Former Liverpool winger continued his amazing form with late winner in west London derby

Marco Silva has urged Fulham fans to enjoy a period of Harry Wilson's career when "everything he touches turns to magic".

The Welsh international is in the form of his life right now and scored a late winner against rivals Chelsea in Wednesday night's west London derby at Craven Cottage.

After just one goal in his first eight Premier League games of the season, Wilson has now scored six and assisted four in his last 12 appearances.

The 28-year-old has gone from impact substitute to talismanic goalscorer at Fulham in that time, and only Erling Haaland has more goal contributions than the former Liverpool man since the start of November.

Reflecting on Wilson's rise after a 2-1 win over 10-man Chelsea, Fulham head coach Silva said: "He's been very good. Right now, everything that he touches turns to something magic.

"Fans should just try to enjoy it. In pre-season we had some conversations. I was feeling that [he could be] more calm and [do] better decision-making in some moments.

"The numbers are top. It's the best moment of his career, definitely. He's enjoying it, but at the same time he's working very hard.

"The numbers are incredible, but it's not just about the numbers. This season he's been incredible. He's humble, and a hard-worker always."

If Tottenham Hotspur declines to exercise its purchase option on Bayern Munich loanee João Palhinha, there could be another club willing to take on the Portuguese defensive midfielder — Fulham FC:

    Fulham would consider a move for Joao Palhinha if Tottenham do not take up their option to sign him. There is not yet clarification on his situation but in recent weeks sources have become less convinced that Spurs trigger the option to take him on a permanent deal, which is worth €30m / £26m.

    Fulham will keep an eye on the situation in case there is a possibility to lure him back to Craven Cottage in the summer. Palhinha showed ambition when he left Fulham for the Bundesliga but his move did not go to plan and he is still not hitting the levels at Tottenham that he once showed in west London.

    It is unclear at this stage how he would view the idea of going back to his old club, but if Marco Silva remains as boss it is something that could be progressed.

Bayern Munich appears to have no use for Palhinha, who the club has never really had a plan on how he would fit. Now, the Bavarians just need a partner to work with and Fulham — as unlikely as it seems — could be willing to bring him back.

Fulham submit "strong offer" to sign Sergi Altimira from Real Betis
Fulham will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Sergi Altimira from Real Betis in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by AS, as relayed by Sport Witness, Sergi Altimira remains the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Real Betis midfield prospect has emerged as a target for the West London club.

The latest report has revealed that the Cottagers have submitted a "strong offer" to secure the Spaniard's services in the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, Real Betis will demand around €20 million to part ways with Altimira, with the Andalusian outfit ready to sell him this month.

How has Sergi Altimira fared at Real Betis?
Sergi Altimira has established himself as one of the most promising young midfield prospects in La Liga since joining Real Betis from Getafe in August 2023. A native of Cardedeu, the 24-year-old spent his formative years in Spain and graduated from the youth division at CE Sabadell. The Spanish midfielder made considerable progress in the last 30 months, becoming a mainstay in the middle of the park for Real Betis.

Altimira has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for Los Verdiblancos while chipping in with five goals and three assists. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known outfits. Premier League clubs, in particular, have been keen on signing the Real Betis midfielder, with Fulham among the prospective suitors for his signature in the winter transfer window.

London calling?
Fulham's interest in Sergi Altimira is somewhat surprising. Marco Silva has a solid midfield unit in his squad, with Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic forging a solid partnership in the middle of the park. However, the Fulham manager wants more firepower in the centre of the pitch.

Several candidates, including Arthur Atta, have thus emerged on Fulham's wishlist, with Altimira also a viable target. The latest report has revealed that they have made a "strong offer" to sign the Spaniard from Real Betis in the winter transfer window.

"Take them all the way": Fulham vs Middlesbrough FA Cup predictions
Fulham host Middlesbrough at Craven Cottage in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Fulham will be hoping to move their strong Premier League form into the FA Cup as they host championship side Middlesbrough in the third round of the competition. The Cottagers currently sit 11th having made it six games unbeaten on Wednesday night.

Marco Silva's side battled back twice at home to Liverpool to salvage a 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Saturday before a 2-1 win over 10-man Chelsea in midweek. Harry Wilson continued his fine form with the decisive goal.

Fulham exited last season's FA Cup at the quarter-final stage. They lost 3-0 to eventual winners Crystal Palace and will be eyeing a similarly impressive foray into the competition once again.

As for Middlesbrough, they are back in the Championship's top two after a 4-0 thrashing of Southampton at the Riverside last weekend. That victory ended a run of four games without victory for Kim Hellberg's side.

The Teessiders have been impressive since Hellberg took over from the departing Rob Edwards. Since the Swede stepped into the dugout, Boro have won five, drawn one and lost four of his 10 games in charge.

Middlesbrough will hope to make a mark in the FA Cup for the first time in almost five years. Boro haven't gotten past the third round stage of the competition since they exited to Chelsea in the 2021/22 season.

Ex-PGMOL Chief Says Officials Got Major Decision Wrong in Fulham 2-1 Chelsea
Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett believes that officials got a major decision wrong in Fulham's match against Chelsea, as the Cottagers beat their west London rivals 2-1 to pick up three important Premier League points.

Although the visitors made a bright start, their evening was flung into chaos when Marc Cucurella pulled Harry Wilson back with the attacker through on goal. Referee Peter Bankes had little choice but to send the Spaniard off, earning Chelsea a fifth red card in league matches this season.

Although the Blues held on to a 0-0 draw before half-time, they were pegged back when Raul Jimenez headed home Fulham's first of the night. And while Liam Delap was on hand to grab an equaliser, their joy was short-lived, as the in-form Wilson buried a late winner in the 81st minute.

Hackett: Referee Made Error in Fulham 2-1 Chelsea
The decision to send Cucurella off sparked fury among the Chelsea players, with three yellow cards shown in quick succession due to protests. Yet there was little outcry from pundits and fans, who agreed with Bankes' verdict.

Clarifying the decision online, the Premier League's Match Centre wrote: "The referee's call of free-kick to Fulham and a red card to Cucurella for denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO) was checked and confirmed by VAR - with it deemed that Cucurella committed a holding offence that did not continue into the penalty area."

However, it's the last part of their statement which Hackett takes issue with. Speaking to Football Insider, the former FIFA referee believes that Cucurella continued to hold Wilson as he ran into the box, which is where he eventually went down. Mike Dean has stated that a penalty and red card should have been shown, and Hackett ultimately agrees with that assessment.

"Mike Dean is spot on with his conclusion on this one," he said. "Under Law 12 – Advantage, the final paragraph gives us the answer."

According to IFAB, Law 12 states: "If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues holding inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick."

Hackett continued to express his disagreement with the call, adding: "I worry about the law knowledge of our officials. This incident is covered in law and a penalty kick should be awarded.

"Well said Mike Dean, who should be coaching our referees along with Mark Halsey."

Cucurella Set to Miss FA Cup Tie
A red card for Cucurella not only hurt Chelsea on the night, but could also be an issue for the Blues this weekend. They are set to face Charlton in the third round of the FA Cup, with suspensions carrying over into the competition.

Saturday's game will mark the first time Liam Rosenior will take charge of his new side since taking over as Chelsea manager from Enzo Maresca. While he was in attendance for Wednesday night's defeat to Fulham, he allowed Under-21s manager Calum McFarlane to lead the senior side once again.

Elaborating on his decision not to take charge against Fulham, the former Strasbourg boss told Sky Sports: "Just travel. But mainly the fact that Calum did such an incredible job against Man City.

"The performance of the players, especially in the second half, the energy, the intensity, the quality that they played with. They've supported the lads in a really difficult moment in a really good way.

"I flew over from Strasbourg yesterday morning. It's a difficult timeframe for me to get in the tactical work that I need to get into to give the lads the best chance to win."

Offer for Wolves player rejected – Attention turned to Fulham alternative
According to a claim in the Turkish media, Beşiktaş are showing interest in Fulham defender Issa Diop.

The Black Eagles are in the market for a central defender and had been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers' Emmanuel Agbadou.

We recently covered reports they'd tabled an offer for Agbadou, which was rejected by Wolves. At the time it was reported Beşiktaş were looking to loan the 28-year-old, with an option to purchase.

Fanatik today report on developments regarding Beşiktaş pursuit for a Gabriel Paulista replacement. The former Arsenal player recently left the Istanbul side after mutually terminating his contract. At 35-years-of-age, the defender wants to return to Brazil.

After their failed attempt to sign Agbadou, it now seems the Super Lig side have turned their attention to the 28-year-old Fulham player.

Beşiktaş have asked for information with regards to the salary and transfer fee of the Frenchman. The Turkish media outlet says the final decision will come down to their manager Sergen Yalçın, but competition is expected from Nantes and AS Monaco.

Diop has made just eight appearances this season and is contracted to Fulham until June 2027. He's been hit by multiple injury issues, but had been thrown back in by Marco Silva.

Agbadou is also a regular when available for Wolves, and therefore Beşiktaş could face similar problems with both.

With Yves Bissouma having no future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Lilywhites have been keen on signing a holding midfielder. So, Palhinha was a viable target for the North London outfit. However, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners have second thoughts about a deal.

As for Fulham, the West London outfit mulled over a summer move for the Bayern Munich flop, but it did not materialise. The continued interest is understandable, as Marco Silva wants more options in the middle of the park. Can Fulham keep hold of 'incredible' Wilson?
Harry Wilson is being mentioned in the same breath as Erling Haaland on the back of his spectacular form at Fulham.

Yet as things stand, the Wales forward will be available on a free transfer in five months' time.

Wilson told BBC Sport Wales last June that he was in talks over a new long-term deal at Craven Cottage.

As yet, nothing has been signed.

Given Wilson's contribution so far this season, Fulham may be regretting the fact that a new agreement was not sorted some time ago, for the 28-year-old's stock is rising by the week.

'He is going to have the pick of clubs'
Wilson played a starring role as Fulham beat Chelsea on Wednesday, when his run in behind led to Marc Cucurella's first-half red card.

He saw a goal ruled out by VAR, for Raul Jimenez being offside, before scoring the Cottagers' winner nine minutes from time.

That was his seventh Premier League goal this season while he has also managed four assists, meaning this is already the most successful top-flight campaign of his career in terms of those numbers.

Of this season's goal involvements, 10 have come since the beginning of November. Only Manchester City striker Haaland, with 12, has managed more in the Premier League during that period.

Wilson's contribution led Danny Murphy to declare that he is "running out of superlatives for him" on BBC Match of the Day.

"He is so intelligent. He doesn't rely on his physicality and pace as his movement is brilliant. In front of goal, he is so reliable and technically is such a good player," the former Fulham and England midfielder added.

"His levels at the moment are ridiculously high and if he maintains that then he is going to have the pick of clubs because he is out of contract at the end of the season."

Signed from Liverpool in 2021 on an initial four-year deal, Wilson is in his fifth season at Fulham after the London club took up an option to extend the contract by a year last summer.

"We are in talks for a new deal," Wilson said at the time.

"The option was just in case a deal doesn't get done. My main option would be to sign a new [longer] deal at Fulham and hopefully we can get to an agreement on that."

For a time it seemed Wilson may bid farewell to Fulham early this season, with Leeds United making a move for the Wrexham-born player prior to the transfer deadline on 1 September.

Fulham boss Marco Silva insists he never wanted to lose Wilson despite Leeds' interest.

"If you remember my first press conference after the summer window, you asked me about the Leeds offer," Silva said after the Chelsea win.

"I told you straight away, I didn't think one second about that. He is our player and he is so important for us."

'The best moment of his career, definitely'
Wilson's most prolific season – to date – in Fulham colours was his first, when he scored 11 goals for a side who won the Championship title.

Since then, he has always been in the first-team picture but has not played as consistently as he might have liked.

In the three league campaigns before this one, he made a total of 89 top-flight appearances, but only 41 starts.

This season has been a different story, with Wilson featuring in 20 of Fulham's 21 league games and starting 18 of them.

He scored twice in the first three months of the campaign, but his impact has grown since a hat-trick for Wales in the remarkable 7-1 win over North Macedonia in mid-November.

Wilson has long been considered a key man for Wales, particularly since Gareth Bale's retirement three years ago, but now has similar status at Fulham.

"It is the best moment of his career, definitely," Silva added.

"The numbers are top - incredible. I have to say that even in the last three seasons, not playing the same number of minutes, the numbers were always decent. [But] this season they have been much better.

"Right now everything that he touches becomes something magic and something that is going to have an impact. His season has been incredible and I am very pleased for him because he deserves it."

Silva says there is "no news" for the moment on Wilson's contract negotiations and that Fulham "should enjoy him right now".

Leeds continue to be linked with Wilson, yet his form will surely be turning heads in recruitment departments at a string of clubs even though he turns 29 in March.

It could be that Wilson is one of the most attractive free agents on the market come the end of the season.

Silva, however, remains hopeful that his player's future lies with Fulham.

"He is a great lad, he loves the football club, his family are very happy here where they are living," the Portuguese said.

"Of course the club should do what they can do to renew the contract with him."

All in the laces?
Wilson's goal against Chelsea was, somewhat surprisingly, the first scored with his right foot throughout his Premier League career, which also includes 31 appearances at Bournemouth in 2019-20.

There were a couple of memorable headers last season, but Wilson is best known for finding the target with his left foot - and often in spectacular fashion.

Yet for all his obvious technical quality, Wilson has suggested his current run of success in front of goal is also down to a pair of laces which do not match.

"A couple of months ago I went into a tackle and my laces split and the kitman at half-time only had one pair of laces left," Wilson explained after the Chelsea win.

"I think that was when my good run started, so I feel like I can't change now.

"The lace in my right boot is a little bit longer than the one in my left.

"I feel like when you get into a moment when you're in good form, you're scoring, you're assisting the team, doing well, I like to keep everything the same, so that's what I'm going to do."

Ipswich Town make approach over deal for Fulham legend
Ipswich Town have approached Fulham over a possible deal for club captain Tom Cairney, according to Sky Sports.

Ipswich Town have recovered well from a poor start to put themselves in the thick of the Championship automatic promotion race. ITFC dropped to 3rd last weekend as Middlesbrough won while their Portsmouth tie was postponed.

Nonetheless, it has been a fine few months at Portman Road. Confidence is high within the Tractor Boys squad, and a couple of smart signings in the January transfer window could prove crucial in the push for a Premier League return.

Now, it has been reported that one player on the radar is Fulham midfielder and club captain Tom Cairney. Sky Sports reports that Ipswich Town have made an approach over a potential deal for his services.

The 34-year-old is out of contract at Craven Cottage at the end of this season. He has started the last two games against Liverpool and Chelsea, playing a little over 70 minutes in both.

Could Ipswich Town tempt Tom Cairney away from Fulham?

Ipswich Town are an attractive club at present – they're in the thick of a Championship promotion push, but in the bigger picture, they have a top manager in Kieran McKenna and big ambitions for the future.

For someone like Cairney – out of contract and approaching his 35th birthday – they could be a really good destination.

However, Cairney is a modern-day legend at Fulham. He isn't the nailed-on starter he previously was but when called into the XI, he has shown he is still more than up to the task in Premier League football, and his role as captain means he plays a crucial role on and off the pitch.

The midfielder could likely end his playing career at Craven Cottage quite happily, and manager Marco Silva likely wouldn't complain about that either. In fact, losing his skipper mid-season – regular starter or not – would be a big blow.

As such, it could be a tough deal for ITFC to strike with both Fulham and Cairney.

Ipswich Town's existing midfield options
A midfielder is certainly needed at Ipswich Town this January, and Cairney would be a fine signing. He would add real experience and leadership in the middle of the park, and his technical ability and wide passing range could make him a solid partner for the combative and energetic Azor Matusiwa.

It has mainly been Jens Cajuste and Jack Taylor competing for the spot alongside Matusiwa this season. Marcelino Nunez has adopted a more advanced role amid the struggles of Sammie Szmodics and Chuba Akpom.

Marco Silva satisfied to give supporters a 'good feeling' on derby day
The Cottagers continue to make up for lost points at the start of the season.

Marco Silva spoke about a 2-1 victory for Fulham against Chelsea in a West London derby.

After Marc Cucurella received his marching orders, the Cottagers were in prime position to pinch all three points at Craven Cottage. It took time, but the hosts eventually took the victory they deserved.

"Of course, against 10 men, the game became different. Even if we did start well the game, the game was very balanced until that red card. We knew that the control was coming for ourselves, [but] at the same time, you can never switch off.

"I believe that second half, we did switch off sometimes, and because of that we gave some offensive transitions for them and dangerous moments from them: Pedro Neto carried the ball very well, or some moments with Cole Palmer.

"At the end we deserved the three points. Second half, with the change [replacing Jorge Cuenca with Kevin] and we pushed more for the goals and we created some chances, and a great win for us.

"It's a very good feeling for me to give these great games for our fans. Not being too humble, but for us they are three points, nothing more than that, for the football club. For the people that are more important than the club, the fans, means much more than that, and that is the good thing for me.

"I celebrate with my players. We move on. I'm going to start to think that in three days I'm going to have another game against Middlesbrough, different competition, and we have to make the players be with all motivation again.

"Because if you play against Liverpool, or a derby against Crystal Palace, or a big derby against Chelsea, even with all the tiredness and fatigue there, you have to move, you have to go. The game is very tricky, the next one. That is what is on my mind right now.

"But I know there are reasons much more than that for the fans, they are going to enjoy the next few days, for sure, with their neighbours, with our biggest rivals, and that represents more really for them.

"I'm very proud that we can give them, again, a very good feeling. I know that the last 20 years, before we started this journey, was not something usual for them in terms of results against Chelsea.

"I know that on paper, everything is completely different off the pitch in terms of investment, size, whatever. They are the world champions. The reality is, since we started this journey, we are giving year after year, good feelings in these types of games. That is the most important thing for me."

The FFC Rumour Mill: Atta bid rejected as Man United look at Silva
Jack Stroudley looks through the latest rumours surrounding Fulham over the past week.

Despite injuries and players out at AFCON, things are going extremely well for Fulham at the moment. While it's been a good few weeks, the need for reinforcements remains. Let's take a look at all the transfer gossip from the first week of the January window.

Incomings
The biggest news of the week comes from Fabrizio Romano who reported last Saturday that Fulham have had a €20m bid rejected from Udinese for French midfielder Arthur Atta. The Italian side has no interest in selling the 22 year old this window after only signing permanently for them last summer. While I don't know a lot about Atta, looking at his stats, he's the type of profile Fulham need in midfield, desperate for more creativity and goals. I'm not sure this will come to anything, but it's good to see Fulham showing intent in crucial areas with two large bids already rejected this month.

This follows on from last week's bid for PSV forward Ricardo Pepi, which the Dutch side rejected. While nothing concrete has come since then, various outlets in the Netherlands are suggesting that Fulham are way off valuation. PSV technical director Earnest Stewart told Eindhoven's Dagblad that Fulham will need a much bigger offer, and Voetbal International have claimed that Fulham will need to pay an "exorbitant fee". The demand for Pepi won't go away with Marco Silva keen to get another body in attack and with the 22 year old in good form this season, it will take a much higher bid to make this happen in January.

Elsewhere, the Whites appear to still hold an interest in both Tyrique George and Raheem Sterling from Chelsea, with TeamTalk reporting that we are still keen in signing both from them lot down the road. Sky Sports Germany have backed up the latter of the two claiming that Sterling is leaning more towards a move with Fulham with both ourselves and West Ham interested in the 31 year old.

With the introduction of new manager Liam Rosenior I think it's worth keeping an eye on both of these. The new boss will want to make his mark and both players will want to get their careers back on track.

Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo have reported that Fulham are working on a deal to sign Real Betis midfielder Sergi Altimira with the club already looking at replacements for the 24-year-old. The report goes on to say that Fulham have enquired over the Spaniard who is valued between €20 to €25m.

Finally, Spanish outlet Futbol Fichajes have reported that Fulham and AFC Bournemouth are interested in Deportivo de La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez. The 23-year-old has scored seven times this season and is valued at €40m by the Spanish side. While someone of this quality is someone who would improve Fulham, I'm not sure there's any truth in this. We would surely look to spend €40m on other areas of the pitch before another winger (especially with Wilson's good form).

Outgoings
The Telegraph have reported that Marco Silva's name has been discussed internally by Manchester United following the departure of Ruben Amorim. Silva is on a shortlist alongside Andoni Iraola and FC Porto's Francesco Farioli while The Sun are claiming that Fulham are "bracing" for an approach from Manchester United. This rumour isn't something that will shock anyone with Silva's contract expiring in the summer, but I'm not sure it will go anywhere for now. If Silva doesn't like the current ownership he's hardly going to enjoy working for INEOS and with United seemingly looking at appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjær on a caretaker role until the end of the season, this is one that may drag on into the summer months.

German reporter Manuel Bonke has suggested that Bayern Munich will look to terminate Jonah Kusi-Asare's loan this month with the Swedish striker only playing 23 minutes of Premier League football since arriving on deadline day. JKA wanted the Premier League move while Bayern were more reluctant. This has nothing short of a disaster, so I can totally see it happening. Regardless, Fulham need extra bodies in attack.

Finally, Paris FC are taking an interest in French defender Issa Diop according to L'Equipe and have made contact with the 28 year old. I'd like to see Diop stay as he's always a dependable player to bring off the bench when we need to see games out. However, this is something we could explore in the summer. Diop's contract runs out in 2027 and you'd imagine he wants to play more football, see out the season and look to cash in during the summer so that we make some of the money back we spent on him.

Yeovil Town have completed the signing of Jonathon Page from Walton and Hersham until the end of the season.

The Glovers have brought the defensive midfielder to Huish Park and have the option of an additional year on his contract.

Page spent 10 years progressing through the youth ranks at Fulham, signing his first professional contract in February 2020. During his time at Craven Cottage, he won multiple accolades including the Premier League 2 Division 2 title, and gained valuable senior experience during a loan spell at Farnborough, before joining them permanently. He went on to make almost 100 appearances in the National League South.

After a spell with Aldershot Town, Page joined Walton and Hersham in June 2025, linking up with Billy Rowley and Darren Simpson and helping the Swans to the top of the table. He now takes the next step in his career by joining them at Huish Park.

Page said: "I'm really excited to be joining Yeovil Town and to be working with Billy and Darren again. I've seen the plans they have for the team and the club, and I'm looking forward to contributing and helping the squad achieve our goals this season."

In Praise of Harry Wilson . . . Fulham Folk Hero and Wales' World Class Wizard
Harry Wilson is playing the football of his life, and it is no exaggeration to say that Wales and Fulham currently have a player operating at genuine world-class level, as David Roberts reports.

Week after week at Craven Cottage, Wilson has become the difference-maker – the man opponents fear, fans adore, and teammates trust when moments matter most.

His form has been so exceptional that he now finds himself mentioned alongside Erling Haaland in the Premier League's most eye-catching statistics, a comparison that underlines just how devastating his recent output has been.

Since the start of November, only Manchester City's goal machine Haaland has recorded more goal involvements than Wilson in the Premier League. Haaland has 12. Wilson has 10.

For a wide forward in a Fulham side without the resources of the league's elite, that statistic alone places Wilson's run firmly among the most impressive in Europe.

Wilson is a very different player to Haaland, but with Mo Salah at AFCON, Bukayo Saka subdued of late, and Cole Palmer on the way back from injury, is there a more consistent, classier performer around than Wison at present?

From a Wales presepctive, with crunch World Cup qualification play-off ties looming in March, Wilson's wizardry could not be better timed.

It is a surge that has transformed Fulham's season. What once looked like a campaign of anxiety has turned into one of ambition, with European qualification again a realistic target.

Wilson has been central to that shift, producing decisive contributions almost every time he steps onto the pitch.

His performance against Chelsea on Wednesday night was the latest example.

From the opening whistle he tormented the visitors, testing their defensive discipline, forcing mistakes and constantly finding space between the lines.

His intelligent run in behind directly led to Marc Cucurella's red card, changing the game's dynamic.

A first-half goal was ruled out by VAR due to an offside elsewhere in the move, but Wilson refused to be denied, sealing the victory late on with a composed finish that sent Craven Cottage into raptures.

For Fulham head coach Marco Silva, Wilson's influence is no surprise.

Speaking after that win, Silva reiterated just how highly he values the Wales international.

"If you remember my first press conference after the summer window, you asked me about the Leeds offer," Silva said. "I told you straight away, I didn't think one second about that. He is our player and he is so important for us."

That importance has only grown as the season has progressed. Wilson already has seven Premier League goals and four assists – the most productive top-flight campaign of his career – and those numbers only tell part of the story.

What makes Wilson's form even more remarkable is the context. Signed from Liverpool in 2021, he has often had to fight for consistent starts, making just 41 Premier League starts across the three seasons before this one.

Now, he is undroppable. This season he has featured in 20 of Fulham's 21 league games, starting 18, and looking sharper with every appearance.

Crucially, his club form has mirrored – and arguably fuelled – his impact on the international stage.

Since Gareth Bale's retirement, Wales have searched for a new talisman. That search is over. Wilson is Wales' standout player, the one most capable of producing moments of inspiration when pressure is at its highest.

His hat-trick in the stunning 7-1 demolition of North Macedonia in November acted as a catalyst, not just for his season but for his confidence.

Since then, he has looked like a footballer fully in tune with his ability, carrying that momentum seamlessly back into Premier League action.

As Wales prepare for that first play-off tie against Bosnia, Wilson stands out as the player most likely to drag his country over the line.

His experience, composure and end product give Wales belief that, against anyone, they have a match-winner capable of changing games on his own.

Yet amid all this brilliance lies an intriguing subplot. Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season.

Talks have taken place, but no agreement has been signed. At 28, approaching his prime and producing elite-level numbers, he is shaping up to be one of the most attractive free agents in European football.

Top clubs will be watching closely. A player second only to Haaland for goal involvements over a sustained period does not go unnoticed, particularly one with Premier League pedigree and international class to match.

Silva, for his part, is desperate for Fulham to secure Wilson's future.

"He is a great lad, he loves the football club, his family are very happy here where they are living," he said. "Of course the club should do what they can do to renew the contract with him."

Exclusive: Fulham submit Ricardo Pepi bid, PSV's response revealed
Fulham have submitted a £20million bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi, sources have told Football Insider.

The Dutch Eredivisie club have responded by rejecting the offer for the 22-year-old from the Londoners.

Sources say Fulham are now returning with an improved bid for Pepi as they look to agree a January deal.

The young striker already has 10 goals and two assists in 21 appearances in 2025-26, including four goal contributions in the Champions League.

This is not the first time that a Premier League club has seen an offer rejected for the talented star, though.
