juve's squad which travelled to Udinese on Sunday evening, Bianconeri spokespeople are adamant his absence has nothing to do with off-field matters other than injury and I'm glad for that. There are much better options out there than Kean so I hope we swerve this one, if there is indeed smoke to go with the fire.

Banished Tottenham star linked with new Prem suitor as real reason for transfer preference emerges
Eric Dier has become a target for Fulham after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur, according to an update on the chances of Tosin Adarabioyo going in the other direction.

Dier is yet to feature for Tottenham since Ange Postecoglou took charge, which has led to doubts about his future. The fact he is into the final year of his contract in north London does not help his chances of staying at Spurs either.

Crystal Palace were recently said to have registered their interest in Dier. However, it appears they now face competition from a London rival in the shape of Fulham.

According to RMC Sport, Fulham have taken an interest in the 29-year-old. Marco Silva rates him for his versatility, which allows him to be an option in either defence or midfield.

It is perhaps in defence that Dier would be most useful to Fulham, since they are bracing themselves for the departure of Adarabioyo, who is similarly into the final year of his contract.

Tottenham have coincidentally been showing an interest in Adarabioyo, but he would prefer to join Monaco. However, Fulham have been pushing for him to go to Spurs instead – as has his agent.

With Dier now potentially on offer in return, it is becoming clearer why Fulham would rather do business with their Premier League rivals.

But Adarabioyo would be in line to earn a better salary at Monaco than Tottenham – having already agreed a salary – and is also convinced he would get more regular gametime in Ligue 1. Indeed, at Monaco, he could fill the void left by Chelsea new boy, Axel Disasi.

Monaco fail to find agreement with Fulham for Adarabioyo
However, Fulham have rejected two offers from Monaco so far. The most recent was worth €10m (£8.6m). Their positive relations with Tottenham could open up a potential part-exchange deal before the transfer window closes instead.

Funnily enough, the recent report detailing Crystal Palace's interest in Dier also suggested Monaco as suitors for him, although RMC Sport has not made any such reference.

Dier has made more than 350 appearances for Tottenham since joining them from Sporting CP almost a decade ago. A new challenge could be due for the England international, though.

Tottenham have been aiming to evolve their defence this summer and recently signed Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg with that in mind. If they offload Dier, it would make sense for them to target an additional reinforcement for their rearguard.

At the age of 25, Adarabioyo could become a long-term successor to Dier at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But Postecoglou's side have their work cut out to convince him to make the move.

Why Fulham fans shouldn't press the panic button

Jack Stroudley attempts to salvage some positivity from the Weekend.

Let's not beat around the bush: Saturday's performance against Brentford was our worst in Marco Silva's tenure since probably Coventry City back in the Championship. We were second to every ball, devoid of any ideas going forward and careless in possession.

Brentford weren't particularly fantastic on the weekend but just capitalised on our silly mistakes. This is a wake up call and with Mitrovic's departure now confirmed it just feels like everything is pouring down on Fulham. But I think some perspective is needed, which I'm going to try and provide.

Big shoes to fill
Let's start with the Mitrovic departure. Our Serbian talisman is gone and the importance of replacing him correctly cannot be underestimated. Jimenez played against Brentford on Saturday and was pretty poor throughout, we've got Carlos Vinicius but we need a proven goal-scorer. Marco Silva has come out and said Fulham will be reinvesting the money into another striker, let's just hope it's reinvested correctly.

Fulham finished 10th last season and for the most part were exceptional, showing no fear to anyone and giving every team a game. The Fulham I saw last season weren't there on Saturday and I think that some reality might need to be had about our ambitions for this season. With Mitrovic gone and key players like Ream unfortunately looking off the pace, Fulham's ambition for me has to be getting those magic 40 points. A drop-off was expected by most, probably not to the standard we saw on Saturday but I'm still confident we'll be fine.

A wake-up call
If there's ever a time for a wake-up call, it's the second game of the season. Fulham beat Everton on the opening day 1-0 and while the result was great, the performance wasn't and maybe papered over some cracks in terms of this current squads ability. Fulham have to spend in the transfer market now, we've got just under two weeks to bring in the right players to plug the gaps and get the ball rolling.

The Khan's love a late deal and have brought players in late time and time again. I feel this has been to the detriment of Fulham this season as we look in a pretty bad shape but we know the club are going to invest, hopefully Saturday's performance was enough to show the Khans' just how much we need to invest.

Free hits
I don't like to use the term 'free hit' but given the performance against Brentford, are next two league fixtures away to Arsenal and Manchester City are certainly that. Fulham have just under four weeks until Luton Town at home with an international break squeezed in. I don't want to call it a 'mini pre-season' but the club should be looking to get these players in and treat the next four weeks as that.

Get these new signings in and gel them into the way we play with all focus on being ready for after the international break where we play the likes of Luton, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace and can hopefully pick up a solid amount of points.

Fulham don't need to hit the panic button just yet, the three points against Everton certainly helps alleviate panic but the Brentford performance would've provided some understandable concerns. The next few weeks are crucial for Fulham this season and I've got confidence we can bring in the right players and steer the ship towards safety.

Fulham among Premier League clubs interested in Union Berlin's Josip Juranović
Fulham are among several clubs from the Premier League that have signalled an interest in signing Union Berlin's Josip Juranović (28), according to Kicker. The Croatian, although comfortable in Berlin, is reportedly unhappy with his playing time.

Veteran Christopher Trimmel (36) started ahead of Juranović as Union beat Mainz 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. Although the former Celtic defender only found a place on the bench, Kicker note that a departure is probably unlikely as we enter the latter stages of the transfer window, because he still feels comfortable at the club.

Since his move from Celtic in January 2022 for just over €8.5m, Juranović has played 19 games across all competitions for Die Eisernen, scoring four and creating three. As Union head into a Champions League campaign, squad depth is key and the Croatian international will no doubt get the playing time that he desires this season.

Jay Stansfield news: QPR and Sunderland chase latest, Marco Silva on player's future at Fulham
The Fulham striker has been linked with a number of Championship clubs

As the summer transfer window comes to a close over the course of the next few weeks, there is likely to be a number of young Premier League players on the move in search of more regular game time in the Football League, to help their development.

One player who looks as though he will find himself making such a move, is Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.

Last season, the 20-year-old impressed during a temporary spell in League One with his dad Adam's former club Exeter City, where he scored nine goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.

This season however, it looks as though the striker is going to get the chance to show what he can do at a higher level, with plenty of Championship clubs being linked with a move for the Fulham man.

As a result, this is a deal that will generate plenty of interest and discussion, so we've taken a look at the latest news surrounding a potential transfer for Stansfield, right here.

Potential suitors emerging with pursuits being stepped up
It was initially reported that QPR were one of four Championship clubs who are keen on a deal for Stansfield, and other possible destinations for the striker have since come to light.

As exclusively revealed by Football League World, Sunderland and Millwall are also among the list of clubs who are keen to bring the 20-year-old to the Championship for this season.

Meanwhile, journalist Darren Witcoop has since claimed that it is now QPR and Sunderland who are pushing the hardest to complete a deal for the striker, suggesting the battle for his services may soon be reaching its final stages.

Silva comments on Stansfield
Amid that interest there is in Stansfield, it seems as though there is a hope from Fulham that the striker will be able to complete a temporary move away from Craven Cottage this summer.

However, while there is the hope for such an agreement, that will apparently only happen if the move is seen to be right both for Stansfield, and Fulham themselves.

Speaking about the possibility of Stansfield going out on loan before the window closes at the end of this month, Fulham manager Marco Silva told West London Sport: "It is a good sign that all these clubs, and they are good Championship clubs, want Jay.

"It is good for his confidence. He is a fantastic boy, we all love him at this football club. I know he wants to play football and to be on the pitch every single weekend and in every single match.

"We are going to take a decision for him but it depends on our market as well and our squad. It is up to us to decide whether he should go out and play games week in week out.

"Even if it was in a lower division for eight months at Exeter, he has come back stronger and grown as a football player.

"But it is important for us where he plays. We don't want to put him at just any club. He needs to go to a club that play in a certain way, that is important for us as well.

"I am in contact with him every day, I know what he would like to happen but let's see what is best for the club as well."

Mowbray makes admission
Silva is not the only manager to have been speaking about the interest that has emerged in Stansfield over the course of the past few days.

With Sunderland having also been heavily linked with a move for the 20-year-old recently, the Black Cats' boss, Tony Mowbray, is seemingly making no secret of his own admiration and interest in the Fulham striker, even if he is not the only potential target he is looking at.

Speaking about his own side's rumoured pursuit of a loan move for Stansfield, Mowbray told The Chronicle: "The way we work at this football club, I think we have two, three, or maybe even four names that we are juggling.

"I shouldn't talk about the boy [Stansfield] because nothing is done yet, but he is one of the players we have had conversations about, but there are two or three other players that we have had conversations about.

"We're juggling them all at the moment and it will be interesting to see which of them falls."

Folarin Balogun Arsenal transfer: Social media hint, Tottenham hold up, Fulham boost

Arsenal transfer news: The latest on the future of young centre-forward Folarin Balogun as the likes of Fulham, Monaco and Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with the Hale End academy graduate

Folarin Balogun's future at Arsenal has dominated headlines during the summer transfer window.

The Hale End academy graduate wasn't involved during last week's 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest despite the fact that first-choice striker Gabriel Jesus is currently sidelined due to a knee injury. The Gunners are open to selling the USMNT star this summer for the right price, football.london understands.

Serie A giants Inter Milan have been put off by the north London club's £50million price tag whilst Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have also seen an offer turned down by Mikel Arteta's side, although they are expected to return with an improved offer. So, football.london has taken a look at everything you need to know about the 22-year-old's future at the Emirates Stadium below.

Balogun gives fans hint on exit
The USMNT international shared a hint as to his current situation with the Arsenal team on his social media this afternoon, showing himself alone in one of the team's gyms.

Having trained alone during the club's preseason tour of the U.S, it's possible Balogun has been working out alone or away from the first team for a significant period of time and is preparing for a move away by keeping his fitness levels up.

A single 'thumbs up' emoji was the caption, highlighting Balogun's loneliness as the rest of the squad travel down to Selhurst Park to face off against Crystal Palace tonight looking for back-to-back wins to kickoff their Premier League campaign.

Ligue 1 rival holdup
Reports suggest that Tottenham, who are interested in the 22-year-old, have both him and Canadian international Jonathan David at the top of their list of targets to secure before the window closes.

The introduction of David into the mix could see one option open to Balogun be shut off quickly, and memories can be cast back to last season where David was just one of three players to score more goals than the Gunners striker in Ligue 1.

Only Kylian Mbappe (29), Alexandre Lacazette (27) and David (24) netted more times than the USMNT star, who spent the season with Reims scoring 21 times in 37 appearances.

Fulham boost
Premier League side Fulham have been linked with a move for Balogun in recent times.

The Cottagers are in need of a centre-forward after Aleksandar Mitrovic left to join the Saudi Pro League for a fee worth in the region of £45million. The Gunners may now be hoping that Marco Silva's side use that windfall to make a move for Balogun, with a bidding war the best possible solution for Arteta and Co.

Monaco message
Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has been advised to pick AS Monaco as his next club with a transfer away from Emirates Stadium appearing highly likely.

Speaking to bettingexpert, the former Arsenal defender said: "I'm not in his shoes, but I would go back to Ligue 1 and choose Monaco. "They need a striker and one like him. He would fit in well there, and he knows Ligue 1.

"It would make sense to go and establish himself at Monaco and continue the good run he had with the 20-odd goals he scored. He should continue his progression with a side that is trying to build a competitive side that can go back to competing for the Champions League places."

Chelsea join race
Chelsea are the latest side to show interest in a move for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window, reports Sky Sports News. The forward has been admired by the Blues, though the club are yet to make an opening bid, with the Gunners valuing him at £50million.

Surprise Tottenham interest
Tottenham are reportedly interested in a shock move for Balogun after losing record goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last weekend.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Arsenal striker is one of the players that Spurs are considering. Taremi, Gift Orban, Dusan Vlahovic and Jonathan David have all been linked with a move to north London, also.

Mikel Arteta update
Speaking ahead of the clash against Nottingham Forest this weekend, Arteta was coy in his response when asked for an update on Balogun's future at the club. The Arsenal boss said: "I cannot talk about internal things here, sorry."

Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz all have the ability to fill the void left by Jesus' absence. Arteta did provide an update on the Brazilian's fitness - with Jesus set to return to some form of training next week.

Arteta said: "It's a bit early still. He's doing really well since his operation.

"Hopefully he can start to do some activities next week. It's something that we want to be cautious about and make sure he comes back the right way."

Inter decision
ccording to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Inter have pulled out of the race to sign Balogun this summer. Instead, the Italian giants are looking at signing either Marko Arnautovic or Mehdi Taremi.

Inter have communicated their decision to Balogun and Arsenal - with Monaco now seemingly having a free run at signing the 22-year-old.

Monaco agreement reached
A report from RMC Sport has claimed that Monaco's opening bid was worth €40million (£34million) - £16million lower than the Gunners' reported £50million asking price - but the Ligue 1 side intend to return with an improved offer. The report adds that the French outfit have made signing Balogun their priority and already have agreed personal terms with the Hale End graduate.

Monaco bid rejected
Arsenal have rejected a bid from Monaco for Folarin Balogun, football.london understands.

The pair faced each other in the Emirates Cup last week in a match which Arsenal eventually won on penalties. Balogun was absent from the game with a thigh injury, and it has now emerged that Monaco submitted a formal offer for the American international after the game. This offer has been knocked back.

Inter interest revived
Inter Milan had turned their attention to signing Gianluca Scamacca but the Italian international has decided to join Atalanta instead. As a result, Inter are pivoting their attention back to signing Balogun, as per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on Twitter, Romano said: "Inter are prepared to approach Arsenal again for Folarin Balogun. Decision has been made, new round of talks will now follow

"#Inter After Scamacca deal collapsed, Inter will bid again for Balogun who's fav option of the board."

Arteta stance
Balogun has an opportunity to feature for Arsenal in the coming weeks if he can find some fitness after Gabriel Jesus was ruled out with injury. When asked what the blow meant for Balogun, Arteta said: "The plans with Flo don't change at all but unfortunately with Gabby [Gabriel Jesus] we're not going to have him.

"We have other options to play with different qualities of players and we will adapt.

Balogun demand
Balogun has asked Arsenal to lower their price demand for him as the player sees it as a reason for why no move has emerged so far, the journalist Ben Jacobs has said.

"Inter felt £45m was too high and have now bid for West Ham's Gianluca Scamacca," he wrote on Twitter. "They haven't entirely ruled out signing Balogun, though."

He adds: "Balogun feels Arsenal have added £10m extra to fee and it's pricing him out the market. #AFC argue their valuation is more than fair given his 22 goals last season at Reims and potential. Some at the club want £50m as a minimum.

"Keep an eye on West Ham. They haven't moved for Balogun yet but do like the player. Multiple Premier League have enquired."

Inter move on
Inter have moved on from talks with Arsenal over a move for Folarin Balogun this summer, Fabrizio Romano writes. "Inter have currently stopped talks for Folarin Balogun deal as USMNT striker is considered too expensive," the transfer expert reports on Twitter

"Focus on Gianluca Scamacca deal, first bid rejected by West Ham but Inter will send new one soon. Talks never took place for Jonathan David; he's also too expensive."

Arsenal preference
Ben Jacobs has revealed that Arsenal would prefer to keep Folarin Balogun this summer and integrate him into the squad next season. He told The Boot Room: "We know that Inter [Milan] have been interested in him having given up on Romelu Lukaku.

"Arsenal's valuation for Balogun rightly so has gone up significantly and that is because he had a fantastic season last campaign and Balogun has made it clear, he's said it on record that he's not prepared to go out on loan.

"Which is a shame for Arsenal because they are almost certain if Balogun said to [Mikel] Arteta, 'Loan me out and I'll come back in a year', then that would be Arsenal's preference.

"So, we now have to wait and see how that one is going to progress. It might have something in the region of £45m to make a deal for Balogun."

Erik ten Hag considering Balogun move
Manchester United have been considering a move for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun despite agreeing personal terms with Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund. Erik ten Hag's side are yet to agree a fee with the Italian club - who are demanding €70million (£60m) plus €10million (£8.5m) in add-ons.

Hojlund has rejected an approach from Paris Saint-Germain as he looks to force through a move to Old Trafford - but if a fee cannot be agreed between United and Atalanta, the Premier League side may need to turn their focus to Balogun. The USMNT international has been considered as a potential target, according to The Independent.

Inter offer rejected
Arsenal have turned down a one-year loan for Balogun from Inter with a £5million ($6.4m) fee for the season plus an obligation to buy worth £30million ($38m).

It still falls below the valuation Arsenal have of the player but matches that of Inter's bid to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club. Although they are also looking at Alvaro Morata, it is said that the Italian side have made Balogun their priority.

Injury issue
Arteta revealed that Balogun has been training away from his teammates due to an injury. It kept him out of the side that defeat Barcelona 5-3.

"He was unavailable," Arteta said. "He has a little foot injury and hasn't been training with us." He also added: "We will see [when he will return]. First of all, he needs to be fit and play minutes."

Arteta decision
Folarin Balogun trained separately from the rest of the Arsenal squad as the continued their pre-season preparations in L.A.

The American striker was part of the group for their initial warm ups and stretches. However, as the rest of the squad went off to do drills involving the ball, Balogun went back into the dressing room before emerging to do shuttle runs with a fitness coach on his own.

AC Milan interest
AC Milan are set to rival Inter for Balogun, the Independent write, with Stefano Pioli's side reinstating their interest. They are willing to go head-to-head with their fierce rivals in order to make it happen as well.

The Gunners are said to be looking to raise £70million ($89m) from the sales of Balogun and Kieran Tierney as they look to add money to the bank with potential incomings still being considered.

Loan move
Inter Milan's first move for Balogun could be in the form of a season-long loan, worth €5million (£4.2m) that includes a €35million (£30m) mandatory fee next summer.

Tuttosport (via FCinter1908) claim that Nerazzurri are keen to sign Balogun and are prioritising a move for him over Alvaro Morata.

Offer incoming
Inter are readying a €40million (£34million) bid for Balogun, according to CBS Sports.

It is claimed that the Serie A giants have made the Hale End academy graduate their first choice target, with an opening bid expected imminently. However, it will likely fall short of the Gunners' demands, which are said to be £50million.

The report goes on to add that Brighton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United also admire the 22-year-old.

Inter enter race
Inter Milan look to be targeting a move for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun after making their stance clear on Romelu Lukaku.

The journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Inter plan to start next week by asking for the 'final conditions' needed to bring Balogun to the San Siro. It has previously been claimed that Arsenal will demand £50million for Balogun and Romano adds that Inter are prepared to pay an 'important fee' in order to get their man.

Leipzig move
RB Leipzig have now taken another step to completing a deal for Lois Openda, who would be an alternative and replacement to Balogun after his price was deemed too steep by the Bundesliga side.

Openda, who was also a target for Arsenal, has now agreed to become the most expensive purchase in Leipzig's history as a £32.4million ($41.6m) fee is agreed ahead of his move, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

Milan dream
AC Milan's dream signing in attack is Arsenal star Balogun, according to Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio.

It is claimed that the Serie A giants are keen to bolster their frontline this summer, identifying the Hale End academy graduate as the perfect option. Milan have had a recent influx of cash thanks to their £60million sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United.

RB Leipzig twist
ccording to German outlet Bild, RB Leipzig could make a move for Balogun if their pursuit of RC Lens frontman Loïs Openda is unsuccessful.

The Bundesliga outfit are said to have had a fourth bid of €43.5million (£37.2m) rejected by the Ligue 1 side, leaving Leipzig to consider an alternative to the Belgian centre-forward. A move for Balogun could then be the option for Leipzig, who had previously believed that the Gunners' price tag for the 22-year-old was too high.

football.london understands that Leipzig do indeed hold an interest in the striker, with Marco Rose's side in the market for a replacement for Christopher Nkunku following the Frenchman's move to Chelsea.

Crystal Palace among interested clubs
ournalist Ryan Taylor has provided an update on Balogun's future, naming Crystal Palace as one of the USA international's suitors, while a long list of clubs from elsewhere in Europe could also be in the race. Taylor told Give Me Sport: "They are looking at him, from what I understand.

"I've had conversations about Balogun's future. There are a lot of clubs informed on his situation.

"Palace are one, Inter Milan, Monaco, Marseille, Leipzig, AC Milan, but I think ultimately, the price tag's going to prove complicated for a lot of these clubs because Arsenal know he's a really talented player."

Chelsea talks
Balogun's representatives have reportedly held surprising talks with Chelsea over the possibility of the 22-year-old joining the club.

According to Footballtransfers.com, Balogun's management have 'touched base' with the Gunners' London rivals.

Decision hint
Balogun has teased that a decision over his future is close to being decided. On Twitter on June 30, the striker wrote: "It is time!" The tweet was sent at 6am, from Enfield, London, hinting talks with the club could be imminent.

Marseille interest
Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are reportedly keen on Balogun this summer. According to L'Equipe, the French side accept that the USMNT striker will be expensive. Les Phoceens reportedly want a new partner for ex-Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez.

RB Leipzig issue
German side RB Leipzig are said to be exploring other options this summer after a £35million ($44.5m) price tag was slapped on the forward. It is reported that the price has put them off pushing further for Balogun this window.

Loan choice made
Balogun has come out in full force, confirming that he will not be heading out on loan this summer. Speaking after scoring his first goal for USMNT he said on his future: "What I can say is that I definitely won't go on loan again.

"I'm not sure on the discussions that are going to take place, I'm not sure what's going to happen. But I'm just committed to now, I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family."

Ligue 1 interest
Despite having Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun at their disposal, Arsenal are reportedly planning a move for Montpellier forward Elye Wahi.

The 20-year-old has scored over 30 Ligue 1 goals and has attracted interest from Europe.

European hunt
AC Milan, Inter Milan, RB Leipzig, Marseille and AS Monaco are all in the race for Balogun's signature this summer, according to The Athletic.

Serie A champions Napoli are also monitoring the situation as they potentially look for a replacement for Victor Osimhen.

Future uncertainty
Back in March, Balogun spoke about his plans for the summer transfer window amid continued speculation surrounding his future.

"Contractually I have to go back," he told the official Ligue 1 website. "Because the loan was only for one year so that was always the agreement. But I wouldn't, um, I'm not sure what is going to happen in the future.

"A lot could happen in football, a lot could change, and it just depends on the conversations we have between me and the club in the summer, and we'll see what happens."

Arteta stance
Back in February, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta ruled out to provide any indication of his plan on Balogun over the summer. "The plan is that he finishes his period there, assess the situation where he is, where we are, then sit down and plan the next chapter in his developing career," the Gunners boss said of Balogun.

"[I am] So happy for him," the Spaniard added. "He's a boy with a really clear idea of what he wants to do in his career, really ambitious, really committed and he's really brave. We discussed before whether it was the right place to go and other choices that he had. He was so convinced and I'm really happy for him because he deserves what he's getting.

"He's got something special. That's why we gave him a long-term contract and have faith in him, and give him the long period that he's having now, because the period he's having now is different to the one before at Middlesbrough."

Fulham face fight to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi as Everton and Nottingham Forest join transfer race

Chelsea demanding £8m for 22-year-old

Fulham face renewed competition for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi after Everton and Nottingham Forest entered the race to sign the winger.

The 22-year-old has verbally agreed terms over a move to Craven Cottage and is desperate to leave Chelsea to get his career back on track.

Hudson-Odoi is willing to take a significant pay cut to leave Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are frustrated Fulham will not pay the £8million asking price but the Cottagers believe the Blues are demanding too much as they will soon save more than £120,000 a week in wages.

Fulham confirmed the departure of striker Aleksandr Mitrovic on Saturday, with the Serbian international joining Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal for £46m.

They have already signed Raul Jimenez but Marco Silva has admitted the club face a fight to replace Mitrovic, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season.

"It's not just about replacing Mitrovic," said the Fulham boss after Saturday's defeat to Brentford. "Unfortunately we still have many things to do (in the transfer window) and, unfortunately for me as manager of this football club, we still have four or five players to sign.

"We have 15 days to finish in the market and the striker position and the striker market is not an easy one, as you know, because many clubs are also looking for the same.

Transfer guru Romano reveals Monaco are preparing new bid for Tottenham target Tosin
Monaco are not ready to give up on their pursuit of Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo with Fulham rejecting their first two bids for the Manchester City Academy product.

The right-footed centre-back has also been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur with Frank Trimboli, the agent in charge of negotiating his exit from Craven Cottage, doing everything possible to make him move to Spurs

However, Tosin has insisted that he doesn't want to move to Spurs as he would prefer a transfer to Monaco.

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the French Ligue 1 outfit are ready to submit a new formal bid for the Fulham defender.

Monaco consider the 27-year-old a priority target for their centre-back position and are determined to get him on their books before the end of the transfer window.

Tosin seems to have fallen out with the Cottagers' hierarchy after he refused to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring at the end of this season.

He has been omitted by Marco Silva in the club's first two games of the new Premier League season.

£10m ace could join Premier League club months after Celtic sold him
Josip Juranovic could be on his way to the Premier League just months after leaving Celtic with reports in Germany linking Fulham with the Union Berlin full-back.

The Croatia international, Kicker say, is 'not entirely satisfied' with his playing time at arguably Europe's greatest overperformers; Union Berlin going from the lower leagues to the Champions League in the blink of an eye.

A £10 million signing from Scottish giants Celtic in January, Josip Juranovic did not even get off the bench during this weekend's 4-1 hammering of Mainz.

And while the World Cup semi-finalist is not desperate to leave before the window closes next week, do not rule out Juranovic having his head turned if Fulham step up their interest.

Fulham eye former Celtic ace Josip Juranovic
The Cottagers are lookout for full-backs. Then again, a starting spot would not be guaranteed at Fulham either. Juranovic would find himself in direct competition with Kenny Tete; one of the most consistent right-sided defenders in the Premier League last season. And while the former Celtic ace is capable of thriving on the left as well, Marco Silva already has Antonee Robinson and new £19 million signing Calvin Bassey at his disposal.

Bassey, who came up against Juranovic in the Old Firm derby, joined Fulham from Ajax this summer, just one year after becoming the most expensive export in Rangers' history.

Fulham had shown an interest in Gonzalo Montiel; the Argentina international who scored those winning penalties in the finals of the World Cup and the Europa League. Montiel, however, is joining Nottingham Forest instead.

Forest have agreed a £9.4 million deal with Sevilla, per the Daily Mail.

Champions League football on the horizon
As far as Union Berlin director Oliver Ruhnert is concerned, however, the arrival of players as talented and as experienced as Juranovic is testament to just how far his club have come in such a short space of time, Champions League qualification secured for the first ever time after a fourth-place finish in 2022/23.

"We came at the right moment with players like Juranovic and (Aissa) Ladouni. A few years ago, (these) players would probably have said 'no'. But you see that work has been done successfully here in recent years. That makes it easier for you (to say 'yes')," Ruhnert explains.

"At first, we had the expectation that (the Juranovic deal) would probably not work out. We stuck with it, and were rewarded in the end.

"Both are very positive guys in the dressing room. That is extremely gratifying. That's exactly what we wanted."

Fulham ramp up efforts to lure Arsenal talent Folarin Balogun following their unwilling loss of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal - but the Gunners want £50m for USA starlet

22-year-old had a blistering season as the sharp prong of Reims' attack on-loan
Coach Marco Silva is also assessing other options as the window begins to close

Fulham are stepping up their efforts to tempt Folarin Balogun to join from Arsenal.

Saturday's 3-0 derby defeat to Brentford coupled with the untimely departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al Hilal has sharpened the focus on bringing in a goalscorer.

Mail Sport reported last week that Chelsea have also shown an interest in the USA international while Monaco remain in the frame after having an offer rejected.

Arsenal are holding out for £50million for the Brooklyn-born forward who scored 22 goals on loan at Reims last season.

That's more than Fulham and Co would like to pay but Marco Silva is hopeful a compromise can be reached as they look to offer £35m plus add ons.

Fulham are setting their sights on tempting Arsenal starlet Folarin Balogun across London

Marco Silva is keen to bolster his attacking reinforcements as well as strengthen his options

Fulham have considered other options with the likes of Hugo Ekitike from Paris St Germain on their radar but Balogun talks are ongoing.

Silva has underlined the need to strengthen throughout his squad. A move for Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is still a possible while they are competing with Nottingham Forest for Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Mail Sport revealed last week that Tottenham are back in the frame for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo who has an offer from Monaco.

The Principality side have failed to reach agreement with Fulham so far for the 25-year-old so have been considering Spurs' Davinson Sanchez as an alternative.

Fulham Keen On Bundesliga Defender
Fulham are keeping a keen eye on Union Berlin full-back Josip Juranovic, it has been claimed in Germany.

The Cottagers finished in the top half of the Premier League last season and they are looking to replicate their good work this season as well.

They have made three new signings for this campaign and they are looking to add more players before the transfer window closes.

Layvin Kurzawa and Cedric Soares have left for their parent clubs following the end of their respective loan spells and Marco Silva is trying to add at least one more full-back to increase squad depth.

According to German magazine Kicker, the Craven Cottage outfit have shown interest in Union Berlin right-back Juranovic.

The Croatian international has experience of British football gained at Celtic.

Juranovic made 36 appearances for the German club last season and made nine goal contributions in the process.

It has been suggested that even though the Croatian is not a certain starter at the German club, he is unlikely to entertain a move in the transfer window.

Now it remains to be seen if the Cottagers will pursue their Juranovic interest and make an offer for him in the upcoming days.

Everton and Nottingham Forest enter race to sign wantaway Chelsea attacker
Despite agreeing personal terms with Fulham, Callum Hudson-odoi is not guaranteed to play for the Cottagers.

That is because, according to a recent report from the Evening Standard, Everton and Nottingham Forest are now pushing to sign the 22-year-old Chelsea winger.

Fulham have been on the verge of completing a deal for Hudson-odoi, 22, for quite some time but with the Londoners so far refusing to meet Chelsea's £8 million valuation, a final agreement has yet to be reached, despite the player himself being keen to make a move.

Fulham may rue dragging their heels though; the club now face competition from two Premier League rivals.

Everton and Nottingham Forest are both on the lookout for at least one new attacker to help ease their struggles in front of goal, and Hudson-Odoi, who is free to leave Stamford Bridge after failing to become part of Todd Boehly's new era, is thought to be the ideal player for both clubs.

However, despite the late interest from both Sean Dyche and Steve Cooper, Fulham may still have the edge after the Cottagers recently secured a club-record £50 million fee from Saudi side Al-Hilal for striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Fulham fail with Serhou Guirassy approach
Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old French striker Serhou Guirassy from Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart.

According to a report from German outlet BILD, Fulham are keen on signing Serhou Guirassy from Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart. But the Cottagers have failed with a bid to sign the 27-year-old striker, who is not eager to move to the club.

The West London outfit are hoping to bring in attacking reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes. Fulham have recently agreed on a deal to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al Hilal. So they will have to replace the Serbian international.

Guirassy had an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 14 goals. He could prove to be a quality acquisition, and it remains to be seen whether Fulham decide to return with an improved offer for him.

Marco Silva will want his side to push for European football this term, and Fulham certainly need quality reinforcements in order to fulfil their ambitions. Recent reports have also linked the Cottagers with other strikers like Folarin Balogun.

Guirassy could be tempted to join Fulham this summer. The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for the player, and he might look to test himself at the highest level. He has the physical attributes to succeed in English football.

Fulham are an ambitious club with impressive players at their disposal. There is no reason why they cannot push for European qualification with the right additions this summer. But the Stuttgart striker wants to remain at the Bundesliga club and will snub the move to Craven Cottage.

Mitrovic has been a key player for Fulham over the years, and he had an outstanding 2022/23 campaign. Replacing him will not be an easy task for Fulham. Guirassy has the attributes to succeed in English football, and he could fill the void left by the Serbian international this season.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks and whether Fulham can get the deal across the line before the window closes. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers. And it will be interesting to see whether Fulham can turn his head and bring him to West London this summer.

Fulham must use Brentford blueprint before poor start turns nasty

In one sense, Fulham can take heart from the knowledge they are unlikely to endure another day as bad as Saturday.

Midway through their 3-0 home humbling by Brentford, star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was officially sold to Al Hilal in a £46million deal.

Mitrovic scored 14 Premier League goals last season, and the season before that he contributed a Championship record 43 goals in 44 games.

Fulham and Marco Silva must quickly find goals from other avenues and they should look to their conquerors at Craven Cottage for inspiration.

Brentford are without Ivan Toney until January due to his betting ban, but a fluid attacking duo of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have stepped up. They have five goals between them in the first two games, including Wissa's opener and Mbeumo's brace on Saturday.

Fulham must find ways to score regularly without a prolific striker. Summer signing Raul Jimenez from Wolves is experienced but is unlikely to be regular scorer.

And Silva's comments after the game did not bode well for Jimenez's chances of being trusted to fill the void.

"We want four or five players to sign before the finish of the market", he said. "We will do our best [to replace Mitrovic]. We have to find the right player; we have to invest."

Whether or not Fulham sign a new striker, playmakers Andreas Pereira, Willian, Harry Wilson and new signing Adama Traore must supplement Jimenez's return.

Update emerges on Fulham's pursuit of Leicester City player
The Cottagers are still keen to do a deal with Leicester

Fulham are still interested in signing Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne.
Talks between the two clubs are thought to have taken place over a move for the Belgium international.
There are still two years remaining on Castagne's current contract at The King Power Stadium.

Fulham are still interested in signing Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne.

That's according to a report from Sky Sports Transfer Centre (21/08, 12:11), who say that initial talks over a deal for the 27-year-old have already taken place.

Fulham interested in Castagne for much of the summer
This is not the first time that Fulham have been linked with a move for Castagne since Leicester's relegation from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of last season.

Back in July, it was reported by The Evening Standard that the Cottagers, along with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, were interested in a move for Castagne, who joined Leicester from Serie A side Atalanta back in the summer of 2020.

However, no deal has yet materialised for the Belgium international, who is currently still on the books at The King Power Stadium.

Now though, it seems there is a possibility that situation could still change before the transfer market closes at the end of this month.

Castagne still on the radar for Fulham
According to this latest update, Fulham are still interested in completing a move for Castagne before the transfer deadline on 31st August.

Indeed, it is thought that talks between Leicester and Fulham about a potential move for the right-back.

That is a position that the Cottagers may need to strengthen this summer, following the release of Stephen Sessegnon, and with Kevin Mbabu yet to really settle at Craven Cottage following his move from Wolfsburg last summer, spending the second half of last season on loan in Switzerland with Servette.

What is Castagne's situation at Leicester?
Castagne joined Leicester from Atalanta back in the summer of 2020, with the Foxes paying a reported £21.5million fee for the services of the Belgium international.

Since then, Castagne has gone on to make 112 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in that time.

However, the right-back has yet to make a single first-team appearance for Leicester since the start of this season, which could potentially offer an indication as to where his future might lie beyond the end of the transfer window.

As things stand, there are still two years remaining on Castagne's contract with Leicester, securing his future at The King Power Stadium until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Consequently, the Foxes are still in a position to negotiate any offers that might come in for the Belgian between now and the end of the month.

Coping without Castagne
Leicester have already shown since the start of this season that they can still compete in the Championship without the influence of Castagne.

Under new manager Enzo Mascera, the Foxes have won all three of their league games this season to sit second in the current Championship standings, while also progressing through the first round of the Carabao Cup.

The Foxes are next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they make the trip to the New York Stadium to face Rotherham United.

Loan Round-Up: Dramatic Draw for D'Auria-Henry

Luciano D'Auria-Henry made his League One debut in Cheltenham's bizarre 0-0 draw away at Portsmouth.

The wing-back came off the bench early in the second half, but just five minutes later watched on as one of the assistant referees - who himself had replaced an injured lino earlier in the game - limped off.

After an appeal went up over the tannoy at Fratton Park, an emergency official was found from the home crowd and the match was played out with a Pompey fan running the line.

Despite the distraction, the Robins kept the clean sheet to earn their first point of the season in their fourth match.

Elsewhere in the third tier, Kieron Bowie's Northampton earned all three points against high-flying Peterborough.

The 20-year-old came close to opening the deadlock but saw his powerful shot saved by goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic, before the Cobblers snatched the win with a sensational 90th-minute Mitch Pinnock goal.

Elsewhere, Luca Ashby-Hammond was an unused substitute in League Two Crawley's 1-0 defeat to Gillingham, while centre-back Ibane Bowat played 90 minutes in TSV Hartberg's 5-1 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Spurs: Eric Dier swap deal could help land new signing
Marco Silva and Ange Postecoglou could do each other a favour...

As the Premier League season kicks on and the transfer window edges closer and closer to slamming shut, Tottenham could yet enjoy a busy end to the summer.

Still looking to make reinforcements with the money earned from Harry Kane's departure and needing to shift several players out to balance the squad, the Lilywhites could kill two birds with one stone...

What's the latest on Eric Dier and Tosin Adarabioyo?
According to reports, Spurs' interest in Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has left the Cottagers in a position to potentially pursue a deal for Eric Dier this summer, who has emerged as Marco Silva's choice at the London club.

Adarabioyo reportedly only wants to join AS Monaco, but Fulham's reluctance to sell to the Ligue 1 club is due to the fact that they want to sign Dier and hope to use their own defender in a part-swap deal to smooth things over - they would much prefer to do a deal with Spurs.

Adarabioyo's preference for a Monaco move makes a deal complicated, but it certainly looks like one to keep an eye on as the transfer window comes to an end, and the two clubs have a good relationship, as per RMC Sport, via Sport Witness.

Should Spurs swap Dier for Adarabioyo?
Losing 29-year-old Dier and replacing him with 25-year-old Adarabioyo would certainly be an upgrade for the Lilywhites, especially if Ange Postecoglou doesn't particularly rate the current Spurs man, having left him out of his plans so far.

The Fulham defender has earned plenty of deserved praise from current manager Silva, too, who said, via TBR Football: "And with Tosin, we know what we expect from him. Of course, quality on the ball in the first build-up, to find the players between the lines. Tosin had a good game and did what we expected."

Meanwhile, Dier struggled in the previous campaign, as the Lilywhites failed to qualify for European football altogether. The England international featured heavily for the North London club, making 33 appearances, and was a regular feature in some of the club's more humiliating results.

Statistically speaking, when compared to Adarabioyo last season, as per FBref, Dier made fewer progressive passes, fewer progressive carries, and fewer clearances per 90. Of course, Dier's ability to play in midfield, and in defence, could prove to be a major benefit for Fulham, but there's no doubt Spurs would be getting the player with the higher ceiling.

Even Pep Guardiola has spoken glowlingly about the 6 foot 5 ace, saying back in 2021: "He's a guy for the academy, finally, he took his position in the Premier League and we are more than delighted the level he's showing. He deserves it, he's an exceptional person and a good footballer."

With Micky van de Ven starting his Spurs career in impressive fashion and Cristian Romero seemingly ironing the rash moments out of his game, Postecoglou could have a superb group of centre-backs all approaching their primes if they can complete a swap deal for Adarabioyo.

Fulham keen to trade Monaco target Tosin Adarabioyo for Tottenham's Eric Dier
Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo (25) is yet to seal his transfer to AS Monaco, despite agreeing personal terms with Les Monégasques weeks ago.

The English defender is entering his final year of contract with the Cottagers. According to a report from RMC Sport, Marco Silva's side are reluctant to sell Adarabioyo to the Ligue 1 side as they would rather make a deal with Tottenham Hotspur in order to bring Eric Dier to Craven Cottage. The French outlet understands that the relationship between Fulham and Tottenham is fluid. Besides, the England international is reportedly the Portuguese manager's choice to bolster Fulham's defence. The London-based club suffered a home 3-0 Premier League defeat against Brentford last Saturday.

Monaco has previously seen a €10m bid rejected by Fulham for Tosin Adarabioyo. According to Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, the current Ligue 1 leaders are preparing a new formal bid to their Fulham counterparts. The Principality side reportedly consider Adarabioyo as a priority target to bolster their options at centre-back. Adi Hütter's side already brought in Mohammed Salisu and Wilfried Singo, but they had to field Denis Zakaria in defence against Strasbourg yesterday.

U21: Portsmouth Preview

Hayden Mullins' Under-21s face Portsmouth's senior side on Tuesday evening in their first EFL Trophy group game (7:45pm).
Form

Portsmouth:

Pompey remain unbeaten this season having played five games in all competitions, with their most recent result being a 0-0 draw against Cheltenham last weekend. Our opposition, currently led by John Mousinho, will be hoping this season to replicate what they did back in 2020 in this competition, when they beat Salford City on penalties to secure silverware.

Fulham:

The young Whites made a winning start at Wolves before making it two from two last Friday, when they narrowly beat reigning champions Manchester City 2-1 at Motspur Park. Martial Godo scored our second to bring his goal tally up to three already.

One To Watch: Colby Bishop

Bishop has been Portsmouth's main man since signing for the club last Summer. He scored an impressive 24 goals last season and has started just as strongly this season, bagging two goals from his opening four league appearances.
Hayden Mullins: Tough Team For Us

Ahead of the trip down to the south coast, Hayden Mullins caught up with fulhamfc.com to discuss the challenge ahead.

On the experience for our youngsters, he said: "It will be absolutely fantastic for the boys. We're up against not just a League One side, but a very good League One side in Portsmouth who have started the season off really well.

"They've got a strong squad, so whoever they put out will be a tough team for us. I believe they have to include seven who started in their last league fixture, so it'll be a good game for us and a good chance for the lads to see how far away they are from going into these leagues."

Hayden continued: "It's a great chance for the players if they're looking to progress with loans and other bits and pieces in order to get people noticing them."
Tickets

Tickets can be bought on the gate on matchday, or via the Portsmouth ticket office in person or over the phone (0345 646 1898).
