Marco Silva delivers Raul Jimenez injury update after Fulham avoid EFL Cup upset with penalty-shootout win
Fulham forward Raul Jimenez will have to be assessed after he was forced off in Tuesday's penalty-shootout win over Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Cup.

The Cottagers were forced to work hard to avoid an upset and secure their place in the EFL Cup quarter-final draw.

Josh King scored his first senior goal in the opening stages of the second half after former Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow had opened the scoring for the League One hosts.

With Fulham unable to find a winner, they had to negotiate a nervy penalty shootout to see off Michael Duff's charges.

Fulham's Benjamin Lecomte saved three spot kicks, while Wycombe's Will Norris made two stops before Issa Diop blasted home the winning penalty to send the Premier League side into the next round

Silva provides Jimenez injury update
While Marco Silva will be relieved with the final result, he will also be concerned about the physical status of Jimenez ahead of the upcoming Premier League home clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Mexico international was withdrawn with an apparent injury issue in the 74th minute, presenting youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare with the chance to make his second appearance since arriving on loan from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Silva was unable to provide any real detail on Jimenez's injury when he spoke to the media after the game.

"Raul felt something on the side," Silva said as quoted by journalist Jack Kelly. "Let's hope and see what happens."

There will be concern over Jimenez's condition, especially as he missed the defeat to Bournemouth earlier this month with a hip problem.

Silva desperate for key players to return
Silva is already dealing with a lengthy injury list, which features Joachim Andersen, Antonee Robinson, Harry Wilson, Samuel Chukwueze, Emile Smith Rowe and Rodrigo Muniz.

The Fulham boss has conceded that the team will continue to find life "difficult" on the pitch as long as they are having to work without a number of first-team regulars.

"We need players back, without that it is going to be more difficult and you're going to fight against this moment, for sure," Silva told reporters.

"We know how to do it, us, the fans, the football club. We have big battles ahead, and we have to be ready for it."

Fulham will be hoping to end a run of four consecutive Premier League defeats when they take on basement side Wolves at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Fulham Into Cup Quarter Final: But Doubts Persist
Wycombe 1–1 Fulham. Fulham through, just. Benjamin is the hero, Fulham got the job done, and got into the last eight of the League Cup quarter. That's all that matters, right?

Well, it was a good night, it's a massive win, but I'd suggest otherwise.

Flat In The Final Third, Out of Ideas, & Without An Identity Since March
Put the result aside, the fact that Fulham never really looked a cut above a side three points above the league one relegation tells you all you need to know about where this Marco Silva system is.

Silva's system is stale. The warning signs have been there since March. From February 26th onwards, Fulham are the second worst team that has continuously been in the Premier League — only West Ham are worse.

Recent form isn't a blip either. Fulham are winless in five. If alarm bells weren't ringing in the North-East, tonight's devoid display has taken the bells off silent and onto full blast ringer. You can blame last five games on tough fixtures, and injuries if you like — what do you have to say for that post March form?

With the exceptions of Brentford (home and away) and Liverpool (at home), Fulham look the same week after week — flat in the final third, out of ideas, and without an identity.

There is a distinct lack of quality in this Fulham team. That's not on Silva; that's on Tony Khan. Last January, it was clear Fulham needed a centre midfielder. This summer, it was clear Fulham needed a centre midfielder. What did Fulham miss today? You guessed it — a centre midfielder. If only we had a director of football dedicated to *solely* Fulham to fix these issues...

Time For a Tactical Revamp
Baring the shift from Championship to Premiership, Marco Silva's Fulham have seen barely any tactical change.

Continuously poor displays for more than six months leave the proof in the pudding — Marco's men need a tactical revamp.

Fulham need to get back to the football they played in those infamous first few months in the top flight: fast, direct, a transitional threat.

Perhaps Fulham need to gain a new perspective. We are side battling for our lives at the moment, humility of letting other sides take hold of possession may not be a bad thing at points — it allows the Whites to play to our transitional strengths.

Central Midfielder & a Striker a January Must
Silva will struggle to implement let that structural change without a direct, driven central midfielder next to Sasa Lukic. Fulham look devoid of any purpose in transition and unable to unlock low blocks — even a side 17th in League One.

Raul Jimenez injury will just add to Fulham's treatment table woes, but with or without the Mexican, Fulham lack of goal-getting presence compounds London's Original's lack of cutting edge.

A striker worth his weight in gold turns more of these half chances into goals. The fact that the Cottagers top scorer is still own goals 12 games into this seasonm should write 'striker' onto our winter shopping list alone. Our only hope is a Rodrigo Muniz purple patch — even so, is that really sustainable at the wrong end of the league?

Iwobi & King Must Start
Until Alex Iwobi came on, despite our heaps of possession, when Wycombe got the ball, they looked the more dangerous side. The Nigerian changed the game from the middle of the park, again. Iwobi is the bandage over the gaping wound that is our central creative crisis.

Today showed that our way through midfield monotony is via Iwobi and Josh King. Marco has to get them both in the same team. Josh King was uncle not to bag a winner, after his first Fulham senior goal just after the break. King's sumptious swivel to beat Connor Taylor deserved a quarter final clinching strike. Josh has that dynamism we are crying out for, he's now got the goal contribution he so deserves, Josh is set to run riot.

King and Iwobi have to get into this Fulham team. A midfield three of King, Iwobi, and Lukic is a must.

Lecomte The Hero: Fulham's Best Signing to Date, That's Worrying
If Fulham, by some miracle, win the League Cup, Benjamin Lecomte's name will go down into Fulham folklore. Some of the Frenchman's saves? Right out the top draw. But the fact that It's October 28th and Benjamin Lecomte is Fulham's most successful summer signing to date says something about our summer business.

If Fulham beat Wolves, maybe you can take a breather, but these issues are long standing. Squeezing past Wycombe and ,bottom of the table, Wolves won't put my worries to rest.

But hey — get the Lecomte statue at the ready, the cup dreams live on. If it means we win the cup, we can go winless in the league for the rest of the season in my book.

Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match Result: Wycombe
Benjamin Lecomte has been voted Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Match after his penalty shooutout heroics against Wycombe.

Fulham created many chances against their League One opponents after Cauley Woodrow's early strike saw them fall behind, but had to settle for a shootout with the score level at 1-1.

And that gave Lecomte - who has played in every Carabao Cup game this season - the chance to make his mark, standing strong to bat away three of the Chairboys' spot-kicks.

Speaking post-match, the 34-year-old said: "We did a great job with all the goalkeepers' team. When you win a penalty shootout as a goalkeeper, it's always nice. But I have to congratulate the whole team, because it wasn't an easy game, and we did the job tonight.

"It's a really nice feeling for me, and also for the team, because I think this can help us to have a positive feeling for the next game."

Benjamin was a popular winner with 59.86%, while Josh King's first senior goal was enough to secure him second place (25.95%), with Kevin coming third (5.54%).

"Never a closed book" – Fulham star "always open" to opportunity if it comes around
Fulham star Kenny Tete has admitted he's not giving up on the Netherlands, despite not being in the picture right now.

Voetbal Primeur have comments from the Fulham man today. He's been speaking to them throughout the week about various subjects. One of those brought up was a potential return to the Netherlands squad.

The 30-year-old has 14 appearances for his country after making his debut aged 20 under Danny Blind in 2015. He hasn't made an appearance for the Netherlands since 2021, though. That was 69 minutes in a 4-2 defeat to Turkey.

He's not been back since, despite establishing himself as key player for Fulham after joining them in 2020. He does not appear to be in Ronald Koeman's plans for the time being either.

The Netherlands manager has plenty of options in defence as it is, with Denzel Dumfries the undisputed starter at right-back under him. Indeed, his numerous options in defence have even seen the likes of Micky van de Ven used as a left-back, despite being a centre-back at club level.

The Fulham man is leaving the door open, though, and insists he's always open to returning.

"It's never a closed book," he said.

"I'm a proud Dutchman, and everyone wants to play for their country. I would always be open to that."

Assistant referee in Wycombe Fulham game with with missile
A criminal investigation has opened after the assistant referee was hit with a missile in Wycombe Wanderers' League Cup clash against Fulham.

 The fourth round fixture, which took place at Adams Park on October 28, saw the Chairboys take the lead on four minutes thanks to a brilliant Cauley Woodrow strike, before Josh King equalised two minutes into the second half.

Following the 1-1 draw, the tie went to penalties, which the Premier League side won 5-4, after it went to sudden death.

 However, at full-time, a supporter in the terrace threw end threw an item which hit one of the assistant referees.

The club have since released a statement which reads: "Wycombe Wanderers are disappointed to report that a missile was thrown from the terrace, striking an assistant referee, following the conclusion of tonight's Carabao Cup tie.

"The club strongly condemns this behaviour and is working to identify the individual responsible."

Thames Valley Police added: "Officers are conducting a thorough investigation following this incident and ask anyone with information to please contact the force on 101 or by reporting online, quoting reference number 43250552095."

Fulham rival West Ham United in Endrick chase, player ponders AC Milan loan switch
Fulham have joined West Ham in the race for Endrick ahead of the January window, with the player thinking about a switch to AC Milan.

According to Milan Live, Endrick has continued to attract the attention of multiple clubs, with Fulham the latest to join in the race. West Ham United are also keen to sign the Real Madrid whizkid, who is reportedly pondering a loan switch to AC Milan if an opportunity arises.

Endrick's future at Real Madrid is up in the air following an indifferent start to the new season. Following the exit of Carlo Ancelotti in the summer, under whom the young Brazilian attacker played considerable minutes last season, has yet to play a single minute under the new boss, Xabi Alonso.

With a place in the World Cup squad at risk, Endrick needs to play regularly between now and the tournament next summer. Hence, he's already thinking about a new challenge, with Real Madrid only reportedly open to a La Liga loan, as they do not want a sale of the 19-year-old.

The young attacker has a big interest from the Premier League, with the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United among those interested. Fulham are the latest to enter the race to sign the 19-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid, as Marco Silva eyes a new striker to add to his forward line ahead of the second half of the season.

The Cottagers are set to fight it out with West Ham United for the 19-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid's signature, with the Hammers already holding discussions over a move. There are elements such as a guarantee of minutes ahead of any potential switch in January, and whoever offers that probably gets a priority in the race for Endrick.

Endrick pondering AC Milan switch
The biggest threat to Fulham or West Ham could come from AC Milan, who are experiencing an indifferent start to the season. While the Rossoneri have performed well under Massimiliano Allegri, their strikers, Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku, have underperformed so far, which has seen talk of a new striker accelerate over the last few weeks.

Endrick would be open to the idea, and he is already pondering a loan switch to AC Milan, which could be a blow for some of his Premier League suitors. Overall, the 19-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid could be a prized target for many of the teams looking to add to their strike force, as he's destined to leave the Santiago Bernabeu on loan in the winter window.

Newcastle trip in Carabao Cup
Fulham will travel to Newcastle United in the Quarter-Finals of the Carabao Cup.

Marco Silva's side secured their passage to the final eight with a penalty shootout victory at Wycombe Wanderers, while Newcastle defeated Tottenham.

The tie will take place on the week commencing 15th December.

Newcastle get Fulham! – Full Carabao Cup quarter-final draw and dates
The draw for the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup has been made.

After Newcastle saw off Spurs 2-0 on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Fabian Schar and Nick Woltemade, we've set up a St James' Park date with Fulham in the last eight.

The game will take place on the week commencing 15th December, falling between our trip to Sunderland (14th December) and home clash with Chelsea on Saturday 20th.

Elsewhere tonight, Chelsea won 4-3 at Wolves, Crystal Palace beat a weakened Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield, Man City won 3-1 at Swansea and Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 at the Emirates.
