Newcastle has moved to target Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz: Report
Newcastle United have made an informal approach for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz as part of their ongoing search for attacking reinforcements.

According to Daily Mail's Craig Hope, intermediaries have initiated early conversations, and a £40 million fee has been floated.

Muniz, 23, scored nine Premier League goals for Fulham last season and is being monitored by several top-flight clubs, according to Hope. While Newcastle have yet to enter formal negotiations, the urgency to sign a new striker is obvious, given Alexander Isak's likely departure, and that should accelerate the process.

Newcastle lost 1–0 to a K-League All-Star XI in Suwon on Wednesday, marking the third straight preseason game in which Will Osula started up front and failed to score. Anthony Gordon later filled the No. 9 role as Eddie Howe's side again lacked a cutting edge.

In addition to Muniz, Newcastle remain in pursuit of RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Brentford's Yoane Wissa. However, insiders now believe Sesko is likely to join Manchester United while Brentford won't lower their valuation of Wissa, making a reasonable transfer quite hard to complete.

Because of those two situations, Newcastle might increase efforts to land Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, who remains on their shortlist along with Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, although those two might be too pricey to acquire.

'We won't do anything crazy' – Genk coach provides update on Fulham and Burnley-linked Arokodare
Racing Genk head coach Thorsten Fink has offered clarity on the future of striker Tolu Arokodare, amid ongoing transfer speculation linking the Nigerian forward with a potential move away from the club.

The Nigerian international, who finished as the Belgian league's top scorer last season, has been heavily linked with a move away from Belgium this summer.

Despite reported interest from top European clubs including Fulham and Burnley, Genk have yet to receive any concrete offers for the prolific striker.

Speaking ahead of Genk's upcoming league clash against Royal Antwerp, Fink addressed questions surrounding Tolu's availability and possible departure, suggesting the club will not stand in the way if a suitable offer arrives.

"This is a difficult time for coaches and players, who are still hoping to make a good transfer," Fink was quoted as saying by Het Belang van Limburg.

"But someone like Tolu remains available in the meantime. We're just not going to do anything crazy if a transfer is in the offing."

The ongoing transfer uncertainty has prompted Genk to explore alternatives to the Nigerian striker, with the club choosing to start South Korean forward Oh Hyeon-gyu, despite Tolu's availability.

Following last weekend's defeat to Club Brugge, head coach Thorsten Fink confirmed that the Nigerian striker will be available for selection in the upcoming clash against Royal Antwerp.

Fink added, with a smile: "If he's on the match sheet, you can assume there's nothing planned."

Ahead of the clash, the Nigerian striker will be hoping for a place in the starting lineup as he looks to help Genk bounce back from their defeat to Club Brugge and return to winning ways.

Mehdi Taremi is still expected to leave Inter Milan this summer, with Fulham and West Ham United among the clubs targeting him.

This according to today's print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi has been at the centre of a number of transfer rumours in recent weeks.

The 33-year-old had a very underwhelming first season at Inter. Therefore, there is a widespread feeling that he will be on his way after just one year at the club.

There have been plenty of clubs to show an interest in Taremi's signature. Fulham and West Ham United are reportedly keen to bring the former Porto striker to London.

Meanwhile, the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are also targeting Taremi from within the Premier League.

And Turkish giants Bestikas are also eyeing up a move.

In the meantime, Taremi has also turned down a move to Botafogo in Brazil.

Reportedly, the 33-year-old's priority is to remain in Europe.

Moreover, the Corriere reports, Taremi's future has nothing to do with Inter's pursuit of Ademola Lookman.

Fulham 2-3 Blades - report
United rounded off pre-season preparations with a victory against Premier League Fulham in a behind-closed-doors training match on Saturday.

The 120-minutes fixture, staged at Fulham's Motspur Park training centre, was the sixth and final warm-up encounter ahead of the new Sky Bet Championship season.

After victories over York City, Rotherham United, Burton Albion and Chesterfield, plus a narrow defeat at Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice, Rubén Sellés would have been delighted with elements of the victory over the Cottagers.

SMITH-ROWE put Fulham ahead on 16 minutes, but United levelled on 28 minutes through a CANNON penalty after Barry was fouled.

Fulham started the second half well and despite Davies making a couple of impressive saves, the home side edged in front again through a RAUL header on 51 minutes.

Brooks impressed and he was involved in the equaliser on 90 minutes. O'Hare was brought down ahead of Brooks slotting home the loose ball but, after an offside flag denied him, the officials brought play back for the foul on O'Hare, allowing BARRY to fire home the penalty.

The final 30 minutes were tight but the decisive moment arrived on 116 minutes when United's high press won back possession. Neat inter-play from One, Hamer and Brooks presented an opportunity for O'HARE to smash into the top corner.

Fulham 2-3 Sheffield United: Marco Silva's side undone by two penalties as Emile Smith Rowe on target
West Londoners have room for improvement with Premier League opener just a fortnight away

Fulham suffered their first loss of pre-season on Saturday as they were beaten 3-2 by Sheffield United in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Motspur Park.

Emile Smith Rowe and Raul Jimenez were on target for the Cottagers in the 120-minute match, but their efforts were cancelled out by a pair of Blades penalties and Callum O'Hare's extra-time winner.

Ryan Sessegnon, who enjoyed something of a career resurgence on return to his boyhood club last season, teed up Smith Rowe's opener, setting him up with a backheeled assist which was lashed into the top corner with 15 minutes played.

But the game was level at half time after Tom Cannon scored from the spot.

Jimenez reclaimed the lead for the west London outfit after the break, heading home from Andreas Pereira's corner to net his first goal of pre-season, before Louie Barry equalised for Ruben Selles' men from 12 yards.

O'Hare scored the only goal of extra time to secure the win for the Championship side.

The result will bring Fulham back down to earth after they came out on top in friendly meetings with Nottingham Forest and Al-Ittihad.

The Cottagers' discipline - or lack thereof - may be called into question after they gave away two penalties in the match.

They can be encouraged, though, by Smith Rowe's summer performances. He has found the back of the net twice in three pre-season appearances after struggling for form and fitness last year.

It has been a quiet window at Craven Cottage, with 34-year-old goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte arriving from Montpellier as the only signing of the summer so far.

Marco Silva had hoped for some transfer investment after an uninspiring 11th-place finish last season.

"Myself as a manager, and all the managers, they would prefer to have the squad almost complete in this stage of the pre-season," said the Portuguese last month, evidently frustrated by the club's lack of movement in the transfer window.

"I understand the fans, but what I can tell them is we are working hard, we haven't started in terms of signings. But we have a lot of business to do in this market."

Fulham have one more friendly booked in this summer - they will host Eintracht Frankfurt at home next weekend before travelling to Brighton and Hove Albion for their 2025-26 Premier League opener on August 16.

Fulham continue pre-season campaign with Sheffield United friendly
Fulham played Sheffield United in a 120-minute behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly at the Whites' Motspur Park training ground on Saturday. The visitors won the game 3-2.

Emile Smith Rowe gave the hosts the lead, following a smart back-heeled assist by Ryan Sessegnon.

The Blades levelled when Tom Cannon scored from the penalty spot.

Raul Jimenez then scored his first goal of this pre-season with a glancing header in the second half, with Andreas Pereira assisting from a corner.

Sheffield United levelled for a second time, once again from the penalty spot, with Louis Barry converting this time. Callum O'Hare scored their winner.

Fulham, who hit the woodwork three times during the game, will host Eintracht Frankfurt at Craven Cottage in a friendly next Saturday.
