Since we joined the Football League in the 1907/08 season we have come up against (by my reckoning) 107 different teams in league games.

We have managed home and away wins against all of these teams apart from 7 who we have never beaten away from home in a league game.

Those 7 are: MK Dons (drew our only away league game against them in 2015); Barrow (lost our only away league game against them in 1969); Hereford Utd (drew 2, lost 2 in our 4 away games); Thames (drew both of our away games against them 0-0); Wycombe Wanderers (drew 1, lost 1 in our 2 away games); South Shields (drew 1, lost 8 of our 9 away games); and of course Arsenal (drew 7, lost a horrendous 23 of our 30 away games).

And that just leaves one team who we have never beaten home or away in the League and whose record as the only club never to have lost a league game against Fulham is likely to stand for all time. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Nelson FC. We've played them just twice in the old League Division 2 in the 1923/24 season and drew both games. Both games took place in December 1923 so one month short of 100 years ago. Nelson were relegated that season and our paths have never crossed again (and never will).
