Only options are Leno or Wilson. Our defence was such a mess that I voted for Leno.

Somerset Fulham

Hit the 20 point mark with four games to spare, currently above apparently superior sides to us such as Bournemouth and Brentford, and only three behind The Mighty Brighton.

Was a bit of a bonkers game and we should have sewn it up but for some defensive disasters, but all in all that will do.

Holders

It has to be Leno but honourable mention to Wilson.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most...

I think it's interesting how Chukwueze is probably the player we're going to miss the most out of the 3 Nigerian players(imo), considering the fact that Bassey was our POTS, Iwobi has been one of the first names on the team sheet since he got here and Chukwueze just got here.

I always thought we looked best when we had one dynamic winger in the team (whether that was Kebano in the Championship, Willian later, Adama in his good games or now Chukwueze). Hopefully Kevin can step up while Chukwueze is away, as I think we'll need him to.

It's " them fine margins" for me between Leno and Wilson . In the end Wilson  gets it for me. Great performance from ESR as well

Just got back from the game. Don't get why theres so much negativity about the win. Many posters were baying for silvas blood at the prospect of anything but a win today in the 'would you take a point' thread. Perhaps it's disappointment?

To me these are the good times following Fulham. Just don't get it to be honest

Are you telling me you're satisfied with this defensive performance against the (before today) third worst attack in the league?

I am satisfied enough with an entertaining away win at a ground we never win at (while getting one over our ex manager in the process) to put us closer to the champions league places than the relegation zone prior to our cup quarter final on Wednesday.

We also have the 8th best attack in the league now btw

Wilson was excellent but I lost count of the times Leno kept us in the game after the guys in front of him f....d up. So yeah, Leno who has come in for criticism lately was my MOM.

Leno good but isn't his performance tonight what you pay him a small fortune to do as routine?
ESR also good.

The likes of Bassey, Berge and Anderson were poor today but they did have several good moments in the game.

Tete somehow got caught up in the general apathy but Iwobi's performance sucked and in his position I believe he affected the team negatively more than anyone else.

Surely Wilson is also paid very well to score goals and make assists? Barely a *** paper between them last night but went for Leno, a number of 1 on 1's and that save down to his right hand post was excellent.

Hoping the defence can tighten up, Robinson and Bassey struggling on that left side for cohesion tonight.

Still let's celebrate our first win there since 1951 🥳

Our winning goal in 1951 was well offside as I recall. No VAR back then.
There was no offside back then!

It was introduced in 1863 and required 3 not 2 players ahead of the ball. I never liked it then and I don't like it now.
If so, I apologise- I thought it was introduced much later!
Not sure how sniffer got away with so many goals!?
It's because he's the greatest.

Are you Parker in disguise?

Just took a look at the other thread and did a quick count. I made it three posts. I think the description for this is not 'many' but 'a few'. The disappointment expressed in this thread is directed towards aspects of the performance - not the result. It would be foolish, in my opinion, to conclude that, as the outcome tonight was a favourable one, there is nothing the team can or should try to do better in our next game.

Winning a game 2-3 away is surely the result of the change in the midfield to drop a defensive midfielder in Lukic and replace him with an attack minded midfielder in Iwobi. Everyone was clamouring for this change as our attack was utterly stale. Inevitably, the result was a more forward thinking style which leaves holes in the middle and asks our defence to get through more difficult work.

It was a stressful albeit somewhat entertaining watch. The defence looked all at sea at times but they may still be adjusting to the shape of the midfield.

ESR, Chuk and Wilson all big positives.

Jimenez is putting in obvious effort but looking way off the level required and that is a big concern.

Bill2

Has to be Harry two assists and a cracking goal. Need to sort his contract out as his performances of late is my on doubt drawing attention

We did win. Like last week plenty of times we have played well against good sides and ended with nothing.  If Robinson had have scored Harry would have been involved in 4 goals. Leno was top drawer, ESR is getting better week on week, Berg was very efficient and Chuck very often caused havoc. A word for Jimenez as he never stopped working, always tackling back.

Harry for me then Leno.

I did enjoy ending that hoodoo. A bit of revenge for being robbed rotten back in the 1962 FA Cup semi at Villa Park.

Thank you and good night.  ::scarf::

Aside from Wilson and Leno (both excellent), also wanted to mention I thought Berge looked good against his old club - especially the sublime ball he threaded to put Wilson in on the GK that was (only just) blocked by the defender tracking back at the very last minute.

Shows Berge does have that in his locker but needs to do it much more often - that incisiveness will be much needed when Iwobi's off.

Shame to lose the AFCON guys for so long but small silver lining is looking forward to seeing Cuenca and Kevin get some regular starts to show what they can do.

I have never got over that day. At 1-1 Mo Cook clean through near the end, flattened by their keeper Adam Blacklaw, no penalty given. The stupid ref went in our dressing room after and apologised for not giving us a penalty. I bet that went down well. GRR
