I fully understand your point, but Qatar, for all their failings, were not looking to invade half of the western hemisphere. While there is considerable opposition building up against the manbaby's world domination schemes in the US, it has been pretty ineffectual up until now, largely hampered by the official opposition still playing politics as usual, rather than recognising they are hurtling towards either a full blown dictatorship or some sort of coup to remove him.

Maybe if FIFA had any morals they would lead the way by taking the games away from the US and letting Mexico and Canada run them, but they have Infantino awarding a peace prize to someone intent on starting several wars.

Maybe if everyone had boycotted the 1936 Berlin Olympics it might have slowed Adolf down, maybe not. Maybe if the England team that played an international in Germany around then had refused to give the Furher the Nazi salute, it would have said we will not kowtow to people like you. Who knows?

Yes, we are also busy playing politics as usual too. Quite a few commentators on both sides of the pond are muttering about it being 1938 again. There are no easy answers, given our historical links and the extent we rely on munitions and spare parts from the US, but I have been saying for a year now that in an ideal world we would be cosying up to China (God help us) as they look like the adults in the room right now.

I appreciate that would be politically suicidal, but the alternative, sticking with the current arrangement, puts us at the mercy of an unhinged mind.

Actually, that is unfair. He is not unhinged, he is succeeding in his power grab, and nobody, us included, seems to be willing to face the new reality. The thing is, a brief perusal of his Project 2025 document lays all this out as his plan all along.

The calls are growing for the King to cancel his proposed US trip to celebrate their Declaration of Independence, and for William to boycott the World Cup. We shall see.

No , Teams won't boycott but the fans will, the current projection is only selling 30% of the offered tickets for games in the US . Given the wide ranging and extreme restrictions on anyone of colour regardless of what country your from , restrictions in general including religious, seizing peoples phones/ laptops etc etc etc people just don't want to be exposed to politically directed actions not only at airports but while they are at their Hotels, moving through cities, travelling to and from games etc etc . The US tourism market is staring now at a 100 Billion dollar black hole and growing, people in general want nothing to do with US and changing travel plans to either Canada or Mexico or more local places instead

The mistake is to think that sending his people a message is either a new thing or something impactful. His people know he's hated by a lot of people. His people don't care. Rightly or wrongly: A boycott wouldn't bother them one bit.

I doubt any national football team could risk a boycott since FIFA would almost certainly penalise them. However I do expect that a lot of potential supporters will take the view that they do not wish to travel to the US to watch.

Where anyone sees the competition being moved from the USA at this stage makes no logical sense.
