Quote from: Willham on August 31, 2023, 11:26:22 AMMost over rated player I've ever seen Grace the premier league, loses the ball more often than anything else, seems to wear blinkers when on a football pitch, yes his close control and dribbling seems decent but he runs blindly, dribbling towards his own goal or towards to corner flag meaning even when successful he's left in no man's land without a way out.

The absolute most stupid interest I've heard, I am absolutely praying were not about to waste a lot of money on this guy. I have a lot of everton family and I've been rinsing them for 2 years that they best hope is two of the worst players ever. Iwobi and grey, two players we're interested in 😫.

Iwobi miss hits the ball more than anyone I've ever seen, can never strike a ball cleanly. I've never been more into the idea of not getting a player, I'd rather absolutely anyone else!

Last season for Everton Iwobi was top for:

Assists (7 and 2nd has 3)
Key passes (62 and 2nd has 46)
Passes into the final third (130 and 2nd has 107)
Passes into the penalty area (62 and 2nd has 24)
Successful crosses into the penalty area
Progressive passes (191 and 2nd had 104)
Successful through balls (14 and 2nd has 5)
Shot creating actions (88 from open play and 2nd has 48)
Dribblers tackled
Dribblers pressed
Attempted take ons
Number of carries (1146 and 2nd has 871)
Carries into the final third

As per Wyscout, Iwobi had 31 key passes from open play. That was 4th in the Premier League (all players). Which is absolutely bewildering when you consider just how little Everton create from open play. To put it into perspective, our next highest key passes from open play was 13. Iwobi had more key passes from open play than the next three Everton players combined.

How he was able to hit those numbers in a team as awful as ours shows just how natural he is in progressive the ball via passing.

He was then:

3rd for total tackles
2nd for tackles in our defensive third
Had a 50.8% tackles won ratio
Was 3rd for passes intercepted

Before he came to Everton he had elite data when it came to progressing the ball into the penalty area via passes. And it's a tremendously difficult skill.

At Everton he's played right back, right wing back, CM (in a two), CM (in a three), AM, right wing, and left wing.

He is by far best either as the 8 in midfield or LF where he's allowed to invert and take up space centrally as inverted 10.

He runs for days. His work rate is astonishing.

He had a really rocky start at Everton - came in when Marco went through a horrid run of luck in terms of xG underperformance and injuries - led to him losing his job. And from then on, with the entire team looking subpar, he became a bit of a scapegoat despite his data remaining quite impressive.

And a section of the fans have continued to hold that opinion/grudge (I'm sure you lot have similar stories with some of your players) despite the fact that he is objectively one of our best players in so many areas and has been for years now.

He is excellent. If you play him in his correct positions (8 of wide playmaker) £20m is a bargain.

We should be attempting to give strikers a value compared to Muniz, Vinnie, Jiminey and Mitro.
We should only be looking at players valued at £15m more than our present three and not less than £15m the £50m received for Mitro.
The valuations all taken from TK's data banks. We are running the risk of having four strikers on our books after tomorrow who are other teams rejects and not capable of scoring half a dozen goals a season.

Thanks for this. Thought he was the best player on the park in the first game this season.

The opening game he was the Everton player that stood out always trying to make an opening in games.

Bronaldinho

Finally getting to play more centrally, where he plays and captains his country.

2 Goals, 8 Assists from centre mid in a really poor Everton side.

Similar profile to Andreas, in terms of energy and press.

Also, covers the wing areas where we are weak.

Good move.

You seem pretty happy to let him go considering he's so amazing? Stats are one thing but seeing is the truth and what I've seen from iwobi (as I watch everton a lot) he's a total hype man.

Relying some stats from a very poor everton season as he's the one and only standout is not going to change my opinion, I'd love to be eating my own words. Like I did when we signed aluko from hull city (another team I watch a lot)

Player I'd love to get the most from everton is Patterson, think he's a quality full back.

Like to add, I'm actually astonished at how many people I feel have wool over their eyes.

Not going to happen, don't worry! He is just being considered as an addition to our squad. As things stand this time tomorrow if nothing happens before then, Fulham will be trying to sign anybody. Some comments from forum members re Palhinha really make me laugh (sorry) when they say we should demand 80 to 90m for him, so sell him for a very good price and replace him with who? Based on what has happened since Mitro going which = not much, our season could be defined on what happens in the next 28 hours (ish).

So if we sign him is he likely to come in for Reed as an 8? I always thought he was a winger or number 10, shows what I know.

bahay18

I thought he ran us ragged on the opening day . Don't think he is Palhinhas replacement was coming anyway . More likely a Reed replacement who is linked with Wolves

SimonDaviesEnjoyer

I think he'll be a pretty good signing, but it's all completely offset and overshadowed by the Joao drama.

Perhaps, but if we brought him and Amrabat and a couple more, I think the tide would turn. I'm remaining positive.

I thought he was good against us! As an AM/winger flexible sub? Impact player? Good signing I think.

Karlos

He's a bottom half Premier League player at best

Looks like a relegation scrap beckons with this type of ambition

A lot of us fundamentally disagree with you including Silva, so we'll see I guess.

Iwobi is definitely not a DM. Before last season he never played even as a CM. Last season he played 15 games as a CM. He's an attacking midfielder or a winger. I believe he'll compete with Willian and Andreas for their positions.
