Everything Alex Iwobi said after hitting Premier League milestone in Fulham's loss to Newcastle
Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi was left with bittersweet emotions following his side's 2-1 loss to Newcastle United at St. James Park yesterday, Soccernet.ng reports.

In a game that confirmed four consecutive losses for Marco Silva's side, it was also Iwobi's 300th Premier League appearance, and he's the only Nigerian to have hit such a milestone.

The 29-year-old played 89 minutes against the Magpies and was taken off with the game at 1-1, but a 90th-minute Bruno Guimarães effort meant Fulham left empty-handed, putting a dent on the midfielder's landmark.

Iwobi disappointed after Newcastle United loss
After the game, the ex-Fulham midfielder was crestfallen at his side's inability to hold onto a game, especially when they're away from Craven Cottage.

    "Of course, we're very disappointed," the 89-cap Super Eagle said in quotes revealed by Fulham's official website.

    "We knew it was going to be a hard game and a tough place to come to, but if we don't win, then we shouldn't lose, and maintain the draw.

    "Unfortunately, a last-minute winner is a dagger in the heart, but we have to pick ourselves up and go into next week's game.

    "Going into the second half, we had the bigger spark. Obviously, there were a lot of changes; there was a lot more dynamism going on down the flanks.

    "So, we were able to hurt them and create a few chances, but if we don't take our chances, good teams like Newcastle can punish us.

    "We were able to create chances against a great Newcastle side. We limited their chances as well, even though a couple of mistakes punished us.

    "As long as we stay consistent, give 100% and stay focused until 90-plus minutes, I'm sure we can get the results that we need to," Iwobi continued.

Quizzed about how he feels about hitting the 300 PL appearance milestone, the Hale End Academy graduate boasted there's still more to come.

    "It's amazing. It's a big achievement to lead that, with the likes of Shola Ameobi and even my uncle [Jay-Jay Okocha], that's participated in the Premier League.

    "It's an honour, but I'm not done yet, I'm going to keep on going and hopefully keep the record going," the one-time FA Cup winner concluded.

Up next for Iwobi and Fulham is the EFL Cup round four clash against Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park on Tuesday.

The official Fulham coaches will leave Craven Cottage and Motspur Park at 4.30pm.

BY CAR

On matchdays, there is significant traffic around Adams Park so drivers are advised to leave plenty of time to complete their journey. Adams Park is clearly signposted from the M40. Leave the M40 at Junction 4 and take the A4010 (John Hall Way, signposted Aylesbury). Cross over three small roundabouts into New Road continuing down the hill to two mini roundabouts at the bottom. Turn sharp left at the first into Lane End Road and continue to the next mini roundabout at which turn right into Hillbottom Road. Adams Park is situated at the very end of the road.

CAR PARKING

A limited number of car parking spaces are available at in the UpperOver parking complex at Adams Park or at nearby Millbrook School priced at £10. Tickets must be booked in advance via Wycombe Wanderers' official website and your vehicle must be parked at least an hour before kick off. You can also park in some of the industrial units along Hillbottom/Lane End Road for the same price. This might be a better option as the official car park gets very congested and there are usually serious delays in leaving after full time. There is some street parking available, but this is subject to restrictions on matchdays, and traffic wardens will be in operation.

BY RAIL

Supporters can reach High Wycombe station from London Marylebone. The ground is around 2.8 miles from the station and taxis are available from outside the station.

BY BUS

The best way to reach Adams Park from High Wycombe is via the Carousel football special bus service, which is priced at £5. You can check the timetable via the Carousel website and track the buses via the official bus company app. The Wycombe Wanderers website suggests that buses will leave Wycombe Railway Station at 18:30 and return from Adams Park at 22:15. The return journey from the ground will take place ten minutes after the final whistle, but can be very crowded.

AWAY PUBS

Many Fulham supporters will opt for the large away fans' marquee that will be open in the car park tomorrow night and there is a mobile catering unit, selling hot food, drinks and pies located nearby.

There are not many pubs located near the ground, due to it being on an industrial estate. The exception is The Hour Glass in Sands (144 Chapel Lane, High Wycombe HP12 4BY), which is about fifteen minutes walk from the ground, sells real ale and has previously welcomed away fans.

Your other best bets are located in Wycombe itself. The Falcon, a popular Wetherspoon's pub in the town centre, has catered for Fulham fans on a number of previous visits (9 Cornmarket, High Wycombe HP11 2AX).

The nearby O'Neills offers a big screen with the usual food and drink fare (Paul's Row, High Wycombe, HP11 2HQ), whilst The Flint Cottage (previously known as The Bootlegger, Amersham Hill, High Wycombe, HP13 6NQ) is a superb sports pub closer to the station.

Wolves summer transfer target attracting 'interest' from Newcastle United and Fulham
Wolves have the chance to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window

Wolves have made a slow start to the new Premier League season. They are in the drop zone and face a battle for survival. Vitor Pereira was appointed as their head coach during the last campaign as their replacement for Gary O'Neil.

The Midlands have the opportunity to strengthen their squad in January. They also have the chance to let some players leave this winter if needed. That would help free up space and funds in their ranks to pave the way for potential reinforcements.

Update regarding Wolves summer target Hayden Hackney
Wolves made a bid for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney in the summer, according to Football League World. However, they weren't able to lure him to Molineux in the end. He ended up staying put at the Riverside Stadium beyond the deadline.

In this latest update, TBR Football claim he is of 'interest' to Newcastle United and Fulham. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford are said to have watched him over recent times. His current club are expected to face a battle to retain his services amid attention from elsewhere.

Hackney, 23, is under contract at Middlesbrough until June 2027 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature. He has been on the books of the Championship side for his whole career to date. The Redcar-born man rose up through their academy before breaking into their first-team and he hasn't looked back since.

What now for Hayden Hackey at Middlesbrough?
Middlesbrough are eyeing promotion from the second tier under Rob Edwards. They turned to the ex-Watford and Luton Town man earlier this year to replace Michael Carrick. It remains to be seen at this stage how long they will be able to retain Hackney's services for.

Edwards had this to say about Hackney back in August: "We love him, the supporters love him, he loves the football club as well. He's a brilliant player and all our focus is on tomorrow's game [at home to Sheffield United,] and his focus is on tomorrow's game.

"He's a good player and there's going to be speculation on so many good players at this level from the league above, it's understandable. All you've got to do is look at his performance levels, they've been exceptional, and I think that tells you everything about him."

Hackney would be ideal for Wolves if they were able to snap him up down the line. He would inject quality into their midfield department. He is also still young and has potential to get better in the future.

There seems to be a lot of new teams in for him now though including Newcastle and Fulham meaning they would need to see off competition to get him. Pereira's men are back in action on Sunday afternoon against Burnley as they hunt for their first win of this term. They lost 2-0 away at Sunderland last time out.

Revealed: What Fulham must do to convince Marco Silva to sign new contract
Fulham have had a frustrating start to the Premier League season so far with concerns beginning to emerge both on and off the pitch.

Marco Silva's side lost 2-1 to Newcastle at St James' Park on 25 October, with a 90th-minute strike from Bruno Guimaraes depriving them of a hard-earned point.

As a result, the Cottagers have now won just one of their last five league games, and have dropped to 16th in the table with just two wins in their opening nine games.

Alongside their on-pitch concerns, however, they are also dealing with issues behind the scenes, with Silva's contract set to expire at the end of the season.

This comes after Silva was linked with the Nottingham Forest job, and Man United were interested in the Fulham boss, leading to uncertainty in West London.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, the boss is demanding the club match his ambitious plans for the future, and they must prove they are willing to back him if he is to sign a new contract.

This comes following a frustrating transfer window at Craven Cottage, which led to suggestions that Silva is not happy at Fulham due to their lack of ambition.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: "Yeah, no doubt he has been frustrated at the club's lack of activity in their transfer market.

"He felt they should have done more to strengthen the squad having had a really good season last time out. That will play a role in any negotiations over a new deal.

"Obviously, Fulham are very keen to extend Silva's contract. They don't want to see him walk away in the summer, because he will be a hard act to replace.

"They've finished 10th, 13th and 11th, and got a club record points tally last season, so he's continually making improvement and progress at Craven Cottage.

"Silva, as long as he is sort of reassured over Fulham's ambitions and that they can build on the success they've had so far, I'm sure he's happy at Fulham if the terms are right and he gets the right backing in the transfer market as well to build on things."

Football Insider revealed on 19 October that Silva's release clause is worth upwards of £10million, but if he leaves for free, they will miss out on a significant fee.

Fulham player hints money major factor in transfer choice – Loves life with Marco Silva's side
Fulham defender Kenny Tete has admitted he could have joined Ajax this summer. They, though, didn't want to pay him what Marco Silva's side could offer.

The full-back has been speaking to NOS in the Netherlands about a busy summer. He headed into the transfer window as a free agent, with his Fulham deal coming to an end.

They were keen to keep him, but the defender initially decided to assess the market before making a decision.

That saw him linked with several clubs. At one point it appeared he was close to signing for Everton. Former club Ajax were also credited with an interest. Tete is a product of their youth system, playing for them at every level before his Eredivisie debut in 2015.

He only went on to make 55 appearances for them in total before leaving for Lyon in 2017. He spent three years there before then joining Fulham.

He's now a key player at the club, and they were delighted to lock him down to a new deal in the summer after the doubts about his future. Tete is happy to stay but admits part of it was to do with money.

Fulham salary couldn't be matched
"I just extended my contract, so I'm doing really well. Yes, I'm happy," he said.

"It's not a very big club, more of a family club. A fantastic club in one of London's nicer neighbourhoods. We're a great club, and we've grown a lot over the years."

"Of course, I was a free agent. There was some inquiring. But not like, 'Bam, we want you,'" he added about interest from Ajax.

"Some things have changed at Ajax as well. Salaries have gone down; they only give large sums to the big players now.

"It was clear to me that I wanted to stay here. Of course, if Ajax came knocking... That's always special. You remain a fan. But I'm grateful that I can stay here. In terms of everything: London, the Premier League, a great team, a good coach. Those are things you have to appreciate before you go somewhere else. Otherwise, you might go to Ajax and be stuck in a rut.

"And ultimately, I also have to think about my retirement," says Tete with a grin. "I think they can afford me. It's not like I earn thirty million here, but it also depends on who they want to give the money to."

Newcastle United need more creativity and control in the middle of the park, and Hackney would be an excellent addition. The 23-year-old is young enough to improve further, and he could develop into a key player for Newcastle United.

The opportunity to join Newcastle United will be quite exciting for him. The Magpies have an ambitious project and they are competing in the UEFA Champions League. It remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace could use more control and creativity in the middle of the park as well. The Eagles have secured European football for this season, and they managed to win the FA Cup and the Community Shield recently. The South London club also have a quality manager at their disposal, and Hackney will be attracted to the idea of joining them as well.

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it remains to be seen whether they can sign the 23-year-old. The Red Devils need more depth in the middle of the park, and Hackney will be attracted to the idea of joining one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

Even though Manchester United are going through a period of rebuilding, they will be an attractive destination for most players. Meanwhile, Fulham are also keeping tabs on his development. It will be interesting to see which of the four clubs decide to follow up on their interest with an official proposal to get the deal done.

The 23-year-old has the quality to improve them, and they will hope to sign him for a reasonable amount of money. The opportunity to move to the Premier League from the EFL Championship is a huge step up, and the young midfielder will look to secure a big move quickly. It would be an excellent opportunity for him at this stage of his career.

Marco Silva to Nottingham Forest is still 'on the cards'
Nottingham Forest have endured a turbulent start to the season with Sean Dyche the latest to take the reins after replacing Ange Postecoglou.

Dyche's side won 2-0 against Porto in the Europa League as he got off to a winning start, and has already bettered Postecoglou's record at the City Ground.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Dyche is the perfect replacement for Postecoglou and will get Forest's form back on track.

However, after a 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, Forest remain 18th and in the relegation zone, and concerns are lingering.

Fulham are three points clear of Forest outside of the relegation zone, while huge wins for both Burnley and Leeds have extended their gaps to five and six points respectively.

Dyche must turn around their domestic form quickly to avoid the possibility of being cut adrift after what has been an awful start in the Premier League.

Wycombe Wanderers will be without the services of Josh Scowen and George Abbott for Tuesday's cup game due to ongoing injury issues.
