Quote from: SerbianLad on February 01, 2026, 02:52:38 PMI still think we should have started with a back 5. Robinson and Castagne (in particular Robinson) have struggled, and our midfield looked superb at times offensively but got bypassed quite easily defensively(although Berge has done a good job). 5 atb would have solved both those things.

Don't get the Chukwueze and ESR criticism. I thought both were more effective than Wilson.

Ref has been terrible.

Not sure about back 5 but agree Chuk and ESR both doing well, Wilson quiet and we need Iwobi to pick him out in and around the box because he has minimal impact in the midfield areas.

Quote from: H4usuallysitting on February 01, 2026, 02:49:34 PMChukwueze is better playing on the right & cutting in, he's not covering Jedi at the moment

He's putting in some good crosses, something Jedi never really does well. But keeping that set up allows ESR to sit in that gap as he drops back, from there it's a matter of who comes to support him whether it be Raul (who drags Maguire with him) or Wilson/Iwobi.

Surely Man United shouldn't have had a free kick leading to the goal, if you're checking whether or not it's a penalty, you can't then give a free kick, i.e. the whole point of VAR. It's re-refereeing the game? It should be a goal kick...
Joe, Newton Abbot

I'm now officially confused! We are told that VAR can't intervene for fouls outside the box. There was clearly no foul inside the box as the defender got the ball! Therefore, the decision should have been a corner to Utd or am I missing something?

Surely we were all told that Var shouldn't have interfered in the incident when Muniz trod on the chelsucm players foot in the build up to Kings goal earlier in the season.
Not only was it not a foul but also VAR had no right to comment on it.

Same with today, the ref never gave the foul and its not VAR's place to change decisions on fouls.

But what the F does the average fan know!

We are very much in this game and with Kevin, King and Sess on the bench we have some good options

Very good point

Robinson and Chukwueze doesn't work, Chuk staying wide and putting crosses in, so Robinson not offering much going forward. Either bring on Kevin to go on the left or bring on Sess for AR.

Wilson fairly quiet but he often is before he pops up with a goal or assist.

SerbianLad

Also how has the Manchester United player got away with that brutal slide tackle on Raul? That should have been a yellow card, at least.

I don't understand why people try to understand VAR decisions. It's openly designed to help the bigger teams win more games... that's it.

It'll be a very interesting second half - if one of our player's has his shirt pulled

We beat Burnley with that combination.

Ha ha of course it will

FFN dropping the half time Pepi link.

Wish we would run with the ball into the penalty area and make the opposition have to make the challenge. We always seem to either try to find the perfect pass.

I see Fernandes' broken shoulder hasn't stopped him coming out for the 2nd half.

I'm just going by today's performance.

Pitch quality isn't great, our guys keep slipping over.

Milo

For Bruno Fernandez to play on with both a broken ankle and broken shoulder this game is nothing short of heroic.
