Quote from: Willham on February 02, 2026, 06:46:34 PMVery unlike us to have no deals getting done at the last second.

We usually have 1 or 2 that gets done the day after the window, usually one that reporters didn't catch wind of.... so I'm hoping 🤞

Deadline day is the quietest I can remember, so not just us. I wonder what's behind that.

Was about to say the same, quietest last day I've known.

Ronaldo on strike in Saudi must want a last minute move to Fulham

General

Out lf interest, if we wanted Pepi so badly, why didn't we just do the deal and loan him back to PSV for remainder of the season, just so it was done and dusted and we didn't have to potentially start from scratch in the summer with an even shorter window and more useless than most transfer strategy?

Given this is our last chance to make a positive impression on Marco and Wilson before they make decisions re their future, feels like a bit of a clanger all round from the board and transfer team

Think AFCON beng in the middle of it hasnt helped a lot of players away for most of it holding up moves and be able to talk to players

bencher

Boring. Now, let's move on, up the Fulham, can't wait to see Bobb in the famous white and black.

Don't think that makes THAT much of a difference. There's a lot more players from S. America, Europe etc that weren't involved at all

AnOldBrownie

Still waiting for Palhinha or Anguissa to come on the pitch to shore up our midfield.

It'd be Fulhamish if the club puts out a surprise announcement an hour after the window closes saying they signed Pepi or Hayden or something.

Peter Mandleson has completed his move to the dump truck along with The Duke

You're assuming that this option wasn't explored. Usually happens when buying younger players not yet established then loaning them back.

Will there be the one that got away this window? Or does Pepi cover all those X's !

Quote from: Moussa Dembele the 3rd on February 02, 2026, 05:11:47 PMI personally am fine with where we're at until the summer. I think Bobb is the signing of the window, maybe in all of Europe. The team can't be that in dire need of replacements when we should probably be top 6 considering all the VAR nonsense. My only concern, and it is a real concern, is that this isn't good enough for Marco. And if Marco does leave at the end of the season, it will be considered a very bad window.

we said that last January and probably the January before that. 2 transfer windows each year - always feel underwhelmed as they close ... Not replacing Pereira is frankly inexcusable and as for Mitrovic replacement, doest look like it will ever happen ..

Think your find Raul was purchased to replace Mitrovic, or that was the intended plan.

Raul was meant to replace Vinicius. Once Mitro kicked off and left to the desert, we cancelled the loan we had lined up and kept him.

Champions League and Europa League now ending the group stage late in January also has an effect. Clubs can't alter their squads until after the group stage so they have to hold onto players until the end to have squad depth.

There is some added risk there if he picks up a major injury then we wouldn't really have any recourse on a player we just spent big money on. Assume the club didn't like that idea. Can do a pre agreement like Liverpool did with that French CB that requires a physical to be passed before completing I guess. PSV probably just willing to take their chances he blows up at the World Cup rather than that.

I don't think we're missing Pereira. We're well stocked in AM and he failed to convince in CM.

if you've seen this US team, there's little chance of Pepi blowing up this summer.

Angus Telford

Not sure where I stand on that anticlimax.

I agree the January market is never great and we should probably be surprised/grateful to have got a major piece of business done in Bobb. Raul will score 10 PL goals this year and we've lots of goals coming from other players right now. Similarly between Cairney, Lukic, Berge and Iwobi we should be able to put out a good CM pairing. We only have/had an outside chance of Europe so you can't blame the club for not throwing the kitchen sink at it in a difficult/ overpriced market.

History is what worries me. We now need to sign a CM and ST in the summer and do I trust TK/AM to do that in good, quick order rather than another late August shambles? Probably not. I agree with others the ST position has really been an issue since Mitro left which is laughable. On top of that the Pepi deal sounds like another example of us spending weeks chasing a deal that was never going to happen and/or haggling over a few hundred grand depending whom you believe, but either way it's a story we've heard too many times already.
