20-year-old Fulham man stars again on loan after helping team earn 2-1 win
Fulham loanee Martial Godo put in another top performance for Wigan Athletic against Peterborough United last night.

Godo scored his third league goal of the season as The Latics recorded their second successive victory.

There's plenty of excitement around Fulham right now when it comes to their young players.

The Fulham faithful are waiting to see Luc de Fougerolles make his home debut after a fantastic performance against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.

Luke Harris has made some great cameos and fans are keeping a close eye on the Championship to see how Jay Stansfield does at Birmingham City.

He's now working under Wayne Rooney and the information and experience he can pass on to the young forward could be invaluable.

A youngster who hasn't been seen very often with Fulham's first team is Martial Godo.

Signed from Margate in 2022, Godo made his Whites debut in that infamous cup defeat to Crawley Town last season.

Fulham decided to send Godo to Wigan on loan this season in League One and he got the better of Peterborough United's defence yesterday.

It took him just seven minutes to find the back of the net as he nipped in ahead of the visitor's goalkeeper to knock the ball into the empty goal.

Godo stars for Wigan against Peterborough
It was Godo's sixth goal involvement in ten league games this season having laid on three assists for his teammates alongside his three goals.

He completed 86% of his passes last night, although that only equated to 12 out of his 14 efforts finding a teammate.

Godo was required to put in a defensive shift for Wigan against Peterborough too, winning three duels, making two interceptions and one tackle.

He was brought off in the 74th minute with the scores level before Callum McManaman scored the winner with eight minutes left to play.

His colleagues in the under-21s squad had an equally good evening, defeating Gillingham 1-0 in the EFL Trophy.

It's the first time Fulham have advanced to the knockout stages of the competition thanks to Aaron Loupalo-Bi's deft finish.

Liverpool snub €40m January signing after club demand record deal amid Arsenal, Fulham links
According to reports, Liverpool have 'moved on' from Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade, who is also being linked with Arsenal and Fulham.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Andre in recent months. He is expected to leave Fluminense in January after he helped them lift the Copa Libertadores over the weekend.

The Brazil international played a vital role for Fluminense during this tournament and he has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

Liverpool – who are fifth in the 2023 Premier League net spend table – invested around £150m during the summer transfer window to sign four midfielders as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all joined the English giants.

They did not sign a natural replacement for Fabinho and it's been speculated that Andre would fit the bill.  They face competition from several sides, though. Italian journalist Giovanni Scotto has confirmed that Napoli are "following" the defensive midfielder.

"Napoli will be active in the January transfer market, they're following the Brazilian midfielder Andre, from Fluminense, who has just won the Copa Libertadores," Scotto said.

He added: "He's born in 2001, he costs around €15m, he's a midfielder who can also be a tackler as well as a playmaker. It could be a good reinforcement."

Fabrizio Romano thinks Andre would actually cost €35-40m in January as Fluminense are looking to secure a club-record transfer fee.

"He remains on Liverpool's list," Romano noted via his Transfer Debrief podcast. "However, it sounds like other clubs are also right in the mix, too.

"But from what I'm hearing, it's not only Liverpool. There are more clubs from Europe trying to understand the conditions of the deal and what Fluminense would be open to accepting in January.

"I think in the next few weeks, the situation could be more clear because discussions can then take place to understand the final price, the intention of the player. But Liverpool are still interested. Let's see if they'll spend money because I think it'll be €35 to €40m [£30-35m]. But he remains appreciated by those at Liverpool."

It has recently been reported that Arsenal are planning to pursue Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz over Andre and Football Transfers are now reporting that Liverpool are also 'moving onto alternative targets'. The report explains.

'The Reds have been linked to signing the Brazilian international for an extended period but it's our information that the club have informed his side that they are now looking at alternatives.

'Fulham have been reported as the frontrunners but sources have told us that no proposals have been sent to Fluminense so far, withstanding the ones that were made over the summer window. The club are now looking for around €30 million – €40 milllion to sell the 22-year-old.

'It's been stressed, too, that the January window is still a couple of months away and it could be that more names come to the table for the youngster's signature.'

Where do Fulham need to strengthen in January?

Jack Stroudley assesses the state of the squad at the moment and where we can improve.

We're a little less than a third of the way through the season, and so far it's been pretty average at best. We expected a slight drop-off following how good last seasons campaign was, but following an average summer transfer window it's felt really flat. There are certainly gaps in this Fulham side that need to be addressed when the winter window comes around in January, but were are those gaps?

Goalkeepers

This'll be the shortest part of this article as I think Fulham are pretty strong in this department. Bernd Leno is having another stormer of a season for us being in the top 5% for saves in Europe so far and with Fulham's xG against sitting at 19.1 (compared to the 17 we've conceded) his impact and importance can't be underestimated. Our rotational options are solid as well with Marek Rodak comfortably Fulham's number two as well as Steven Benda whose starting to come back to fitness with some appearances for our U21s.

If Rodak was to leave in January to get more game time, Benda appears to be an adequate back-up to Leno, and with the German keeper still performing at a high level there's no need to look to strengthen here in January.

Defenders

This is another position that Fulham don't necessarily need to worry too much about. With quality and depth in both full-back positions as well as four decent central defenders, albeit at varying stages of fitness, Fulham seem pretty well equipped in this department. If we were to improve here it would be centrally with maybe someone else who is composed on the ball, such as Nino from Brazilian side Fluminense.

Aged at 26, the Brazilian is coming into form with a recent call-up to the national side and has confirmed that he will be moving club in January. A pass completion rate of 90.7% puts him in the top 3% of defenders and 1.46 progressive carries per game suggests he is very comfortable on the ball. There have been rumours of late that a deal with €7m deal with Nottingham Forest could be on the cards but the defender has confirmed that no deal has been made yet, maybe it's something Fulham should look at.

Midfielders

I'd like to preface this with the assumption that following his contact extension, Joao Palhinha will be at the club till at least the summer. Elsewhere, Fulham look OK in midfield area, with Sasa Lukic starting to improve alongside the reliable Harrison Reed. Tom Cairney is still able to hold his own on the pitch and while Andreas Pereira is struggling at the moment, Alex Iwobi is improving game on game.

I'd still like us to add one more in the midfield department, with rumours in recent days suggesting that Fulham are leading the race for Nino's Fluminense teammate Andre. The midfielder once again looks very composed on the ball being in the top 2% for passes attempted and top 1% for pass completion. 1.43 successful take-ons and 1.79 progressive carries once again show he is not afraid to bring the ball forward and help create chances.

Bringing a new name to the table, Fulham could also look at Pedro Chirivella from Nantes. The 26-year-old has had a good start to the season for the French side with decent passing stats. 6.72 progressive passes per 90 and an 87.7% pass completion isn't something to shy away from. According to transfermarkt he is valued at €6m, but I feel that Nantes would want a higher price for the midfielder.

Wingers

As we get into the attacking third it's clear that this area of the pitch is where the most attention needs to be focused on. Bobby De Cordova-Reid has probably been our most impressive player in this area with two goals so far. I expected Harry Wilson to kick on following a good end to last season however with only one assist so far, it's clear that the Welshman is struggling. Willian has failed to hit the heights of last season and the explosive Adama Traore has been plagued by a recent injury.

If Fulham were to improve here I think that Joseph Paintsil could be someone to look at. The 25-year-old from Genk has had a good start to the season with three goals and three assists in the league as well as another two goal contributions in the Conference League. The Ghanian averages 2.48 shots per 90 and is in the top 6% for assists. He is also in the top 6% for touches in the penalty box and averages 12.34 progressive passes received per 90 (putting him in the top 3%). The right-winger has a transfer value of around €12m.

Strikers

Finally, the most glaringly obvious area that Fulham must improve in when the winter window comes around. With just one league goal between our current crop of three strikers, a number nine is a necessity in January. We've loosely been linked to Santiago Gimenez over the last week (someone I suggested in the summer) and while he would be my main target in January, I don't think we'll be the only club in for him, so I'll suggest another name.

Brian Brobbey could be just what Fulham need to solve our issues going forward. The 21-year-old has a solid start to the season with five goals for a struggling Ajax side and his numbers across the pitch certainly make him an intriguing prospect. 3.55 shots per 90 to match with 0.74 goals per 90 mean that the Dutchman isn't afraid to get shots off when chances present themselves. Elsewhere, he is in the top 8% for pass completion and receives 8.27 progressive passes per 90. He is currently valued at €12m, but given that Ajax signed him for €17m I feel they will demand a higher fee. But it's certainly one for Fulham to mull over.

'Free way to Fulham'...Journalist shares exciting tweet about £26m midfielder ahead of January transfer window
Journalist Bruno Andrade has provided some exciting news for Fulham fans regarding midfielder Andre.

Posting on social media, the Brazilian reporter sent a four-word message on the 22-year-old's future.

It feels like the summer transfer window only just closed but already teams are looking for ways to improve their squad when the window re-opens.

Some obvious areas in the Fulham team need improving sooner rather than later.

Marco Silva's side simply can't score goals right now and a centre forward is desperately needed.

The links to strikers are already beginning to surface but it won't be easy to find a prolific attacker in January.

One player who has been widely linked with a move to the Premier League in January is Andre.

Having just won the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense, his club might not see the perfect opportunity to sell him.

Journalist Bruno Andrade has now shared an update on Andre's future that spells good news for Fulham.

The £26m-rated midfielder might be on his way to Craven Cottage.

That's despite the likes of Liverpool taking a keen interest in the Brazilian international.

Andrade message on Andre should excite Fulham fans
A message on X suggested that Liverpool were no longer in the running to sign the 22-year-old in the winter.

Andrade replied with the simple message: "Free way to Fulham..."

Andre is a fantastic young midfielder who controls the tempo of matches and can drive through midfields if needed.

He'd be an exceptional partner for Joao Palhinha in the middle of the pitch but Fulham already have plenty of players in this position.

The reason Alex Iwobi was brought in was to play a similar role and he's looked decent so far.

Andrade's tweet doesn't necessarily mean that Fulham will make a move for Andre.

And many fans would likely prefer to see that money spent on a centre-forward.

However, it also suggests that Silva is having a bigger say on transfers by bringing in another Portuguese speaker and that the club might be more willing to open their chequebook in January.

Goal Of The Month Result: October

João Palhinha's thunderbolt against Brighton has been voted Fulham's goal of the month for October.

In a game where our midfield man bossed things, Palhinha took it upon himself to collect the ball from Harry Wilson on the edge of the box and slam a shot into the back of the net to tie things up on the day.

It was a close compeition this month, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid's brilliantly finished team goal against Sheffield United running Palhinha very close (13 votes in it).

Madi Parsonson and Sasha Adamson came joint third for their strikes for Fulham FC Women.

Bayern Munich show interest in Real Sociedad midfielder
The winter transfer window is set to be one to watch for Bayern Munich as they are expected to get two players that they failed to do on the deadline day in the summer. Thomas Tuchel is eager to add a defensive/holding midfielder to the squad. Die Roten tried to fulfill his wish by signing Joao Palhinha from Fulham, but the transfer collapsed in the final moments of the window.

It remains to be seen if Die Roten will go back for Palhinha. As things stand, the Bavarian club is also keeping a close eye on other options. According to SportBild's Christian Falk, Bayern are interested in Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi for the number six position.

Sport1 has also confirmed that Zubimendi is on the list with several other options to strengthen the midfield department. TZ is also reporting Die Roten's interest in Zubimendi, but they report that the main priority in January is to sign a central defender to replace Benjamin Pavard in the squad.

Zubimendi has been one of the promising midfielders in La Liga over the last two seasons. The Spaniard has a contract until 2027 at Real Sociedad, but he reportedly had a release clause worth €60 million in his contract. It wouldn't be a big surprise if several big clubs fight for his signature in the summer.

From a long-term point of view, Zubimendi will be a much better signing for Die Roten than someone like Palhinha. The Spaniard is five years younger than Palhinha, and he is much more secure on the ball. However, the Portuguese midfielder is much better defensively, with good accuracy in making tackles and interceptions.

Bayern will not have a big budget available for the winter transfer window since getting primary targets midway through the season is difficult. However, the deal to get Zubimendi will be straightforward as they will have to activate the release clause in his contract. Meanwhile, the transfer fee for Palhinha is likely to be much higher than it was in the summer since he signed a new deal at Fulham a few weeks ago.

Zubimendi will be an exciting option to have in the squad since he is very good on the ball and equally adept out of possession. With the best years of his career ahead of him, Bayern will add quality and longevity to the midfield department with this signing.

Fulham another English team keeping a close eye on 22-year-old Liverpool midfield target

Premier League rivals close in on Liverpool target Andre

Following Fluminense's triumphant Copa Libertadores campaign recently, the stock for Liverpool transfer target Andre Trindade has gone soaring high. The scope for other clubs signing him over the Reds has also increased significantly, as our league rivals accelerate their interest in the 22-year-old.

A crucial part of his club's successful continental season this term, Andre turned down an opportunity to move to Liverpool in the summer window earlier this season. But as we approach the January transfer window, we again see ourselves linked with a move for the Brazilian international.

We currently have Wataru Endo who could put in more than a shift in the middle of the park. However, Jurgen Klopp, in his idea to induce more creativity to the Reds' lineup has featured Alexis Mac Allister in that #6 role which is not his natural position. Even with that drawback, Macca has been doing decently well, but we could surely improve.

Arsenal and Fulham, alongside Liverpool, are continuing to show interest in securing the services of Andre. That is via Globo. With the growing interest from competitors, it is important for Jurgen Klopp's side to show urgency in signing the player if the interest is genuine.

Andre to the Reds?
While he would surely be a great addition to the side, we could also look towards other options, particularly in Europe. We have seen in the past that making the transition from South American football to the Premier League is not the easiest of tasks. And that too, in a position as delicate as that of a defensive midfielder.

There certainly are a number of other options that the Reds could explore. A specialist defensive midfielder could help the Reds more than someone like Andre. Judging purely from the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors, Andre came off as a player who could excel in a box-to-box role.

As already mentioned, it is important to note that Liverpool's interest in Andre does not exist in a vacuum. The club understands the intricacies of transitioning from South American to European football. It's a challenging process that often requires time for players to adapt fully.

While Andre's talent is undeniable, Liverpool must also consider options from within Europe to ensure a seamless integration into the squad. As the January transfer window beckons, the pursuit of Trindade remains a central theme in Liverpool's transfer plans.

Carabao Cup Nomination For Wilson

Harry Wilson has been nominated for the Carabao Cup Player of the Round following his performance in the 3-1 win over Ipswich.

The forward opened the scoring at Portman Road, neatly rounding the goalkeeper and finishing in the ninth minute.

The goal sent Fulham on their way to reach the Quarter Finals of the competition for the first time since 2005.

He faces competition from West Ham's Jarrod Bowen, Port Vale's Alfie Devine and Exeter's Ryan Trevitt.

Fulham overtake Arsenal in race for Brazilian midfielder
Fulham have taken the lead in the race to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre, with Liverpool and Arsenal seemingly turning elsewhere.

In recent days, Arsenal were again linked with Fluminense midfielder Andre, with reports suggesting the Gunners had scouted the player again during the Copa Libertadores final over the weekend.

Yet new reports from Brazil suggest the midfielder is set for a different Premier League club.

Bruno Andrade tells the Canal GOAT YouTube channel that whilst Arsenal and Liverpool have been keeping an eye on Andre, Fulham are leading the English competition for the player.

Arsenal have reportedly turned to other options, monitoring Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa among them.
Latest Arsenal injury updates and news

David Lynch of This Is Anfield adds that Liverpool are now not planning to explore a move for Andre, with no plans to make a return for the player in January.

In response to an article on Liverpool's withdrawal, Andrade repeated on Twitter that Andre has a "free way to Fulham".

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte report that Andre has an agreement with Fluminense for a transfer at the end of the year.

Andre will compete in the Club World Cup in December, with Fluminense having won the Copa Libertadores. But he's then expected to be on the move.

Liverpool have already had a €30m (£26m) offer turned down, as Fluminense didn't want to sell mid-season, and Andre was happy to stay to compete in the Copa Libertadores.

Edu Gaspar spent time in Brazil over the international break, and he reportedly visited a number of clubs including Fluminense.

But given Fluminense weren't the only club to receive the Arsenal technical director, there's no reason to believe it was a transfer-related visit.

Tottenham lining up January swoop of Tosin Adarabioyo
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to acquire the services of 26-year-old Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo in the winter transfer window.

According to a Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Tosin Adarabioyo in their ranks. Spurs suffered a huge blow on Monday as their summer signing Micky van de Ven picked up a major injury, and they are now looking to go all out for a new defender in the winter.

Ange Postecoglou got off to a flying start at his new club Tottenham Hotspur. The Australian tactician has managed to get his idea across to his players quite early and they started playing an attractive and dominating style of football.

One of the major reasons for their success so far was their defensive duo of World Cup winner Cristian Romero and summer signing Micky van de Ven. They were unbeaten in the league heading into the fixture against Chelsea on Monday.

Their incredible start to the new came crumbling down against the Blues as they lost 4-1. Romero was sent off in the first half and van de Ven picked up an injury. He could not even walk after the end of the game. The 22-year-old has suffered a serious hamstring injury and he is expected to be out for a while.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur were already planning to sign a midfielder as well as a defender in the winter. And, now they are looking to push harder to land a new centre-back as soon as possible. Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo is one of their targets.

The 26-year-old was linked with Spurs in the summer as well. But they could not acquire his services. However, they are looking to once again push for him in the winter. Adarabioyo has only made one appearance so far this season. He picked up an injury quite early in the season and underwent groin surgery.

The English centre-back is expected to return from injury in the coming weeks. But, his future at Fulham looks uncertain with his contract expiring in the summer of 2024. With just over six months left on his deal and no major update on a new deal, the Cottagers could cash in on him in the winter.

Liverpool walk away from January move for Andre
Liverpool have reportedly abandoned their pursuit of Fluminense midfielder Andre, thus opening the door for Arsenal and Fulham.

According to This Is Anfield, Liverpool are ready to walk away from their pursuit of midfield target Andre. The Fluminense star was the subject of interest for the Merseysiders during the summer. Still, Jurgen Klopp may consider the position closed, thus paving the way for Fulham and Arsenal to make their move for the Brazilian.

Liverpool's desperate need to shape their midfield department during the summer took them to places. Jurgen Klopp kept adding many names to his shortlist to get the best possible players as part of his midfield shake-up.

Some notable stars like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho departed for the Saudi Pro League. At the same time, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner also moved on upon the expiration of their contracts. Those exits meant Liverpool had plenty of work on their hands to bring in replacements.

Initially, they signed Alexis Mac Allister and followed that up by acquiring Dominic Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig. Klopp still needed more stars in those central positions, as Liverpool's pursuits of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia proved futile.

As an alternative to one of those Chelsea summer signings, Klopp decided to spend on 30-year-old Wataru Endo and then wrapped up his window by acquiring Ryan Gravenberch. The duo's arrival may have closed the need for another midfielder, at least until next summer, as the media continued to link them with a move for Andre.

Liverpool held an interest in the 22-year-old Brazilian during the summer and may have preferred to sign him then. His club, Fluminense, wanted to keep Andre for the remainder of their season, especially considering they had plenty to win, especially the Copa Libertadores.

In hindsight, their decision paid dividends, considering Andre played a crucial role in the South American showpiece Final. Fluminense beat Boca Junior in Rio De Janeiro, with his club reportedly open to discussing a move for the 22-year-old now, considering they have achieved their objective now.

Despite persistent links to Liverpool stating the Merseysiders will return to the table for the 22-year-old, their interest has waned. The Reds are no longer in the chase and are ready to walk away from the pursuit of Andre.

With Fulham entering the chase recently, it could be a significant opportunity for the Cottagers to attempt signing the midfielder. Marco Silva may have already started looking for a potential Joao Palihinha replacement, offering the 22-year-old Brazilian a route to England.

Similarly, as per reports, Arsenal had sent scouts to watch Andre as Mikel Arteta ponders a midfield addition in January. Whether they are serious about the 22-year-old remains the question, but director Edu Gaspar does have excellent connections in Brazil.

For Liverpool, they might still hold an interest in Andre, but ahead of the January window, Klopp may have other priorities over a new midfielder. The German boss would reportedly like a new centre-back and potentially a right-back as cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Journalist claims Spurs are more likely to sign 22-year-old than West Ham
Journalist Dean Jones has said that Santiago Gimenez is more likely to end up at Tottenham Hotspur than West Ham United or Fulham, but he revealed that Feyenoord have not opened talks regarding the striker with any club as of yet.

Gimenez has become one of the hottest properties across European football as the striker has been unable to stop scoring since the start of the calendar year.

Tottenham are one of the club's clubs across the continent thought to be eyeing a move for the striker (90 min), while Real Madrid (Fichajes) and Barcelona (Sport) have also been named as the 22-year-old's admirers over recent weeks.

More recently, W Deportes suggested that Spurs might face competition from their London rivals Fulham for Gimenez's signature, with the Cottagers said to have identified the Mexican as the ideal option to fill the shoes of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror reported last week that West Ham are looking for a new number nine to upgrade on Michail Antonio and that the Feyenoord star is a popular name among the Hammers' transfer committee

Gimenez is more likely to join Spurs than West Ham
Jones has now told GiveMeSport: "Santiago Gimenez is causing all sorts of fuss at the moment, and a lot of recruitment teams across the Premier League are tracking his situation.

"From what I have been able to gather so far, a move to Tottenham would be a lot more plausible than a move to West Ham or Fulham because this is a player who is already used to the Champions League and feels he has a place at the very top of the game.

"But there are big teams that Spurs are also going to have to win over if they make their interest firm, including Real Madrid.

"I'm told they are more likely than Barcelona as a landing spot at this moment and, when we start talking about these sorts of things, it's pretty clear why a club like Fulham might have their work cut out to sign him.

"He's also going to cost big money – I think somewhere towards £60million. But Feyenoord don't even want to talk about that until the season is over."

Spurs Web Opinion
If Richarlison does not turn a corner soon and find his scoring boots, Postecoglou could perhaps decide that signing another goalscorer is a priority in January as we would potentially be in deep trouble if there is an injury to Sonny.

Arsenal & Fulham scouts track Brazil midfielder as they aim to hijack Liverpool's January move
Arsenal, Liverpool and Fulham are all expected to move for a highly rated Brazilian midfielder

A number of Arsenal and Fulham scouts were reportedly spotted in the crowd at the famous Maracanã stadium this weekend as Fluminense famously lifted the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history in a dramatic final against Boca Juniors.

The tournament, which is the South American equivalent to the Champions League final, attracted huge interest from some of the Premier League's most distinguished scouts as they monitor highly-rated midfield prospect Andre Trindade of Fluminense.

Andre impressed in the final and was one of the star performers throughout the 120 minute contest for the South American champions.

The 22-year-old has been on the radar of a number of top European clubs for several months and he even made his competitive debut for the star-studded Brazil national team earlier this year.

Andre has been a regular starter for Fluminense for four years and has already racked up over 94 league appearances, whilst also featuring in all 13 of his side's games in their road to glory in the Copa Libertadores.

The defensive midfielder was notably the subject of immense interest from Liverpool in the summer, according to South American journalist Tim Vickery, who said: "Andre nearly joined Liverpool in the last transfer window and may well make the move in the next."

Reports from Liverpool World added that the move did not materialise in the summer due to Fluminense's desire to succeed in the Copa Libertadores.

SportsMole added that Liverpool's offer of around £25m was turned down in the summer, as Fluminense hope to push for a higher fee.

Liverpool have been in the market for a defensive minded midfielder since the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, but the latest news of Arsenal and Fulham's interest suggests there could be a three-way bidding war in the winter.

Brazilian outlet ge.globo explains: "This is because the midfielder and (team mate) Tricolor have an agreement for the sale to be completed at the end of this year. Those interested are Liverpool, Arsenal and Fulham, all from England. However, he will compete in the Club World Cup in December."

Arsenal are also in the market for a midfielder, amid reports of a potential departure for the injury-hit Thomas Partey. Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to add a pivot to partner Declan Rice to allow his side to thrive in Europe and domestic competitions.

Birmingham City should rival Leeds and Sunderland if they're served Fulham blow: View
Birmingham City should look to join transfer race for AFC Wimbledon forward if Jay Stansfield leaves.

Jay Stansfield has been important for Birmingham City, scoring two out of three goals in recent matches and proving to be a key player for the club.
However, Fulham may recall Stansfield in January, increasing the need for Birmingham to look at attacking options. Ali Al-Hamadi of AFC Wimbledon is a potential target.
Al-Hamadi has been performing well in League Two, with impressive stats including goals and assists. He has attracted interest from Sunderland, Leeds United, and other Championship sides.

Wayne Rooney is only a few games into his Birmingham City managerial career, but it is already clear who is important in his side.

In Rooney's first two games in charge of the club, Birmingham failed to score a single goal. But in their last two encounters against Southampton and Ipswich Town, the club are up and running in terms of goals.

Two out of the three goals have been scored by forward Jay Stansfield, and he was expected to have an important role in the club's season, and that is becoming apparent now.

However, the concern for Birmingham will be that the more the player performs and catches the eye, the greater the chances of Fulham recalling the forward in January, especially when you consider how poor they have been in front of goal in the Premier League.

So with that said, Birmingham may need to look at attacking options for when January comes around, and they should look no further than AFC Wimbledon forward Ali Al-Hamadi.

Which teams are interested in Ali Al-Hamadi?
It was first reported by Sports Illustrated, that Sunderland are weighing up a move for the League Two striker.

The report states that the Black Cats have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old's recent performances for the League Two side.

But they have been joined by a host of Championship sides in recent weeks, as Leeds United are said to have joined the race.

While Bristol City, Stoke City, Hull, and Cardiff City are also believed to be keen on the forward, as reported by journalist Darren Witcoop. He also adds that Wimbledon will look for a £1 million plus for Al-Hamadi after rejecting bids from Barnsley and Peterborough United in the summer.

So, it seems Al-Hamadi is going to be a wanted man in January, and if Birmingham do see Stansfield return to his parent club, there is no reason why they shouldn't also be keen on the player.

Why should Birmingham City join Sunderland and Leeds United in the race for Ali Al-Hamadi?
The Iraqi international has made an impressive start to this League Two campaign as he looks to help Wimbledon get promoted back to League One.

Al Hamadi impressed in the second half of last season for the Dons after joining the club in the January transfer window of this year.

The forward struggled to break into the Swansea City team earlier in his career, so he decided to take a step down the Football League, and after a spell at Wycombe Wanderers, he joined Wimbledon.

Al-Hamadi netted 10 times in 19 League Two appearances last season, and so far, this season, he has four goals and five assists in 14 league appearances.

The 21-year-old is performing really well in the fourth tier, with him averaging 3.4 shots per game as well as 1.5 dribbles and an impressive 1.9 key passes, as per WhoScored.com.

Al-Hamadi is a player that seems to love playing football and is enjoying it for AFC Wimbledon, but his numbers are attracting interest from the Championship, and it seems only a matter of time before he seals another move.

The Iraq international could be the perfect signing for Rooney, as he has the 'no fear' style in him.

He makes a nuisance of himself at the top end of the pitch and loves to play on the edge. He looks to be a player that would fit what Rooney is trying to create at the club.

Plus, Al-Hamadi would love to prove people wrong from his Swansea days; the concern would be whether he could continue scoring regularly in the second tier.

But Al Hamadi seems to be a player who lives on confidence, and as long as he's given that, he will keep producing.

He could be the best replacement for Stansfield should he leave in January, and if not, he could be a great partner for the Fulham forward.
