Everton eyeing up a move for Harrison Reed

Everton are reportedly eyeing a loan move for Harrison Reed, who has seen his game time depleted at Fulham, but it may prove tricky.
Paul Brown on Give Me Sport insists that Everton are interested in Harrison Reed and could make a loan approach for the Fulham midfielder. The 28-year-old has seen his game time depleted at Craven Cottage, which could have fueled rumours of him wanting an exit.

Everton are interested in Harrison Reed
As per Paul Brown on Give Me Sport, it's a strange link to have in this transfer window, as the Journalist feels Everton have their midfield sorted out right now. Harrison Reed has been impressive when he takes up the field with Fulham, but he has seen his game time vastly reduced this season.

Hence, the 28-year-old Fulham star might feel the need to play more prominently at Craven Cottage, but so far, that has not materialised. Hence, he could find it appealing to see some clubs interested, with Everton reportedly in the running.

With financial issues engulfing the Goodison Park outfit, there are chances the Toffees could approach Fulham over a loan deal. Whether that comes with the promise of regular game time or if it is to replace an outgoing player remains to be seen.

Reports are suggesting Everton might offload Andre Gomes, but the Portuguese star has impressed this season after returning from a long injury.

Alternatively, it could also be for Amadou Onana, whom Everton are ready to sell for £60 million or more amid links to Arsenal and Manchester United lately. Either way, Sean Dyche may have seen something in the midfielder that he feels would improve his Everton side.

Could Reed benefit from Everton's move?
Paul Brown has doubts about the prospects of Reed making the grade at Everton, as the Journalist feels the Toffees midfield looks entirely sorted. He insisted that if the 28-year-old Fulham star comes in expecting to start every week, then he may have made the wrong decision.

Brown said, "I've heard links between Everton and Reed before. I do think he is a player that they really like. I can remember, not so long ago, Marco Silva talking him up as a potential England international. He was saying that he was very surprised he hadn't been called up."

I actually think that it is a strange one right now, in terms of timing, because Everton have got their midfield sorted out at the moment."I think the balance is quite good there, but someone like Reed would come in expecting to start every week. He might not get that opportunity in the way that Dyche likes to set up."

Premier League winter break: When is it? What are the fixtures? Why was it brought in?
The Premier League winter break - or mid-season player break as the league likes to call it - returns this season.

The only previous break came in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic and last year's winter World Cup in Qatar putting paid to it since.

Here's how it works.

When is the Premier League winter break?
Rather than the league stopping completely - like we see in Spain, Germany and France for example - the break is split over two weekends.

That means matchweek 21 is over two weekends, with five games in each. It means 10 teams play one weekend, and get the following off, with the other 10 taking a weekend off before playing.

Half of the games are across 12-14 January, with the other five taking place across 20-22 January.

In 2020, the break took place across matchweek 26 so it is happening considerably earlier this season, and much closer to the hectic Christmas period, where the schedule is more condensed.

What are the fixtures during the winter break?
On both weekends, the five matches are split across three days for TV broadcast purposes. Here are the fixtures (all times are GMT and subject to change):

Friday, 12 January

Burnley v Luton Town (19:45)

Saturday, 13 January

Chelsea v Fulham (12:30)

Newcastle United v Manchester City (17:30)

Sunday, 14 January

Everton v Aston Villa (14:00)

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (16:30)

Saturday, 20 January

Arsenal v Crystal Palace (12:30)

Brentford v Nottingham Forest (17:30)

Sunday, 21 January

Sheffield United v West Ham United (14:00)

Bournemouth v Liverpool (16:30)

Monday, 22 January

Brighton & Hove Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers (19:45)

The Carabao Cup semi-finals will be played around the break, but any side needing a replay in the FA Cup third round has their break reduced as a result of the extra game.

Which sides will benefit the most?
Seven Premier League sides - Crystal Palace, Everton, Brentford, Wolves, Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and West Ham - face a replay in the FA Cup third round.

Wolves were set to benefit most with a 17-day break, but has been reduced to 11 days as a result of the extra game.

The three Premier League teams in the EFL Cup last four - Chelsea, Fulham and Liverpool - already had reduced breaks. They have 10-, 11- and 11-day breaks respectively.

It is difficult to work out exact breaks at this stage because some sides return to action with their FA Cup fourth-round tie, which dates are yet to be confirmed for.

Working on the basis that teams play on Saturday, 27 January if they have an FA Cup fourth-round tie, then Burnley benefit the most from the winter break. Vincent Kompany's side are set to have 19 days between matches. Their last game before the break, in the Premier League against Luton, has been brought forward three days because the Hatters now have an FA Cup replay at Bolton. Their first game after the break, because they are out of the FA Cup themselves, is at Manchester City on 31 January.

Brighton are set to have 16 days off, with Bournemouth and Sheffield United having 15. Manchester City and Newcastle have 14 days off currently, with five sides - including Arsenal and Tottenham - having 13.

Nottingham Forest's break is 10 days with their FA Cup replay taking place on Wednesday, 17 January. They would also have another 10 days off if they fail to progress.

Everton may have two 10-day gaps - one between their original FA Cup tie and Premier League game on 14 January and then another from their replay with Palace and a potential fourth-round tie.

Why was it brought in and what was the reaction?
The first break was agreed in June 2018 by the Football Association, Premier League and English Football League.

The FA described it as "a significant moment", saying it would "greatly benefit club and country" before the European Championship that summer. It is the same this summer.

Players were given a break from training last time before a number of top-flight clubs opted to travel overseas for warm weather training.

The reaction was largely positive, but then Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho said he "doesn't care about the break" because he wanted it to be closer to their Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was annoyed at FA Cup replays shortening the break last time, opting to rule first-team players and himself out of their tie against Shrewsbury, saying: "If we react how we always react and find a way to do it, then nothing will change."

After his side beat Arsenal on Sunday and avoided a replay, the German called it "the biggest bonus ever", while Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who saw his side draw with Wolves, said: "It's the worst outcome in every aspect."

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson called the replay "the last thing either of us wanted in a way" after his side drew 0-0 with Everton.

Liverpool could make six changes against Fulham as left-back makes return
Liverpool are next up against Fulham in the League Cup with Jurgen Klopp facing some selection posers

Liverpool produced a statement victory as they secured their place in the last 32 of the FA Cup with a victory at Arsenal.

An own goal from Jakub Kiwior and a Luis Diaz strike made the difference late on as the Reds earned a 2-0 triumph for their first victory in the competition at the Gunners in almost 60 years.

Liverpool now turn their attentions to the League Cup and their semi-final first leg at home to Fulham on Wednesday. And here we look ahead to the changes Jurgen Klopp could make when his team are next in action.

While Klopp rotated heavily during the opening rounds of the League Cup, he went stronger for the quarter-final win over West Ham United before Christmas. And the lengthy list of unavailable players suggests there may not be much wriggle room for the Liverpool boss to do otherwise against Fulham.

One change will see League Cup specialist Caoimhin Kelleher replace Alisson Becker in goal. The centre-back situation will be determined by whether Virgil van Dijk overcomes the illness that forced him to miss out against Arsenal. Jarell Quansah will be on standby to again deputise alongside Ibrahima Konate, although Joe Gomez could be an option with Joel Matip out for the season. Nat Phillips is also back training after returning from a loan at Celtic.

That, though, will be influenced by Gomez continuing at left-back, given Owen Beck - recalled from his loan at Scottish Premiership side Dundee - is now available having served a historic one-match suspension. Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are injured, while young Luke Chambers was on the bench at the Emirates.

And at right-back, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is the first choice, a bright cameo from Conor Bradley at the weekend indicated he is pressing for a start should Alexander-Arnold be required in midfield.

Jones question
Alexis Mac Allister returned as the number six at Arsenal and, with Wataru Endo away on international duty, is the sole dedicated defensive midfielder. Both Curtis Jones and Alexander-Arnold dropped into the position at times against Arsenal and are other alternatives, while teenager James McConnell is in reserve.

Jones has started the last few games on the left of the midfield ahead of Ryan Gravenberch, while at the weekend Cody Gakpo dropped out of the attack to slot in on the right only for Harvey Elliott to shift from right wing to his more accustomed engine room role.

Teenager Bobby Clark came off the bench at the Emirates while 16-year-old Trey Nyoni was among the substitutes. Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are all sidelined.

Diaz right?
Klopp demonstrated during the 90 minutes at Arsenal there are several ways to adjust to life without Mohamed Salah, with some more successful than others.

All four senior forwards - Gakpo, Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota - can operate on the left wing, with all bar Diaz having also started on the right. The Colombian was impressive when moved to the right in the second half on Sunday, although Jota has also played in the position in the past. Elliott is another alternative, along with youngster Kaide Gordon.

Luke Harris shows Exeter City that he was worth waiting for
Teenager hailed after debut performance, as was Sonny Cox for his man-of-the-match contribution

Exeter City may have had to wait four months longer than hoped for the arrival of Luke Harris, but the teenager showed immediately why Gary Caldwell was keen to bring him to St James Park. A deal had been agreed in the summer for the Fulham star, only for the deal to collapse just minutes before the transfer window closed.

Although he then played for the Cottagers in their Premier League clash at Manchester City the next day, his only other first team football before his Grecians debut on Saturday had been two EFL Trophy group stage matches for Fulham's U21s. But taking to the pitch in League One, he made an instant impact, could have scored with pretty much his first touch, and played a part in helping Exeter secure a vital win.

Reece Cole opened the scoring for City just before the hour when he drilled home a powerful strike from 12 yards out, after Harris' cross was only half cleared by the Carlisle United defence. Sonny Cox doubled the lead 15 minutes from time when he reacted quickest to poke home after Jack Aitchison's effort rebounded off the post.

A late Dan Butterworth goal made the final moments nervier than they needed to be as the Grecians had been completely on top. But City held on to secure what was only a second win in their last 17 League One outings, but it is now seven points from the last nine on home turf, and to move out of the relegation zone.

"He was incredible," manager Caldwell said. "He is someone we have chased for a while and everyone in the stadium can see why. He can be really happy with performance, only a start, but he can give so much in the second half of the season.

"I have known him since the summer and tried to bring in the summer but he has been brilliant. He showed his quality, will be disappointed that he didn't score and he will be hungry to influence that part of the game. Everything he did from passing to moving, to competing, and he was aggressive."

While Harris on debut was impressive, man-of-the-match was given to Cox, who led the line superbly. From the first minute, he ran the backline of the Cumbrians ragged, competed physically, and when the chance came to him, was in the right place and the right time to poke home a second goal of the season.

The 19-year-old has come back from his loan spell at National League South outfit Yeovil Town like a different player. He has matured to become the talent City have known he could be for ages, and two goals in the past four matches, is starting to be the goalscorer Exeter have needed all season.

"Sonny was incredible the way he ran the channels and held the ball up, and he got into the area where we need to score goals and got his reward and won us the game," Caldwell said. "He was amazing today and has had a real step up in physicality and confidence levels. For a teenager to do that, it was amazing.

"He missed one before he scored but he was in the right area and got in the same position and gets the reward to win the game. He has been a massive bonus since he came back, and he has a massive future ahead of him. I was delighted with everyone but some individual performances were very impressive and there is a real hope to look forward to the second half of the season."

Milan interested in Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo
Milan have shortlisted Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo as a potential signing.

According to a tweet by Luca Bianchin, Milan have started following Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo. However, the signing is considered impossible during this transfer window and the goal to land him is set for the summer.

The 26-year-old's contract with The Cottagers ends at the end of this season and the Rossoneri will be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with him now. No renewal talks between the player and the Premier League side are scheduled and the central defender is expected to leave for free.

Manager Stefano Pioli has faced an injury crisis this campaign and due to that, the club had to bring in Matteo Gabbia and Filippo Terracciano to increase the defensive depth. The additions are considered not enough and Milan will be required to sign another defender to avert any concerns for next season and Tosin could be a concrete option.

Fulham make offer for Roma target Çağlar Söyüncü
Turkish defender Çağlar Söyüncü, who is currently at Atletico Madrid, has received an offer from Fulham amidst interest from Roma.

The Giallorossi need more depth at centre-back, even though Dean Huijsen has joined on a dry loan deal from Juventus and he impressed against Atalanta.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Roma have asked Atleti about the possibility of signing the Turk on a loan deal this month. But despite that, Roma aren't in an advantage in the saga at all as interest from the Premier League already exists and offers have been made.

Fulham are interested and have offered €20 million for a permanent move this month. Roma are now only hoping that Söyüncü doesn't accept the move back to the Premier League and they will wait till the end of the window to strike a loan deal.

The 27-year-old hasn't been a regular this season for Atleti, having played only six times in the La Liga and having failed to become a regular.

Liverpool vs. Fulham: Why there's no VAR for Carabao Cup semi-final
Liverpool face Fulham in their Carabao Cup semi-final – and there will be no VAR for either leg despite its planned introduction for this round.

Jurgen Klopp's men have a place in the last four of the competition after wins against Leicester, Bournemouth and West Ham, with Fulham now the last team blocking another final berth.

The semi-final clash was due to be the first round in the Carabao Cup that would use VAR, however, the EFL has decided that will no longer be the case to keep it fair.

Three Premier League teams – Liverpool, Fulham and Chelsea – all have VAR technology in place at their stadiums, but fellow semi-finalists Middlesbrough do not.

In a bid to keep a level playing field, the EFL have decided that VAR will now only be used in the final instead of allowing three of the four matches across the two legs to use it.

An EFL spokesman told The Telegraph: "There will be no VAR used in the semi finals because it was not possible for the technology to be used at Middlesbrough.

"It was decided it was fairer to not use it in any of the four semi final games as a result. The FA took a different approach (in the FA Cup) but we felt this was the way to go. If it couldn't be used in one of the games it won't be used in any of the four semi final legs.

"However, VAR will be used for the final regardless of who is playing in it as the technology is already installed at Wembley."

It is at odds with the FA Cup, which uses VAR in games where the technology is available, even if other fixtures in the same round do not have access.

As for who is officiating Liverpool's first leg against Fulham on Wednesday, David Coote is the man in the middle – someone Reds will be all too familiar with.

Coote was the VAR for last month's top-of-the-table meeting with Arsenal, when Martin Odegaard's obvious handball failed to be punished.

He will be assisted from the touchline by Timothy Wood and Wade Smith, while Tim Robinson stands in as the fourth official at Anfield.

There is bound to be mixed reactions to VAR being absent across these games, some will embrace it and others may question its absence should referees miss big decisions that cost a team a place in the final.

The Reds' first leg against Fulham is on Wednesday before the return leg at Craven Cottage on January 24 – the final, meanwhile, is at Wembley on February 25.

Fulham have 'already presented offer' worth €20m for signing – Player has PL experience
Fulham are keen on signing Atlético Madrid's Çağlar Söyüncü in the winter market, as per a report from Italy.

The defender joined the La Liga side as a free agent last summer and has been restricted to 110 minutes of action from six league games, which includes one start. He's made two more substitute appearances in the Champions League this season.

His current situation in Madrid has seen both Fulham and AS Roma consider making an approach, according to Sky Italia.

José Mourinho has requested his employer strengthen their defence this month and the Serie A side have now set their sights on the Turkey international. It will only be feasible for them to sign him on a loan deal and they would have to wait until the end of this window.

That's because the 27-year-old has a market abroad and especially in the Premier League, where Marco Silva's side are named as the only interested party.

Sky further add Fulham have 'already presented an offer' worth €20m to bring the former Leicester City man back to England.

Therefore, Roma will only stand a chance to sign Söyüncü if he were to reject Fulham and other offers.

There's no mention if either the centre-back or Atlético are open to a transfer in January.

Anfield Awaits: Reds vs Fulham Preview

Carabao Cup Showdown: Liverpool Welcomes Fulham
In an enthralling encounter at Anfield, Liverpool sets the stage for the Carabao Cup semi-final's opening act against Fulham. With aspirations of a Wembley final insight, the Reds' formidable form this season paints them as the undisputed frontrunners.

Anfield Anticipation: Reds' Resurgence Meets Fulham's Fervour
Liverpool's resurgence is no fleeting tale; it's an emphatic response to the previous season's tribulations. Perched at the Premier League summit and cruising into the FA Cup's next chapter, Jurgen Klopp's men have transformed Anfield into a fortress. Fulham faces a daunting task, aiming to dismantle Liverpool's stronghold.

Last month's encounter was nothing short of a classic, with Marco Silva's squad giving Liverpool a formidable challenge in a seven-goal spectacle. Despite their narrow defeat, Fulham's tenacity could be the wildcard in their deck.

Match Essentials: Timing and Telecast
Mark your calendars for 8 pm GMT on Wednesday, 10 January 2024. Anfield will be a cauldron of passion and spectacle.

For those unable to join the live chorus of Anfield, the match unfolds on television screens across Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football, and Sky Sports Ultra HDR, with coverage commencing at 7 pm.

Squad Depth and Dynamics: Team News
Liverpool yearns for the return of Virgil van Dijk, the defensive titan, following his absence against Arsenal. Meanwhile, the injury bench extends for the Reds, sidelining Szoboszlai, Robertson, Tsimikas, Alcantara, Bajcetic, and Matip.

The Reds feel the absence of Mohamed Salah, bound for national duties at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Wataru Endo represents Japan in the Asian Cup.

Fulham grapples with its own roster riddles. Missing key players like Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Fode Ballo-Toure due to AFCON commitments, and injuries to Tim Ream and Adama Traore add to Silva's strategic conundrums.

Strategic Reshuffles: Silva's Selections
Post the victory over Rotherham, Silva is anticipated to bring back Raul Jimenez, Willian, Joao Palhinha, Antonee Robinson, and Tom Cairney into the fray, fortifying Fulham's starting lineup.

Clash Conjectures: Reds vs Fulham Outlook
Fulham's previous Anfield endeavour signals their capacity to challenge Liverpool's dominion. Yet, to envisage a home defeat for the Reds would defy the narrative of their season's prowess.

AC Milan keen to wrap up early summer deal for 26-year-old Fulham star
AC Milan are reportedly set to enter pre-contract talks with Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo.

That's according to a recent report from Luca Bianchin, who claims the Serie A giants are keen to sign the centre-back on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Although a deal to move to the San Siro is considered "impossible" this month, an agreement is likely in time for the summer, and after refusing to extend his deal with the Cottagers, the 26-year-old is destined to leave England's capital.

As for AC Milan, with their injuries stacking up, manager Stefano Pioli will feel frustrated he can't get Adarabayio through the door quicker, but considering the club are close to signing a Premier League established defender, in his prime, for free, will serve as a huge boost for not only the Rossoneri but also Italian football, as a whole.

During his four years with Fulham, Adarabayio, who left Manchester City's academy, has scored four goals and registered two assists in 117 games in all competitions.

GdS: Milan want Fulham defender on a free transfer in June – the details
After the signing of Filippo Terracciano and the return of Matteo Gabbia, the AC Milan management are looking for pieces to complete the defence of the future.

According to this morning's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), the belief of the directors is that another central defender is needed and there are a number of candidates being considered.

Lilian Brassier of Brest remains a strong candidate, as Geoffrey Moncada seemed to admit before the game against Empoli. The issue is that Milan would like to sign him for less than €10m and the obstacle is the competition from Monaco, who are offering more.

The Rossoneri are banking on the will of Brassier, who would gladly make the move to Italy and join Milan this month, but we must wait for developments on that front.

For June, the name of Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged, a 26-year-old English centre-back who came through the academy at Manchester City and is in his fourth season with Fulham. In five months his deal will expire and Milan are following him carefully.

Adarabioyo has made eight Premier League appearances this season so far, after making 25 the season before and 33 back in 2020-21, when he really established himself as a top flight starter.

Fulham v Newcastle tickets – This looks set to be NUFC ticket allocation for FA Cup fourth round
Fulham v Newcastle tickets are going to be massively in demand.

Down on Wearside, Newcastle United fans getting an allocation of 6,000 tickets for Sunderland and what fun they had!

So what can we expect when it comes to Fulham v Newcastle tickets for this FA Cup fourth round?

The match to be played on the weekend of Saturday 27 January, with date and time still to be confirmed.

However, Fulham already have their League Cup semi-final second leg at home to Liverpool scheduled on Wednesday 24 January. Whilst the following Tuesday (30 January), Newcastle are away at Villa in the Premier League AND Fulham are home to Everton in the PL that same night.

So it is difficult to see the FA Cup fourth round match getting played on anything other than Saturday 27 January.

The rules of the competition say that clubs are obliged to give at least 15% of the capacity to the away fans. Though of course that can be massively distorted by the Police / SAG (Safety Advisory Group) if they flag up reasons why a full away allocation shouldn't be given.

Difficult to see why that should be the case when it comes to Fulham v Newcastle tickets.

Home games in the Premier League against the likes of Man U and Arsenal have seen Fulham get crowds of just over 24,400.

A 15 per cent allocation would equal around 3,660.

Their third round FA Cup match at the weekend not much of a guide.

Fulham only attracting a crowd of 15,083 and that included 690 Rotherham fans, as the home side progressed on Friday night.

However, positive news on the Fulham v Newcastle tickets front for away fans, based on last season.

Fulham were at home to Leeds in the FA Cup fifth round last season and the home side won 2-0.

For that match, Leeds fans were allocated 6,165 tickets for Fulham. They were charged £40 adults, £20 for those 65 and over, £20 those aged 18-21, then £15 for under 18s.

The total crowd for that February 2023 FA Cup Fulham v Leeds match was 19,359, however, I would be surprised if this Newcastle United match wasn't sold out.

So long as they give Newcastle an allocation at least the same as Leeds got (here's hoping), it only leaves around 18,000 tickets for Fulham to have to sell to their own fans.

'Following carefully' – Club have 'eyes on' Fulham player, plan to take him away from Silva's side
Tosin Adarabioyo's contract at Fulham runs until the end of this season and his future seems to be away from the Premier League side. This has seen several clubs take notice and that includes AC Milan.

That's according to today's Gazzetta dello Sport, who state the Serie A side are aiming to sign the centre-back on a free transfer next summer.

Stefano Pioli's side are working on strengthening their defence this month but are also keeping an eye on the future, when the Fulham player would fit in.

Due to the 26-year-old's contract situation, the Rossoneri have set their 'eyes on' him and are also 'following him carefully'. That's all the report has to say about the Englishman.

It may not be easy for Milan to secure his services for free and they could face competition from other clubs.

Earlier claims from Italy had stated AS Roma were offered an opportunity to sign the Fulham man in the winter market. Last week, Fussball Transfers reported Bayern Munich are keen on Adarabioyo.

He missed close to three months this season with a groin injury and returned to action towards the end of November.

The defender has been a starter under Marco Silav since last month.

Exclusive: Arsenal academy guru Massey on Iwobi at Fulham 'great example for young pros'
Alex Iwobi appears to be enjoying life this season in Marco Silva's Fulham side but in a career which started with Arsenal, he hasn't had a linear path to this point.

In an exclusive interview with Tribal Football, former Arsenal academy assistant manager Roy Massey believes Iwobi has benefited from having to work harder than most.

Speaking about Iwobi's time in the academy he said: "When he came to 16, we wanted him to stay on as a scholar but wouldn't offer him a professional contract at the time and there had been another five boys in his team who had been offered professional contracts.

"When this happens a lot of boys' parents could take the hump over this and ask 'why can't my lad get a professional contract'? You're only offering a scholarship which means you don't fancy him as much'.

"But Alex's Dad very wise, [he] sat him in the car and said, 'listen Alex you're going to have a two year scholarship and you're going to prove that you are good enough to become a professional footballer'.

"And that speaks volumes of the way the lad has developed because he didn't want everything on a plate like some players do at 15 or 16."

Whilst Iwobi's attacking returns haven't been too eye-catching since his summer move to Fulham from Everton on deadline day, he has scored three goals in the Premier league this season and has increasingly become a key player in Silva's team.

Massey will know Iwobi the player and person better than most and admitted he is, "delighted with that move from Everton to Fulham for Alex, Alex was a fabulous person to be with and his parents at the academy, {he} never caused any problems."

Iwobi may have not had the career he would have dreamed of at his boyhood club but the way he has handled setbacks speaks volumes about his character and at just 27 years old, he will hope in time to become a fan favourite at Craven Cottage.

Massey concludes: "He's had a great career, he's had a terrific career so far and I'm hoping he does really well when he really gets his feet under the table at Fulham."

Fulham: Vangelis Pavlidis a January transfer target amid Chelsea scouting interest
Chelsea and Barcelona are monitoring the Greek international, who has scored 18 goals in 16 league matches this season

Fulham are monitoring Eredivisie top scorer Vangelis Pavlidis, who hopes to leave AZ Alkmaar this month.

Chelsea, Barcelona and AC Milan have also sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old Greek striker in recent weeks.

AZ are braced for January bids for Pavlidis, who has scored 18 goals in 16 league matches this season.

While Fulham are actively tracking Pavlidis and other strikers, they may only firm up their interest this month if either Carlos Vinicius or Rodrigo Muniz move abroad.

Pavlidis wanted to move to a club in the Champions League last summer, but no top clubs approached AZ or the player directly so he stayed in the Netherlands.

The Greece international told De Telegraaf this weekend: "Are there things going on? I don't talk about that now — I prefer to keep that to myself.

"It is clear that I am physically and technically ready to take the next step. The transfer window in the winter is of course different than in the summer. It is more difficult in several ways. That is why I don't know whether this is the right time.

"Everyone knows that I wanted to take the next step last summer. In the end it was not the right time, because a suitable club did not present itself."

Liverpool left-back cleared to feature vs Fulham as Jürgen Klopp could make five changes
Liverpool has its second cup engagement in four days as it returns to Anfield for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final vs Fulham. Jürgen Klopp has options.

Liverpool will be able to call upon a returning player or two for the League Cup semi-final against Fulham. Jürgen Klopp will no doubt go as strong as possible, with a final within touching distance and a break of 11 days before the next game, but the short turnaround from the testing Arsenal win will need to be taken into consideration.

One major boost would be the return of Virgil van Dijk. To paraphrase Klopp, the Dutchman did not look his best ahead of the FA Cup bout, as illness ruled him out of that one — Liverpool will be hopeful he can return here, with Pep Lijnders likely to give an update in his press conference shortly.

The injured contingent appears unlikely to see much change in time for this fixture. Among the long-term absentees, there has as yet been no indication of imminent returns: the prognosis for Andy Robertson was a return around the end of the month at the last update, while no timeline has been put on Stefan Bajčetić. Klopp has confirmed Thiago is in a 'very good moment', but Liverpool is naturally managing that situation as carefully as possible.

There was some surprise when Kostas Tsimikas posted a photo online that showed him taking part in some training. He was pictured in the gym and even doing some running outside, although as things stand he's still not expected back in time for the Fulham game.

However, one left-back has been cleared to feature, having been ineligible for the FA Cup clash. Liverpool recalled Owen Beck early this month amid the injuries to Robertson and Tsimikas, but he was unable to help out straight away, with two yellow cards picked up in the Scottish League Cup in July resulting in a carried-over suspension.

As a result, Joe Gomez once again filled in, and Klopp could take the chance to rest him here. For a player who has had so many injury troubles, this has been an extended and intense run in the side.

In midfield, Dominik Szoboszlai will still be absent, although there's hope this could be the final game he misses. Klopp has the same options he had for the Arsenal game and will likely field a similar side — it will be interesting to see if there is any further involvement for Bobby Clark.

Up top, Mohamed Salah is obviously still away, with his AFCON campaign having not actually got underway yet. Luis Díaz was among those to step up in his absence, and Darwin Núñez will desperately hope to do the same. With Klopp still boasting four excellent attackers, however, he is not guaranteed a start.

Possible Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, Van Dijk, Beck; Mac Allister, Jones, Gravenberch; Díaz, Jota, Gakpo.

Liverpool.com says: Strong team or not, this is Kelleher's competition. We've seen Klopp keep faith in the Irishman all the way to the final before, and there's no reason to think that will change now. The defense in front of him is the most changed part of the side, as Klopp hopefully welcomes back Van Dijk and then gives Gomez a break.

The midfield is similar, but Ryan Gravenberch coming in is a safe bet. Up top, Núñez misses out, but is bound to feature in some capacity.

Agent heralds player's progress – Clear why Fulham are interested in rising star
Bologna rising star Lewis Ferguson has the 'ability and determination to play at the highest levels' and already has clubs all over Europe interested in him.

That's according to his agent Bill McMurdo, who has praised the 24-year-old midfielder as he continues to be linked with a move, particularly to Fulham.

Ferguson has been labelled something of a 'revelation' for the Italian side, who he joined in a €2m deal from Aberdeen in July 2022.

Since then, he's managed 11 goals and four assists in 52 games for the club, with this year proving to be a breakout one for him as he's managed four goals and three assists in 18 games in Serie A to date.

That's seen several clubs linked with a potential move, including Fulham, who were believed to be hovering looking at a deal back in November.

That saw Ferguson described as something of a bargain, with Bologna even rubbing their hands at a potential sale and the profit they could make should Fulham put a bid in.

That's not happened as yet but his agent is not surprised in the growing interest in his client, praising him and his progress today.

"He is lucky to work with Motta," he said.

"They have great respect for each other, and this connection benefits both the coach and Lewis. Both now and in the future.

"I was convinced that Lewis would have a better season than the previous one. Every year since he became a professional, he has grown as a player. This factor will also characterise his experience at Bologna, because he is a true student of football.

"He wants to develop every aspect of his game; he has the ability and determination to play at the highest levels.

"In the last year the big Italian teams have shown their interest in Lewis, however English, Spanish and French clubs have also set their sights on him.

"He will move when the time is right both for him and for Bologna. He loves being in Italy, especially because his team is doing very well."

Certainly one for Fulham fans to keep an eye on, as Lewis Ferguson goes from strength to strength.

Fulham Make €20m Offer For Atletico Madrid Defender
Fulham Make €20m Offer For Atletico Madrid Defender Caglar Soyuncu, face competition from Roma

Fulham have made a €20m offer for Atletico Madrid defender Caglar Soyucu according to Gianluca Di Marzio but face competition from AS Roma.

As the transfer window heats up the Giallorossi are hot on the trail of another center-back; Soyuncu.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho craves depth at the back, and Söyüncü, despite limited playing time – 6 La Liga appearances – under Simeone, fits the bill.

Roma have reportedly proposed a loan, but Atletico's price tag could complicate matters. Premier League clubs, most notably Fulham.

The London based outfit have reportedly already offered around €20 million for the Turkish international.

Fulham have made the biggest offer so far and Roma can't compete unless the deal falls through in which case they will try to loan Soyuncu.

Roma's hope hinges on Söyüncü's patience. Should the Premier League offers fail to materialize in the final days of the window, Atletico might become more open to a loan deal.

However, the lure of immediate playing time and potentially higher wages in England presents a formidable challenge.

Additionally, Soyuncu has experience playing in the Premier League as he joined Atleti from Leicester City.

The Spanish giants would stand to make a profit just six months after signing the Turkish international as a free agent.

Soyuncu meanwhile, wants playing time as he hopes to make the cut for the European Championships this summer.
