Does anyone think or quite confident that one possibly two deals have already been finalised to the point just waiting to announce them at the appropriate time?
Or
Can we afford a long drawn out transfer window this time? We were desperate under Parker due to not playing Mitro and ended up late signing of Maja! (Spelling)

Two positions which we are strongly linked with are defensive midfield and forwards but currently these two positions are arguably the most sought after.
Just premiership alone teams like Chelsea Arsenal Spurs West Ham all reported looking at bringing in a new forward this January so what market are we shopping in and do we wait our turn for what's left.
Liverpool Man U Arsenal being linked with defensive midfielders so like the forward scenario?
The other problem is the big teams telling the player/s and agents to bide their time as they will come knocking?

I have said on previous threads that Silva signing the contract is tied in with a couple of players coming in imo.

"How's that?"

We were very lucky to sign up a centre forward early in the window in the summer such as Raul Jimenez, because it is unusual for a good centre forwards to be available early in the window, but early in the window only strikers that better teams have no interest in are available. If we want a striker better than Raúl Jiménez (and I think we do), then we have to wait for the striker we want to miss out on getting an Arsenal or Spurs transfer.

Can we afford a long drawn out transfer window this time? YES, we cannot afford to bring in the wrong centre forward transfer so we must wait until the right transfer, and if the right transfer doesn't come along we may need to wait until the summer and/or if we are in a relegation battle get a loan in.

It seems to me that most of the good strikers are involved in the Africa Cup of Nations so there could be a lot of waiting.

How did we put 3 goals (4 if you include disallowed one) past Liverpool at Anfield without a striker, and 3 past Wolves six days earlier, without a striker?

Had we and some players convinced ourselves that we were a one man team and would never score a goal again without Mitro.  Also, why was it that when Mitro had been missing for 8 games in the previous season, there had been no sense of panic and the players still turned up and performed in a business and usual attitude and still won games with goals scored?

Yes, we do need a new striker, but as this and last season has already shown us, we are not necessarily dependent on one!

Two penalties and a back up keeper helping us out on two goals helped last week

We need a top quality striker, whether it's a Mitro
look alike or a Fox in the Box.
That is 100% priority.

Fulham have to get their Fat Wallet out, remove the barbed wire, wipe away the rust and blow away the cobwebs and flash the cash.

No question, obviously others have to contribute as well as they did on Sunday.
Plus we need another CB to boost the ranks in the back Division. A tall strong physical footballing centre half who can destroy attacks and clear quickly.

Also the fact that we had spotted a weakness down Liverpool's right flank and adjusted our tactics to good effect.

It has been clear all season that our priority is a new striker and therefore you would think that by now we would be ready to make a signing immediately the window opens.

However, history shows that we do like to wait for window closing day in the hope of picking up a bargain basement buy.

There is no way that Forest will play the open game that Liverpool did and we will be back to breaking down a tighter set up defence. This will be an interesting challenge and indication of our progress.

It's fair to say the club was caught off guard with Mitro throwing his toys out of the pram, Palhinha almost going and even Willian's new contract negotiations.

The distruption to the start of our season has at least left the club with plenty of time to plan their recruitment and get it done in a timely fashion this window.

Hopefully!
