Quote from: RAY Rock on January 25, 2026, 03:01:24 PMI appreciate everyone's opinion but I see absolutely nothing in him . He played in Brazil has had a year in Europe if you look at Estevao he came straight from Brazil to chelscum and is doing really well he beats players scores goals and is assisting and is making a difference and he is younger . When you pay 40 million surely you see some end product I see nothing what I see is scared rabbit in the headlights that is a novice. When we pay big fees I dont expect to wait a year or 18 months to see if they are good enough i have seen enough with my own eyes to tell me he isn't good enough .

There's no guarantee in anything in life, If Marco's starting him he's OBVIOUSLY seeing something in training, we've seen bright sparks eventually he will shine

You coming and completely writing him off says a lot about your footballing brain

Instant gratification

Also the transfer fee was £34.6m. Still a lot but the £40m you keep quoting

I don't  like the tone of the OP. It is bordeline abusive and unnecessarily offensive.

Kevin tries very hard and puts his heart and soul into the game and for that we xan ask no more.

However I have seen absolutely nothing from him to make me think he is worthy of his place. His passing is shocking and his so called dribbling pointless, he runs at players and loses possesion. Compare him to Chukka who has genuine talent.

Maybe the coaching staff can make something of him, let's  face it they have turned ESR from a very poor player into an ordinary one with good touch and an eye for the goal.

I think at 22 he should be better and he might have abilty, but it isn't  on show yet. I hope he turns it around but i don't  think we will see a proper improvement until next season, and then only if Marco stays.

I would love him to succeed  I yhink the jury is out for the moment.

I hate that this sort of rage baiting is so successful in the modern world, permeating all levels of our society from the very top to the very bottom, where it actually belongs.

I feel like people are forgetting that there weren't £15-20 million wingers laying around during the summer window. Value across the board was absolutely atrocious. It's not like we didn't put in any bids for anybody until the last week. Shoot, we almost got outbid for kevin as well. We want to make moves in the market, we're going to have to pay market prices.

He's young.  He does dribble and lose possession a lot.  I remember when that's what United fans said about Cristiano Ronaldo.  He used to dribble at people and fall down.  It was hilarious.  And then it wasn't.  Young players need some time to develop.

First touch, control and passing are all class, spot on pretty much 100% of the time. When a move breaks down, it's never, ever with him.
I do think that rather than just keeping our attacking play flowing, he needs to start producing those moments of brilliance, like beating his man or picking a shot, that give you a goal out of nothing. But at that point he becomes our best player and Champions' League clubs/ Spurs will start sniffing around.
Ronaldo went to United when he was 18 years old. Kevin is nearly 23 that is the worst comparison you could have given😂😂.

You seem to be allowing the fee the Club paid to dictate your opinion.

You tell us that as we paid a lot for Kevin, you're not prepared to wait any length of time to see whether he will be good enough. Because of his transfer fee, as far as you're concerned, if he's not good enough now, he never will be. What this implies, of course, is that had we paid less, you would give him longer before writing off his chances. In other words: A player signed for a smaller fee can improve and may be good enough in a year's time, but a player signed for a sizeable fee cannot.

Even if Kevin never does do any better, it won't be because we paid £35M for him instead of £15M. I think it's fair to give him more time.
