Memories of 'that match'....Fulham 4-1 Juventus at the Cottage back in 2010

Hi All,

Just a friendly reminder to FOF members to send me your memories/recollections of the famous Fulham 4-1 Juventus Europa League last 16, second leg tie at the Cottage back in 2010, March 18th. Yes, the one where Italy's World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro was sent off and Clint Dempsey scored that incredible goal in the 82nd minute thus winning the match, which also saw another Juventus player red carded right at the end!

There is a rumour going around from some supporters that they could feel the Johnny Haynes stand move when Clint scored that goal. Anyone also care to comment on that??

I am writing a book on the game which includes Fulham's remarkable journey all the way to the final. It would be great to hear from as many Fulham fans as possible so that I can put your recollections into the book, which will be published by Amazon, and on sale next March, 2026.

Just post your memories on the FOF site and I will take it from there.

Many thanks!

I was in the Hammersmith end pretty close to where Zebina kicked Duff and got sent off near the end. Will never forget the collective sense of elation and the laughter, because that was essentially the moment we knew they'd gone to pieces.

Zebina swore at the Juve fans who were in the JH. He had to walk past them as they threw insults his way. He even commented on it after the match! Great times.

Crabtree was buzzing after the game. I think after Hamburg at home maybe the only time I saw it better.

Willham

I was a young man, 15ish, walking in the town centre of hull. I was having a date with a lady. I had nearly canceled because it was the fulham game but guessing we didnt have much chance I went.

Well,

I walked past a pub with the game on as we scored the second and I literally said goodbye to her on the spot and ran all the way home.

I was at a conference near Dorking, got stuck in traffic was late for kick off as rushed through Bishops Park. I heard a roar and thought we had scored, got into the ground and saw we were 1-0 down and thought why did I bother ::scarf::

Could you also give me a town/city location or part of London as to where you live.

Did you manage to see Clint's winner live??

Are you from Hull and do you still live in Hull? If not, could you please tell me the location....town/city or what part of London.

At the time I was renting round Queens Club Gardens. Used to walk down to every game.

Fulham 442

I have posted on here before about this match, my best Fulham game ever.  I was in the Hammersmith End and my son arrived late, just after Juventus scored, which made us 4 1 down on aggregate.  I said it's not looking good and my son said "We're going to win Mum, you can feel it in the air".  How right he was,the atmosphere was absolutely superb and I think the support we gave the team that night was invaluable.  Clint's winner was stunning, the way the ball seemed to hang in the air before hitting the back of the net right in front of us.  What a night!

Ironically, I put my son's season ticket seat on ticket exchange as none of our friends or family could make it. It was purchased by a man from Turin, a Juve fan. 1 I tactfully did not mention THE game and 2 I think he now has a premier league team to support. He loved, the atmosphere etc as I explained the chanting. He particularly liked, "Your gonna cry in a minute!" Despite not being a great Fulham performance, I think we won him over. I also understand the "tourist" element to ticket sales but in this case, no Fulham fan stepped up to the plate and the Fulham gospel has been spread a little.COYW.

I was born in Fulham and lived there as a child.  I now live in Southern Spain but still come over for a couple of games a season.
