John Pantsil's Fulham future in the balance

FULHAM will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to offer John Pantsil a new deal.

The Ghanaian told the your favourite local paper this week that the club had not opened talks about extending his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

And boss Mark Hughes revealed he will run the risk of losing the former West Ham full-back by waiting until the summer before deciding on his futrue.

He said: "There are a number of players this year that are in the last year of their contracts and we're working our way through him.

"I've spoken to John on a number of occasions. He needs to play well between now and the end of the season and I'm sure we'll have the conversation then."

Good to hear. I like Hughes being up front and honest with the players.
Fulham for life!

"working our way through them" being the operative phrase.

I don't get the impression Sparky is the kind of manager that to hang on to players to be on the safe side. He has been fair to the likes of Pantsil, Kamara and EJ etc but he seems to have plenty of ideas of players to replace them with.

Sparky seems genuinely surprised and pleased with the quality of first team players he has inherited but he doesn't look like he wants to sit still and we will probably be looking at a very different squad come September.

Still got to prove himself hasn't he so why rush? Has been average this year. We do all love him though!
COYW!

If Sparky genuinely wanted him next season that would have been a very different conversation with a contract already in the offing.

IMO this is a position we do need to strengthen.

From what I hear he became inches from becoming a QPR player in the window... :046:
