Fulham boss Mark Hughes has moved to distance himself from reports linking him with Niko Kranjcar.

It has been suggested that the Cottagers could look to lodge a late bid for the Tottenham midfielder in the January transfer window.

The Croatian playmaker is known to be growing frustrated with life on the sidelines at Spurs and would be open to taking on a new challenge.

Fulham were believed to be keen on offering him that opportunity, having seen their efforts to land Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips come to nothing.

Hughes, though, insists he is prepared to push on with the options already at his disposal and has no plans to make an approach for Kranjcar.

"We're not interested in Niko. We've got a lot of midfield players and he's not a priority for us," said the Welshman.

Unlikely

"We've expressed an interest in Shaun. It's slowed and I'm not too hopeful.

"We've tried to make it happen but for a number of reasons it seems to be less likely as the window closes."

Hughes has also admitted that Fulham are prepared to shelve their plans to bring Paul Konchesky back to the club, following an unhappy spell at Liverpool.

"There was interest and discussion was mooted, but that's not likely to progress in this window," he said.

"It's something we may revisit but it won't happen this month."
