Quote from: demeant0r on January 20, 2026, 10:25:58 AMOh wow, never thought we could attract Oscar Bobb to join us! I'm guessing it does mean the end of Harry Wilson :(

35m is A LOT of money though, so I'd rather if Harry doesn't sign a new contract in the next week that we sell him for 10m or whatever to recoup some of the 35m.

Yeh for me it feels like a lined up move in case of Wilson refusing to sign yet, whilst his agent plays the market to up his wage

Having thought that, it could well be this has been leaked by the club as just a smoke screen to push Wilson to sign if he thinks we're serious about moving on from him? Who knows

We surely aren't spending another 35m for a player to sit behind Wilson and chuk though.

A year ago I'd rightly have said bobb is probably out of range and unlikely to want the move. Having not played so much this season though and seeing it's tough to break into man city's team ,much like ESRs timeline ,its probably the right time to seek a move for him.

It's a realisation that I think nwaneri will probably reach next window or the following also.

IMO, this makes sense as we're doing this before SCR comes into play. I would imagine signing him this window would mean we're offloading either Harry or Adama this window. Adama is on 70k a week and Harry is on 55k so it would make sense to offload Adama for the time being.

Yeh I agree Adama out makes the absolute most sense in terms of prospects this year. Then perhaps you hold on to Wilson until the summer with a wing line up of - Chuk, Wilson, Kevin and Bobb (or other) as main starters, with Sess/Iwobi also available. At which point you let Harry go on a free and look for a young option for the 4th wing spot on loan with an option in the summer. Dreamland would be Nwaneri in the summer. I think I'd blow up with excitment if we had Chuk, Kevin, Bobb AND Nwaneri. Unlikely but we can dream ha
I think I'd even let go of my annoyance at our habit of signing Arsenal's rejects if we got Nwaneri! Lewis Skelly wouldn't be a bad LB option either.

Quote from: Mullers OG on January 20, 2026, 12:05:42 PMYou may all be right and Wilson's contract decision depends on the salary terms but that's not necessarily correct. There may be family pressures to move; he may fancy playing in Italy or Spain whilst he still can; as a leading Welsh international he might want the chance to play in the champions league. Personally I hope he stays but it's his decision. He signed a contract which at the end of the season he's fulfilled.
Definitely the other key factor alongside salary, he'll be looking at UCL clubs for sure.

certainly plausible, seem to recall the rumblings of wage demands coming from someone with club links but memory could be failing me there. He has a young fam I think, so not sure if he'll want to move abroad at this stage but ya never know. Currently the clubs he's linked with, none stand a particularly bigger chance of europe than us though. Either way we'll know soon enough what the outcome is.

What does this mean for chuk? If anything at all, but we still have to fork out 26 mil for him at somepoint and we still haven't sorted out this CM position which I have been crying out about for a year.

I just wonder what this means for SCR which we are apparently very close to the limits

Presumably Raul and possibly also Leno are off at the end of the season, and they're our two highest earners I think?

Edit - Leno's contract runs until 2027, so looks like we'd only look to sell if SCR was that tight.

I've seen a lot of this player both at PNE on loan and for Ireland. He has footballing skills but, until recently, he never showed that 'natural' scoring touch. Is the current Troy blossoming- he's only 23- and showing the talent Spurs saw. Valued at £23 million.. I wouldn't be unhappy if we missed out on him. Romulo was being quoted close to these numbers. Yes he didn't want to come but there has to be better for this money

Ray Rock currently battling with having to leave his hourly comment that we're never signing someone vs the fact we're close to signing the one player he's always wanted.

Between Ray Rock and a hard place.

People are acting with Harry Wilson as if he's been awful until this season. Here's his goal involvements over the years:
21/22- 32 in 3592 minutes= goal or assist every 112 minutes
22/23- 8 in 1414 minutes = g/a every 177 minutes
23/24- 15 in 2039 minutes= g/a every 136 mins
24/25- 8 in 1323 minutes= g/a every 165 mins
25/26 to date- 13 in 1788 mins = g/a every 138 minutes

So, he actually performed better in 21/22 (albeit championship) and two seasons ago, statistically than this season.
Personally, as a player who doesn't rely on pace or physicality, I think he'll age well. I think we should do what we can to keep him and perhaps sell Traore for a few £m to help pay towards the wages!

Yeh for some reason I'm feeling cautious on this one, can't explain it as his stats are good in netherlands, but my gut screams that's an overspend on a player who's had had good G/A stats the last couple years in the Eeredivise but whom to my eye I'm unsure elevates us to European contenders. Could definitely be wrong but just something about the way he moves and plays makes me feel a bit, I dunno, like I'm looking at a good championship striker. Can't quite put my finger on it. If he joins I'd be open to being compeltely wrong on that. Just my first impression without having watched tons of him.

Worried it's one of those instances of buying an ok player off the back of a high profile international heroic moment.

Yeh I think Harrys been largely very good for us, think most are happy he's here albeit there have been periods in the prem (like most players) where he goes missing a bit before heating up again.  question is more if it's a choice between Oscar Bobb at 22 years old or wilson at soon to be 29 ,which would you take. I'd be suprised (happily so) if we kept both but seems unlikely to me unless Marco is solely planning to play Bobb or Chuk predominantly LW.

Would be sad to lose Diop. Such a great backup CB option. Deserves to start somewhere though.
Would rather wait till the summer if we are gonna sell him though and try and integrate Luc DF

I'd probably take Bobb if it was a business decision and Wilson if it wasn't.
I think we could accommodate the two but I also think players would need to leave too- Traore, Reed if another MF comes in because soon we'll not have enough space on the bench for them all.

Pure Sauce. sportwitness are dog s***, but hey, its silly season.

allegedly €25m enough to get Atta

That's a bit easier number for me considering I haven't seen anything outstanding from the matches I reviewed. I am not 100% if he will work for Marco's system of high defensive work rate, so it's possible he'd be a 10 for us in setting the early press, then being further up near the striker. He may benefit with space and pace of the PL though, not to mention anyone under Marco is in a good position to develop.

One off the list for now, Arsenal clearly didn't want to let him go without an option. And the player probably wants to prove himself and push his way into the team. One to keep an eye on given our seeming current penchant for picking up ex-academy players from the top clubs if they can't break into their first team.
