Monaco optimistic of signing Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo
L'Équipe are reporting that Fulham have opened the door for a departure for Tosin Adarabioyo (25). That spells good news for AS Monaco, who are now increasingly optimistic of pulling off a deal.

Monaco may have a busy end to the window. Folarin Balogun is already in the Principality, and the officialisation of his move is thought to be imminent. The USMNT striker has been a top target for Les Monégasques throughout the summer, as has Adarabioyo.

As reported by Foot Mercato, however, the deal was almost dead, but in the past hours, there is renewed optimism after Fulham opened the door for Adarabioyo's departure. However, Monaco will have competition for the Manchester City academy product's signature. Tottenham will compete for his signature before the end of the window, and it is reported that the Cottagers would prefer to sell to their London rivals, in order to receive Eric Dier in return. As reported by Foot Mercato, OGC Nice are also interested in Adarabioyo, in the event of Jean-Clair Todibo leaving the club.

Timothy Castagne to Fulham transfer fee revealed as Leicester City exit close
The latest Leicester City news as the full-back is one of a few players expected to leave the club before deadline day

Leicester City will reportedly receive a fee of £15million from Fulham for Timothy Castagne with the full back set to undergo a medical at Craven Cottage.

City are looking to trim their squad before Friday's deadline day, as part of Enzo Maresca's rebuild this summer. Castagne is one of the players expected to move on following relegation from the Premier League.

Arsenal and Juventus have been linked with an interest in the Belgium international this summer, but Fulham look to have won the race. According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tovolieri, an agreement has now been reached between City and Fulham, with the Cottagers paying a fee of £15m, including add-ons.

Castagne is said to be set to undergo a medical with the London club on Monday, before putting pen-to-paper on a four-year deal. An announcement of the transfer is 'likely' to come on Tuesday, three days before the deadline.

Castagne has been with City since joining from Italian side Atalanta in the summer of 2020. He made an instant impact, scoring on his debut for the club in a 3-0 Premier League win over West Bromwich Albion.

The 27-year-old has played a total of 112 times for City in all competitions, scoring five goals. But he couldn't help the team avoid relegation at the end of last season.

Under Maresca, Castagne has been an unused substitute for three of the five games so far this season, most recently for Saturday's 2-1 win over Rotherham United. He was left out of the squad completely for the Championship clashes against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City.

Castagne is among a few players who are expected to leave this summer. Victor Kristiansen is expected to sign for Serie A side Bologna, while Wilfred Ndidi has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

'Agreement reached' – Player to have Fulham medical 'this morning', official announcement likely on Tuesday
Earlier this month, Sportitalia journalist Alfredo Pedullà reported Leicester City's Timothy Castagne had received an offer from Fulham and an unnamed French club.

Juventus have also been credited with interest in the 27-year-old, who is now set to join the Premier League side.

That's according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says 'agreement reached' between Fulham and Leicester for £15m including bonuses for the fullback's transfer.

Tavolieri adds the Belgium international is expected to complete his medical 'this morning' and then sign a four-year deal with Marco Silva's side.

Even though the former Atalanta man should carry out the transfer formalities today, the journalist states the deal is likely to be made official on Tuesday.

Earlier claims from Tavolieri and the Italian media had insisted the Leicester player was favouring a switch to Juve but they didn't take the necessary steps to sign him.

This has allowed Fulham to take the lead and they're now edging towards getting a deal over the line for the defender.

L'Avenir also state the Leicester defender is 'on his way to London' to complete a move to Fulham. They add 'everything is settled' and Castagne only has to sign his contract with Silva's side, which should happen later today or on Tuesday.

Castagne, who can operate on both sides of defence, has managed five goals and eight assists from 112 games since he joined Leicester in 2020.

Timothy Castagne set for Fulham medical ahead of £15m move from Leicester
Marco Silva delighted to get primary defensive target through the door

Timothy Castagne will complete his medical at Fulham on Monday after a £15million fee was agreed with Leicester City.

The 27-year-old will sign a four-year deal at Craven Cottage with Marco Silva's side delighted to secure their primary defensive target late in the transfer window.

Silva has long outlined the Belgium international as his favoured option after he told Leicester he wanted to leave following their shock relegation last season.

Juventus and Crystal Palace both explored a potential bid for Castagne but Fulham won the race having moved most decisively throughout the summer window.

Castagne is both versatile and experienced having played 112 times for Leicester in a variety of positions and has 33 caps for Belgium.

He is expected to be the first of several late window signings with another full-back, a midfielder, a winger and a striker also being considered.

Fulham remain interested in AC Milan's Fode Ballo-Toure, Union Berlin's Josip Juranovic and Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Fulham Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Orban, Solanke, Zapata

Another week passes by in a flash, another seven motionless days wasted and in the meantime, as always, Cam's listed the latest and you just know that while it's nice to ponder, we probably wont land any of 'em.

We still have so, so much to do and as we pinpoint target after target, our Premier League peers seem to be snagging signing after signing without a hitch. Something has got to give because the masses, as if they weren't so already, are getting restless. Pull that bloody finger out, Tony, nobody really gives a toss about wrestling, so put your money where your mouth is and get down to some big boy business.

Gift Orban – Gent
Sources close to Football Insider are under the impression that Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham will go head to head for Gent's prolific striker Gift Orban. The 21-year-old only joined the Belgian Pro League side from Norwegian outfit Stabaek in January but certainly he hit the ground running as he dispatched a resounding 20 goals in 22 outings.

This season, Orban has a tally of six goals in six games, which is an unreal return, of course, and as the Nigeria international still has four years left on his contract at Ghelamco Arena, Gent are likely to demand big, big money for their trigger-happy hotshot. Orban is a real goal getter, he is in red-hot form so if we've £50, to play with, I'd definitely test De Buffalos' resolve.

Dominic Solanke – AFC Bournemouth
Again, Football Insider's informants aren't sparing with the gossip as they've notified the publication that West Ham United and Fulham are supposedly eyeing Bournemouth's top marksman Dominic Solanke. A striker that's forged a habit of netting against us, Solanke's ability in front of the target is unparalleled on the south coast and his 14 goal contributions last season helped the Cherries avoid relegation from the Premier League, seemingly against all odds.

It's stated that West Ham have supposedly lodged an offer of £35-40m for the 25-year-old however Fulham, who have not yet submitted a bid, are likely to table £25-30m. Personally, I really like the idea of Solanke spearheading our attack but truthfully, I cannot see him jumping ship to SW6, not when Bournemouth are in a relatively stable condition. If we were to convince him back to an area of the capital he knows very well indeed, we'd have to ensure that our plan for the future is sound because on the south coast, under new ownership, the outlook is rosy.

Josip Juranovic – Union Berlin
Just a matter of months after departing Celtic for Union Berlin, Josip Juranovic could have his bags packed for the Premier League as renowned German outlet Kicker believe Fulham are circling. It's said the Croatia international right-back is displeased with his lack of involvement at the defiant Bundesliga competitors and a figure of £10m is thought to be enough to secure his services.

While he's a recognised right-back, the 28-year-old has also been deployed on the left but even if he was to venture back to the British Isles, a starting spot is by no means guaranteed as he'd almost certainly play second fiddle to both Kenny Tete and Antonee Robinson. Union will embark on their maiden Champions League campaign this season so with a congested schedule, perhaps there'll be greater playing time for Juranovic as the season progresses.

Luiz Felipe – Real Betis
Formerly of Lazio and Salernitana, Real Betis centre-back Luiz Felipe – subject to a TUTTOmercatoWEB article – is being touted for a transfer to either Nottingham Forest or Fulham. Valued at €18m, the Brazilian-born defender represents the Italian national selection and is heralded as a no-nonsense enforcer.

At 26, Felipe's best years are presumably ahead of him and this season, with La Liga season two games in, he's safeguarded his side towards a 2-1 victory against Villarreal, and a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid. The asking price is not yet known but as Betis aren't in the greatest financial state, a discount could very well be applied if negotiations are approached sensibly.

Alexis Saelemaekers – AC Milan
Announced by transfer expert Rudy Galetti, Real Betis have allegedly agreed personal terms with AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemakers although Wolves and Fulham are waiting and watching while discussions develop. Galetti believed Milan aren't willing to loan the Belgium international, which could be a critical stumbling block for Los Verdiblancos.

Last season wasn't the most prolific of campaigns for Saelemakers, but he is perceived to be a highly creative attacker which can operate in a range of roles on both flanks. Depending on the Rossoneri's estimation, the 24-year-old could be a tempting option to pursue and in the coming weeks, it'll be interesting to find out what eventually happens to the former Anderlecht starlet because a fresh challenge could be all he needs to truly fulfil his potential.

Ousmane Diomande – Sporting CP
He may have a staggering release clause of €80m but Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande is apparently being monitored by Fulham. The validity of the speculation is questionable however Últimas transferências has cited Foot Mercato transfer journalist Santi Aouna as the source although nothing else of note has materialised.

This is more than likely a non-starter, pure noise, but at the very least it's another figure to add to the ever-expanding list of could-be Fulham signings. Diomande, 19, is of Ivorian descent and is held in very high regard by his Portuguese employers. He joined Sporting in January from Danish side FC Midtjylland and he's now a regular starter. He's certainly headed for a very rewarding career, wherever he eventually ends up at.

Yukinari Sugawara – AZ Alkmaar
Subject to a Daily Mail report, Fulham have allegedly set their sights on AZ Alkmaar's Yukinari Sugawara, a Japan international right-back, who is said to be open to a move to the Premier League. Tete has flagged up as a proposed target of German giants Bayern Munich and in light of the serial Bundesliga champion's interest, the Whites are lining up possible replacements and Sugawara has to be top of the list.

For £10m, the 23-year-old would be a steal in today's inflated market as he's perceived to be one of the Eredivisie's most consistent fullbacks. A tireless worker, Sugawara would be a tremendous addition to the squad, regardless to whether Kenny stays or goes this summer. A deal is yet to be struck between Fulham and AZ but by all accounts, personal terms will not be an issue.

Duván Zapata – Atalanta BC
Atalanta's experienced striker Duvan Zapata's suggested move to AS Roma fell through and now – per Sky Sports – Fulham are allegedly weighing up an offer for the 32-year-old in the wake of Aleksandar Mitrovic's departure. Silva wants at least five more additions before the summer transfer window's 1 September deadline and the Colombian international could be a prime successor.

Having said that, Zapata's record last season was pretty woeful for a player of his calibre. He only found the back of the net twice in 27 outings, and if he's the man that's to replace Mitrovic, his form has to improve dramatically. His overall tally for Gli Orobici I Nerazzurri is impressive, mind. He has 81 goals and 43 assists to his credit in 190 appearances, so while his productions reached an all-time low, a jump to the Premier League could trigger a resurgence for the number nine that's known as "The Big Panther".

Leeds, Fulham linked with surprise move for West Ham star who could 'request to leave' this week
Leeds United are reportedly considering a shock move for West Ham United striker Michail Antonio as Daniel Farke looks to bolster his attack.

The Jamaica international scored a fine goal against Brighton in the Hammers' 3-1 victory at the Amex on Saturday. He also netted against Chelsea in the previous fixture.

Antonio remains West Ham's first-choice striker after Gianluca Scamacca signed for Atalanta earlier this month.

Despite Antonio still being a key player for David Moyes, there are rumours that if West Ham sign a new striker this week, he could be allowed to leave.

The London club are currently chasing long-term striker target Youssef En-Nesyri. As reported by Football365, Sevilla could sanction his sale for £27m.

En-Nesyri scored 18 goals in all competitions for the last season, so could prove to be a valuable addition for the Hammers. They have already made several impressive signings, too, bringing in Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, Konstantinos Mavropanos and James Ward-Prowse so far.

If West Ham do sign En-Nesyri, Leeds could get an opportunity to sign Antonio before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.

That is according to Football Transfers, who claim Leeds are among several clubs interested in signing the 33-year-old.

Antonio's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, so he wouldn't command a big price if West Ham do decide to sell him.

Interestingly, the report also claims that the veteran striker would 'request to leave' should En-Nesyri be signed.

This is good news for Leeds, who are seemingly looking to sign a new centre-forward to provide competition for Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter, Joe Gelhardt and new signing Joel Piroe.

Football Transfers also claims that Fulham could push to sign Antonio, too. Marco Silva is also on the hunt for a new striker after Aleksandr Mitrovic joined Saudi club Al Hilal.

With that in mind, we could potentially see both Leeds and Fulham make a late bid to sign Antonio. But first, West Ham will have to sign a new centre-forward.

Jay Stansfield: Birmingham debutant says fans gave him the energy to hit matchwinner

New Blues striker Jay Stansfield's memorable 95th-minute to beat Plymouth was almost the last kick of the game

Birmingham City matchwinner Jay Stansfield says the Blues fans helped give him the energy to hit his dream debut volley against Plymouth Argyle.

After being signed on a season's loan from Premier League side Fulham only on Friday, Stansfield started Saturday's game on the bench.

He was then brought on by boss John Eustace on 62 minutes, straight after Argyle had equalised.

And, just as it looked as if the Devon side might be the closer of the two teams to taking all three points, they were undone by a dream strike from a Devonian - a boyhood fan, and son of a club legend, of Argyle's great rivals Exeter City.

"It was amazing," said Stansfield. "I couldn't have dreamt of a better debut. It doesn't come any better, especially against Plymouth as well.

"I felt the buzz when I came on. Everyone stood up and welcomed me with their applause. I just felt welcome from that moment.

"It gave me a lot of energy to go and push for the winner. The stage was set for me to score. It gave me hunger to make an impact and show everyone what I've got. I knew where the goal was. I took a right-foot swing and luckily for me it went in."

'I think of my dad every time I score'

It was the second home game running that Blues had snatched an injury-time victory from one of their subs after Lukas Jutkiewicz's penalty against Leeds United. It also comes at a time when they are not short of headline makers at St Andrew's following the excitement over the financial input made by global sporting superstar Tom Brady.

But Stansfield has a private inspiration of his own, his late father Adam who was still an Exeter player when he died from bowel cancer at the tragically early age of just 31 in August 2010, when Jay was just seven years old.

Stansfield Sr scored almost 100 goals for his three clubs, Yeovil Town, Hereford United and Exeter (39 of them for the Grecians).

Lile father, like son... Adam Stansfield played for Exeter City

"I think of my dad with every goal I score in league football," said Jay, who followed his father's footsteps when this former Exeter academy player went back to St James Park on loan last season.

"He scored a lot of goals. My aim is to beat the number of goals he scored and become a hero like he did."

But Stansfield Jr admits he has perhaps most missed his dad of late, while weighing up where best to go after more than half the clubs in the Championship tried to sign him on loan.

"I think of him every day," he said. "In the last couple of weeks I could have done with him being around with his experience, advising me.

"I had so many teams coming in for me, it was quite tough thinking whether to move away from home or not - to go up north or down south.

"I could have done with some advice on where best to go, but I've still got all my family around me. I've got my step dad now, who helps me massively, and my mum who gives me a lot of advice on things, even though she doesn't know much about football. But she knows a lot about the family side of things."

The added Argyle factor
To cap his day, for an Exeter boy like Stansfield, to score against Plymouth was absolutely the icing on the cake - especially as he did not initially realise his first game would be against Argyle when he was first talking to Blues.

"I noticed on Thursday," he said. "I wanted to be at a club with big ambitions and it was a bonus when I saw the first game was Plymouth.

"Exeter is my home town so to score against them means a lot. I've had loads of messages from Exeter fans already, so yes, it's brilliant.

Jay Stansfield scored on his debut for Birmingham at St Andrew's against Plymouth

"It gave me a hunger to show them what I've got. Sometimes I get stick from them, so I wanted to go out and prove them wrong and show them what I could do.

"I don't think people realise the rivalry between Plymouth and Exeter but there is a massive one.

"I'm playing for Birmingham now but I played at Exeter all through the academy, all my family live there and I played against Plymouth last season and didn't score, so to do it this time was even more special.

"I remember scoring a similar one for Exeter last season against Charlton. The ball just dropped to me and I hit it on the volley. And probably the last time I played here (his first goal for Fulham came against the Blues at St Andrew's in August 2021) was a better goal.

"But, with the occasion, this is probably the best goal I've scored. I practise every day. Some people might say I'm just taking a swing at it but I know in my head where I'm putting it. And to score on my debut and get three points makes a statement to show everyone what I can do."

Blues now host Cardiff City in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, before Saturday's league visit of former Blues boss Gary Rowett's Millwall.

Fulham: Timothy Castagne transfer update
The Leicester City right-back could be on his way to Craven Cottage this summer...

Fulham are now "getting closer" to signing Leicester City right-back Timothy Castagne, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently indicating the deal could be done soon...

What's the latest Fulham transfer news?
A recent report from The Evening Standard has provided an update on Fulham's pursuit of a new striker, stating that approaches have been made for Flamengo's Pedro and Atalanta's Duvon Zapata, as they continue their search for Aleksandar Mitrovic's replacement.

In the same report, it is detailed the Cottagers are also running the rule over a number of options at full-back, with AC Milan's Fode Ballo-Toure, Union Berlin's Josip Juranovic, Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters and Rennes's Arthur Theate all under consideration.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer insider Dean Jones has made it clear that signing a new full-back is one of Marco Silva's priorities this summer, saying:

"Fulham are also looking at full backs, partly because there is a feeling that Kenny Tete has been open to a new club this summer. But also because they need reinforcements anyway. Timothy Castagne and Yukinari Sugawara are both players who have hit the radar, but there are others too.

That particular position is still being explored, and Fulham fans have to stay patient because there is a chance this all goes down to the wire."

Although a number of different targets have been identified, it appears as though the west Londoners have now settled on Castagne as one of their priority targets, with Romano recently providing an update on their pursuit of the defender on X.

The transfer expert has now claimed the Cottagers are "getting closer" to reaching an agreement with Leicester, with talks underway to discuss the final details of the move, which could seemingly take place in the very near future.

The 27-year-old is "high" on Silva's list of targets in the final days of the transfer window, with negotiations now set to advance to their final stages, in what could be a £15m deal with add-ons included, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Tavolieri states the official announcement could be made on Tuesday, with the Belgian set to undergo medical tests this morning, ahead of putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

How good is Timothy Castagne?
The 27-year-old is established at international level, having made a total of 33 appearances for Belgium, during which time he has scored two goals, and he also has several years of Premier League experience under his belt, making 91 outings in the top flight.

Lauded as "brilliant" by members of the media, the full-back is yet to feature for the Foxes so far this season, but he has put in some impressive performances over the past year, ranking highly on several key defensive metrics.

The Arlon-born defender has averaged 3.11 clearances per 90, placing him in the 93rd percentile compared to his positional peers, while he has also averaged 2.64 tackles, which ranks him in the 84th.

Castagne could be an excellent signing for Fulham, given that he is now in his prime years, and it is exciting news that a deal is now close to completion.

Developments in 'recent hours' could see Tottenham seal signing – Transfer now more open
On August 18th, Nice-Matin reported that an intermediary wanted to take Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo to Tottenham Hotspur despite the defender favouring a move to AS Monaco.

Three days later, RMC Sport reported Marco Silva is keen to sign Spurs' Eric Dier and wants to include Adarabioyo as part of the deal.

L'Equipe have a report on the 25-year-old and their title says Fulham open the door for both Monaco and Tottenham to sign him.

The Ligue 1 side have regained hope in their pursuit of the centre-back while they have to be wary of the competition from the north London club, who are 'still there' in the race.

Adarabioyo came off the bench in his side's 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Saturday and hopes to leave Fulham before the window closes.

Silva's side had recently slowed down the negotiations but the report now states the 'door has opened a little in recent hours' for the player's transfer.

Adarabioyo's deal expires in 2024 and L'Equipe say Fulham are 'ready to let go' of him.

Ange Postecoglou's side would have to convince Adarabioyo because earlier claims had suggested he prefers Monaco.

Fulham vs Spurs | Team news
Ange Postecoglou will make changes for our Carabao Cup second round tie at Fulham on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

Speaking after our 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday, Ange also told the media that Destiny Udogie, who came off after treatment after 82 minutes at the Vitality, was 'fine'.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY at Bournemouth and looking ahead to Fulham, Ange told us: "We'll make some changes so we have the energy that will be required. It took a lot out of the boys today, but I'm looking forward to it."

Speaking at his post-match press conference at the Vitality, Ange said: "We'll make some changes. We've got some guys who are really keen to play, working hard in training and the way we play takes a lot out of us.

"It's a short turn around and another game the following week (Burnley away in the Premier League on Saturday). We'll make some changes, but because we want to win the game. That's why we're making changes, not because I want to give guys a game. Hopefully, by making the changes, we maintain the intensity and tempo and quality of our game."

Asked about Destiny, Ange said: "I think he just kicked the ground, from what I understand. He didn't want to come off but at that stage, the way the rules are at the moment, they go off for 30 seconds and I thought it was better putting Ben on and keeping the tempo up in the game for us. Just speaking to him now, he's fine."

Tottenham XI vs Fulham: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Carabao Cup

Ange Postecoglou could make changes as Tottenham head to Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

The Spurs manager has been praised for the manner in which he's turned things around so quickly but could now stray from the personnel he's been using in Premier League action as the team turn their focus to the domestic cups.

It seems unlikely Destiny Udogie will be risked after coming off against Bournemouth as a precautionary measure, while Tanguy Ndombele, Alfie Whiteman, Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon are out.

Giovani Lo Celso could start as part of a new-look three behind striker Richarlison alongside Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon, who will be playing against his former club.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Fulham: Forster; Porro, Sanchez, Van de Ven, Davies; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Solomon, Lo Celso, Perisic; Richarlison

Doubts: Udogie

Injured: Ndombele, Whiteman, Gil, Sessengon

Date and time: Tuesday 29 August 2023 at 7.45pm BST

Venue: Craven Cottage

Fulham ahead of Manchester United in Sergio Reguilon pursuit
Fulham are more advanced than Manchester United in the race to sign 26-year-old Tottenham outcast Sergio Reguilon.

According to Daily Telegraph, Premier League side Fulham are ahead of Manchester United in the race for Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour at N-17 and does not appear to have the backing of new manager Ange Postecoglou going forward. This represents a big fall for the Spaniard, who looked top notch before moving to Spurs from Real Madrid in 2020.

Manchester United do not appear to be deterred, given their immediate need for a new-left back. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both out injured, leaving Erik ten Hag short in the position. This is a major weakness in the Red Devils roster as shown by their struggles against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The Red Devils have now drawn up a three man shortlist that includes Chelsea's Marc Cucurella, Barcelona's Marcos Alonso and Reguilon. Fulham are also keen on the Tottenham outcast and are ahead of Manchester United in the race for his signature.

Tottenham are ready to sell the player. But time is running out before the summer transfer window slams shut. Given that the Red Devils only need a temporary solution, it makes sense for them to pursue a loan deal for Reguilon. Whether this will garner Tottenham's approval or they are seeking a permanent solution remains to be seen.

Manchester United were keen on Reguilon before he moved to Tottenham in 2020. While he failed to develop into a star as expected, the Red Devils have little choice in the matter given their situation.

Fulham under Marco Silva are an ambitious side and will be keen to build upon their promising 2022/23 campaign back in the top flight. Antonee Robinson is the only senior left-back in the club's roster, and the Englishman struggled to hold his own against Arsenal last weekend.

An upgrade is certainly needed and Reguilon can provide them just that. The Spaniard's reputation has taken a hit in recent years but he is still an upgrade over what Fulham currently have at their disposal in the position.

Long-serving Swansea City man set for Fulham medical
Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda is set to undergo a medical with Fulham ahead of a move to Craven Cottage, according to the Daily Mail.

Swansea City signed German shot-stopper Benda in the summer of 2017. He's had to bide his time for a chance with the Swans but after loan spells with Swindon Town and Peterborough United, he broke into the side last season.

An ACL injury stunted his momentum though and remains out to this day. However, despite the serious injury, it seems he's set for a move to Premier League side Fulham.

After Ian Mitchelmore reported the interest earlier this summer, the Daily Mail has said that Benda is set to sign for the Cottagers. He is due for a medical today ahead of a proposed move to Marco Silva's side.

Should Benda leave, he'll end a seven-year affiliation with the club. In that time, he's kept eight clean sheets in 31 outings.

A late summer move
Given that Benda has been out for much of 2023, it might be a bit of a surprise to see him move away, especially to a Premier League club. However, if he does join Fulham, he'll be able to compete with and cover for compatriot Bernd Leno.

He'll be hoping to prove his fitness and his abilities to Silva after a steady career to date. Benda really impressed on loan at Peterborough United and looked good when he broke into the Swansea team before his injury, so he'll be hoping to kick on at Craven Cottage if the move transpires.

The move will end the 24-year-old's lengthy time in South Wales but with his deal up at the end of this season, it means Swansea can get a fee for a player who might have left for nothing in a year's time.

Fulham interested in Michail Antonio, who could leave West Ham United
Marco Silva's Fulham are keen on acquiring the services of 33-year-old West Ham United striker Michail Antonio.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Fulham are interested in having Michail Antonio in their ranks. The Cottagers are looking to bolster their attack and believe the 33-year-old forward could be a great fit for the club. His arrival will add goals, and his experience could help others around him.

Antonio has been at West Ham United since the summer of 2015. He has gone from strength to strength at the London club over the years. The 33-year-old is the Hammers' all-time highest goal scorer in the Premier League having found the back of the net on 63 occasions.

He has featured in a total of 279 matches for West Ham and has been involved in 120 goals. Antonio has scored 77 goals and has bagged 43 assists during his time at the club. Last season, he was involved in 48 matches and managed to contribute towards 19 goals.

The Jamaican international has started the new season in fine fashion, scoring two goals in three outings in the Premier League. While he still remains an integral part of their first team, his future has been uncertain of late. And, with less than a week to go in the transfer window, he could switch clubs.

The Hammers are looking to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla. The 26-year-old forward has been on their radar for a while now, and they have started making moves to sign him. If West Ham end up acquiring his services, Antonio would like to leave the club.

The 33-year-old wants to play regular football and won't accept a secondary role at the club. As a result, he has informed David Moyes that he wants to leave the club. Meanwhile, there is a lot of interest in from services from different parts of the world.

One of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks is Fulham, who would like to raid their fellow London club. Marco Silva wants more firepower in his attack and believes adding Antonio will bring a lot to the table. His experience can help them push for a better finish than last season. With the deadline day closing in, it will be interesting to see if the West Ham star ends up joining Fulham.

Fulham set to sign complete Castagne deal
Fulham are set to complete the signing of Belgium full-back Timothy Castagne from Leicester.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Foxes in 2020 from Atalanta, has undergone his medical and is expected to be in contention to play in Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester City once the move has been rubber-stamped.

"It is not 100 per cent done but it is going to happen," said Whites boss Marco Silva.

"He was one of my first targets when I was planning for the season.

"We have Kenny (Tete) and (Antonee) Robinson and are really happy with both. We need a right-back and if you can get one with the quality of Timothy and with his experience that is great.

"He has a great mentality, he can play left or right-back and he is going to give us very good solutions as he can play wing-back or full-back and he will be a great addition for us."

Silva will be consigned to the stands for the third time in two seasons for Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie against Spurs after picking up his third yellow card of the season.

The 46-year-old was cautioned for dissent towards the fourth official in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal and will serve a one-game suspension.

Calvin Bassey is also unavailable after his red card at The Emirates but Tim Ream could return after serving a one-match ban.

Benda 'having Fulham medical'
Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed £1m move to Fulham this afternoon, according to the Daily Mail.

The infamous Motspur Park examination is crucial in the German custodian's case as he has had knee surgery after injuring himself at Queens Park Rangers in January. The 24 year-old had made 23 appearances, keeping five clean sheets, having become the Swans number one after an impressive loan spell at Swindon Town, where he kept nine clean sheets in 27 games as the Robins won League Two.

Swansea have opted to cash in on Benda having failed to convince the Stuttgart-born goalkeeper to extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium. He has spent six years with the Swans, making 31 first-team appearances in total, having also gained Championship experience on loan at Peterborough United in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign. He played eleven games as the Posh failed to stay in the second tier but was outstanding in their 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage in February 2022.

Marco's Pre-Spurs press conference

Marco Silva addressed the media ahead of our Carabao Cup opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.

When asked about Willian's possible return, Marco stated: "Not yet. When in his best physical condition, he is a really important player for us.

"We will have to see whether he will be ready for City or if we have to give him more time to be ready after the international break."

Having received three yellow cards this season, Marco will not be available on the touchline for the fixture but it will still be commanding from the stands.

"I understand that that is the decision," said Marco. "And I respect the decisions, even if sometimes they are difficult to understand.

"I have to understand though and change some things that they want me to change."

With it still being early in the season and players still getting up to speed, Marco is ready to accept the challenge that will come from making decisions with regards to who will play on Tuesday evening.

"Probably for tomorrow I will have to make more rotations in some positions," Marco started.

"Some it will be impossible for me to make rotations and I will have to take make a technical decision.

"It is an important moment to see some players, who deserve to have minutes as well.

"Of course, it is an important condition for us, it's at home, our last home game was not, in terms of result, not the best result but we want to see a reaction like we did in our last game against Arsenal.

"It was a good reaction after our last home game against Brentford.

"It is a very good competition, right at the start of the season.

"Of course, it is at the start of the season where some players are tired and we have to see each player and approach the situation in the right way because we have some players who have come back from big injuries, we have to manage these types of situations."

Spurs have had a positive start to the season under new manager Ange Postecoglou, and Marco expects a touch match against the North London outfit.

"We expect something from them. They started the season well.

"They are playing good football as well. As always, Tottenham has a lot of good players, quality players all around the pitch."

Games for mid-week 29/08
We welcome Spurs to the Cottage for a 19:45 Carabao Cup game under the lights
Spurs are the highest ranked team(?) in this round so we can be a little unlucky to draw them as apposed to some of the other teams such as Plymouth, Tranmere, Wycombe, Gillingham, Harrogate Town etc.
I'm sure that Spurs probably think the same, Premier League teams will always be tougher opposition, having said that, this is the cup and "giant killings" happen every year.

I think this could be an opportunity to play some of the "second team" and younger players to give them some competitive game time.

my team would be...

Confirmed team news: Super Eagles defender ruled out of Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur
After recording an impressive 2-2 draw at Arsenal this past weekend, Fulham will now turn their attention to another north London club Tottenham Hotspur, whom they face on Tuesday under the lights at Craven Cottage in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Fulham boss Marco Silva confirmed at the pre-match press conference that Calvin Bassey is not available for selection against The Lilywhites, and his absence is not related to injury.

The Nigeria international defender is ineligible to be fielded after he was shown a red card in the closing stages of the draw at Arsenal.

In what was his full Premier League debut following his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam last month, Bassey received a yellow card for time wasting in the 50th minute and was issued a second yellow card and then red for blocking Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah with seven minutes of normal time remaining.

Speaking to reporters at the pre-match press conference, Silva said: "As you know Calvin is going to be out because of the second yellow in the Arsenal match."

Bassey made his Premier League debut against Brentford before he was handed a start at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou revealed after his side's 2-0 win over Bournemouth that Italy U21 international of Nigerian descent Destiny Udogie, who received treatment before being replaced at the Vitality Stadium, was fine.

    FT:  Palace 2-5 Fulham

Just over a week from defeat with 10-men against Reading, Crystal Palace Under-21s took the pitch at Selhurst Park for the first time in the new campaign as they welcomed Fulham.

Head coach Darren Powell made two changes to the side, with Seán Grehan and Adler Nascimento coming on for Joe Sheridan and Dylan Reid.

Fulham took the lead just three minutes in through Tyrell Works. A through ball from Martial Godo slipped the winger in and after checking back on his run he managed to slot home on his left foot.

Whitworth was called into action almost immediately to stop the visitors from doubling their lead, making a strong save at his near post and then saving a deflected free-kick from Godo shortly afterwards.

Just over 15 minutes in, Franco Umeh was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box. Matt Dibley-Dias stepped up for Fulham from 12-yards, but Whitworth was equal to his effort to prevent Fulham from doubling their lead.

Though Whitworth denied Fulham from the spot, the Cottagers did manage to double their lead a few moments later. Godo found space inside the box and raced towards the byline, before just edging an effort past Whitworth at a narrow angle.

Fulham then went and added a third just before half-time. Chris Donnell rose highest and reacted quickest from a Dibley-Dias corner, heading in from inside the six-yard box.

With an extensive amount of time added on in the first-half, Palace managed to claw one back. After Caleb Kporha was brought down inside the box, captain Jack Wells-Morrison stepped up from 12-yards and made no mistake with a calm finish past Alex Borto.

Palace had it all to do after a lacklustre first-half display, and they came out after the interval fighting to reduce the deficit. Justin Devenny, on his first appearance in red and blue, came agonisingly close to putting Palace to within one goal of Fulham, though his effort on the edge of the box rattled the crossbar and bounced out of play.

The Cottagers then put Palace to the sword with two goals in the space of three minutes. Devan Tanton rifled an effort in on the half-volley after the ball sat up kindly for him, and Godo then secured his brace with an effort from 12-yards.

With a four-goal deficit to overcome and 20 minutes remaining, there wasn't much left for Palace to play for, though they did chalk another goal up just before second-half stoppage time.

A corner from Wells-Morrison was kept alive and driven back across the box from the skipper. Chris Francis' driven shot at goal was deflected in off both Borto and Harry Araujo, resulting in an own-goal.

The Eagles are now 18th in the Premier League 2 after that result, outside of the play-off places.

Palace: Whitworth (GK), Imray, Grehan, Francis, Kporha, Raymond, Wells-Morrison, Nascimento (Devenny, 15), Akinwale, Ola-Adebomi (Ebiowei, 72), Umeh (Mathurin, 66).

Fulham: Borto (GK), Tanton, Esenla, Araujo, de Fougerolles (de Jesus, 73), Dibley-Dias, Works (Sekularac, 65), McCoy-Splatt (Okkas, 34), McFarlane (Osman, 73) Donnell, Godo.
