Superfluous to requirements?

Martinez is a fantastic under achiever at international football.

No. He is rotating players in friendlies from a big squad of 27, and releasing some of the ones that played the first game and therefore won't be involved in the second.

To be fair he also released Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes. This is more of an endorsement of Palhinha than an insult.

It will be interesting to see how they approach this game with in theory nothing to lose. They have to pick up points if they barring miracles due to points deductions have any chance of staying in the league. Looking at their stats they don't tend to create many chances and have conceded in every game this season including 5+ goals 5 times this season. I think Palhinha is going to be huge for us especially in dominating their forwards and quick distribution without sounding too Dad's Army, "they don't like it up 'em" and do seem to panic at the back. Their keepers are pretty poor for the Premiership in general but they are facing a lot more shots than most. We need quick distribution get in behind them and have a field day
